This was a really enjoyable YA paranormal romance. It is a story full of magic, myths, danger, romance, ancient goddesses and secrets all set in the boundaries of an academy.
I loved Corisande, she is a character who I really felt for because she sees herself as a monster and finds it hard to believe that anyone can see her as anything more than that.
Corisande is a Siren. She has been cursed with this which means she always has to fight the urge to sing because her song can lure men to their death.
And that’s what happened. One fateful day she thought it was safe to sing her song but it wasn’t safe and all and it brought Noah almost to his death.
After Corisande saves Noah she can’t help but feel drawn to him but she doesn’t understand the reason why. As she gets to know him questions arise that needs to be answered such as should she tell him the truth about what she is? Could there be a connection between his uncle who survived a shipwreck and a past student who saved a human then ended up losing their life?
What happens when a life that is supposed to be sacrificed survives? Does there need to be another person taken in their place?

This story is fast paced and very unique. It is part of a series but you can read this story as a standalone. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read more.
