Rock Crush and Roll by Hunter Snow

I really did enjoy this book. It was a nice slow burn rom com that was a good palette cleanser from all of my other romantasy and dark romance book I typically read. In this book you have Tyler who has been in the music industry her entire life unfortunately she didn’t inherit the music gene from her dad that the rest of her family has. But she is making a career out of being a music manager. She meets Cary again years later, completely sworn off dating musicians, but everything that Cary does makes her question swearing them off. I had several good laughs during this entire book. I absolutely did not like Tyler’s boss. He made my skin crawl every time he came into the picture. The story was wonderfully done and was a great balance to music and normal plot which a lot of music related fiction swings one way or another. I liked reading about the music industry and the Canadian aspect of music management. I’m excited to read more from this author!
Lost Hollow : A Small Town Science Fiction Romance (Alienville Book 1) by Donna S. Frelick

Moira is on a chase to find her sister, the last time she heard from her was from Allenville but not is all it seems. Searching out the Police Chief Moira starts wondering is she in danger pursuing her missing sister but she has to get to the bottom of it even if every turn ends up a blank.
Seth is the Police Chief in charge of keeping the peace between the two elements which live within the town but when Moira comes into his life looking for her sister Claire knowing exactly what might have happen, he tries to help and guide off Moira so nothing happens to her like almost all the others but with his growing feeling for this woman he has a tough decision to make.
I am not normally a science fiction reader and this is my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. This story is full of twists and turns with hints of conspiracies with mystery with danger intertwined.
The characters of Moira and Seth work well together as a duo and there interactions are brilliant within the story and there chemistry is off the charts and with the secrets and lies which are uncovered will there friendship survive.
This is a well developed story with a dark undertone and layers upon layers that as you get deeper into the story you start peeling back and more then appear which has you not being able to put the book down.
I will definitely look at reading other books by this author in the future.
Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie

Elijah is a young man who is a single father to his son Griffin, he has not had it easy with his ex-girlfriend causing him a lot of grief and nearly a prison sentence, but he is needing a fresh start and so he moves to a small town away from his past. Jude is a man who has experienced all the highs and lows one man can during his life with his husband Marcus, that is until he was ripped away from him, since his death, all Jude has been doing is working and drinking himself into oblivion.
On the day that Elijah moves into his new home, he hasn’t got the energy to unpack, never mind anything else, but he knows that he needs food, so he goes to the local diner, but when he returns home, Griffin will not settle, and they end up crying together on the front porch. Jude is about to start his time with the contents of a new bottle until he hears the crying of a baby next door and goes to investigate and finds Elijah and Griffin, he offers to help, and the offer is accepted, although warily, but as all parties calm down, a tentative new friendship forms.
Over the next few days Elijah, Jude and Griffin spend time together, but Jude cannot help but feel that something is wrong, and he follows his instincts, even if it risks losing the two people who have come to mean a lot to him in such a short space of time. Meanwhile, Elijah is begining to form a routine in his life and make friendships he doesn’t expect, however, when his past comes a calling and danger makes itself known, he is terrified and doesn’t know where to turn. As soon as Jude finds out what has happened, his protective nature takes over and he will do anything to keep Elijah and Griffin safe, but will he be able to, and will Elijah let his heart open up to Jude? This is a romantic suspense which will suck you in and leave you wanting to know what happens as you follow along with this sweet romance and the twists and turns within it.

Dinopotamus Solves a Mystery: A scientific method book by Lois Wickstrom

It is the end of nap time at Dinopotamus’s school, but he doesn’t want to wake up because his spot is so warm, however, the other kids in his class want the warm spot, so the next day Dinopotamus let’s them nap there.
Unfortunately, the kids complain that it isn’t warm and so Dinopotamus sets out to solve the mystery of why it is always warm where he sleeps? This is a charming way of explaining a scientific principle which will help young children to understand it.

Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie

I am a huge fan of this author so I knew I had to read Unexpected Heros. I was definitely pleased I did! I enjoyed the story being written in both povs. Naomi Valkyrie made me feel connected to the characters and had me hooked from the first chapter. It was a really good love story without the X rated, in your face love scenes. I would highly recommend this book as well as this author.

Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series by N.L Holmes. I really enjoy these historical mysteries, which are woven with wonderfully rich historical details, texture, depth, interesting characters, adventure, intrigue, suspense, dramatic developments, emotion, tension, secrets, lies, family dynamics, and danger. This series is a direct spin-off from ‘The Lord Hani Mystery Series’, which I also love– but this time we follow Hani’s daughter, Neferet (and friends), as she gets drawn into some very intriguing mysteries.
Neferet (and Co) plunge into another investigation when her uncle gets caught up in a get-rich-scheme where the ‘investors’ begin dying off…. What’s really going on here? With danger mounting, time is running out to get to the bottom of it all before it’s too late.
Another intriguing cozy historical mystery, set in ancient Egypt- with plenty of vivid detailing and descriptions which helped to bring everything to life There is a definite ‘crime and investigation’ aspect to the story- and a ‘whodunnit’ mystery that kept me engrossed as I followed along to find out how everything played out in the end.
Looking forward to ‘Melody of Evil’ (Book #4)

The simplistic ingenuity that this author uses always amazes me. This is such a great way to teach the kids a little science and also have fun. Dinopotamus is a relatable fun character that will have your kid engaged in the book without even knowing they are learning.

A new to me author, this children’s book is very diverse in all of the illustrations and throughout the story. It teaches patience and persistence. Learning can be fun but also challenging. Love that Joe never gives up. I can see this becoming a book put in the rotation for bedtime stories.

While their lives take different paths they both end up Swan Harbor and Cam once again helps Jessie heal. Jessie leaves suddenly and Cam’s heart is broken. Just as Cam is putting his life back together Jessie comes back to town for a friend’s wedding. Will Jessie’s secrets tear them apart or will they fight for their love?
I love a fast paced romance with a little mystery thrown in. I don’t normally enjoy second chance romances but I quite enjoyed this one. Their story is told from a dual POV and includes trips to their past. I felt like this really helped build the characters and helped me understand why they made the choices they did. I also loved the Swan Harbor residents blurb included at the start of the book. It really helped to give a quick overview of all the characters. Sometimes I find it difficult to follow if I haven’t read any of the previous books. Overall this was an enjoyable read!

Kids of all ages will be drawn to the very vivid images in this book. It’s also a super fun rhyming story about a mouse who wants to go to the moon! Mr. Mouse is on a mission but needs the help of other friends on the farm to make this mission a go.
This would be a great addition to any library!

This is an author that I never pass up, and my kids make sure of it! We have read several books by them, and somehow they all stand out in their own accord. We loved reading the other books with Dinopotamus as they are fun and educational. This one was no different! I truly appreciate the way that different communication methods were presented in this story combined with the scientific side. Even though my kiddos are older than the target audience, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This would be a perfect addition for the classroom, daycare, or even at home!

This is a great resource on where to start if you are ever told by your doctor to lose weight and exercise. I heard it many many times. This author is correct in her thinking and information. She goes through each step so you don’t get overwhelmed. Even the comment of “drink more water”, when or how much. It is not just a simple solution. This book will guide you through the questions you need to ask yourself. It is a book that I wish I had read a while back. I tend to be an emotional eater and asking myself some questions has helped. Great beginner book.

This is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series and somehow it just keeps getting better! I had read quite a few different books by this author before starting this series, but it’s definitely my favorite of theirs. I highly recommend that you read the series in order for the best experience and to eliminate confusion. The flow of the story is well-paced, and everything unfolds naturally. Neferet and Bener-ib are some of my favorite characters I’ve come across! I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the twists and turns this story takes you on are amazing. If you enjoy cozy historical mysteries, do yourself a favor and pick up this book (and this series)! You won’t be able to put it down until you reach the end. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

Mouse wants to go to the moon, because he believes it is made of cheese. Most of his friends seem to be supportive of his plan to build an airplane to fly to the moon, and ask him questions about his planned trip. That is, other than, Bird. Bird says that the whole plan is absurd and that it won’t work. Mouse thinks he is wrong, and decides to try it anyway. When his initial plan doesn’t work, Bird explains why he had said the plan was absurd to begin with. The story is cute, with rhyming and a fun and silly storyline. The illustrations are colorful and eye-catching, which is great for a younger audience.

This is a cute book, for young kids who love dinosaurs. Dinopotamus is a dinosaur who attends school with human children. Though he cannot talk, he finds ways to communicate with his teacher and classmates. When he realizes that his spot on the floor is warmer after he wakes up from naptime, he sets out to figure out why it’s happening and how to help his classmates to have a warmer spot for their naps. First he tries trading spots, but finds that to be unhelpful. Then he figures out how to help them all. The illustrations are cute, and look to be hand drawn, and the story is easy for children to understand while teaching children a little bit about science and sharing.
The Predator Part Two by Brooke May

Chamberlain has been on the professional boxing circuit for four years. The entire time, he has been celibate, confident he would find Katie. A private investigator fails to find her. When Katie was disowned, her father sent her to Denver to live with his sister, Jackie. Jackie is a lesbian and has also been disowned by the Cunningham family. Katie was thankful for her Aunt and her partner, Karmin’s support during her pregnancy. She met Beth while she was at a grocery store when her water broke. Beth had helped Katie get to the hospital and stayed while she gave birth to Marissa Fiona Lawrence. Seeing Chamberlain’s Denver fight has Katie scared, but she knows Chamberlain needs to meet his daughter sometime. When they meet at the aquarium, Katie knows that Chamberlain will be a great father to Marissa.
The love story between Chamberlain and Katie continues. I found Chamberlain’s belief in his love for Katie endearing. Scott is loyal for remaining by his side throughout the four years that Chamberlain was searching for Katie. Internet searches, a private investigator, and an attempt to get Katie’s family to tell Chamberlain where she was didn’t dissuade him. Marissa’s sassy attitude and obvious ability to interpret feelings makes her a challenge for everyone. There are several moments in the plot that I wanted to shake Katie for her indecisiveness. Appearances by their past “baggage” add intrigue to the unpredictable plot. By the end of the story, I could see Scott and Beth as a distinct possible continuation of this series. The amazing detail and engaging dialogue add even more depth to this amazing story. This is a five-star romance novel that I couldn’t put down.

Word play: This was such a cute read! Very simple and a quick one. Little Joe is excited for school because he gets to learn how to read, but is disappointed when they don’t dive right in to reading! He actually leaves the school and walks around town looking for someone to teach him to read! Joe is found, goes back to school and happy endings all around.

Wheel of Evil: honestly my favorite book in the series so far! As always, I absolutely love the historical details given for such a fascinating period of time. The characters are so well written and I really feel like I’m actually getting to know them. Once again, Nefet finds herself involved in yet another murder/mystery. This time, however, since the plot involves her uncle with his and the entire families lives and safety at sake, not even her papa can find a valid reason to keep her from investigating. The plot twist at the end on this one threw me! Didn’t see it coming and I love it when that happens. Great read! Don’t have to read the first ones to understand, but I would recommend it.

Jack is talking his dog Shank for a walk. Shank stops to scratch his ear so Jack checks for a flea. But no one could see the flea. In the end Jack and his friends went to the vet and the mystery was solved. This is such a fast, cute read with great detail to illustrations.

Casting Vows is the third book in the Hearts of Gold Series and is a Historical Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I’ve read other books by this author and this may be my favorite yet. I love a good Historical Romance and this one definitely checks all those boxes. The characters are relatable and fully developed and make the story come to life. This is a fast paced story about three people and second chances at love , tough love and past loves. A story that had my emotions all over the place but in a good way. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.
The Apothecary’s Curse by Barbara Barnett

This was a rather complex book, which follows the characters through multiple story lines.
The two main characters, Doctor Simon Bell and his mysterious apothecary Gaelan Elcerdoune
drink the elixir of immortality and now they are essentially immortal. The plot follows these two
characters in different times, their interaction with each other and interaction with other individuals
set in that time. The plot deals with Alchemy, magic and science. It deals with love, lost love and
grief of Simon as he bereaves his wife and wishes to be reunited with her. Gaelan’s long lasting love
with Simon’s sister and a budding love between Simon and another lady he meets in the 21 st
century. Come 2016, a pharmaceutical company is behind their secrets and they have to do
everything in their power to protect their medieval Alchemy.
Overall it’s a very compelling read. The ending was a little open ended, am hoping there is a sequel.
I loved this book.

This is a very easy to read book describing the science behind weight loss. The book repeatedly stresses on the fact that it is the small changes which impact the mindset and inclination towards weight loss. It elaborates on the patterns and the approach to break down set patterns to make sure the weight loss is effective. I struggle with weight loss myself and this was a very informative book, personally to me. I would recommend it to everyone.

Mouse wants to fly to the moon and bring back the cheese. Full of plans of how to get there, the only hitch is the Bird who constantly tells him his idea is absurd. Will his plan work?
This was a fun story. I liked that Mouse had a definitive idea of what he wanted to do but at the same time Bird had a logical idea of why this would not work. Great story for kids to interact with.
Blurring the Lines & Extras by Amy Kaybach

This is a prequel/novella to the Blind Rebels series. I definitely think you want to read the series before you tackle this one. This is a story that revolves around a band that are friends and brothers. I found myself a little lost and definitely wanting more, but at the same time, some things as I kept reading suddenly made sense! I would definitely want to delve into this series. The relationships between the band members are deep and I loved how the author followed their journey.

Joe is starting school and learning to read. After not getting to it in class, Joe decides to look elsewhere for help to learn to read. Joe learns it takes time to learn to read. This is a great story for little ones. It’s shows them to be patient while learning new things and also strangers are not always very nice people. A quick read with excellent illustrations.

“Rock, Crush, and Roll,” Hunter Snow’s first novel, is a captivating read that has everything a reader could want. Tyler has made a vow to not dating musicians she knows what they are like. However, when she meets Cary Kingston, a popular rock star known for his avoidance of relationships, old feelings resurface. Despite her determination to keep her distance, Cary is persistent and refuses to give up easily, determined to prove himself otherwise.
The novel also delves into past hurts and fears, allowing the characters to move forward in new relationships. While there are some steamy scenes in the novel, the story remains mainly plot-focused, keeping the reader engaged and eager for more. Overall, it is a well-written, enjoyable, and relatable story. I am looking forward to Hunter Snow’s next book, as this one provided a great escape for some “me time” and fully immersed me in the musical world.

The story revolves around two men who become immortal after consuming two potions, leading them to question whether their immortality is a blessing or a curse. The narrative intertwines two separate, but interconnected stories set in the modern day and the past, featuring fully realized and appealing characters. One character is grappling with grief, while the other is filled with dreams. Together, they embark on a quest to find the missing book of ancient alchemy, hoping to unlock the key to their plight.
The book delves into themes of destiny, alchemy, passion, secrecy, and more, while incorporating elements of mystery, supernatural, fantasy, urban fantasy, steampunk, and sci-fi. Barbara Barnett’s storytelling makes for a captivating and emotional read, blending humour with a quick pace.
I’m looking forward to reading more from this author, starting with “Alchemy of Glass.” I’ll be sure to share my thoughts once I’ve finished it.
