Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Sara Oxton

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley a thrilling five-star read. This is number five in the Grey Ghost series and it could be read as stand-alone but honestly, I have read it as a series and loved it as such. This series has just ramped the drama and action up notch by notch. I love that Jules Moretti is such a good character, she is more than just the female lead, she is brains beyond belief and I was reading this one with all the news about an outbreak of a new flu and I was wishing that Jules was real, I am sure there are many people like her, but Jules just had a little extra something. This was a great compliment for the series and number six can’t come soon enough.

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Angela Hayes

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Runaround is the sixth book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. It is a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy. It may be the sixth book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. But, after reading this book, you will definitely get a taste for Ms. Stewart’s stories, so be prepared to want to go back to read the other books in the series, too.
I loved the funny, flirty banter between the characters. It really made the story for me. Jax and Ari certainly give, and get, The Runaround- and I enjoyed following along for the ride.
This is a sweet, steamy, funny and very entertaining story. Such a fun read!

Thank you, Ms. Stewart!

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander. This author never disappoints me, she’s definitely becoming one of my top favorite authors. Every book draws me in completely and this story was no different. From start to finish I was completely hooked. Sarah and James have a chemistry that jumps off the pages and you find yourself completely lost in their world. Both looking for short term fun times and find themselves drawn to each other. The characters are complex and well developed. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m so excited for book 2 can’t wait to be with these characters again. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Sky to Sea (Crimson Sash Book 2) By Amanda Marin
Sky to Sea is the second book in Crimson Sash series by Amanda Marin. I do recommend reading this series in order as it will give you better enjoyment and help you understand what is going on. I pretty much stayed on a emotional rollercoaster ride throughout this whole book. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down. This story is about Micah, and Neve who is trying to prove themselves to gain there citizenship. Something’s are not easy. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next . Find out what happens next. Do they gain there citizenship? What does their future look like? I highly recommend reading this Book and I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Broken by Love (The Full Circle Series) by MJ Masucci – Review by Heather Lovelace

Broken by LoveBroken by Love by M.J. Masucci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beautiful cover and intriguing synopsis had me adding this to my “hurry and read” list. This author is new to me and I was eager to be introduced what I anticipated to be a highly emotional read.

All of that to say, while I enjoyed the premise and felt myself get invested quickly, I as quickly found myself frustrated with the characters much as I would a friend, wondering why they would do what they did. In that way, I applaud the author for making the characters relate to me on a level that I was invested and questioning them, not sitting removed from the plot not caring what happened next.

Overall, I found it to be intriguing and attention grabbing. I look forward to reading more in the series.

Broken by Love by MJ Masucci was an intriguing second chance romance story to read. I wasn’t sure how I would like it after the synopsis but decided to give it a try. I didn’t become as connected with this story as I have in other books, but I still really enjoyed the book. The main characters of this story are Lexi, Noah and J.C. who were interesting to learn about. The more I read I did find myself unable to put the book down. Would recommend! I am looking forward to the second book.

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Shani Kenny

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jax is a guy who is in it for a good time when it comes to relationships, or in his case, hookups. He works hard and plays just as hard. He’s been hurt enough in life that the best policy is to keep up his walls, no matter what. He loves his work and has been a successful business owner for many years. He enjoys a good roll in the grass, whether it’s a quickie or sculpting! Things are great for him, but then he finds out he has a teenage daughter and everything is a game-changer. Looking for a way to connect with her on some level, he reaches out to Ari, whom he’s been hot for, for some time. He needs her to step in and help, but he doesn’t know what he’s asking for.

Ari is a woman who gets through life by being unabashedly herself. It’s easy to put up similar walls and keeping someone hanging that’s only temporary, so they can’t get settled into her life and screw up the relationships she has with those close to her. Who needs to be in love when you have music, good friends, and a good time? She isn’t afraid to let herself be free and enjoy who she is. Music is a big part of who she is and Jax knows it. She agrees to help him out, but she doesn’t know what she’s getting into either.

Together their love story goes through ups and downs, witty banter, frustrations, attitude problems, desire, laughter, and of course anger are all part of the journey. I loved that with this story there was focus on a single parent and what it takes to uproot your life, change it up and accept changes. I felt for all three of them as they navigated their roles in each other’s lives. Through it all it was incredible to see how hard they fought for each other, they didn’t just roll away and give up. It’s a beautifully written story that holds your attention for a long time!

Broken by Love was a great story! I felt like it was a little rushed in some parts, not what I was expecting from reading the synopsis. Landing the Lawman (Hills of Texas, #5)Landing the Lawman by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 5 of this series and is best to be read in order to get to know the family better.
This is Carter’s story, the only girl in her family and how she now has her dream job after leaving a relationship and her job.
She works closely with Logan and after a burned relationship he is far from wanting a commitment ever again.

I really loved these two, they balanced each other well. And loved seeing the family again even if the reason they’re all close again wasn’t a good one. I loved watching the changes and relationship bloom here and am so sad this series is now at its end. Ive enjoyed them all.

Sky to Sea (Crimson Sash Book 2) By Amanda Marin. This is the second book in this series and I really think you should read the first one to really get the story. I’m not a huge fan of this genre but I loved this book. Its the story of Neve Hall a strong, independent young woman and Micah Ward a young man that has been thru a lot. They find themselves in the New Republic and think they are home free but in reality they are having to prove themselves worthy of being citizens there. They must convince the Immigration Case Manager that they will be productive citizens to the New Republic. Neve and Micah find themselves at the center of a battle when tensions occur between the New Republic and the Nation. They are kidnapped and held hostage and until the Nation meets their demands they won’t be released and one of the demands is Micah must return! This is a wonderful book that will keep you turning the pages. Read it to find out what happens to Micah and Neve! You will love it!

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2) by Lisa Lanay – Review by Liz Vrchota

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2)Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I got super excited when I saw the second book in the Almost Perfect series form Lisa Lanay was available and one-clicked it instantly. Taming Zane was absolutely ‘almost perfect’ and I loved every single moment I spent with Shannon and Zane. These two were so sweet and had good souls that made them easy to relate to and adore. Shannon is not looking to change up her life but fate brings Zane into her life and makes her question everything. Zane is super surgeon who takes time to help those in need with his plastic surgery skills. These two are absolutely perfect for each other but separated by many miles and time. Will they be able to find a way to make a relationship work, even through extreme long distances? Long distance romances always make for some juicy reading in my opinion so I loved that twist we got here. This book is perfect for a lazy Sunday read and I can’t wait to see what the next one will bring us!

Jake is an Attorney by day, assassin by night. He is a young lawyer who leads a secret life. He was trained by the CIA, he now wants peace and quiet, practicing law and living on a boat with his war dog, but of course this doesn’t happen. He gets pulled into all sorts of trouble will he be-able to get out of it? Will he find out who is causing the trouble, or will he still be on the hooks for said trouble?

Thia Finn is a new author to me and this book couldn’t have been a better way to be introduced to her writing. I completely enjoyed reading Before the Second Show. This book is a sweet romance that will rock your socks off along the way. Emmy always loved the rockstar life and found it intriguing. Then we have Alex who is immersed in the life and a rockstar himself that has experienced the joys and the trials that come with being famous. These two will cross paths and their lives will never be the same. Will they come out on top with a happily ever after or will they end up alone? I loved how light and easy this book was to read. I found myself devouring it quickly and in pretty much one sitting. I look forward to seeing what else might be available and what will come from Thia Finn in the future.

Broken by Love (The Full Circle Series) by MJ Masucci – Review by Liz Vrchota

Broken by LoveBroken by Love by M.J. Masucci
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I won’t lie this is a hard one for me to review. I loved the cover of Broken by Love. It is stunning and who wouldn’t want to know what has to happen between the covers. Other than that I went in completely blind. I have never read anything from MJ Masucci before and I didn’t even really read the reviews or synopsis. Now that I finished the book and I can see I am not the only one who struggled with this novel a tad. I sincerely wanted to love this book and could see where if it was maybe revisited and strengthened it has the potential to be a great 5 star read. As of now its a struggle for me because this is a solid three star read. What I really struggled with was the characters in this story are in desperate need of many things including help and they really none of them should be in a relationship until they do so. It is a toxic situation amongst everyone involved yet I found that the woman makes a lot of excuses for the men who do these things to her. We need more strong and resilient women to read about these days so I struggled to get into it for that main reason. I also just could not see where this book was going. It was choppy and I struggled to find that flow that comes with a good romance read.

The concept is not bad and that is evident but it just needs more. Alexa is our main female lead and we find her starting a new job with the ex from Hades as her boss. Regardless of the fact that Alexa is engaged she still engages the boss and the behavior. Or fiance is a whole other story and he too really could you some cold hard truth and help. I wanted to see these guys end up with all different people by the end of the book. I will make an effort to see if this book has rewrites at some point and to maybe check out some other novels of hers if they are available and see if they are better.

The Sister Pact: Home is Where The Heart is by Jacquie Biggar – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Sister Pact: Home is Where The Heart isThe Sister Pact: Home is Where The Heart is by Jacquie Biggar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have really come to love Jacquie Biggar’s sweet romances and this one, The Sister Pact: Home is Where The Heart is, is no exception to the rule. We got such a sweet and heartwarming, and at times also sad story with this one. I really loved the main characters and how they seemed to both remain strong and on equal ground. Holly is our main gal, and honestly super lovable. It is hard when you discover she has a life threatening illness that will send her home and away from the career she loved. Levi is our swoony male lead and once he sees Holly he is reminded of the feelings that he has always had for her but never been able to see to fruition. Will these two get a chance at love before time runs out? Watch for those subtle twists that you won’t see coming but will make perfect sense in the end. I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what will come next from Ms. Biggar!

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytales by Byrd Nash – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytalesThe Wicked Wolves of Windsor: and other fairytales by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I simply loved this collection of short and fulfilling modern and adult versions of fairy tales that I loved and adored as a child. Fairy tales are the first stories that I remember and they sparked my love for reading at an early age. It is hard to find books that can make you feel like you are in a far away and magical land, but yet also make it seem so real and vivid that anyone could swear it could happen. When I found out this was a collection of fairy tales I just knew I needed to get my hands on it.

Bryd Nash was a new author to me when I picked this up but now that I have read and loved this so much I just may be a new fangirl. Her writing takes you away to these strange worlds with all the vivid and beautiful words she uses. I absolutely felt like a child full of fascination and wonder as I read. I loved how these stories also pulled in strong women as the leads. Another bonus was the fact that these incorporated modern day times as well.

Every story is wonderful but I truly enjoyed the title story, The Wicked Wolves of Windsor, and it stuck out to me as a favorite. It was the perfect mix of dark and twisty and magical. I can’t wait to see what else is available and what will be to come from Bryd Nash!

What a perfect title for this book LOL I don’t know if Ive ever wanted to slap 2 people more than the two in this book. They made me laugh, they absolutely ticked me off, and I fell in love with both of them. This author never disappoints, I know as soon as I pick up one of her books that I need to be ready because you never know what will happen next, or what will make you crack up next.

This was an awesome story made even better with the friends and families, it’s been a long time since I read book 5 and I was a bit fuzzy on some of the characters but a lot of it came back and what didn’t, didn’t matter it was still simply amazing!

You can read this as a stand alone with no problem, but trust me when I say the books that come before it are worth every second of your time.

OMG some of the conversations in this book, and the pet names for lack of a better word literally had me dying..

I can not wait for more from all of these characters and after reading this I want to go back now and read the others all over again!

Loved it!!

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Sheri Schrader

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley is the fifth book in the Gray Ghosts series. This can be read as a standalone book but I believe best enjoyed if read after the books before it in the series. Each book focuses on certain characters but the others are still part of the story. The other books give some background to make this book that much more enjoyable. I enjoy books in this series because there is action, romance, and thrills all in one book. Covert Threat does not disappoint. There is a lot going on and it kept me reading to the very end. I already know with this series there will be some sort of happy ending but I enjoy the thrill and action portion which brings the characters closer together.

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor and other fairytales by Byrd Nash. This book is a collection of fairytales. The heros in fairytales is the female character. Nash’s is very descriptive and it was easy to follow throughout all the short tales. My favorite by Nash has to be The Wicked Wolves of Windsor. “This is a dark version of Red Riding Hood in a magical fantasy England post WWI” as the author says in the synopsis. With all these short tales, I felt my blood boiling and heart racing throughout the stories. I highly recommend this story to see it from Byrd Nash’s take of the fairytales.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I’m so happy to have discovered her. Her writing is exceptional. She has a way of pulling you in and keeping you enthralled. The story was well thought out and complex. It wasn’t just an MC story. The characters are well rounded and relatable. Being the fifth book in this series, I had no problem following the story line. The story centred on Ink and Beth with recurring characters from previous books. I fell in love with theses characters and definitely plan on reading the whole series.

REBOUND (REWIND BOOK 4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Lisa Helmick

Rebound (Rewind #4)Rebound by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So this is Noah’s story of heartbreak, lust and love. When this started I didn’t feel it was one of the better stories in the series. It seemed mostly sexual and not much story. I get that Noah sexual and not afraid to show it. It just seemed like the focus was on that part of him. Not the side that wants love as well or the worry he won’t find a partner who accepts all of him. That being said In the ending it really came around. I loved the last chapter! I am so happy for Adrien and Raphaël. A couple times I thought this would take a wrong turn for them. I was almost more invested in their story instead of Noah’s.

This isn’t my first story by this author and it isn’t my favorite. In most of the other books the characters made huge growth improvements and overcame horrendous issues. I just didn’t see that in here. I liked Noah but again it seemed to go from sexual encounter to sexual encounter. That’s not for me I need some story to round this out.

This is my first read by Mandy and what can I say, this has everything I could ever ask. Heat, passion, vengeance, love/hate, family feuds.
I love how Mandy did the three person POV which totally worked and you could see the strong family relationship bonds that are evident throughout the book. Ink and Beth are one of the cutest couples but if you could picture them knowing what you know you wouldn’t see them together at all. The MC has a tight knit family appeal, brother in arms and all.
Look forward to reading some of the other Satan’s devils books
