This is a cute book for young readers, with cute illustrations throughout. Joe finds the letters to spell his own name every morning in his cereal bowl. He’s excited to get to start school, so he can learn how to spell other words and start to find them in the letters of his cereal as well. When Joe finally starts school, he discovers that he doesn’t immediately start learning new words and how to spell them, but starts with other skills instead. At lunch, Joe wanders off to try and find someone and somewhere that will teach him how to write and read other words. Joe wanders from place to place on the main road of his town, from business to business trying to find help, until someone contacts the school, and they come to get him.
