I loved the fact that the characters seemed real, flawed, and nuanced but still kept the lighthearted feel of a romance while still dealing with hard topics like loss, familial drama, devastaing loss and the barriers trust issues create. The book felt real and left you feeling like love can flourish in the times that you least expect it. You just have to find a way to trust yourself as well as others. This is my second book by this author, and I can’t wait to pick up another.

Lauren and Katie are back at Amberwood. They are year 9’s this year and excited for the new term. Grace and Rodney are now free to go anywhere they wish because they are not stuck to the Amberwood grounds any longer. The adventure begins in the town theater where we meet Lillie. With the theater being torn down there is some urgency to save her.
This book was quite enjoyable and youths who enjoy some mystery and a bit of paranormal will love this continuing series. Another great read.

It wasn’t until I finished this book that I found out it was book two of a series. I think that maybe reading the first would have really pulled the story together for me. I found I was a little lost with a few things that were happening and told in the book, which I felt were probably addressed in the first book. But besides that, this book was good and so well written that I will be going back and reading the first book. This book was filled with so much action, adventure, supernatural, paranormal suspense. Mystery and so much more. This book was very well written and was so filled with imaginative story that I felt like I was right there with the characters myself. Joey finds a world of paranormal and she’s not sure how to come to the reality of the real world. This book really had me hooked thou from the beginning, and o couldn’t put it down.

Kingston Vaughn Winter saw a chance to finally have Ava Bella Blue in his grasps, kidnapping and holding her captive while her brother neglects to pay his debt. King finds himself enjoying Ava’s attempts to leave, in some ways she is just as ruthless as he is. King finds himself being protective with Ava but when she is put in danger on his watch he will do everything he can to claim her as his.
The blurb was what pulled my attention on this story. It is dark and once you start reading you cannot put it down. I liked Ava, she could have easily rolled over and waited for what happens but she gives King a run for his money. Great chemistry, can’t wait for the second book.

Hope for a New World is Book 1 in the Hope Series that sparks Sci Fi Fantasy that takes place more in the future. This story was good and I really do appreciate the list of characters at the beginning as there are quite a few. I liked the story overall, parts were a bit complex for me (that is on me) and keeping track of all the POVs…..this story did take me time to read. In all, the strength of the women to heal due to the environment of Earth being destroyed by pollution and power….it sends a message.
This was a unique and intriguing read…I am looking forward to what the author brings next to the series.

This was a great read for both of my kids and me! I know it is aimed towards a younger audience, but I thought the writing and flow of the story was superb. I did not read the previous three books in the series which I think was a mistake on my part. I felt a bit lost initially but picked up on things after a while. I recommend reading them in order to avoid confusion and gain a better understanding of the characters. Lauren and her friends seem to find themselves in quite the adventure that is not all fun and games. There are mischievous things happening around the school and their show is at risk of being cancelled. I truly loved reading this fun book with my kids and plan on picking the others up now!

Fun and enjoyable cozy mystery with quite the characters! Although this story is more geared toward 11-18 years of age, I can say even the young at heart can enjoy this story. This book is set in the 1930’s as we meet Sparky and be taken in on a who done it mystery….
Sparky, an 11 year old street smart girl, is on her own living in the streets due to her own cousins leaving her behind. Thinking she is celebrating her birthday with her “sweets” and taking it easy on the local park bench….she stumbles upon a child whom is deceased. Sparky is on the run and all fingers are pointing in her direction, even from her own “friends”…..Sparky tries to find out whom is responsible for this death and clear her name.
Murder, mayhem and bad mobsters…will Sparky clear her name at then end? Definitely read and find out! This was a fun read.

This was a marvelously crafted paranormal story that I couldn’t put down! I hadn’t realized that it was the second book in a series, but I didn’t feel too lost. That being said, I am absolutely going back to read the first book, Lineage, right this moment because this author knows how to write a captivating read! I think I will probably enjoy the series much more having read the beginning as well. The way these scenes are painted brings so much to life and it is creatively vivid in every way! Joey is in college when incredibly strange things begin happening, like fires on campus and people going missing. What follows is nothing short of a wonderfully engaging and thoroughly entertaining book that you won’t be able to put down. I’ve picked up the first book so I can fully catch up before the next in the series arrives!
This is the 4th book in the Amberwood Hall Ballet School series. It can be read by itself but I would recommend you go back and read them in order. Once again we follow Lauren and her ghost friends. This year she picks up a new friend, that not just anyone can see. Is she the cause behind all the new trouble?

The new cool thing I learned a ton about in this addition to the series is crabbing! As the story starts, we are told there is a murder aboard a fishing boat. Will that prove to be the truth? As a second murder occurs, Logan and the small Oregon town she resides in are shaken, and even more so when Logan’s friend Sam is accused of being the murderer! While he swears innocence, the investigation finds the path they follow lead right to him. Logan and co jump in to find the truth of the matter and hopefully help her friend.
In addition to her friend being accused of, and looking good for, the murder, one of Logan’s sweet young students father goes missing. Her immigrant family is worried and in danger of what may happen to he and them.
Another outstanding offer in the world of Logan McKenna. I love that each part of the series offers new things to learn about, and in this one it’s the world of crabbing. As usual, Logan is a strong and capable female lead who cares about others and always wants to help. Also as usual, her intense focus tends to lead her to a point in which she is one of the people in danger herself. Quick, great read. This can be a standalone and enjoyed easily, but it is even better when read as the series.

Let me start by saying…. This author has the best children’s books. Her stories are quick for the young ones, but also older readers. In fact as an adult I love reading her books to my grandchildren. This book did not disappoint. It has it all, magic stones, sea creatures and family lessons. In this story Craig is on the search for the Loch Ness monster. On his hunt his little sister Linda follows him everywhere. Getting in the way of finding Nessie. Can Craig find Nessie? What length will he go to see Nessis? What else will he find? This is a short chapter book so all children will enjoy reading the story. The younger children will enjoy having it read to them, as well. The story is easy to follow and gives life lessons. Opening the opportunity to ask questions for both children and adults. I look forward to she where this story leads.

This is a quick and easy read that you can get through in one sitting. But, don’t let the number of pages fool you…there is a lot packed in this novella. When Daniel is left at the altar, his best friend, Joey, decides that they are going to make use of the non-refundable honeymoon tickets. What they don’t expect is the shenanigans they will find on their trip. Sara is enjoying her vacation when she comes across Daniel…bu things quickly go sideways between the chemistry between them and her job.
This book had me laughing out loud during some scenes. There is definitely a lot that happens in a short amount of time. I found myself getting through this story very fast and I was immersed into the story. Another good book by this author…looking forward to whatever they write next.

This book has it all. A little romance, suspense, thriller, and smiles. I was caught between wanting to binge read the entire thing and wanting to put it down so that I could take my time reading it. From the very start I enjoyed reading about Marcie and was so excited when she found Ted. Beverly is annoying and Zeke is just a creep. As the story goes on, those feelings only intensified. A great read! I enjoyed it and will be putting more Debra Parmley books on my TBR list for sure!

This is a fantastic mystery novel that has elements of history, adventure and the main character reflecting on her life. Blanche is on a journey with Jean McMahon to find Jean’s mother. Blanche is interested in going on this journey so that she can explore her own history as well as find out more about her own father’s death. The author has particular talent in setting the scene of Vietnam after the Vietnam war. This is so interesting to me as I don’t know much about Vietnam, yet the author did a great job in visually taking me there. She did a fantastic job describing the culture as well and I found myself completely engrossed in these details. Nancy Nau Sullivan does a fantastic job in creating characters that are developed and relatable. I especially loved Blanche – she was a special kind of stubborn that I definitely enjoyed. The story is well paced and filled with twists and turns. I loved how the author combined mystery with history and looked at the effects of war that last long after the war ends. I definitely recommend picking this story up!
Marcie’s job as a house sitter takes a turn when her current clients ask her to take Christmas pictures with a strange-looking elf doll. Things get even stranger when the elf seems to move throughout the house. And then there’s the pilot that moves into the cabin next to hers. This is an interesting mystery that keeps you turning the page

This is a duet of Wayward and Undercover. These stories feature twin sisters, a private security team, the mafia and even more. These characters are well written and help to move the stories along. It is filled with thrills and suspense that suck you in from the first sentence and left me with a book hangover when I was done reading. It was the kind of story you hate to put down. Wayward is the first story, it features Sasha and Jay. Sasha has an interesting back story that really sucked me in. She is an unwanted daughter of a Mafia Boss. But she wants to get to know her father and infiltrates the family. This opens her up to be used as a pawn. Jay is a complex character who really added to the drama of the story. This story is so fast paced and I enjoyed every sentence. Undercover is the second story, which is told on the same time line was Wayward. This means that there is overlap between events. This features Marenah and Matt. Marenah is also a twin but she has very different feelings about her father. She wants to bring him down no matter the cost. I actually enjoyed this story more than the the first, but I also thought that it was more complicated than the first. I truly loved every second of these steamy suspenseful romances. Definitely pick this up and clear your schedule because you won’t want to put them down.

Dreamscape is Book Two in the JJ Morris Mystery Series. If you have not yet read the first book in the series, I recommend that you do because it will provide details on Joey’s backstory. This is a YA story with mystery, danger, action, suspense, paranormal, and intrigue. Joey is now in college and attempting to be a normal college student. However, that proves to be exceedingly difficult after being introduced to the paranormal world and a horde of black dogs. Joey finds sleep to be difficult due to the vivid dreams that she has, especially as the dreams become more intense and violent under the control of the Dream Conductor. Then there is the black cat that keeps appearing in her room and Joey cannot figure out how the cat keeps getting in or why it insists on keeping her sleep deprived. When weird little fires start popping up all over campus, people start to disappear, and weird things start to happen things become sinister. Joey is already struggling to be the perfect student and maintain perfect grades, but the strange and sinister happenings cause even more of a distraction. Around every corner, behind every door, and inside every person she meets could be something paranormal. A fantastic read with great world building, vivid scene descriptions, and fantastic characters that fully immerse you into the story from the start. Looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series!

This is a wonderfully sweet romance book about being your own person. It also looks at staying your own person when you have to make choices. How important should family and tradition be? Is it worth giving up ourselves or our wants and desires. This book examines what happens when the main character decides to finally choose herself. This turns her life upside down, but maybe in the most unexpected way. Lela is the main character and she is really interesting and well developed. She is approached by a man who swears that he works for her father. She doesn’t trust her father which means she also doesn’t trust the man. But they agree to work together to find her niece who has run off. Hamish is a lawyer who is working to help find Lela’s niece. He is working for Lela’s father so he can ensure that his wishes are met. He is such an interesting character and adds a lot of depth to the story. It doesn’t take long for Hamish and Lela to realize they are attracted to each other. This attraction leads them to begin to open up. But they both have reasons for not becoming involved. One dangerous situation later and the two of them abandon their inhibitions. This is such a fantastic story and I love that the author fully describes all of the settings. I am a sucker for a good book that takes place in Australia. This delivers on this with a great plot and chemistry that sizzles off the page.

The Alien and the Crime Boss is a sci fi MM romance with action, danger, intrigue, suspense, and aliens. The story centers around the characters of Kasper and Leilphun. Kasper is an aspiring crime boss who is planning on a takeover by weakening the two major crime families. Leilphun is an alien who has transformed himself into human form and fled to Earth. When he wakes up and finds himself held captive by Kasper, he senses that Kasper will not harm him. As enemies approach and put Kasper’s life in danger Leilphun risks his own life to save him. The chemistry and attraction between the two is undeniable but Leilphun is uncertain if Kasper is only using him to rise to the top of the crime world or if he really cares for him. A great read by this talented author who never fails to deliver a well-crafted story with vivid scene descriptions and wonderful characters.

This was a very quick little novella. We have Kasper, who is the crime boss of this novella. He believes that he is righting the wrongs of the past. On his run away from the massive move he has just made he is met with Leilphun. Who claims to be an alien from another planet. As if his purple skin wasn’t enough of a giveaway to that. He fled his planet as to not fight in the arena that many of his kin have died in. And together they have the power to fix the wrongs that Kasper is trying to move along. This was a super quick read. I got a little confused at the pacing but was able to put myself back on track pretty quickly. It was cute MM Romance as well.

Lois Wickstrom has easily become one of my favorite children’s authors. She writes stories with such imagination and the illustrations simply add to the story. The illustrations are always so detailed and wonderful. In this story, children are introduced to the Loch Ness Monster. This is a great story that filled with wonderful characters and an underwater adventure. I loved this story and the characters of Linda and Craig. This story would make a great read aloud for younger children. I definitely recommend it.

This is the 8th book in The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride. This is a sweet historical romance about 2 people who were thrown together by circumstances and managed to find the thing they were missing in their life.
Dorothy has had to learn to be a independent woman since the loss of her husband. She is content to never find love again. However she is lonley and with her home bringing her sad memories she decides to leave it with her dog and head to the wild west in the hopes of being closer so her sister. However her plans change slightly when she comes cross an injured man called Elias Stone.
Elias is a reverend who is settling off to the wild west to spread the word of God. Unfortunately his journey was cut short when bandits robbed him and left him assuming he was dead.
When Dorothy finds him she nurses him back to health and as they talk they realise they are heading to the same place. The more time that passes Dorothy starts to have feelings for Elias but she is confused by them as she feels it is being disloyal to her deceased husband.
When the problem arises that they won’t allow unmarried women to travel on the wagon trail comes to light will Elias step forward to help so they can both reach their destination? What would happen if a marriage between 2 people for convenience turns into more? Will they both find the soul mate they are looking for or will ghosts from Dorothy’s past stop her from living and loving again.
This was a sweet historical romance with elements of danger and twists and turns to keep the reader hooked. My heart went out to Dorothy for not wanting to do anything against her husband’s memory and her struggle between that and living her life was hard to read, however her strength was amazing and I loved how she was allowing herself to live and find love again.

This is the 6th book in the Jorja Knight mystery series, and it just keeps getting better and better. When I finished the last book in this series, I was so excited to get started on this next book and read all about how Jorja would be going on vacation to travel with her best friend Gabriella. As with any mystery story, you know a private investigator isn’t going to get a vacation that easily. This book lived up to my expectations and then so much more, it has such amazing world-building, along with descriptions of places all around the world taking me to places I’ve never even dreamed of going. I love the descriptions and the situations that our main character is put into, they are so realistic, it’s exactly what I would expect to happen when traveling so far away from home. The fear and anxiety that this story provokes are so amazing, I was worried for Jorja and Gabriella both, never knowing what might happen next. This book kept me on my toes, I was unable to put it down until I got through the entire book in one sitting! I am now going to go back and start back at book number 1 and read through the entire series because if the first 4 books are anything like the last two, I’ve read, I cannot wait to dive in for the ride of my life! This was the first book I’d read in the Jorja Knight mystery series, and I absolutely loved it! This story had me following along every twist and turn with all the different clues Jorja kept following along as she tried to piece together the mystery behind the death of former PI Howard’s untimely demise. The characters were developed so dynamically, that you wondered who may have been involved in the obvious crimes committed. I was shocked at all of the different clues that Jorja was able to uncover from such little nuggets of information she was able to find, it showcased the powerful job that she performed as a private investigator. The outcome of what was going on was astounding, I was shocked, but excited at the same time when I got to the end of the book with how everything had turned out. There are a lot of surprises that you could never have guessed, which is something that only the best mystery books contain. I can’t wait to read more of this series by this author, I feel like there is so much I don’t know about the main characters that I’m excited to go back and learn about them. @Brandy Rymer 12/2023

Caitlin is back and she is home where she is introducing Gio to the rest of her family, and just as she expected, he fits right in, so as the days pass and he learns the skills her family have honed over a lifetime, she realises just how much she misses her sister. Soon, however, Caitlin is introduced to her future role as an ambassador to one of the newest communities of the ACC, she doesn’t really want it, but she has had experience in both the domed communities where she grew up and the underwater unhabs where she accidentally travelled on the 45th latitude and met Gio.
One day, Gio comes back from spending time with her dad and something is wrong, there is a strain and so when her mother pulled her to one side, it turns out that Gio asked her dad for permission to marry her and this announcement throws everyone for a loop and Caitlin is angry, but true to form, she and Gio work things out and agree to marry before they head to their new position. This turns into a joint ceremony and a massive party with family and friends travelling there from all over the world, where bonds are renewed, created and a lot of fun is had.
Soon after, Caitlin and Gio begin their work learning how to be ambassadors and what that entails and it os more work than Caitlin expected, but as she works through the exhaustion, cramming of information into her head and some of it completely baffling her, Caitlin runs herself into exhaustion, but it has a positive affect as it enables her to work through her worries, fears and anxieties to realise how important and enriching this post will be. When the time comes for Caitlin to really start, she begins to build relationships within the community and deal with some of the issues they face, and this leads to the kind of problem solving she lives for, so when she comes up with an idea, she latches on and is determined to make it a reality and if she can, it means a whole new future for all the communities in the ACC.
So as she calls in aid from different communities to reach this goal, it is not all plain sailing as old issues and enemies resurface to cause problems Caitlin had hoped she had left behind, but can maintain what she has built amid secrets, lies, betrayals and constant danger to keep herself, her family and the communities safe from this growing threat, or will she lose everything she has worked for? This is another amazing continuation of this series where science, science fiction and fantasy collide to create a future which could be a reality, as well as keeping you invested in the characters, their challenges and successes in this challenging, yet enthralling read.
