Dark is the Wood (Enchanted Tales with Dragon Scales Series) by Kristin Ward – Review by La Toya Lewis
Dark is the Wood: A Young Adult Fantasy Romance by Kristin Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Dark is the Wood is a young adult fantasy. This mix of Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast meets dragons takes us on a well-written adventure. Gillian finds herself going to the Shadowlands to save her brother when she ends up caught by the son of The Great Dragon. This book has it all. The world-building is detailed and intriguing. The characters are all very interesting. I can easily see myself reading a story about any one of them. The main character Gillian is easy to relate to. The reactions and decisions she had/made were very understandable. The book pulls you in right from the beginning. The romance was good and not overwhelming. This was an easy-to-read and fun YA Fantasy.
