Kat Anderson has run away from yet another temporary home. At 15 she has lost her grandmother and feels very displaced and lost. She finds herself trying to find a safe place to sleep night after night. One such night leads her to witnessing a murder and she now has a target on her back. Maddi O’Hara, a social worker, is called in to provide emergency shelter for the teen. As she tries to reunite Kat with her older brother Nathaniel, who is now her legal guardian, things between the two of them heat up. Will they be able to keep Kat safe and become a family? Or will the man who is after Kat catch up with them and take away the happiness that is just within reach?
