Motherland is the third book in the Tom Grant series by Samantha Adair . It’s a fast paced story packed with action and, suspense. The twists and turns will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This is a new author to me but im definitely going to check out what other books she has written. There are a couple of pretty intense moments that I cat I had wanted to help them . Isabella made a promise to her father on his death bed and she’s very determined to carryout that promise. Isabella and Tom have been faced with decisions that could put them in danger. Are there other forces working against them? Can she get done what she’s set out to do? Find out what happens next in this must read. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is one of those stories that will stay with me, it’s been a thrilling ride of a read, and I will be devouring more of this author as I was engrossed while reading. The characters we so well done, they have facets and are believable and deep. With a story that will keep you on your toes at every step, the details to the story are sublime and make it so you can picture the scene so clearly in your mind. I am so excited to read more from this author.

Carnival of Shadows by Leslie Scott a fairground read of a four-star read. This is number two in the Black Water Magic series, and I hadn’t realised before I started this one and I didn’t feel like I missed anything, you took off running and got straight in. Teagan wasn’t someone I warmed to so much, but as the story progressed, I started to really like her, and get to know her better. It’s a very good paranormal story and I have really enjoyed this story. There are lots of elements to this story that get pulled together, and they all pull together to create a good story, there were just a couple of small elements that made me wonder.

From the very first page I was swept away by everything that was Moonlit Kiss by Amy McKinley. The story was captivating and a feeling enhancing marvel. With an original storyline, beguiling characters, mysterious magic and a fairy tale love, Moonlit Kiss was breathtaking. The intimacy Gianna and Sergio shared gave me shivers. Their beginning, middle and ending was so beautifully written, it was like being given a great gift. These types of stories are always so masterfully thought out and presented, and only the elite storytellers can capture an audience to the point of oblivion. Amy McKinley has it going on!!!!!
A hard to put down, easy to escape into romance that will render you speechless and leave you with powerful memories. 5 stars.

Tangled Roots: Witches of Willow Creek is the first book in the Tangled Magic series by Denise D. Young. This is a great paranormal romance with a small town setting, time travel, witches, magic, danger, adventure, drama, agendas, and much more.
I have come into this series a bit backwards, having started on book #2 first, but each story could be read as a standalone, with out feeling lost or like you are ‘missing’ anything. Having said that, I am glad that I went back to read this first book- as it really does set the series off to a great start.
Cassie Gearhart wakes up in 2019- what happened to the last 45 years? She is determined to find out what happened in the ‘missing’ time. Her coven is gone- and the only potential help she can find doesn’t want anything to do with witchcraft and magic. What will happen- especially with danger approaching? What ensues makes for a fantastic story about a witch lost in time.
Can’t wait to continue the series.

Competing With the Star is the second book in the Star series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It follows on from the first book, Next Door to a Star- so I recommend reading that book before starting on this one. It will give you all the background information, character introductions, and other important information which will enhance your reading experience of this book.
Something Ms. Hager does well is write from a teenage perspective- delving into all the issues, drama, and angst that plague our teenage years. But her story is also full of emotion, young love, heartache, jealousy, betrayal, assumptions, insecurities, rumours, and friendship- giving us a window into high school life.
Hadley Daniels ‘perfect’ life is about to get a bit of a shake-up…. Life in Grand Haven seemed to be the answer to all her prayers- so what could possibly go wrong? Dive in to find out.

The Rise Of Manifesto The Great: A Sci Fi Comedy Where Women Wear The Trousers (Planet Hy Man #1) by Kerrie Noor makes for quite an original read. It is a Sci-fi romantic comedy- a battle of the sexes set on the planet Hy Man.
It is quite spoofy and satirical- which did make for some humorous moments. But I found it all a little overdone- and because of that I had trouble connecting with the story and the characters. I spent a lot of the story frustrated with the whole spoofyness. Maybe that is because I have just come from reading a dark detective series, so I will give this book the benefit of doubt and go back to reread it in a month or two, to see if I still feel the same way.
I would like to explore more of Ms. Noor’s work to get a better feel of her style and what else she has done, so stay tuned.

House In The Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall is a tightly woven and very engrossing mystery jam-packed full of suspense. As expected, Ms. Aiken-Hall completely captured my attention- keeping me glued to the pages, avidly reading along to find out what happens. The story is full of intrigue, secrets, tension, emotion, and surprising developments that made the story quite unpredictable.
This is very cleverly crafted- and made for another riveting read- I can always count on Ms. Aiken-Hall to deliver an unputdownable read! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

The Divine Devils is the first book in The Divine Devils series by R. Weir. This is a fantastic crime thriller- with plenty of mystery, suspense, danger, hidden agendas, investigation, intrigue, tension, violence, and action.
I love Mr. Weir’s Jarvis Mann Detective series, so when I saw that he had written a new book, and it’s the start of a brilliant new series, I couldn’t one-click fast enough. I also love that Hunter is quite different to Jarvis (from Mr. Weir’s Jarvis Mann Detective series)- bringing his own complexities, quirks and flaws to this new series. I was completely invested in the story, and the characters, right from the beginning- following along trying to figure everything out as the story unravelled.
Hunter Divine is a former US Marshall who comes with a lot of baggage. He moves from job to job, pay check to pay check, trying to forget the past- but not able to truly move on; self-medicating with sex and alcohol as a means to try to get by. He is definitely a little broken- but remains great at his job. So, when a former lover contacts him with an urgent request, he can’t say no. Her children have been targeted by kidnappers who have struck twice now- the children barely escaping the latest attempt. Hunter will need to dig deep and use all his skill and training in order to keep the children safe and figure out who is behind the kidnapping plots, and why the children were targeted in the first place. So, buckle up, and get set for a thrilling ride.
I know I keep saying this, but Mr. Weir has out done himself yet again! This is such a superb story that held me in its grip from beginning to end. It is a complex and multi-layered storyline, resulting in quite a gripping tale. I think it’s definitely one of the top three reads of his, so far!

Set in Stone by Dakota Willink is the 3rd book in The Stone Series. I love the the story and the characters are well written. Both Alexander and Krystina seem to have it all but we find out that things aren’t quite right between them. Both of them are hiding some secrets from their past. Will the secrets destroy their relationship or will they work through it? The story has romance, suspense, a bit of intrigue, and some steamy scenes. The most unfortunate part for me is that I did not read the first two books in this series. It took me a little while to get a feel for Alexander and Krystina’s relationship but overall I really enjoyed the book. I will be checking out the fist two books very soon!

Lacy Laurel and Jeffrey Kafer are the narrators of this audio book. They both did a wonderful job keeping the different characters easy to recognize and understand. The book is written so we are treated to both Alexander and Krystina’s side of the story. The wonderful narration made this book extra a special!

The new stories of the frightening ways love can manifest are interspersed with haunting love poems. Each tale takes you to the edge of your seat. Will strangers risk everything for each other? Does true love last through the centuries? Can beings see past their differences or long-held beliefs to find true love?

One of the stories that had me gripping my pillow was Reflections of the Past by Melody Calder. Mary’s story started with feeling out of place where she should have felt at home. The chances Mary took to find belonging led her to real love. When everything in Mary’s world is destroyed, she finds a way to get her revenge. Sins of the past haunt Lia in ways she doesn’t even know yet as Mary’s vengeance collides with Lia’s heart. With Lia’s understanding, Mary is finally able to find peace.

The other story that caused my pillow distress was Runes and Fangs by Victoria Larque. Kayla has every reason to hate after what she has gone through. Minette should feel the same way but doesn’t let her light fade because of the actions of others. When Kayla first meets Minette, Minette should cower but doesn’t. Minette finds it within herself to be strong. Kayla should despise Minette but can’t seem to feel anything other than protective. Together, they seem to be able to accomplish the impossible while finding love.

Lindsay Hager has done it again. I loved the first book in the Star Series, and “Competing with the Star” is even better. This book is great for young teenage girls who are looking to find their place in the world of high school. The characters are well developed and their stories are those that you could find in any high school in America.

Starting her sophomore year, Hadley finally feels like she has everything she ever wanted – a good group of friends and a boyfriend. Hadley had always felt ugly and belittled in school up until this year. Now, one of her best friends was a TV actress, Simone Henderson. And her boyfriend is well…perfect. Nick likes baseball and basketball which she does as well, and she can just be herself without all the pretending that other girls do.

Then, Hadley overhears a conversation in the bathroom about Simone and Nick. Her worst fears have reared an ugly head. Only nothing has really happened except now she doesn’t know what to feel. Should she feel betrayed, jealous, and feel lucky that she’s Nick’s girlfriend and not Simone.
Can Hadley come to terms with her own feelings? And how will things be with her and Nick after a misunderstanding involving Simone?

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance (Moonlit Destination series) by Amy McKinley was a really good read. I was highly anticipating this book release, because her other books engrossed me so much when I read them them I just can’t get enough. I think I had an off reading day however, because this one just didn’t seem as exciting to me. The story was incredible, and it had an amazing romance that absolutely transcended time! This book reminded me so much of one of her other books, Fake Fiance with the past lives bit. I just personally felt like this one drug on a little bit, and I had trouble becoming enraptured like I have with her other ones. I think it was because I couldn’t get the scenery to set itself in my mind and because of that I drifted a lot. But either this book had an incredible storyline and I can’t wait the next book from McKinley in the future!

Eleanor has beautifully written this paranormal fantasy tale and it will be liked by young and old. It is easy to picture the world and characters that Eleanor has woven due to her vivid writings, and you will be delightfully drawn into solving the mystery along with a brave little girl, Tally. This little gem is centred around Tally who is 13 years old and on a trip to India with a very special necklace. She soon finds herself in the midst of a mystery and sets out to help.

I enjoyed reading this YA book about angels vs. demons! It’s the kind of book that sticks with you when you have to put it down and do real life things… but REALLY you want to keep reading it and NOT put it down.

I appreciated that there wasn’t bad language or over sexualized characters. It is beautifully written from multiple points of view. The author did a fabulous job of writing their views in such a way that you were drawn in by each character’s thoughts. The world building was fascinating and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This is a spin off series and I have not read the original trilogy it’s based off of but you better believe that I will be soon!

Mornin the Super Bird: Mornin Finds a Way to Stop Extinction is written by Jules Heartly and illustrated by Diego A. Diaz. Mornin, the Super Bird, is out to share the message about extinction and saving nature. Mornin takes daily flights and videos of things he sees. When he notices that animals and nature are becoming extinct, he creates videos to share with his bird friends. After a while, they begin to spread the word, through these videos, to other animals and then to humans.

The writing is easy to understand. It includes lines of poetry and sing-song lyrics. It is a wonderful book to read to young children to help them understand what extinction is and how they can do their part to stop the spread.

And I’m still hooked! Krysten did such a great job telling Hadley’s story and relating it to the high school relationships that I remember. It is so difficult when growing up to truly understand who your real friends are, who can be trusted, and when people are manipulating you. Hadley has to deal with a former TV star and her clique without ever knowing if any of them are truly friends. Her boyfriend Nick seems like the perfect first boyfriend for any high school girl. Jealousy and doubt are constantly on her mind and at times it seems that her worst fears are coming true. This was a great continuation of the series. I loved seeing the changes that are taking place within the girl group and watching Hadley grow more comfortable with herself and her new home. I look forward to continuing this series and seeing where everyone ends up. Keep ’em comin, Krysten!

I had no idea that this was the start of a spin-off from another story. This felt like it was perfect as a brand new book with a future sequel to explain all of the *events* that transpired when Zoey was younger. I went into this series feeling that I wouldn’t become as hooked to it as I was to other books of this type.. and I was absolutely wrong. Misty Hayes did a fantastic job of laying out the characters and the storyline in such a way that you never saw what was coming next. The beginning of the book feels slow moving but as the chapters go on, the story just keeps getting better. The ending left me desperately wishing there was more story to read. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Jessica Aiken-Hall has done it again with this novel. I can’t get over how much this resembles a true crime instead of fiction. When Molly comes home for the summer, she is in charge of taking care of her mother who is has dementia. When her mom comes up missing, she starts looking. When a missing flyer surfaces from 20 years ago, Molly decides to not only look for her mom, but to put the clues together about the other missing woman. Jessica Aiken-Hall is a wonderful author. I can not put her books down when I start reading them. From start to finish, you will be pulled right into the novel. This is one author that I can definitely recommend to readers of crime or any other novel for that matter.

Okay, books like this one are some of my favourite, I love angel and demon stories. So, going into this one I did have some expectations. The Don by Hazel Storm definitely did not disappoint. Just have to say, wow! This was a book that I enjoyed immensely, more than a lot of ones I have read recently. I was intrigued through the whole story. I read it so fast, I needed to know what happened next! The characters were very well written, they made you want them to have happy endings, cheer for them. I can’t wait to see where everything goes in the next book in the series!!

Beneath The Surface Audio Book by Amy McKinley is the third book in the Gray Ghost series. With this book you are hooked straight back into the world of the Gray Ghost team with such ease. This story slightly overlaps the previous one in the series and I love you get to see that build up to it all.

Jack and Hannah have to be one of my favourite couples – although with this series I probably say that about them all! To have a history already in place but to have to build up the trust bit by bit was such a fascinating read. What I really enjoyed about this book though is the flashbacks to Hannah’s childhood and how I kept trying to piece everything together.

I have to say that the author us struck gold with the narrator for this series too. I think I enjoy listening to these as much as I do because of her. She has a way to tell the story that just makes it so easy to become absorbed in. This is another fantastic book to another fantastic series. I am already looking forward to the next one!

This is a very dark and twisted book straight from the get-go. The obsession with fire and burning buildings, cars, and animals is heavy throughout. When 16 year-old Jameson finds a book in his attic detailing his father’s addiction to arson, he feels a connection to a man that has long been missing from his life. He is a boy who has grown up wondering what his dad might be like, and imagining who he might be. With this book, he starts to feel a connection to the mystery man, and sets about trying to follow in his pyro footsteps. The desolation of the characters in this book seeps into you; it is the deep ache of knowing yourself to be doomed. The story sometimes blindsides you with shocking events, punctuating the gloom with fresh horror. The writing skillfully conveys a lot of emotion and psychological torment. If this sounds like its up your alley, give it a go.

Love witchy fiction?? Then this is the book for you! I found this book fun to read. I very much enjoyed it! First in it’s series, and a perfect start to a wonderful series too! Tangled Roots is a well written paranormal read with it’s fair share of magic, mayhem, and suprising twists! Welcome to Willow Creek where magic is no hidden secret. Love small town settings. The storyline is delightful. The characters are great, likeable and very well developed. Such a quick captivating read! The story does end in an interesting spot, so of course I NEED to read the next story to find out what happens. Can’t wait either!!

I truly have to say this book is unique. This book spoke volumes to me about soul mates and true love. I highly recommend this book, I absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to see what else C.R. Robertson comes up with next. I’m waiting in anticipation.
