While a little slow in spots, I found the story kind of endearing. It was a story of two people dealing with grief. They were dealing with it in different forms yet somehow it worked. Who knew that getting lost trying to find the bathroom could lead to love? Naseer was feeling sorry for himself and yelling at everyone except Jade. I think it was a bittersweet story. I felt every emotion. He fought hard for their relationship. It’s a good book that I’d recommend.
Wayward (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 1) by Via Mari 5 stars
This is the first book of a new series by Via Mari. I love her writing style, it sucks you right in and doesn’t let up until the end. We do see characters from her other series but this story follows Jay and Sasha. Jay is head of security and Sasha a ballerina. Through suspense and drama, we see this amazing story unfold. A must read!
Undercover (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 2) by Via Mari 5 stars
Anytime I see this author has a book, its an immediate one-click for me. This is book 2 but its not needed to read book 1, but you’re going to want to after you finish this one. She’s just that good! I’m loving this new series, and seeing previous characters from other series is always fun too. This follows Matt and Marenah, and the secrets in this book left me gripping my kindle for what was to come. I love the mix of action and steamy scenes. Must must read.

I found this story to be absolutely fascinating. Claudia has a past and is trying to stay on the down-low. She applies for the only job she can and winds up on ship of low-lifes, except for the first mate. The captain is a real piece of work. I loved how Claudia worked to redeem herself,which wasn’t easy on that ship. Claudia turned out to be a strong character who just wanted to do what’s right. I have to applaud her. It’s a good book that had me engaged right from the start. There’s a lot of action, a bit of romance, and some suspense. It’s one I recommend.

Who didn’t want to be a detective when they were younger? I know that I did, and this is a story that opened so many doors for thought. This is a cute story about Dylan and how his little sister Emily grow closer, especially when they have to learn to work together. Dylan wants nothing more than to be a detective, he has saved his allowance to pay for a detective kit. Dylan has even watched every episode of Youth Sleuths so he can learn how to be a good detective. This story is well written and easy for the little ones to follow and enjoy. I loved that the author answered the readers’ questions at the end, and that she thought to add a new word to each chapter. Later, she puts a vocabulary list from the book and the definitions at the back for the little ones to continue to learn. This is a great start to this series, and I look forward to reading what comes next for Dylan and Emily.

This is the first book in the Sinful Duets series. This is one author that never fails to impressive me. I have loved every book I have read and am always excited to read new ones. If you like possessive, strong, stubborn men, a strong lead female character, danger around every turn and chemistry and steam off the charts then I highly recommed these book. There are 2 books in the series which focus on two different couples.
The first story follows Jay and Sasha.
Jay works as security detail protecting some of the Mafia men. He is good at his job and so is his team. Normally he is focused on work until a Russian Ballerina waltz into his life and changes it forever. Sasha is a firey woman she knows what she wants and goes for it. And what she wants is Jay’s boss. However when he turns her away Jay sees his opportunity. However she is no damsel in distress and with connections of her own to other Mafia families and selling secrets to a different one she could land herself in very hot water. Jay meanwhile is determined to protect her at any cost but how will he react if her secrets are revealed? What would it mean for Sasha if her true identity is revealed? This is a fast paced read which had me continously turning the pages. I felt like I couldn’t breath until I got to the end it was such a gripping read.
The second story is about Marenah and Matt.
Marenah is the granddaughter of the Russian Mafia family. She knows secrets that both the Russian Mafia and the Chicago Mafia wants her silenced for. As she goes looking for answers she finds herself taken and kept in a basement with Matt.
Matt was undercover looking for Sasha and now he find himself captured by the Chicago Mafia. When he meets Marenah the connection and attraction between them is instant. Now Matt feels the overwhelming need to protect Marenah at all cost and with the Russian and Chicago Mafia’s after her is that even going to be possible? What secrets does Marenah know that has made her such a target? Will Matt stand any chance of protecting her and keeping her safe? Again this is a gripping read, the characters are amazing. I feel in love with Matt straight away and I loved how strong and determined Marenah is. This author has a great talent of writing characters that completely complement each other and the story’s just flow effortlessly.

YA paranormal suspense The second book in the J.J. morris series, Dreamscape, follows Joey as she tries to navigate a normal life but is drawn into the fantastical paranormal world. There is so much between the pages along with strong characterisation and vivid imagery this book did not disappoint. Emotional, unpredictable, mysterious and creative this book kept me turning the pages well into the night. Looking forward to more of this series. Highly recommend!
Engaging suspense Secrets at the Cafe is an intriguing mystery read with interesting characters and suspenseful writing. Karina has been thrust into a life not of her choosing. Her grandmother’s dying wish was for her to take over her cafe. This one decision leads to an unpredictable adventure with a missing journal and a possible treasure hunt. This author always knows how to deliver a multilayered story with a captivating narrative and vivid imagery. Recommend.

5 Stars Bad at Being Good (An MM Brother’s Best Friend Romance) by A.L. Morrow
Bad at Being Good is a MM Brother’s Best friend Romance that is quite the emotional journey. I wasn’t expecting it to be as deep in emotions as it was. This is a story not only about forbidden love but grief and how one deals with it. I’ve read other books by this author but this one is definitely my favorite yet. The characters are relatable, connected and fully developed and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Are promises meant to be broken especially when there’s guilt mixed in? I highly recommend reading this emotional journey to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This story was absolutely amazing, I loved the twist with involving the mob in this book. It made it so exciting to read, plus what a great way to get to meet new characters. Meeting Curtis and Lina’s families and seeing their family traditions was a genius move to help bring these two characters together even more. I loved the descriptions of the different countries that this book takes place in, it was so beautiful to feel a part of the New Year celebration, and oh my all the food descriptions made my mouth water! The Echo Series has been one of my favorite series to read in 2023, I cannot wait to read the next series that C. R. Alam. She has an amazing talent for writing books that draw you into the storyline and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book to continue delving into the characters’ lives. You just get so invested in each of the characters’ stories, but the author continues to build upon the past character’s lives, allowing you to continue to learn about their continuing celebrations in their happily ever after. Caitlyn is back in book 2, this time with her husband Gio. They travel to Canada to become ambassadors for the ACC in the hopes of leading to growth both together and separate amongst the communities. Cait’s intelligence and interest in finding the right spots for everyone to stoke inclusiveness and teamwork, her goal is to bring the communities together to share their strengths and cooperate for growth and strength. She is a talented leader and has everyone’s respect.
In the midst of trying to guide the cooperative efforts, Cait and Gio find an old enemy waiting in the wings to attempt to destroy all they’ve built. As in book 1, the visuals are stunning, the emotions are palpable, and the characters have you invested in their beliefs and well being. Cait suffers betrayal and tragedy that shakes her to her core, driving a need for revenge. Whatever you think these books are going to be like, you cannot possibly have it figured out. Completely engrossed in Cait, her family, and her goals!

They were turned into immune children by a previous regime who had a goal to repopulate their communities – their own, Lewis, consists of a dome underwater – the dome protects the humans from the infected water all around them.
Sera and Cait are smart young women and have dreams and desires – but how will they manage to escape their fates when they’re surrounded by water they can’t touch and the Nexus which was shut down by their own parents 14 years ago. Well…sounds like the best bet is to restart the Nexus!
This book isn’t really my normal read, but I enjoyed the range of emotions the girls felt as they made a plan and executed it. They discover a lot about themselves along the way and find lots of trouble, too. When they enter the Nexus, they find themselves in new communities they didn’t even know existed, and find both similarities and differences between the new communities they continue to locate. Will they be able to find their way home? Will they be able to keep the communities safe while they do so?

I Became a fan of this author after reading Jake the Growling Dog. So I couldn’t wait to read this one🥰 As always I really enjoyed reading Samantha Shannon story and how meaningful they are and the messages they relay. The graphics and colors were great. I read this to my nieces and nephew tonight and they loved it and wanted to read another . And omg I freaking loved all the extra activities she put at the end for the little ones to do 🥰 Ps huskies are my favorite breed.

So, this book was off to a slower start for me, which makes sense with all of the world building. I will say Sloane was fantastically written, full of tenacity and wit. It picked up a bit around 50% of the book, and then from there i couldn’t put it down. The ending had me in shreds! It was so unexpected and not something that is seen a lot in most fantasy book. It is written more like a high fantasy style, but if you’re into it then pick it up and give it a read!

Although they are not a series, this is another story that takes place in Millersville and I’m staring to wonder if this town is cursed. This time around Karina is back home running her grandmother’s (Gigi) Cafe after her death. Karina soon finds that she has a mystery when Gigi’s diary goes missing. The book provides strong character development as the list of subjects is created and the reader gers to learn about each character that may have taken the diary. The resolution was quick and finalized in a single short chapter; so it felt a little rushed. Ultimately, this is a fast read that will keep you wanting more.

Always such beautifully illustrated books with interesting, and unique stories. Carrie loves to watch the Starlings murmuration fly high in the sky with her grandma. Pulling out a box of her grandmas that has feathers on it, Carrie gets the biggest surprise of her life. A moment she will never forget, and she joins the starlings in the sky. The added history at the back of the book was perfect as my seven-year-old son asked me about the starlings at the end of the book and it was an added little story for him to understand why they came to North America and how.
I knew from the title this book was going to be amazing and it didn’t disappoint. It’s so much fun and beautifully illustrated. My seven-year-old son had a field day looking at all the pictures and pointing out the silliest thing he could find. He especially loved the science note at the end that said while it is not often it is possible for a tornado to suck up water, he thought it was awesome and hopes to see falling fish and frogs one day.

Such a beautiful book. Illustrations that leap off the pages and a story that warms the heart. Luna just wanted to be like everyone else, but they only made fun of her until she found a friend. Nemo the cat was different like Luna, she couldn’t do the right things either but in a moment of hope and asking to play they both found everything they needed to be happy. Love is all Luna needed and Nemo helped bring that into her world to cancel out the sadness.

Beautifully illustrated and wonderful book. This book shows the B’s of being yourself. Being comfortable in your skin and embracing all that your culture has to give. Bold. Big-hearted. Brave. Brilliant. Balanced. Blessed. Beautiful. Bilingual. Bountiful. Words to live by when embracing your race, religion, language, culture and so much more. I also loved how the book showed representation of multiple races and cultures in the classroom and his friends.

Grave Digger Academy IV was my favorite of the series, so far. I literally did not put it down, reading it in one sitting. Makayla is back at Grave Digger Academy, but everything is different this year. There is a new headmistress, and a lot of the students didn’t return, or perhaps weren’t invited back, or maybe disappeared….everyone has a different theory. There is so much going on and the plot thickened a lot in this one. Relationships were built with others strengthened and some severed. It wasn’t quite as much of a cliff hanger ending, but left a lot open. I cannot wait for the next book. I need to know where this is heading and ends. Because the things that happened in this book, I did not expect.

Luna the Howling Husky Finds her Howl is a great kids book. I picked it out simply from the cover art. I love the northern lights and huskys, so it was a given I would read it to my son. The book tells a great story, but also has good lessons hidden within. Luna is not like her siblings, she can’t howl like they can, and she looks a little different. She is kind of the outcast, Rudolph, Ugly ducking, black sheep etc. She makes a new friend in a neighborhood cat, who makes a surprise entrance at the end of the story. This story teaches kids (and reminds adults) not to outcast those who are different. Everyone has their own talents and charms, and sometimes you need a best friend to help you shine. We loved the photos of the real life Luna and Nemo at the end, and comparing how great of a job the illustrator did. They were spot on, and all the pictures were so colorful and fun. My one gripe is the inconsistent rhyming. Some parts of the book rhyme and flow well, and others, not so much. Overall, I loved it and want a paper copy!
