License to Bite: A Paranormal Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen

Narrated by Hollie Jackson

License to Bite just made me laugh and feel good listening to it. Carrie Pulkinen is a relatively new author to me, but from the two books I have listened to she is fast becoming an author of choice for me. Jane is hilarious and Ethan is reserved, but together they are perfect. Sophie and Gaston add in the perfect foil to Jane and Ethan. This story was full of witty dialogue and New Orleans charm. I look forward to listening to the rest of the books in New Orleans Nocturnes series.

This is the first audio I have listen to narrated by Hollie Jackson. Her accent was great and she really hit the laugh factor. I will be keeping my out for other books narrated by her.

License To Bite

A Paranormal Romantic Comedy

New Orleans Nocturnes

Book 1

AUDIO BOOK

By Carrie Pulkinen

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

This is a full length audible romantic novel. Let’s step into the paranormal vampire teacher vs student vs romance. The romantic comedy we are looking for.

Jane is the Governor’s daughter who gets what she wants, when she wants. Visiting New Orleans she falls to her demise, waking up dead. Struggling to accommodate her new Death/life. Finding blood is the last thing she wants to do. Oh lets not forget she passes out at the sight of blood. Ethan had his heart broken when he lost his true love. Jane however reminds him of her. Thinking she is reincarnated, he must get to know Jane. Although shortly after marking her, he realizes his mistake. Now he must do what he can to keep them both from getting staked.

Carrie Pulkinen has done it again. This story captivated my interest on page one. The characters Jane and Ethan both keep this comedy going. I have to say this story kept me laughing. As well as cheering for them both. This well written romance was fun to read. I can’t wait to see where the story will take us next. Well done Carrie Pulkinen! Well Done!

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Jennifer Wolbeck

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Broken Circle is a story about how keeping secrets in a marriage can lead to the destruction of a relationship. I enjoyed the themes of love, infidelity, greed, deceit and family that were explored in this book. All of the characters had strong motivations and ties to one another. This is my fourth Amy McKinley novel, and I’m not disappointed. I love her writing style and how she structures her stories. This is also my second audiobook narrated by Regan Brown. I appreciated Ms. Brown’s performance better in this one and felt like she gave all of the characters their own distinct feel.

I do have a few nitpicks. Sometimes, I felt annoyed with the main character, Liv. In the beginning of the book, she was very suspicious of her husband, Alex. She was afraid of infidelity because of how her parents had dealt with it during her upbringing. However, until the second act of the book, I didn’t feel like Alex gave sufficient reasons to be suspicious. Liv felt upset that he was being secretive, but he literally worked in law enforcement to dismantle crime organizations. I didn’t really understand why she felt so entitled to the classified information Alex had to deal with for his job. These are spoilers, but I also didn’t feel like Liv had appropriate reactions when she found out that Alex belonged to a high profile cartel in South America, and she also seemed too careless when she was undercover and trying to run away from Alex’s family.

In the end, this story is definitely a fantasy type of romance. The woman bounces from one handsome, sexy, wealthy man to another. She is always provided for and she always has a man to cherish and protect her. All of the danger and excitement are just twists and turns along the way. If you’re looking for romance that’s tinged with tragedy and adventure, then you’ll enjoy Broken Circle.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Jenique Bornman

I have now read and listened to quite a few of Amy McKinley’s books and this one is by far my favorite.

Olivia (Liv) and Alex have the perfect cookie cutter marriage with all the frills that go with it…… or do they?

Amy took me on a wild rollercoaster ride with this one with some absolutely THRILLING twists and turns.
A wonderful second honeymoon to reconnect and one totally from the left field phone call……..Some secrets just don’t stay secret for long and then Bam!!! add another surprise…… that’s all I’ll say.

Regan Brown breathed something extra into these characters with an excellent job with the narration. She portrayed the personalities of the characters with ease and just enhanced the storie so much more.

With Amy McKinley creating an AMAZING story with superbly crafted characters and Regan Brown bringing those characters to life with the narration, I highly recommend this audio book.

Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Carly Vogler

Eye of the Storm by Amy McKinley is the second book in the Gray Ghost Series, but it can be read as a stand alone story. (Though you’ll want to read it because Amy McKinley writes amazing stories.)

I was excited to find the same narrator performed both stories, as she really helped bring the story to life.

Chris has found himself in a terrible situation. He is alone, injured, and unable to remember anything about his life previously. The lady supposed to be his wife, is by his side and helping, but in trouble herself. Can he save them both and bring back his memory?

Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider – Review by Heidi Schoolman

This is the first book in the series.  This story follows Dahlia Nite, a shapeshifting assassin, who runs from her world to escape execution and hides out in the human world.  When a series of strange murders start to occur, she must work to tamp down the secrets that are trying to get out.  I loved the different characters – dragons, humans, and even half dragons.  Even the two worlds were spectacular in description.  Cannot wait for the rest of the series.

Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider – Review by Jonell Collins

I love a good mystery and I especially love a good thriller. Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider was all that and more. Plenty of action and adventure, plenty of opportunity to try and figure out “who done it” and I really enjoyed Cassandra King’s reading. She gives life to each of the characters and makes the story pleasant to listen to. I’m looking forward to the next one in this series.

Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider – Review by Danielle Dando

Well, this little number officially popped my audiobook cherry, having not ever been a fan of audiobooks, I have always tended towards avoiding them. I’m a bit of a picky sod and if I don’t really like the voice of the person reading it, then I will just zone out and the story is ruined. I was pleasantly surprised though; Cassandra King did a phenomenal job reading some great work by Schneider.

Flaming heck this was a mystery and a half, loved the old-timey cop feel that seemed to permeate throughout as well as the fantasy element of Dahlia being part dragon, part human, twas very interesting, and the other creatures that cropped up were cool. Some of the descriptions were fabulously gross, and they properly made my skin crawl, dumping me right in the moment. I happen to think that action sequences are some of the hardest to write, but Schneider nailed it and I mean, nailed it. All the fights left me feeling breathless, they were snappy and quick, and even though there were lots of descriptions packed into such a small moment, it in no way detracted from the urgency.

Dahlia is a fiery character, both physically and emotionally, she knows her own mind and having been around for quite a bit has seen and experienced a heck of a lot, but home always calls, her past whispering to her in weak moments, fooling her into believing that maybe one day she could return to where she came from and be welcomed by the Dragon Elders. This is foolish and in her more ‘together’ moments, she realizes this, distracting herself with mysteries in the human world. One such mystery happens to crop up, a family having fallen victim to, what looks like, spontaneous human combustion, but she knows that this is not the case, and the hunt begins to find out who of her kind perpetrated such a crime and stop them before they can hurt anyone else.

All in all, I found this an enjoyable listen, I banged it on while I was crocheting and found that it really kept me engaged, holding my breath during the fights, mouth dropping open when Schneider left an infuriating cliff hanger at the end of a chapter. A really good book, full of juicy mystery and some sizzling bits of romance. Honestly give it a go, you can’t go wrong with it.

Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider – Review by Meg Tyrrell

This is my first book by C.L. Schneider. It is not typically the type of book I read but I was intrigued by the synopsis. This was a really interesting book and well thought out, with amazing word building. The main character is a shape-shifting assassin Dahlia Nite. She is part human part dragon. She leaves her home to live on Earth, as she feels exiled for going against her queen. She decides to help the humans survive unexplained creatures as thanks for her not having to be killed in her home realm. All the lies she’s had to tell to keep everyone safe are stacking up, and are getting harder for the humans to believe. The narrator for this book, made this entire story for me. Such a great performance!

You are about to get caught up in this shape shifting, paranormal fantasy. This has become one of my favorite Audiobooks.

Dahlia Nite is not only a shapeshifter, she is a hunted assassin. Escaping into the human world. She takes on the job of protecting the humans. Someone is killing them and she is on the hunt. Now even her friends are not safe. Someone wants to kill Dahlia. But not until they take out all those she knows.

C.L. Schneider has written this intriguing story. She drew me in on the first page, and I could not put it down. Her writing skills show in this story. At times I felt the chills build as the story went on. Be prepared for this heart stopping fantasy. Your emotions will be on high alert as well. Dahlia is a strong independent woman who knows how to get the job done! Enjoy! Well Done C.L. Schneider,  Well Done!

Nite Fire: Flash Point by C.L. Schneider

Narrated by Cassandra King

Five Stars

Nite Fire: Flash Point is the first book in the Nite Fire series by C.L. Schneider. I have to say that the world building and character development is well beyond the usual talent of a new author. This book is amazingly detailed and flowed smoothly throughout. I was hooked from the very first chapter. The story is filled with action, suspense and mystery. Dalia Nite has fled her home planet and taken up residence in the human world. She is isolated and protecting the humans without their knowledge for them allowing her to stay in relative peace. Things start to get messy when more non human creatures start causing trouble, but will Dalia be able to solve the mystery?

This book was narrated by Cassandra King. I absolutely love her voice. She brought the characters to life. I have read this book before listening to it, and I have to say I liked it so much better as an audio, just because in my own mind I was butchering the names and places.

This is a great book and if you like paranormal, I highly recommend this book. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to the next book in this series.

Broken Circle by Amy McKinley

Narrated by Regan Brown

Five Stars

Broken Circle is the first book in the Gray Ghost series by Amy McKinley. This book is a great start to what I hope is an amazing series. At first I didn’t know what to think about it, but the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I spent all day listening and had to charge my ear buds twice , but it was well worth it. Liv is such a strong character. I love how she grew throughout the story. This book is definitely a five + star for me. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the books in this series.

This is the first book I have listened to that was narrated by Regan Brown. I really enjoyed the tenor of her voice. She really brought all of the characters to life. I’m definitely putting her on my go to narrator list.

Stars Fall From the Sky

By K. G. Fletcher

4 stars

This was my first ever audio book and I actually had no idea what to expect – would I like it? Would I be able to get into the story? But I have to be honest and say I was pleasantly surprise. I guess I was a little put off when I saw it was over 7 hours long and as I am a fast reader was worried I would lose interest but I found that I was able to listen at times when reading would have been inconvenient and the time actually went faster than I thought as I was engrossed in Ginger’s story.

I really liked the story, it was an emotional read and the author definitely got the feels across. I did kind of guess what might happen but that didn’t matter because I really liked the characters that I was listening about. Ginger was a sweet character and I really felt for her with everything that happened. Her love for Rusty and Daisy just poured off the pages at the beginning and so did her grief as the story progressed. I could feel the connection she found with Jonathon, I really liked him!!

The narration of the story was good; it took me a while to get used to but the narrator’s voice had a nice soothing, melody tone to it which I found quite relaxing!

I would definitely listen to another audio book from this author in the future.

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Carrie Reed

5 stars!

At first I wasn’t sure where this book was going, so I was kind of conflicted about how I would feel about it in the end. I was quickly sucked into the story and the characters lives. I was not so patiently waiting for the story to continue quickly so that I could find out what role each character was playing and what would happen. Nadia seems like such a sweetheart, I really like how she fell in love with Cade and couldn’t follow through with her mission, and still wanted to get a glimpse of him years later. The fact that Cade has a near death experience and still manages to remember the girl who saved him years prior proves in my mind, that they are meant to be. They both follow their gut when it comes to each other and knowing that they are forever. I really enjoyed the drama the unfolded when Cade’s sister notices Nadia and finding out the organization Nadia works for and why. I was sad to have this story end, I was wanting more but was satisfied with the ending.

The Rest of Forever (Audio Tour) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Kandy Garrett

This story was so different than anything I have read in a while. The characters were well written and the story had a decent pace to it. The narrator did a good job doing the different characters, this was a first time listening to him. I liked the inventiveness of the story itself with the realms and the different types of situations everyone can handle, I was intrigued through the whole book.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Piper Foster

This is the frist book in the Gray Ghost series. Alex and Liv are married couple. This book is full of romance and suspene. Olivia is a very sweet and naivie character at times. I really enjoyed Olivia growth in this book. I really enjoyed the descriptivess of this book its extremely detailed. Amy excced my expections in this book. Wow that was an unexpected twist. A surprise whisk away and a conversation that wasn’t meant to be heard. I love Liam he’s so attentive. I found was the reader read really fast and I struggled to keep up with her at first. I would of like her to speak a little bit slower.

The Rest of Forever (Audio Tour) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Anastasia Dodson

This is my first audio by this author and narrator and I thought it was a great one. I loved the angels and humans mix of it and it was entertaining and it kept me interested because I havent read a story about guardians before. The two main characters were great MC’s. They had alot going on and ALOT of baggage but I love the enemies to lovers aspect and I couldn’t put this one down. I am looking forward to reading/listening to more by this author and the same for the narrator too!

Stars Fall from the Sky by K.G. Fletcher Audiobook

Narrated by Kelly Genelle Fletcher

Five Stars

Stars Fall From the Sky is the second book in the Reigning Hearts series by K.G. Fletcher. K.G is one of my go to authors and this book is one of her best. This book could be read/listened to as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend that you read this series in order. Both books are fantastic and you will get more of the storyline and character backgrounds if you read/listen to Run to the Sea first. This is Ginger’s story and it is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. This book flowed well and had me hooked from the very beginning.

This book is narrated by Kelly Genelle Fletcher who also did the first book. I love her voice. She really brings the characters to life. I believe this narration is better than the first one.

Overall this is a great book, series and author. I look forward to read/listening to the rest of this series.
