An enjoyable and engaging MM Sci-fi mafia romance which kept me hooked throughout. When Kasper Kingston comes across a man claiming to be from another planet, he thinks it’s a cover story. Kasper is hiding out having set in motion a plan to weaken two major crime families. He believes Leilphun has been sent to kill him and so keeps him prisoner. When he saves his life Kasper starts to think that maybe he is an alien. Meanwhile, Leilphun has left his home planet having runaway from the authorities to avoid having to fight in the fighting arena, as a punishment. To save the human, Leilphun has to call upon his warrior spirit which he has sworn never to do in case he loses himself to his primal nature. To confuse things further Leilphun believes Kasper has initiated the betrothal ritual and Kasper is getting distracted by his otherworldly hero. I loved the two main characters and their chemistry sizzled off the page. As usual the author brought both the characters and setting vividly to life making me feel immersed in the story.

I enjoyed this romance adventure. The author does an amazing job with this story. It is a complex tale full of twists and turns, family drama, angst, forced proximity. It is also a story of finding love when you least expect it and learning how to drop your guard and trust someone.
Lela is on the search for her niece. Her niece left Australia and headed to Malta and Lela wants to find her and find out why she left. Even though she has an idea it was to do with her overbearing father.
Hamish McGregor is a lawyer who specialises in child-protection. When he is hired by Lela’s father to find the missing girl he realises that he needs to work with Lela if they are going to succeed and find the missing girl. What Hamish doesnt expect is that Lela is a stubborn woman who is determined to do things herself and the fact that she sees him as the enemy.
Can they work together to find the missing girl? Can they fight their feelings and attraction for long? And what is the risk if they give into their feelings? Both of our characters have scars in their past that makes taking a risk on love hard for them both but maybe they can take that chance together.

This book is really, really good. I am not a sci-fi can at all but this has romance which is my go to genre, so I figured I would give it a go. This is also an author that I have read before and loved their writing style. Lets start by saying this is a more of a sci-fi book with MM romance than a romance with sci-fi. The way the author writes and describes the scenes is amazing. It helped me really be able to visualize what was happening and I got lost in. this unique world that was created. I will be the first to admit that I was really thinking I wasn’t going to like this book because of the sci-fi elements. That was not the cause, I feel the sci-fi really took the story in a creative direction that I would have never thought of and really made the story come to life. The imagery that you are able to create based upon the writing allows for this book to be a quick read. I found myself flying through the pages and when the books ends, it feels like it was supposed to end the way that it did. I didn’t feel like it was lacking anything and it felt whole. There are areas that this could continue if the author wants to but it also is summed up nicely to where you as a reader feel content with how things worked out. My seven year old really enjoys books about animals. She was able to read this book and see different ways that you can play with dogs. Some words were not real common for her but it is good to expose her to new words and meanings and after she read it a couple times, she felt much more confident in herself. Porter and Midge would be great companions for kids to learn new skills and new words!

I really enjoyed this fantasy romance. It’s the perfect reluctant heroine meets brooding love interest, which makes for a truly wonderful pairing that I always enjoy and in this case there’s just some gorgeous chemistry between the two main characters. The setting and world-building were also fun to read, with just enough magic to make the entire novel feel beautiful and special. A really lovely read.

This book was such an amazing read, I was not expecting Elbert to become a magical creature of such magnitude, it was awesome! I seriously thought he was becoming a chicken, so when Valora nicknamed Pollo, it had me cracking up. This story has it all, from amazing magical beasts, shapeshifters, and two families who showcase such love for one another, to the point of being willing to do anything to protect them. Even the animals in this story had great personalities, and no characters were left out in being dimensionally developed. The time era that this book was written in fits perfectly with the settings that are drawn beautifully in the words of the story, it’s like being right there living alongside our huge family, all working together on the farm, and in the gardens. I love that each character is so approachable, they are all down to earth, and the townsfolk treat one another as a big family. It shows that everyone takes care of their neighbors. We even have our local gossip who runs the local shop where everyone needs to go for supplies. I hope this story will continue because I would love to continue following the story of Elbert and Valora, and their families along their magical journey. The trappers are all still out there hunting these magical beasts, what a great continuation to build upon as well. I’m adding this to my must-read list and will be watching the author for more fantastical books to come. @Brandy Rymer 12/2023

The Alien & the Crime Boss by Naomi Valkyrie is a really well-woven sci-fi MM mafia romance – with aliens, action, adventure, danger, high stakes, suspense, agendas, fated mates, emotion, tension, and much more. Leilphun escapes his home world and arrives on earth and into a situation he never anticipated. Kasper Kingston has a plan and can’t afford any distractions or mistakes- but fate has its own agenda. I loved this story so much. Loved the characters, the world-building, and other clever touches, and although this is a short story, it has the impact of a much longer novel. Definitely one of my favourites of this collection. Can always count on Ms. Valkyrie for an original and captivating read. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Valkyrie has in store for us next. Happy Reading…

I enjoyed this story so much. It was well written and emotional. I was hooked from the first page. This story combined the pains of growing up with folklore and magic. My heart ached for the family through out the story.

I’m such a fan of this author. The creativeness of her stories really knows no bounds. Like who would have ever thought a crime boss and alien crossover would be so good? It’s exciting, hot, and a page turner. there’s plenty of action and the only complaint I’d have is that it wasn’t longer. It’s definitely a great read.

Auctioned Surrender is the second duet in a series. Via Mari has included two books in this book just like Whispered Surrender had the first two Auctioned Surrender has books three and Four. I think this is nice for the shorter romance books because you ultimately get more in the novel and can jump straight into the next book. Book one is auctioned and it follows Bryanna and Damian’s story and book two Relentless follows Layla and Dereck. This novel was par for the course with this authors books full of drama, suspenseful, and intriguing with well developed characters that just jump off the page. You will be reading well after bedtime.

This was a great 5 star read. This author continues to pull me into her great series. This is the last book for Winter and Shane and I loved it. My emotions were all over the place. We get many twists and turns that added a great element to the story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I will warn that there are some dark elements to the story that could cause triggers for some. This is a must read series and I highly suggest it, especially if you like dark bully romance. Craig and his little sister Linda are from Birmingham but they are on holiday with their family at Loch Ness. They are both pretty determined to find Nessie and they are able to do that once a stone washes up on the shore. There is an adventure awaiting them when they finally get the chance to meet the infamous Nessie and it’s one that no one will believe.
This is a bit longer of a book than most of them written by this author. The chapters are fairly short and there are less than 10 of them so a budding reader could do well with this one. All ages will enjoy the story and the illustrations are also very well done in this book.

This was the second book I had read by this author, and they have made it to my watch list! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this MM romance where we learn about Leilphun and Kasper. It’s a wonderfully creative story that had me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. It’s a quick read, but the story feels complete. I can’t wait to see what other adventures this author creates for us. I highly recommend picking up this short venture into another world, you won’t regret it!

Kingston prides himself on making those that defy him pay….and when Ava’s brother owes him money, he takes her as collateral. However, this has been in the making for years and his obsession with Ava makes this captor/captive situation anything but normal. It follows the same flow that numerous dark romances in this genre…but it was still an interesting read. The way the book ends leaves you with a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more.
Ava is a strong character, while Kingston is a hard character to like. He is definitely the villain in the story and wears the title proudly. I found myself turning the pages and time passing without noticing. I will definitely be checking out the next book as soon as I can.

This was an incredibly captivating and engaging book! I know the target audience is younger, but I couldn’t put it down the entire time. I read this in one sitting and don’t regret it at all. I absolutely agree that this is for fans of Hayao Miyazaki because we’ve seen all his movies, and this has a wonderfully similar vibe. Elbert is going through some changes, and they aren’t what you would think of as typical growth spurts. This book is full of magic, fantasy, imagination, and a range of emotions that can be a bit tough to cover. I highly recommend picking up this book even if it seems a bit young for you because I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

This book is a very strong start for this author! It is written so well, as if she has been writing for years. I love fantasy books and have read many. The author was able to create a fantasy world that draws you in. Sloane is a great character and as you are taken through her journey, you are kept on the edge of your seat. Nessie and the Living Stone (Nessie’s Grotto) by Lois Wickstrom is a delightful children’s book (it did surprise me it was a chapter book and not picture book) that takes young readers on an exciting adventure at Loch Ness. A cute little story about a boy wanting to find the legendary Loch Ness and his little sister getting in the way. That is until a blue stone that glows leads them directly to Nessie’s secret place. It is here that Craig has to make a tough choice. Could he risk his life to save the Loch Ness monster?
This story made for a good bedtime read for my tiny humans. We all enjoyed it! We cannot wait for the next story as another bedtime read. I would recommend this book.

Overall, Mission Improbable: Vietnam is a gripping mystery novel that combines elements of history, adventure, and personal introspection. The story follows Blanche “Bang” Murninghan as she embarks on a journey to Vietnam with Jean McMahon in search of Jean’s mother. For Blanche, this is not only a quest to find someone else’s loved one but also an opportunity to uncover her own family history and closure regarding her father’s death in Vietnam.
The author does an incredible job of immersing the reader in the setting of post-Vietnam War Vietnam. The descriptions of the landscapes, culture, and people are vivid and atmospheric. From the rice paddies to the bustling streets of Saigon, the author creates a sense of place that feels authentic and rich in detail.
The characters are well-developed and relatable, especially Blanche. Her determination and stubbornness make her a compelling protagonist. Jean McMahon, with her own personal motivations for finding her mother, adds depth to the story and creates an interesting dynamic between the two women. Additionally, the introduction of Stick Dahlkamp as a Vietnam War veteran and ally to Blanche and Jean adds another layer of complexity to the narrative.
The pacing kept me engaged throughout. There are several twists and turns that not only heighten the suspense but also provide insights into the lingering effects of war and the secrets that can be buried within its aftermath. The blend of mystery, history, and personal growth makes for a compelling and thought-provoking read.

I love every book that I have read by this author and this one is no exception! The storytelling and creativity that is brought to life…..I loved every page of Kasper and Leilphun’s story in The Alien & the Crime Boss.
Kasper is out to take over as a crime boss, planning out every detail with intricate thought. Taking retreat at his cabin, Kasper never expects to find Leilphun by chance. At first, Kasper was cautious unknowing where this man came from and why he is so different. As Kasper gets to know Leilphun the more Kasper feels safe knowing that Leilphun has his back….and maybe more..but will he be able to still take over as crime boss as well..
Leilphun is on the run from another planet….ends up on Earth. Unknowing where he was… Leilphun meets Kasper by chance. As Leilphun wants to get to know Kasper on a deeper level… will he also be able to help and protect Kasper when danger comes knocking….
I loved this book and I do not want to give any spoilers away. This is a fun, enjoyable MM mafia / alien story and I always look forward to what this author has in store next to read!

I am so in love with mm romance and this story really interested me. The concept of Leilphun being a “warrior” and he kind of grows into this being to help defend and protect Kasper. I love the attachment Kasper forms for Leilphun and the drama that unfolds while Kasper tries to merge the two empires.

Such a great book for families thinking of getting a puppy or even those who just got a new puppy (or an older shelter dog). There’s great ideas of things to do with your pup to keep them entertained and help with their training, I like that the book says “not too many times and not for too long” when suggesting the dog takes the lead during a walk. Kids will enjoy the rhyming sentences in the story, the illustrations I’m back and forth on. I like how realistic everything looks, especially all the different dogs. But I think younger kids will like them better if things were more vibrant. I like the reminders for parents at the end of the book. Even if you’re familiar with dogs it’s just a good reminder to know that kids are different and will need to learn how to really interact and care for the animals. Overall I enjoyed the book and recommended to families who are thinking of adding a new furry member into their lives.

Fantastic! I enjoyed this more than the first duet. Both were great stories but this one just kept me more engaged and focused. Again, reading the 2 stories intertwined was really fun and interesting. Would definitely recommend to people. Although it’s two stories, it was a great quick read. Another great job. Can’t wait to read the 3rd and final duet in this series

A Christmas Amish Courtship By: Jennifer Spredemann
This is a fantastic sweet, clean romance. It is the third book in the Amish Courtship series, but the first that I have read. It definitely functions as a standalone. However, I will now be reading the previous two books because I enjoyed this one so very much. It is a second chance romance abut Anne and Andy. They both have had their hearts broken and are nervous to explore something new. However Andy takes a chance and writes to Anne, without disclosing who he is. This added a fantastic extra element to the story in which the reader is anxiously awaiting for Anne to find out who is writing her the letters. The romance builds throughout the story and the addition of the secret admirer really kept me wanting to read. I definitely encourage reading this wonderful, clean romance.
