Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen

Narrated by Hollie Jackson

Five Stars

Life’s a Witch: A Frightfully Fun Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes Series by Carrie Pulkinen. This series is so delightfully funny, with witty dialogue and amazing characters. I think this book is my new favorite. Crimson and Mike have such chemistry and the stuff they get into is hilarious. Ms. Pulkinen’s writing is so descriptive it really makes the characters pop. If you like fast paced fun paranormal romance I would highly recommend this series.

Hollie Jackson has narrated the first three books in this series, and does a wonderful job. Her voice is smooth and easy on the ears. She really brings the characters to life.

Third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. OMG One paragraph in and I was hooked! I loved everything about this audiobook. Crimson Oliver the “bad” witch just can’t seem to get it together.  Things just seem to go from bad to worse for her until she meets her demon Mike, the Devil’s Advocate.

Faced with the threat of having her powers forever bound, Crimson hastily challenges the Head Witch to a battle of magic that she can’t possibly win with her current abilities. Enter Mike, the recovering Devil’s Advocate. Crimson and Mike have undeniable chemistry and are just starting to delve into their relationship when Mike accidentally makes a deal with Crimson to sell her soul to the devil.

This book has me seeking out other books by Carrie Pulkinen!  You won’t be disappointed.

The House that Adelia Built AUDIO BOOK by Mya O’Malley – Review by Amanda DelFemine

Adelia lives the ideal life with love and promise of a bright future with her husband. That all changed when she left to live as a lighthouse keepers wife. The loneliness can really make someone go mad. Her husbands befriends Devon and Adelia ends up falling for him. Adelia is met with Hope that is there to tell her story of love and death. I really enjoyed the twists in the book and Mya O’Malley really made you feel for the characters. I like how she was able to weave the stories into on. I cant wait to read more of what she puts out.

Eye of the Storm: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 2 AUDIO by Amy McKinley-Review by Shadel Ayerbe

Eye of the Storm (Gray Ghost #2)Eye of the Storm by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eye of the Storm: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 2 AUDIO by Amy McKinley was a story of romance. There is suspense in the story as well which makes it ten times better.

A soldier awakens deep in the untamed woods of the infamous Darien Gap. He has no recollection of who he is or why he is thereafter being injured until a gorgeous woman tells him his name. But can he put his faith in her? Mari Dias enlists Chris Shaw’s aid to flee a country dominated by the same family that pursues her in the jungle, where many sacrifice their lives but few survive. As Chris and Mari look for a way out of the forest, filters from his past begin to resurface in little doses. As they get closer, their adversaries become closer as well. Is he up to the task of battling the storm that threatens them all?

I loved every page of it. Each chapter was better than the next. I can’t wait to read the rest of the other books in this series.

I enjoyed listening to this audio.  The narrator’s voice made the story easy to listen too.  They brought life to the story and I could easily see the characters.   I enjoyed them, I found myself easily connecting to them. In this story Crimson’s spells always go bad. When the high priestess threatens to bind her powers, her reaction is to challenge her to a battle that she doesn’t have a chance to win. What will happen when a demon named Mike makes a deal that could change everything for Crimson?  The characters had great chemistry and I enjoyed them.  I highly recommend this audio, it is worth the listen too.

The House that Adelia Built AUDIO BOOK by Mya O’Malley – Review by Lydia Pelton

The House that Adelia Built

Written by : Mya O’Malley

A wonderful puzzle!

I am not one that normally likes the back and forth of time periods, but this was done so well. The past with Adelia and the present with Hope had you putting together bits and pieces of their lives. O’malley did an amazing job weaving their stories together. The twists and turns will have you at the edge of your seat. If you love a good mystery this is definitely the book for you! I am on my way to the authors page now to get more of her books!!

Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Angela Shirley

Eye of the Storm is an action packed story from start to finish, the story is set within the deepest of the jungle but will he be able to trust her or will she turn on him in the end.

This story is full of twists and turns, it will have you chasing the story with each turn of the page to be part of the story as you go. The book is set in the jungle and follows the story of Chris and Mari, as Chris is airdropped into this dense jungle he does not quite reach his destination and becomes stuck and unable to remember who he is and how he has got there, until he meets Mari who helps him try to understand who he is but Chris is no sure he can trust her.

Mari is on a mission of her own, this feisty, strong character who does not take any nonsense, she has grown up in the most dangerous environment but she is on her own mission which she will not defer from.

I loved this story with the twists and turns and the action had me gripped and wanting to keep listening even in the wee hours of the morning to finish this wonderful story. I loved the character of Mari, she was a kick ass women who knew what she wanted and went for it. The relationship between Mari and Chris was dynastic and interesting within the story.

Mari helped save Chris’ life and she believes he will save her in return. Before that can happen, Mari must help Chris recover from his injuries so he can find a way out of the jungle.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Regan Brown does a wonderful job adding to the story with her narration.

Eye of the Storm is the second book in the A Gray Ghost Series by Amy McKinley. I absolutely loved reading this book and truly enjoyed listening to it more. The narrator did an amazing job bringing the story to life. I never thought I would be such a huge fan of Audibles. I’ve quickly become a huge fan of them.
This can be read/listened to as a standalone but I recommend reading/listening to them in order. This is Chris and Mari’s story. He finds himself waking up in the jungle stating into the eyes of a beautiful woman but no idea who she is or how he got there. She may be his only hope of surviving although she has secrets of her own. There on a mission to get to the sanctuary but what happens when revenge may be more important? Find out what happens next in this must read/listen. I listened to this in one sitting only because I had to know what was going to happen next. I can’t wait to listen to more books from this Author.

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Series, book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Bobbi Wagner

This is not my first audio by this author but it is one of my favorites by her.  I enjoyed the narrator’s tone of voice and what it brought to the story.  The narrator brought the characters to life using different tones.  This is a story that brings the romance and action into one well rounded story. The characters bring the story to life with each page.  This is a story about two people who have lives that are not going as well as they expected until a once chance meeting in a coffee shop.   As danger merges and the past comes to the present, the action really picks up.   I highly recommend this audio and this author.

Oh my gosh I LOVED this audible! This story is so much fun, I even laughed out loud at many parts (thank goodness I work from home lol). Mari knows that this man and his family are no good and she must get away if she wants to live a free, normal life. Their days and weeks spent together in the jungle bring them closer and feelings begin to develop between the two. Even though this is a continuation of sorts from Broken Circle, it can be listened to as a standalone.

Broken Circle (Gray Ghost Novel Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

Everything about Liv’s current life is a lie. Maybe all of it was. She was living a great life with her husband, Alexander, and selling her sculptors. When she over hears a phone call that her husband brushes off as just work she becomes suspicious. When Olivia finds out that she is expecting and tells Alex, he plans an impromptu trip to see his mother in Venezuela. While there things take a turn and Olivia discovers things about her husband that she was in the dark about. Who was her husband really? She didn’t know this man at all. She is able to make her escape and ends up with an ex SEAL named Liam. Can she trust him to keep her safe? What will happen when the bad men that are following her finally catch up with her?

I enjoy books by Amy McKinley. There is a little bit of everything in them and this one was no exception.

Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Meg Tyrrell

This is one of my favorite authors and I couldn’t wait to listen to this one. Broken Circle (book 1) was actually the first book by Amy McKinley I’d ever read and loved it. This one did not disappoint. The narrator does a fantastic job and really keeps the story where it should be. One of my favorite series by far and can’t wait for the next installment. This one focused on Chris Shaw and the situations he faces on a mission. We get introduced to Mari Dias who is the love interest in this book. Perfectly done!

Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Kerry Baker

Eye of the Storm Audio Book by Amy McKinley is the second book in the Gray Ghost series. After listening to book one I could not wait to jump straight into this audio book. I was so pleased to hear that it was the same narrator as book one and I found myself drawn straight back into her easy story telling. Again I loved how distinct each of the characters were and how easy it was to visualise everything – even easier than it was when I was reading the series. It is such and exciting book. I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed Chris and Mark’s story. For me they were a couple that worked right from the start and I was behind them all the way. This is a fantastic book and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Kerry Baker

It Broken Circle Audio Book by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Gray Ghost series. This is an absolutely thrilling story that really throws you right into the middle of it.  Even though I had read the book previously when I was listening to this it was like I was experiencing it for the first time all over again. I almost forgot what had happened as I got lost in the narration of the book. It felt exciting to listen to this book and I thought the narrator did a great job. It was clear who each character was and I found picture then so vividly. I found myself relating a little more to Alex while listening to this book, more so than when I read it. This book is just as good to listen to as it was to read and I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the series!!

My Sweet GI AUDIO BOOK by T.L Wainwright – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Four Stars! Loved this book!

My Sweet GI is a story about a young girl growing up in a small city where everything is copacetic. Everybody goes to church, everybody dresses the same, and everyone has the same ideals. When a group of soldiers from America are stationed in this little town, it turns it upside down. All the young women are enthused and all of the mothers and fathers are stressed. This story dives into a world of romance, naivety, temptation, and consequences. I personally got so lost in this story, I felt like I was in it. The narrator has a great accent and the writing is precious. Read this book if you are looking for a cute story about first love and it’s repercussions.

Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Mrs R

I really enjoyed this story. It was action packed from beginning to end and really kept me hooked.

Mari has escaped her old life and is trying to get to the US. She has been betrayed and ends up near guerrilla territory, but is then helped escape again on the understanding that she looks after Chris, who has amnesia. So she looks after him to help ensure her safety, hoping that they can escape before his memory returns.

I liked Mari as a character, she was brave and competent in looking after herself, certainly not someone who would normally need rescuing. Chris has to rely on Mari but desperately wants his memory back.

The slow build to their relationship happens with a drip feed of Mari’s past and Chris’s memory returning, I certainly added to the suspense.

I enjoyed the tie-in to the previous book, although this one can certainly be read as a standalone.

The narrator, Regan Brown, does an excellent job and I loved Mari’s accent, it definitely helped with defining the characters. I would absolutely listen to more of her narration.

My Sweet GI by T.L. Wainwright is a romance story taking place in England during WWII. It is a beautiful story that captured my heart from the start. Jenny is a sweet young woman who meets Teddy when he comes into the shop she works at looking for candy. Even though they’re from different countries, they find a connection that pulls them tougher quickly. What will the war do to this connection?

The narrator Rooke Kingston is wonderful at helping the story along and easily makes us realize each of the characters. Thank you Ms. Kingston for the beautiful narration.

Ready For Flynn, Part 1 (Ready For Flynn #1)Ready For Flynn, Part 1 by K.L. Shandwick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wheww this novel is emotion!!l. There was alot of character and world building in this story, at times I did feel some of this could have been left out as it wasn’t essential to the story, however I felt that by the end of the book I knew the characters well and so I felt their highs and theirs lows with them. I did have to remind myself that Valerie, the main female character, is actually quite young in this novel as I felt there were alot of adult themes for a young woman of 15 to 18 years of age. I liked that the book ends on a cliff hanger as I am now eager to read the next one. I really enjoyed the narration of this book as I felt the narrator really brought the personalities of the characters to life which I feel is important for such an emotionally hard hitting story.

READY FOR FLYNN, PART 1 (READY FOR FLYNN SERIES) AUDIO BOOK by K.L. SHANDWICK – Review by Dani Dando

Imagine meeting the one that you know you are meant to be with, but the timing being all wrong? That’s what it’s like for Valerie and Flynn. Fate for them like to intervene and then sucker punch them for good measure. I’m not kidding, I listened to this in one day, and what an emotional rollercoaster that was.

So Valerie happens to be the little sister to Flynn’s best friend, and though there is that unspoken, or sometimes spoken rule about not touching the younger sister of a mate, neither of them can help the attraction. But as previously stated, Flynn and Valerie don’t do rainbows and ponies, and it takes time before their paths would cross and they could finally meet each other on a level of love and understanding that was always there, it was just too soon.

Honestly, I love how Shandwick tells this story, she really builds the characters and their relationship instead of rushing it. I felt like I got to know the characters as they grew and grew into their feelings, finally knowing them for what they were and being able to express them. There is such love and heart in this book and am excited for the rest of the series. Bring it on.

Flowers in December AUDIO BOOK by Jane Suen – Review by Lizzie Chapman Gough

Flowers in December (Flowers in December #1)Flowers in December by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story is heart achingly beautiful. Connor hasn’t been back to his childhood hometown for over twenty years aside from birthdays and Christmas. However, when his mother dies he has to return to arrange her funeral and take care of her belongings. He finds himself overcome with regret and longing for his past mistakes, grief and love for the mother he loved with everything he had and with hope for his future. The words in this were so beautiful and really got to the heart of the lessons that we can learn from the passing of a loved one and what it truly means to be happy with a well lived and loved life. An absolutely stunning novel.
