A Safe Place (Philly Heat Series) by Becky Flade is a great romantic suspense

Kat Anderson, a 15-year-old fugitive, witnesses a horrific murder. Maddi O’Hara, a social worker, is called in to give the flight-risk kid with emergency accommodation. It becomes apparent that the man the police are searching for is pursuing Kat as Maddi attempts to bring her and her brother Nathaniel back together. Nate finds himself falling in love with the woman guarding his little sister as the threat increases.

Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. The story really transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down.

A Safe Place: Philly Heat Series, #6

I need a dog like Bravo in my life, think he would get along great with my sweet Daisy. He was such a good boy, protecting Madison and Kat even when it wasn’t necessary.

Madison’s story broke my heart, she built a good life for herself in spite of the tough beginning. She pours her heart into a pretty thankless job to take care of kids who have no one else or could have better people in their lives.

Nate and Kat’s story is sad but not like Madisons, they at least had their grandmother to care for them until she passes while Nate is overseas leaving Kat to fend for herself. She finds herself in a dangerous situation when she sees something she shouldn’t have.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Ms. Flade in the future.

Kat found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time after running from her foster home. Kat doesn’t belong in a foster home, but had no choice following the loss of her grandma while awaiting her brother’s return from deployment. Maddi, a social worker, is the savior Kat needs for so many reasons.

Maddi is lost and alone, some by circumstance and some by choice. Her one goal is to reunify Kat with her brother Nate despite any obstacles that arise. Maddi must stay focused or risk the reunification Kat and Nate deserve. Nate must keep his focus also, or risk pushing Maddi even further away.

A Safe Place is the 6th book in the series, but all can be read as standalone books. The story is well written and full of unexpected twists. I love the way the characters interacted with each other and felt real.

This is the 6th book in the Philly Heat series. I have read these books in order and I can honestly say they get better with each story. The author has a talent for creating stories that captivate a reader and doesn’t let go. With loads of twists and turns I can never tell which way the story is going to go and the characters are written in a way that makes them seem real. So much so that you can’t help but be invested in their story.

Maddi is a social worker who finds herself in charge of the care of a 15 year old who has witnessed a murder. Now Maddi has to try and find the young girls brother to reunite them all while keeping her safe from harm.
However things aren’t so straight forward when the person hunting 15 year old Kat is now hunting Maddi too.
Add to this the attraction that flares between Maddi and Kat’s brother Nate and what unravels is a story of high stakes, where no one is safe and protecting the women in his life also becomes a dangerous game for Nate.
Can the police capture the murderer before they strike again?

This is the sixth installment of the Philly Heat series, and it is just as incredible as the previous five! You can read this as a standalone, so don’t turn away just because you see #6 in the title. After you finish reading it, you’ll find yourself going back to read the rest of the series anyways because it is fantastic! The author has a unique writing style that engages you from the very beginning and before you know it, you’ve devoured the entire book in one sitting. I enjoyed the fast pace as it made it easy to finish this book in one day. The character development really stood out to me as each one was relatable and felt more like catching up with a friend instead of just reading a story. There is plenty of tension to keep you on the edge of your seat. I found myself reading faster and faster as I turned each page because I needed to find out what was going to happen. There were even a few twists that I didn’t see coming and took me completely by surprise. If you are looking for a captivating romantic suspense novel, this one will definitely keep your attention. I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us!

Kat has lost the only person she knows can care for her, and her brother is serving his country. Leaving fostercare her only option when her grandmother passed away. But is it really? Kat has had way too much trauma in her life and it just keeps coming. Now on the run, Maddi, her social worker steps in and tries to protect Kat. But will she be enough? The story is just beginning and the author has so much more to tell. The story is a real page turner and will keep you on the edge of your seat. This story starts on page one and never lets up. So many twists and turns, a real rollercoaster of a ride. This is a must read series! This author has a way with words that will keep you reading. I simply could not stop reading until the very last page. I am looking forward to see where this author takes this series.

I have been a fan of this series since the very first book I read in it! If you love suspenseful books with a romantic storyline, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! It’s great if you can read these in order as there are details that will make more sense that way but if you come across any of them and have to dive in, you’ll be ok and wanting even more to go back to the beginning.

I’ve learned to clear my schedule for the day when picking up one of Becky Flade‘s books as I can’t hardly put them down once I’ve started.

This book is full of twists and turns and made my eyes leak a couple of times. My heart really goes out to Kat and all that she’s been through. Maddi has a heart of gold and I found myself wanting to pull her out of the pages of the book at times. Nate? Well, who wouldn’t want to fall for him!

A Safe Place is book six in the Philly Heat Series. As someone who has read all of the series so far even though they focus on a different couple and can be read as stand alone novels I always like to read everything in order. I can also attest that Becky Flade is a consistent author and this series continues to be intriguing, keeps my interest, keeps me on the edge of my seat, and full of anticipation. There is a lot of suspense, murder, and it tugs on your heart with the foster child aspect. You get some sweet romance, but it’s not overly spicy, which can be a good change from time to time. Another great addition to this series.

This story was suspenseful and attention keeping. I found myself often thinking about the story when I was doing other tasks through the day.

A series of unfortunate events leads young Kat to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. After losing her grandmother suddenly and being thrown into a bad foster home while they try to track down her brother, whom her grandmother named as Kat’s guardian. Social worker Madi is now responsible for fostering, and protecting, Kat while also trying to reunite Kat with her brother. In a turn of events a potential romance begins budding between Kat’s brother and Madi. Will a romance blossom? Read the book to find out.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. This is the sixth book in the series which just keeps getting better and better with each book. This can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading the previous books as well. This is a well written story about Kat and how she witnessed a murder, not only that but she has to be placed in an emergency housing. What happens next is something you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed the characters and what they brought to the story. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story. An engaging story that has a twist of suspense to it. I found this book easy and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing the next book. I highly recommend this book.

This is an interesting story from the get-go! It’s a story about a teen, her brother and dog, and a social worker. The teen witnesses a crime while living out on the street (while the brother was deployed when he became her legal guardian without notice). The social worker has to take on the teen to help and the story tells the story of how all three of them (and the dog) have to work together for their common goal(s). Such an emotional story with so many twists and turns and I didn’t see any of them coming but that kept this story so interesting! I really loved all three of the main characters and enjoyed reading this so much!

Kat is a 15 year old girl who is in the wrong place at the wrong time, but after losing her grandmother Kat feels abandoned and lost so as she is pushed from temporary home to temporary home she comes in contact with Maddi a social worker.

Maddi needs to protect Kat from who is looking for her, while trying to reunite her with her legal guardian her brother who is currently serving in the army and not aware of the situation that Kat is in or danger. Once her brother Nate is back and trying to look after Kat but also struggles with his feelings for Maddi and will she ever be able to give the love back to Nate.

This is the sixth book in the series and as all the books can be read as a stand alone story. The story is full of twists and turns and offers the read a chance to immerse themselves into the story and feel a part of it. I loved the character of Kat although seemingly a tough but had a vulnerability with was great to read.

The love story element between Nate and Maddi was a great layer to the story and with the twists and turns make this a thrilling story to keep you reading to get to the end. I can’t wait to read the next boo in this series.

This is another great book in this series. I really enjoyed all the action and suspense. I could not turn pages fast enough always trying to figure out who and why this is happening. The characters are wonderful and they have quite the backstories. I was really tooting for Madison to finally stop thinking “Everyone leaves”. Those two words really bring a lot to the table and can easily mess with your thoughts. I loved the addition of dog and the child since they both bring a lot to the story and build good relations with Madison. Overall I enjoyed this immensely and look forward to more from this author!

I’ve read every book in the series and thoroughly enjoyed each one ! This one ripped at my heartstrings though for different reasons 🥲
Loving the coverart ❣️📚

Kat is a 15 year old runaway , raised by her grandmother after their parents died and life in the streets isn’t easy and to top things she’s a witness to a brutal murder 🙈so is worker Maddie is her case worker and she’s trying get best to unite her with her brother Nate , he’s in the army and it’s difficult to find him .
Kat’s a runaway because her foster family were awful but on the flip they’re being investigated for suitability , my heart goes out to this poor girl and on more than one occasion I just wanted to climb into the book and enfold Kat into our home and family 🥰🤗

The police are on the hunt for the killer and the killer in turn is on the hunt for Kat , he’s got tie up loose ends and between Nate and Maddie they’re doing everything to keep her safe , deal with betrayal and tragic events but it’s not all doom and gloom, romance blooms between Nate and Maddie and there’s beautiful friendships and family bonds form which did help to calm the nerves 😬 oh and keys not forget about our little four footed friend Bravo , he almost stole the limelight 🤣❣️🐾

A brilliant series and this edition was almost my favourite 🤩

That’s when it gets exciting! Kat witnesses something, reveals some information about her current foster placement, break-ins are happening, chases, and shootings.

In the middle of all of this Nate and Maddi are fighting their feelings for one another. Can they keep Kat safe? Will they solve who is after Kat? Will they give into their feelings?

Read on to find out! I guarantee you won’t put the book down!

She is brought to the local police station for striking an officer. It is there she meets Maddi O’Hara a Social worker who is called in to provide emergency housing for the flight risk teen while they try and locate her next of kin. A Safe Place by Becky Flade – 5 Stars!

This is my first read by Becky. I started with her 6th book in the series and now I HAVE to go back and read the rest!
Becky had me glued to this book from page one! It’s a romance but add the feeling of a now a day crime story. You have a murder, twists and turns and a real feel of what today’s society could be like for kids in the system.
You have Maddie, a former foster kid with no family turned social worker that is trying to protect Kat who witnessed a murder. Kat went into the system after her grandmother passed and they are trying to get in contact with her now legal guardian; her older brother Nate who is currently overseas.
In this book you will see not only romance blossom (very minimal spice) but also friendship and family. You’ll witness the tragedy and betrayal. Just wait for the shocking turn of events towards the end. My husband jumped when I yelled “what?!?”!

I could not put it down! Thank you Becky! I am hooked with your writing and style!

Although this story is about love it isn’t just the romantic kind. We also see friendship and family form. Maddie and Kate bond is just as important as Maddie and Nate. I think Becky did a great job with showing the side of foster care that most of us never experience or hear of. There are some sensitive topics so fair warning before you start.

A Safe Place is the sixth intriguing instalment in the Philly Heat series by Becky Flade. It seems like this series just gets better and better with each new addition, and Ms. Flade has upped the ante here, yet again producing another fantastic romantic suspense. Well-woven with plenty of drama, tension, danger, mystery, tragedy, betrayal, suspenseful developments, emotion, chemistry, intensity, crime & investigation, family, friendship, a ruthless killer, and clever twists- Ms. Flade had me hooked right from the get-go.
This book has all the ingredients needed to keep me engrossed from beginning to end, especially-
-a teenage runaway who is witness to a gruesome murder ✅
-the caring and protective social worker who is assigned to the case ✅
– the teens older, strong, kind, and skilled older brother ✅
-a ruthless killer ✅
-a bit of a game of cat-and-mouse with the killer on the hunt to eliminate loose ends ✅
-suspenseful developments ✅
-chemistry/spice ✅
The Philly Heat series is made up of standalone stories, where each instalment focuses on a different main cast- but there are some interconnected characters/details/threads which tie the whole series together. So, I recommend reading the previous books- to get a firm foundation, and because they are all fantastic reads in their own rights.
As I have said numerous times before, I have really enjoyed this series, and excitedly pounce on and devour each new instalment as they release- and as each new addition seems to slightly eclipse the previous ones, it definitely makes it harder and harder for me to choose a favourite, as they are all so good.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Flade!
Happy reading…

Thank you, Becky Flade!

After losing her grandmother, Kat ends up in temporary foster care while the state tries to find her brother, Nathaniel. When the situation at the foster home leaves Kat feeling unsafe she runs away. While on the street she witnesses a murder and becomes a target. Maddie is the social worker who gets called in to help. She takes Kat home with her until her brother can make it back to town. Maddie and Nate feel an immediate connection. Will Nate be able to keep both Kat and Maddie safe? Will Maddie be able to trust in her feelings for Nate or will he leave like everyone does?

I loved the combination of suspense and romance in this book. The spice level is low but it definitely has all the emotions needed for a good romance. Maddie’s past leads her to be closed off from love and her struggle with her burgeoning feelings is very well written. And with any good suspense, I didn’t see the twist at the end coming at all. I’m looking forward to delving into more of the Philly Heat Series.

The story of Kat, Madison and Nate is a perfect balance of sadness and joy. The care and patience shown for Kat by both Madison and Nate knowing she is going through an impossible situation was glorious. Madison, with her own horrible past, was the adult all foster kids need in their life. She’s caring, patient and kind. Understanding of the needs of Kat. She puts Kat first no matter what. Nate, Kat’s older brother, also puts Kat first. He shows such concern for his little sister and puts her first no matter what. Of course there is everything to love about Bravo, that puppy is the puppy everyone needs.
