I must say up front to read the author’s warning first. I found this to be an interesting read. It is a prequel to the Blind Rebels series. It’s rough, gritty and deals with some tough stuff. Mav, Callum, Becka and Sammy are well-written characters. I don’t know anything about the rock scene but I feel this was pretty realistic. This is one messed up group. I’m pretty sure that I may need to read the series because I’m left feeling like something is missing. I suggest you read it for yourself and make up your own opinion. The “extras” are bonus chapters for each book in the series. If you are a fan of rock romance, this would be a good read.

Orange Forest Rabbit Mysteries contains three stories in one book. The Mystery of the Missing Meteor Field Carrots, An Orange Forest Rabbit tale The Mystery of the Haunted Amusement Park Mystery of the Airwhale Art I would say the book is aimed for ages 7-12 years old. The stories are a great combination of mystery, sci fi and fantasy. I would say they are a great introduction to this genre. As always Lois writing is incredible and really pulls you in.
I loved this modern young adult take on the Red Riding Hood story. It was well-written and kept me intrigued from page to page. This can be read as a standalone but there are links and nods towards the first book in the series.

A Vampire in Disguise is the first book in the Creatures of the Midwest series by Ava Silvers. As I have not read any of Ms. Silver’s work before diving into this book, I really didn’t know what I could expect from one of her stories, but to be honest- she already had me at ‘vampire’- so I really didn’t need to know anything else before I snapped up a copy and dove right in, loaded with much expectation. Let me tell you that Ms. Silvers doesn’t disappoint. I had no idea going into this book that I would love it as much as I did. Or that I would then quickly snap up the rest of the series to read, back-to-back. So, to say this was a very pleasant and entirely engrossing little surprise package is a bit of an understatement. Hazel Goode is a witch on a mission to find her missing sister, Willow. She arrives in the small-town of Shadow Hollow with no idea what she’s walking into. But pretty quickly finds things aren’t exactly ‘normal’. She is determined to uncover the truth- but, instead, what she unearths turns her life upside down. This is one adventure she could never have predicted- and now she’s in way too deep. So, strap yourself in for a riveting read. From mystery to hidden agendas, cover-ups to corruption, secret organisations to unethical experimentation- the clever way Ms. Silvers weaves her story makes it almost impossible to think of anything else, let alone put the book down. I was hooked the whole way through- and didn’t draw a breath at the end until I had purchased the next book to dive into. What started off as a bit of a paranormal mystery turned out to be a thrilling adventure with so many more layers and facets that it first appears. The story continues from book to book, so even though some ‘questions’ and threads are answered- there is so much more being uncovered, but always leaving even bigger questions that are yet to be answered pulling me further and further into its thrall. I loved the characters. The ‘friends’ that Hazel makes, as well as the ‘bad-guys’ who wreak havoc- are all superbly crafted individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I can’t wait to see what develops as the series progresses- as I can feel that Ms. Silvers has even more ‘surprises’ up her sleeve. Five books in and sweating on Book #6, Vampires in the Details, which can’t get here quick enough for my liking. If you love Buffy, Midnight Texas, Supernatural, True Blood, Angel, or Lost Girl- then you will definitely want to get your hands on this book/series. Highly Recommended. Happy Reading…

Blurring the Lines & Extras was an interesting story. I enjoyed it to an extent, though like Callum I’m not a fan of the main female character. The author gives a story of a woman’s need to be famous and need for attention. Becka is determined to bag a rock star. Have the focus be on her and have a song written about her. Unfortunately Dom isn’t the man she thought he was, but it lands her in the lap of Maverick. When he invites her on tour, how can she resist? But one problem she has in her head is that she needs to do all this. But also needs to love the band but have each one love her back. Maverick is at odds with Callum which is why he ends up right in. The arms of Becka. Becka becomes his world outside of his band Blind Rebels, but just one problem, nothing is ever easy. He has a band member who is going off the rails who has a death wish. A best friend he doesn’t know how to help, but wants to in the worst way. When Becka gets involved she makes it so Cal can’t resist her. Not taking into account how that will impact him. Will Maverick find out? Will Cal be the one to spill the beans about Becka? Or will Becka truly come clean herself? Will Cal succeed in moving on from life? Those questions and so many more. Go into this story with an open heart. I don’t care for Becka’s game so I was rooting for Cal to blow it all up. Who will you get behind?

He left the Church. A church that tried to ruin his life and career. If it were not for his ability of clairvoyance he may never have proven his innocence in the matter. Now that he is free of the church he is no longer a celebate man. Finding women flirting and falling at his feet, yet he seems to only have eyes for one. Lisette keeps seeing this man lingering in her restaurant. When she works up the courage to talk to him, she realizes who it is. An O’Connell sibling, one of the wealthiest families in the area. A man she learns is a good conversationalist and would look forward to getting to know. So when he asks her out she feels, this could be it! But no connection ever has easy navigation and this story is no different. Edward should really find himself before jumping head first into something new. What happens between Edward & Lisette? Will Teresa, Edward’s sister’s assistant, cause problems for them? Those questions and so many more as you read this no novel. I’ve read all the books in the series and they are all great! I suggest everyone to start at the begin before jumping in.

I became a fan of Brooke May’s fabulous writing with her other series. The Long Claw Pride Series ( if you haven’t read it I highly suggest you do) after loving that series I just had to check this one out. It’s a second chance romance that I immediately fell in love with. This is filled with intense emotions, Drama, spice,and chemistry. The author really knows how to write some amazing characters and some not so great characters. That’s you’ll feel some crazy Disdain for lol cough cough Gwen. But that just means the author is doing a great job if she gets you to feel such things. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

My household loves it when I bring another book home by this author, and this was no exception! We have read so many of their picture books for younger readers, but the chapter books such as these have been so amazing. My kiddos are 8 and 12 years old so they are the perfect target audience for this wonderful book. Even though I am far past the target age range, I definitely enjoyed reading this as well. There are three short mysteries inside this book and they were all great adventures. The author does an amazing job setting the scene and developing characters and plot well enough for an intriguing story, but still at the proper level for kiddos. I highly recommend picking this up and sharing with the younger ones in your life. You will find yourself enjoying it just as much!
This is the first book I have read by Ava Silvers, and I really enjoyed her storytelling! Knowing this is the first in a series is exciting; there were definitely pieces of the story that would have felt unresolved or that I had questions about that I am hopeful she expands upon in future stories (like the Librarian?!). Silvers does a great job with describing characters and mystical components; I especially am intrigued by the town that accepts magical beings and encourages them to live without hiding their identities. Definitely looking forward to book 2!

Wow……this book!!! This story was one roller-coaster of a ride of emotions. I am thinking to myself, why have I not discovered this book earlier. The Predator is book 1 in The Predator series and the author did a great job of bringing two different characters together from different paths of life. Absolute intensity between Chamberlain and K.C….their passion and love for each other is truly undeniable. With self doubt, greed, control, two different family lifestyles and upbringing, you never expect Chamberlain and K.C. to want each other with their every being but they do. This story…..wow..I am already anticipating into diving into the second book as soon as possible…I have to know…
Chamberlain has his eye on the prize, wanting to make it big in the fighting world..never expecting to meet K.C. in a chance encounter. K.C. has her life totally controlled by her parents, whom are high in society, from whom she has to marry to how she dresses and presents herself. K.C. has never had any choices on her own…but the fire that burns when she meets Chamberlain, gives her confidence on what she wants. As their passion and intensity builds for one another….so does the lies, deceit and secrets that no one wants them together, between K.C.s parents to Chamberlain’s crew of ladies whom follow him to all of his fights.
When lines blur and a heartbreaking view as K.C. feels betrayal at the core, will K.C. and Chamberlain be able to overcome…or will the family of K.C. have anything to say about it with utter disappointment…

I picked up this book because I love Percy Jackson and there was Greek mythology involved. It is also a modern day tale mixed with mythology, this book is fourth in the series. But I was able to read it as a standalone. The protagonist Tally inherits a mysterious necklace , which houses an Angel, Jophiel. Together they embark on adventures around the world, in this case, the Greek islands and the ancient temples. There are stories inspired from the Greek myths, Greek customs and food. The story has suspense, drama, friendship, family and character building. This is a perfect book for middle schoolers. I would recommend it for anyone. I am planning to pick up more from this series.

The Fallen Man (The Olympic Peninsula Book 5) by Cat Treadgold. This is the 5th book in the Olympic Peninsula Series and its my favorite one. Its the story of Edward who has left the Priesthood and come home. Edward had a rough past before he joined the Priesthood but he has come back to reconnect with his family. Once he returns home he starts going to a local coffee shop where he meets the owner Lisette and he becomes quiet enchanted with her. His family is not fond of her and discourages their relationship. Lisette has a lot of demons in her closet and she really likes Edward so she’s hoping her past won’t come back to haunt her. Will Edward’s family warm up to Lisette because their chemistry is so strong there is no keeping them apart. Will Lisette’s past come out and destroy everything she’s worked so hard to get? Read this amazing contemporary romance to find out. This can be read as a standalone but I always recommend reading them in order.

Another cute story by Lois Wickstrom. She really knows her stuff when it comes to writing books for kids of any age! I love her illustrations in the Dinopotamus series. It is really adorable. Dinopotamus can see something the human children cannot see. What is it? How does it happen? How can he make it happen again to benefit the kids? You must read to find out!
Book 1, Wild Lavender hooked me. I had to know more and see what would happen with Claire. Book 2, this book. Most definitely didn’t see the plot twist. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions from chuckling at some of the banter to my heart racing at times. The journey that Claire had to endure and become stronger from it was heart breaking and hopeful. Not to mention that she still had and won the heart of her beloved. Truly masterfully written and beautifully done. Definitely recommend reading.

Older kids (upper elementary and middle) will enjoy using their own skills to try and solve each chapter alongside Gregory the Orange Forest Rabbit and his team. The chapters are engaging and easy to read. This is a good book for older readers!
Raccoon Reunion is a fun story about a raccoon family heading to Grandma and Grandpa’s to meet their country cousins. The book explores how to try new things and get along in new situations. Rocky Raccoon finds himself meeting lots of new relatives. It leaves him feeling anxious trying to remember them all. He finds himself in unfamiliar situations but soon finds the courage to speak up and help when there is a problem. This is a great book to teach kids how to find their courage in new situations.

Josie Gardner is a mom in her forties going through a divorce and finds herself in a position that more than a few of us have dreamt about. She wakes up in her senior year of high school. Will this be a chance for a do-over? Josie is a highly relatable character. She feels like her life is falling apart. Her husband wants to take primary custody of their children and her business just suffered a terrible blow. The part of the plot in the nineties is a fun blast from the past. The friendships with Emily and Sofia were sweet and felt nostalgic. I also enjoyed the scenes with Josie and her parents. You could especially feel the longing for her dad. It was fun guessing how Josie’s actions would impact the future. This was fun to read. If you enjoy time travel plots, this is highly suggested.

This is a two-part story of the series The Blind Rebels. This book is a novella that introduces you to what happened before the series begins. This book series follows the story of the behind-the-scenes of the band Blind Rebels. There are four members in the band: Mav; Callum; Killian; and Sammy. While you are introduced to each member, part one of the book really revolves around Mav, Callum, and Mav’s girlfriend, Becka. Becka is a basket case (who hides it well) who is after fame in any way she can find it. When things didn’t work out with a guy from another band, she quickly fell into the arms of Mav. This story is told from the perspective of each character and you learn a lot about the inner workings of the storyline. I don’t want to give anything away but there are secrets and craziness that take place, mainly due to Becka’s instability. Part two of the book starts to introduce you to the three other books in the series. Now, if you have not read the series you may feel a little lost, as I did. However, they are giving you bits and pieces of the other books to introduce a timeline. As for a book, if you like sex, drugs, and rock & roll, with a side of crazy this is the story for you. While I thought the storyline was fine and I was interested in seeing where this was going, I never felt attached to the characters. It wasn’t that they were not interesting or good characters, but they didn’t do much for me. There is a part of me that wants to hear the other’s stories so I may go back and read them at some point. This is an historically written fiction. Peter Beale does what he has to to survive and help his family. As he becomes a man he must continue to do what he can. This book is well written and filled with great knowledge from the author. It touches on many important facts of our history.The Boston Tea Party, Bunker Hill and so many more.The story is fast paced and loaded with great information. While this is not a book for me, many of you will enjoy it. I know many of my history readers who would enjoy the facts that are shared. As this author has done his research before writing this book. The characters are realistic and also share so much of what life was like for them. This is definitely a series for all history buff’s. Having read the book I know you will enjoy it so much more than I would.

I really think many children will enjoy this book. It involves a mystery that had some surprises. The story had many twists and turns that kept me interested in finding out how it ends. The author has created a vibrant story that will bring joy to any kid who love mysteries and figuring out what happened. I enjoy this author’s stories and highly recommend them to anyone who’s child loves to read.

This was a very emotional story about love, heartbreak, missed opportunities, tradegy, loss and mystery. This was such a good read. I was so invested in this couples story and at times my heart broke for them both. This is Cameron and Jessie’s story.
Cameron and Jessie were friends growing up and as Jessie grew older their feelings changed from innocent friendship to something more romantic. Cameron was always there for Jessie picking her up when she fell down and supporting her through the hardest part of her life, the death of her parents. But there were forces working against them keeping them apart and when it all gets to much Jessie leaves to focus on her skating career.
When Jessie suffers an injury and returns for her friends wedding she sees Cameron and all those old feelings return.
Cameron on the other hand was left heartbroken when Jessie left and over time he slowly starts to mend him heart and move forward. He starts dating and seems happy until Jessie returns and all the old feelings return with her. The question is will opening his heart to her again be a good idea or will it only cause he more heartache?
With the immense return of feelings and the old mystery returning still trying to keep them apart do they even stand a chance? And with Cameron still in the dark about the real reason Jessie left how will he respond when he learns the truth? This is a beautiful second chance romance where misunderstandings and other people keeps two people made for each other apart

I really wanted to enjoy it, but had a hard time with this one. It is easy to read; however, the lack of punctuation, incorrect phrasing, run on sentences and a litany of other grammatical errors did make it difficult to follow at times.
Without giving spoilers, the plot twist at the end was completely unnecessary and really detracted from the original storyline. Seemed rather disjointed. All this aside, I did have some issues with the leads: the MMC was heavy-handed, stalkerish and obsessive. I’m all for a touch-her-and-die, but this wasn’t pulled off.. for me at least. The FMC was meant to come across as independent and take no nonsense from the man who is used to having his way- which was supposed to be part of the appeal behind his love interest- but it fell short. She had these conversations in her head on how she was not going to let him just have his way. When the actual conversation took place, she resisted and stood her ground-once. Then immediately acquiesced. I feel like both could use some character development.

I loved this emotional and engaging second chance romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. After her first love broke her heart Blakely was determined to have the life she dreamed of. She now has that, a great house, her dream job and the perfect boyfriend. However, when the boy who broke her heart returns Blakely has decisions to make. Jamie never planned to return home when he joined the Air force, but a last request from his best friend results in him returning. This means confronting his past and reconciling with Blakely. To complicate matters, Blakely’s promotion rests on Jamie opening up about their friend’s death. As she sees the darkness Jamie carries and begins to understand his decision to leave her behind, her anger disappears. This leaves Blakely’s heart vulnerable as she finds away to help Jamie’s heart heal from his traumas. The mix of their shared history and Jamie’s demons will either push them further apart or bring them closer together. I loved Blakely and Jamie and their chemistry came across in the story. It was an emotional read at times but an enjoyable one. I was hooked throughout and I look forward to the next book in this new series.

An enjoyable, emotional and engaging contemporary romance, with a rockstar romance theme. Cadence is stuck in a relationship with a guy who is now a stranger and in a career she didn’t want. She’s craving something, and she finds it when she comes face to face with the lead singer of Rebel Rebellion, Damien Walker. The fact that he makes it clear he doesn’t want anything to do with her just seems to make her more interested. However, it turns out that Damien also thinks Cadence is intriguing, but he has his own issues to deal with. His family is relying on him and memories from his past keep him from getting too close to anyone. Cadence manages to break through Damien’s walls and although he can’t have her, he can’t stay away. They feel like everything is trying to keep them apart but they are willing to break the rules to be together. I love the fact that it’s the music that brings Cadence and Damien together. I found them both to be likeable and relatable characters. I was pleased that this wasn’t just like every other rockstar romance. I thought it had much more depth and emotion in the storyline which kept me invested in the story.

Lois Wickstrom does it again!! We absolutely love her books. I read this with my kids for bedtime and our usual daily reading. I love mystery books and think this is a cute fun way to see if my kids get into it as well.
There are 3 mysteries stories to read all with adventures, fun and family. We enjoyed Gregory and his family very much. 3 books in one to make it even better!!
