Slash & Burn (Nite Fire, #4) by C.L. Schneider is a supernatural shifter story and another wonderful addition to the series. The books should be read in order or you are behind the eight ball on the background of the characters and the world around them. C.L.’s word building is spot on when you can vividly imagine the world in which they fight to live. Her writing is enticing and engrossing, and the characters are interesting. The urban fantasy has intrigue and action will keep you engaged throughout and take you on a journey where there are supernatural beings, demons and humans live and fight.
Dahlia Nite is brash and kickarse, loud and sassy. She is also half human half dragon. She fights to protect others. This is a vigilante you want on your side.
I recommend this book and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Vengeance (The Sundown Series Book 5) by Courtney Konstantin is a YA Sci Fi paranormal story. This dystopian post-apocalyptic tale is a dangerous and emotional journey and great addition to this series. I have said it before but I am not a zombie lover, but Courtney has made this story unique and the plot different enough to entertain me. Courtney’s story is an original twist with lots of action and danger, drama and is so very engrossing. Her superb word smithing and vivid writing style, is very descriptive and makes it seem like you have been immersed in the story and fighting to survive. I had to keep turning the pages because I needed to know what was happening next.
Max is our MC and Courtney certainly puts her through the wringer.
If you love a thrilling and intensely gripping, then this is one for you.

Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3) by Carrie Pulkinen is a fun paranormal rom com mystery thriller (try saying that drunk). I am in love with this series as it is nonsensical and has just the right amount of sizzle. Carrie knows just how to draw in her audience with her fantastic writing and characters that are well developed, quirky and lovable. It’s easy to get lost in the paranormal world that she creates as she always gives us a little something extra. It is great entertainment.
Trent inherits a house from his surly ungrateful great uncle. After visiting the house he decides that he needs to say goodbye to it ASAP which brings him face to face with the temptress.
Tina agrees to help Trent sell the house but it soon it becomes apparent that the house comes with a little something more.
Unfortunately, this is the last book in this series, but I look forward to the next ghostly feel good tale from Miss Carrie.

This is the first book I have read by Nikki Vale and what an awesome read! She really knows how to tie the story together. Weaving the past and present together! The descriptions and details make you feel like you are there. I love Kendyll as a character! The mystery of this romance will keep you reading for more. This was my first read by Nikki Vale but won’t be the last!
I give Goddess of Everything by Paul DeBlassie III, 4 stars.
This was a very unique and interesting story. The way it is written reminds me of the stories passed down from generation to generation by the peoples whom have roamed this earth for many, many years. It also seems fable-like, there is definitely great wisdom to be found within the story. The author has a very unique style of writing, relying less on spoken dialogue and more on giving us very detailed descriptions of what exactly is happening. I will admit, it took some getting used to, but once I got used to it, I was pulled in. This is the essential good vs. evil, but the evil is in hiding. I could not wait to find out who would prevail.
This is very much an adult book, as some of the subjects maybe disturbing to the younger people and hose fainter of heart. That being said, if you are interested in a suspense/horror tale with supernatural elements that also teaches you a lesson, this book is for you.

“Where Flowers Bloom” is a very unique story about two brave women’s lives, one past and one present, that were destined to be told simultaneously. Both women find love, but lose themselves in the process.
Nikki Vale’s writing is fun to read and extremely hard to put down. I actually read 1/3 of the book in one day.
The realistic historical accounts made the supernatural aspect of her book valid and inspired. Kendyll and Rose’s stories are beautifully written and will entrap your attention until the end. The book is extremely well-rounded and I would recommend it to anybody who would love an addicting book that keeps you guessing.
Where Flowers Bloom: A Romantic, Modern to Historical, Mystery By Nikki Vale
This book drew me in and I was hooked. It had romance, mystery, past, present, and plenty of emotion. The history in this house was so interesting to read about. When Kendyll decided to buy the house based on a feeling she had when Violet showed it to her and aunt Aster also knew she was the one, I knew there was more to this story than meets the eye. There are great characters in this story. There were unexpected moments in this story and most surprising was the ending. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say this author definitely knows how to tell a story that I enjoyed very much. I highly recommend this book.
Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale was a great and intriguing read! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I definitely wasn’t disappointed. I honestly didn’t want to put this book down. It was extremely well written, with some great characters and storyline. The imagery in this novel was amazing. I felt like I could picture everything perfectly just from how well written it was. This is my first time reading from this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and can’t wait to read more in th future!
Where Flowers Bloom was amazing! It was my first book by Nikki Vale, and I didn’t want to put it down. I was hooked from the very beginning with Kendyll’s dream, and had to know what happened next. The story was 2 stories, that came together at the end. Kendyll and her fiance Vance moved, in order to start fresh as a hope to rekindle their relationship. She buys a run down house, without even touring it, because it speaks to her. There is so much happening in the story, and there is never a dull moment. I don’t want to give anything away, but I love the characters. Vance comes off as a jerk, but then we see another side of him; Aster seems like a crazy old bat, but we soon discover how amazing she is. Kendyll was hoping to restart her relationship with Vance, but soon earns a new family in Violet, Wes and Aster. And then there is all of Kendyll’s dreams of Rose and Everett- which takes place in the slavery days. We get to see first hand what life could be like on a plantation, and the hardships surrounding it. This story is wholly unique, and I highly recommend it! The title itself is unveiled to have such a deep, beautiful meaning. So glad I chose this book, and I can’t wait to read more by Nikki Vale!

This book is an intense read centered around a romance writer, Kendryll, who is in the middle of a rocky relationship. Determined to give her relationship another chance and a fresh start, she decides to buy a property in an ancient plantation. She falls in love with the plantation, but she keeps debating why she is drawn towards this place which had once housed several black slaves. She dreams about the people who used to live there. She is also attracted to a white man, who is helping her restore the house, which is strictly forbidden in her family. Unable to decide if the house is playing its tricks on her, or is she genuinely falling in love with someone, Kendryll has confused feelings leading her to unravel more secrets of the hidden past of the house to determine her future. It is a little complicated plot, as it draws parallels to what happened in the house in the past to Kendryll’s life. But it is indeed a very fascinating story, there are times when I had to reread certain bits to understand what is happening. But overall, quite an interesting read.
Gunner: An Eidolon Black Ops Novel by Maddie Wade is full of suspense. There is also romance, and action making it so much better.
Gunner Ramberg is a man full of sins, hoping he can do his best to wish it away one day. Lacey Canon, an ex-model who had her life turn upside down by a man that hurt her more than anyone can. She decided to settle down away from the drama. Gunner Ramberg works in private security and his life is all drama. After a chance encounter can they make it work?
This book is a series book and it’s book 6 in the series and there is more to come. I enjoyed reading this story. The suspense and action made the love story so much more enjoyable.

It sucks you right in. When Kendyll searches for a new home for her and her husband Vance, she ends up dismissing his wishes to find a more modern house and decides to purchase a grand plantation home. With the help of her new friends, Kendyll begins fixing up her new home and makes some startling discoveries along the way. This book is full of history, intrigue, and steamy romance. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Just thinking about this book is bring tears to my eyes. Learning to Live by Kira Adams was emotional, beautiful, and unexpected. As this was a new author to me, I didn’t know what to expect but I can tell you that what I just read was not it. Ciera and Topher were two people that should have never been friends but they were what the other needed.
Kira brought me to a full emotional state reading this story. Her writing made me feel like I was alongside these characters and feeling everything they were going through. I was an ugly crying mess after reading that ending.

This novel is a Thriller and is just under 200 pages. This story follows Gabriel, a psychiatric healer, Consuela, his wife, and Juana, his mother. He tries to counsel the children at the orphanage and when Gabriel discovers children come up missing with no explanation, he starts asking questions that his mother does not like. His wife pushes him to discover these children are being sacrificed. This ritual is done to make Mother Superior and her nuns immortal. Then the unthinkable happens. Dear mother has kidnapped their four-year-old son. This is most definitely one of those books that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Another fun paranormal romance by Carrie Pulkinen, with a ghostly twist. Gage Dawson is an IT genius and a paranormal investigator but he is terrible at dating. However when he meets childhood best friend Erica again he is determined to tell her something that he never did in high school and that is that he loves her. Erica Miller is a Psychic medium who is struggling to make her haunted community theatre into a success. When Erica has problems with a ghost and it starts effecting her health she turns to paranormal investigator Gage. She is shocked to find that her once nerdy best friend is now rather sexy and neither of them can deny the chemistry between them. They just hope the spirits won’t come between them. I enjoyed this friends to lovers romance and loved Erica and Gage’s characters and how their relationship developed and changed throughout the book. The attraction between them definitely came across in the narrative and led to some steamy scenes. The storyline flows well and the plot kept me engaged in the story from start to finish. It can be read as a standalone story although the characters do pop up throughout the series of books. This is a lighthearted read which offers some real escapism to the reader and Pulkinen has become one of my favourite authors.

4 stars! It is a bit dark, but the story had me captivated, I could not put the book down. What a fun read, and fun in the sense that the mystery, story and characters were so detailed. Gabriel and his mother’s relationship seems weird to me, and when Gabriel tries to discover why the children at the orphanage were going missing, she gets upset with all the questions. It is interesting to watch the inner turmoil in Gabriel as he wrestles with his love for his mother and his wife Consuela. The twists and turns throughout will keep you engaged and wanting more. I am very please with this book and will now be looking into more books by this author.

Vengeance by Courtney Konstantin is the fifth book in Sundown Series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the other books the author sets this up as an excellent standalone. Max is on a dangerous path and coming back from being tortured. Can she handle the pressure that is mounting more and more? I really enjoy Max because she is strong-willed and determined. The story building of a dystopian future is well done allowing one to be taken into the story. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read a dystopian book at the moment with the pandemic going on but this actually was well done and didn’t disappoint. I have only read a few of the books by this author but I will be looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

It’s not often that you pick up a book which you then literally can not put down but this is definitely one of those. I was hooked from page one and I just kept happily turning the pages. ‘Where Flowers Bloom’ is a mix of history, romance, mystery, paranormal and race issues all mixed up in a wonderful written story. When romance writer Kendyll agrees to move to a small town in North Carolina with her fiancé Vance in the hope of saving their relationship she does not realise how her life is about to change. As soon as Kendyll views a rundown estate she discovers that it is actually whispering to her of its past secrets. Having employed contractor, Wes to do up the old mansion, Kendall finds herself drawn to him and he makes her smile again. Although Wes attempts to keep his distance not wanting to come between Kendyll and Vance he finds the attraction between them too strong to ignore. Kendyll also starts having dreams about events that happened in the past on the estate and learns that it was involved with slavery. As a fiction writer Kendyll likes to write fairytale endings but really she just wants one for herself and finds she has a choice to make to reach her own happy ever after.
The descriptive narrative really brings both the past and the present settings to life which made me feel immersed and engaged in the story. The characters are likeable and relatable and again the author made them come alive and I found myself thinking about them long after I had finished the book. The storyline flows well, and is written in away that tells two stories at once without the reader getting confused. One a love triangle between Kendyll, Vance and Wes in the present and then through Kendyll’s dreams the story of the estate in the past and the effects of slavery. The story has so many different layers to it, from a steamy romance with a touch of the paranormal to a story about slavery, race and interracial dating, that it really is an original and unique read. Nikki Vale is a new author to me but I now look forward to reading other books by her.

Gunner: An Eidolon Black Ops Novel by Maddie Wade. This is such a good book, so full of emotions and tragedy. Its the story of Ramberg who is dealing with the ghosts of his past including almost losing his sister because of his actions. He is spending the rest of his life making up for that and trying to be a better person. He went to Eidolon because he thought they would be the family he never had but due to circumstances out of Gunner’s control he had to betray them so they have outcast him. Gunner is pretty much to the end of his rope and just wants to end things until he meets Lacey Canon who has walked away from fame due to a broken heart, to come home to a quiet life. When she runs into Gunner, a man who saved her life at one point she can’t quit thinking about him but when they spend a night together she is even deeper in but she finds out Gunner is fighting demons from his past. Will she be able to break thru those walls he’s put up and help him let go of the guilt he carries?

Goddess of Everything by Paul DeBlassie III 4 Star!!!!
I took a little break from my favorite genre to read the second book by this author. I was taken down a supernatural mystery road full of intirgue and drama. I was definitely on the edge of my seat reading this book. The author has really written a chilling supernatural thriller that grabs the reader and keeps you till the end.
I found that I was really sympathetic to Consuela as she tries to open her husbands eyes to the evil that is his mother. It really is a complex story and I like how the author is able to keep the flow and drama going. It is so hard to see the evil in those we love or those whom we are supposed to respect. I find that the author has really written a good plot and you can feel the inner struggle of Gabriel as the book goes on. I must admit that even though this is not my go to genre it was a nice escape for a lazy Sunday.

This book was by far the most interesting short story I’ve read in quite some time. I think it took me 30 minutes to finish it. I couldn’t stop reading. It was really that great! I don’t want to give too much away in my review, but I absolutely recommend it. The word building is fantastic. The way Maria was able to create such a detailed and complex story in a short amount of time is crazy to me. Worth every second I spent reading.

This is the last of this series. While I liked Gage and wanted his ever after…I can’t say I loved this book. It’s a second chance romance with some ghost issues. The story just didn’t call to me but it could others. I didn’t feel connected to either character other than the evilness from the mirror. It was easy (for me) to figure out how this one would go. The characters seemed indifferent. While Gage is a good secondary character he needs more to hold his own as a lead. His sisters did not really add to the picture.
So overall I usually enjoy this authors imagination but this one fell flat for me. It just didn’t grip me and make me not want to put it down. The evilness in here made this one a little dark. Not my cup of tea but it could be yours.

I literally cannot get enough of the way that DeBlassie writes, I have read some of her other stuff and I adored that just as much as adored this, even this with its darker notes. Even the subject matter, being a little bit grim still had the same poetic lilt to it that I have come to expect from DeBlassie’s work. It was fantastic, some of the lines just seriously took my breath away, and I found myself reading this short number over and over again between the other books I have been picking up. Just like the other works of DeBlassies I have read, I wished there was more of this, seventeen pages just is not enough. I cannot recommend this short little number enough, it is fantastic and beautiful even with all its grimness.

This was an interesting read; I really loved the historical element and I thought that it was handled with consideration and respect. As romances go, I’m not usually a massive fan but this had a softness to it that I adored. Vale has an addictive way of writing that gets right to the heart and soul of people which I love. Kendyll writes romance stories but her own relationship with her other half is far from perfect. Believing they need a new start, somewhere fresh and far from all the problems they have so getting a chance to move somewhere new seems like a dream come true, even if the house they are supposed to move to does have a sketchy past. In spite of the place being known for its Plantation history, Kendyll can’t help but feel drawn to it and once she takes on the place as her own, she starts having vivid dreams that feel too real to be her imagination. Added to all of this is her connection to the man Wes who is helping her fix up the place, she can’t help her growing feelings for him, even if they are frowned upon by her family, and of course a little dodgy considering she is already in a relationship. I really enjoyed the journey this story took me on and thought it was a compelling and well-thought-out romance that is well thought out and worth your time. Give it a read.
