REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Heather Harmon

Wow, This series has some great characters and a great storyline that flow together nicely to the next book. The writing style really brings some depth to the books. I couldn’t put them down. I like that the stories are coming from the characters. It was nice to read about the LGBTQ Community and see the struggles they deal with in relationships as well. I enjoyed the french setting and how the stories opened my eyes to the LGBTQ community even more.

TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES by Tamara Ferguson was an excellent read. I love hot Sam and Ben. Their story was exciting, full of action, and romantic. They were both developed well and had excellent background. The story itself had an easy to read and organized flow. I had no trouble losing myself in it. This book can be read as a standalone in this series. I loved this book and I highly recommend it. Perfect 5-star read.

This is a must read box set. I loved every one of the books in this series. This is a well written series that has characters that bring the story to life. This series is about Sarah and James and the mountains they climb in order to reach their HEA but will fate allow it? They are strong, supportive characters that have great chemistry together but they do have their struggles. That is one of the great things about this series. We get to see their relationship grow and their struggle to climb to get there. I highly recommend reading their must read box set.

This is a wonderful set of books. The stories in this set will pull you in and you won’t want to put them down until you have finished them. I know I stayed up into the night just to find out how it all ends. This is the story about Dr. Sarah Lynde and Army First Sergeant James McAllister. They meet and a connection begins between them. Sarah is a woman who is looking for a new friend with benefits, not a relationship. James is a man who is looking to settle down and start a family. It doesn’t seem like these two would be a good match however the chemistry between them is strong and emotions/feelings start to become stronger. This starts them down a path that has many obstacles and mountains that they must overcome. Will Sarah and James find true love? What does the future hold for them? Read these stories to find out. These are books that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading them. Sarah and James are characters that I grew to care about and wanted them to find happiness. I also enjoyed the additional characters that are introduced in the first book and are brought forward to the next two. There are so many that offer advice and assistance to James and Sarah. Don’t miss out on a romantic and powerful set to stories. Highly recommended.

Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (The Italian Saga #3)Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forget Nico, by Gaiai B Amman is an Italian teens novel centred around the main character Leda and her relationships especially with sexy teen heartthrob and bad boy Nico. This story is full of teen angst, emotions and changing teen feelings along with Italian gangs, romance and redemption. The story is more poignant in my view as it’s based on a true story and is interwoven with real Italian culture and Italian words (although mostly swear words)!
When a fire is started in the library at Leda and Nico’s high school the evidence points towards brooding Nico but Leda can’t believe he is behind it, but is she right to fight for him?
I love the character Leda, she’s referred to as a tomboy throughout the book, so much so that when she does wear a skirt everyone is shocked and comments on it. Leda is a very likeable and realistic teenage girl and one I could relate to when I was a teenager. She has the usual teenage girl worries, complicated friendships, hormones, puberty, weight issues and peer pressures as smoking weed is mentioned a lot. Sadly early on in the book Leda self-harms, I felt this was dealt with very sensitively by the author. The book is full of great characters all of which have enough of a back story that you feel involved in their lives, Nico is a typical attractive bad boy teen, then there is Leda’s friend Alex with his own problems and a host of female friends.
Amman’s detailed descriptions of the Italian landscape really brings the Italian summer to life, I found myself escaping into the sights, sounds and scents of Leda’s Italy. This book is part of a series but I felt it also worked well as a stand alone story. Although set in 90’s Italy it reminded me of my own teenage years and the dramas we all face at that age. It is beautifully written and the narrative flows easily making it an addictive book to read. I look forward to reading other books in her Italian Teens series.

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh – Review by Faith Jackson

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate StoryKing & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is one mind-spinning tale of love (or lack thereof) and hate. It revolves around main characters Christian Holt and Gabriella King who’ve been rivals for years. Every time they’d see one another, they’d remind one another of their dislikes for the other. During a temporary truce, an unexpected rendezvous leads to more than each bargained for. You find yourself wanting these characters to go all the way because once they’re together, their story becomes that much better. It left me thinking, “What have they been waiting for?” and, “What took so long?”
This leads their perception of one another blurred from what it used to be as to what it is now. The book is a page-turner full of sexy, steamy and mysterious to see where it will lead you with these characters as it’s full of shocks to keep you craving for more. Pick this up and you won’t be able to put it down.

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May. I’ve come to really enjoy this author and the stories created. This one can be read as a stand-alone but trust me you’ll want all the books this author has to offer. Mason and Rylie are great characters they had this undeniable chemistry and unique vibe I love in characters. The attention to even the smallest details are amazing and I appreciate the time and effort put in by the author. The storyline was interesting and had me completely hooked from start to finish! It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’ll definitely be adding to my read again list. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

King & Hunt by Brienne Dubh a fancy four-star read. This is quick and easy to read and filled with feisty drama and is so hot it may burn your fingers when you touch it. There is so much hate in this story that you can taste the bitterness, but on the flip side as it is a fine line, the lust will taste lovely and sweet in this story as well. Chemistry is off the page and so explosive that you won’t be able to miss these two.

Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (The Italian Saga #3)Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forget Nico by Gaia B. Amman a fabulous four-star read. This is number three in the Italian Saga series, but number one in the Italian Teens novels, I have read the whole Italian saga so don’t know if it could be read as stand-alone as I have read them as the series and enjoyed them as such. This is such a fun and interesting read, and when you realise that it’s the authors own story, it just makes it that much crazier. This was so much fun for me as I was a similar age in the 90s and visited Italy, so this brought back some fond memories for me, the only issue I had was that I don’t remember there being so much teenage angst while I was there. This author has a great story to tell and everyone should give it a go.

This is book 2 in the Mountains series, I honestly think you should read book 1 before reading this one. I fell in love with Sarah and James from that book and it just continued to grow in this book. I’ve finished both of them and still want more. This book is, in my opinion, way steamier than the last and that’s saying something. Continue to fall in love with Sarah and James in this second book, and see what mountains they need to climb to see where their paths lead! I love Phoebe Alexander as an author, can’t wait for the next!

I’ve read many books by this author and I believe as far as sweet, this has to be the sweetest story I’ve read in a long time. I loved these characters and I love how many from other books pop up in when you least expect it.

I felt this story moved too fast and too easy and felt different than other books I’ve read by this author. Where a lot of times I think some books have too many details, I felt this one didn’t always give me enough. In saying that though I did love this story and will still read anything and everything this author writes.

You absolutely do not have to read these books in order but I recommend you do because they are all awesome and I love spending time in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin.

Awesome story!

An easy romance read. Although somewhat cliche, with a complicated brother/sister dynamic and forbidden relationship, the characters are well-developed. The story TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9) is an amazing story to read. I loved reading about the characters of Captain Samantha Coldwell and Captain Ben Nash. They both have served their country with honor. When it is found out that terrorists have the facility and Samantha in their sites, Ben takes on the role of her protector. There is an attraction between Ben and Samantha. There are sparks between them. Will those who threaten Samantha be caught? What does the future hold for Ben and Samantha? Read this story to find out. This story at times had me wondering what was going to happen next. It also has romantic scenes and dialogue. It is a story that you don’t want to miss out reading. I highly recommend it.

The stories in this boxset are amazing. They will pull you in and not let you go until you have read the final one. I loved the characters of Connor and Mary Ann. Connor has come home for his mother’s funeral. Home is a place with a lot of memories. As he grieves, he also finds himself talking to Mary Ann. Mary Ann owns a small-town flower shop. She is well known in town and goes out of her way to make sure the flower arrangements she makes are beautiful and well done. She meets Connor and then just as quickly he disappears. Will Connor come back? Will Mary Ann still be interested as he didn’t tell her why he left? What does the future hold for Mary Ann and Connor? Read these stories to find out. These stories are emotional and mine was going up and down the entire time I was reading them. I grew to care about Connor and Mary Ann and wanted them to find happiness. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. The stories flow smoothly, and I found them wonderful to read. I also liked the additional characters that are introduced and how they interact with Connor and Mary Ann. Even the family’s orange tabby cat has a part to play. I also liked that the setting for the stories is in a small town. Don’t miss out on stories that will touch your heart. Highly recommended.

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen – Review by Jenni Bishop

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGYFLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen is an emotional series that focuses on grief and self-discovery. Having all three books is a bonus because you don’t have to wait for the next book to be available, they are all right there ready and waiting to go.

Flowers in December is the first book in the series and is a very short tale and is a touching story of one person’s grief. It is a very emotional time for our main character, which sees him going through a myriad of emotions on this journey which also leads to self-discovery. The writing style is easy to follow, but I did find it hard to hold my attention at times, with the overly polite conversations taking place, but Jane did a nice job of dealing with the sensitive issue death. This book will remind you not to take others for granted in your life and suddenly finding your place in the world even through loss.

Coming Home: the sequel to Flowers in December is a story of one man who after the death of his mother is learning to deal with his grief. In order to pull himself out of his funk he has decided to leave his old life behind and start anew where he grew up. With old friends and new he celebrates the season of his first Christmas without his mother. It is a very quick but emotional read. Jane is a master at never doing what you think should be and always leaves me a little frustrated. But having said that she always writes from the heart and that is infused within her words in her stories. Read and enjoy but you need to read the first book Flowers in December first.

Second Chance: The Conclusion of the Flowers in December Trilogy is an emotional journey where my emotions were all over the place. This is a second chance romance story that I read in one sitting. The characters of Mary Ann and Connor Norton are likeable and well developed. There was some going back in time with Mary Ann’s history some helped but Jane is a master at never doing what you think should be and always leaves me a little frustrated. But having said that she always writes from the heart. Connor’s withdrawal from the world after his mother’s death left Mary Ann wondering what was going on. When he recovers enough, he decides that he needs her but is she still there and waiting?

I look forward to what comes next from Jane.

2AM Secrets by M. Piper may be the first book that I have read from this author, but it certainly won’t be the last. It was such a fun and sexy read_ I am really kicking myself for not ‘discovering’ Ms. Piper’s books before now. The exciting part is now that I have, I can explore all her other works too- something I am definitely looking forward to.
This is a very hot and spicy brothers’ best friend/best friends sister contemporary romance that just sizzles off the pages. But there is more to the story than just a steamy story- there is humour, emotion, fun, passion, romance, banter, secrets, tension, heartache, a little drama, and fantastic characters. I really connected with the characters, getting all wrapped up in their story and rooting for them right from the beginning.
Sadie has had feelings for Archer for as long as she can remember- he’s always been a part of her life. But, he’s her twin brother’s best friend- which makes him off limits- not to mention he’s almost like a brother to her too. She definitely shouldn’t have ‘those’ kind of feelings for him- so she tries to act like he doesn’t affect her, but there is a sexy, flirty, charged tension in the air whenever he’s around.
Archer has wanted Sadie for the longest time- life just wouldn’t be the same without her in it- and would really love to be more than just her brother’s best friend. He wants Sadie. Come New Year’s Eve feelings and chemistry combust- leading to a secret tryst. What happens when secrets are revealed? This is well worth the read to find out…
Can’t wait to explore more of M. Piper’s work!

Thank you, M. Piper!

I really enjoyed reading this Novella: Scoring Chance. With it being only 138 pages I wasn’t sure if the story would run short, it did not I assure you. Lane Martin has done a great job with this book, the characters are relatable and it was stacked with enough suspense and romance. The story had me gripped from start to finish. Eden tale is original and not what I expected in the beginning. Rhett is such a loveable character and came into Eden’s life just at the right time. Sarah has lived with a lot of loss in her lifetime, so she knows what it takes to move on. Even if the one person she wants to be with is on the other side of the world. She knows that her focus has to change. In refocusing she meets someone else, but their connection isn’t the same as the one she had with James. Her heart is heavy and she has to face decisions that are going to be tough. Move on with him or move on by herself?

James had to leave, he had no other choice. He’s moved on with someone else, and even took things a step further. But the truth is, his heart hurts and he can’t stop how he feels about Sarah. Does she think of him? What about her family? What happens when he comes home, move on by himself or with his current love?

There are so many emotions that fly through with this book! I felt their heartache, especially Sarah’s. It is not easy to move on, and even though she is adjusting her life, she still feels deeply. Its one of the things I loved about her character is how deep her feelings really run and she’s open to them. I loved James as well. He’s such a perfect fit for Sarah, now if they would just get it together and get their HEA! I loved their continuing story and felt more connected to them this go around than the last.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am a sucker for brother’s best friend/forbidden romances…and this one delivers! Sadie is a bartender in Chicago. Sam works for the security company that his best friend, Archer, runs. Sam and Sadie have a rule that they will never date each other’s friends. Up until now…that has never been a problem. There has always been a connection between Sadie and Archer, but they never acted on it…until New Year’s Eve. And once the door was opened…there was no going back.

The story that follows is full of secret rendezvous and stolen kisses. Sadie and Archer know that Sam will not accept their relationship…but they are helpless to stop their own happiness. There were moments of happiness, anger, and despair throughout the book. There were also a lot of other storylines introduced that could (hopefully) be stories in the future. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them.

Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong ItalianForget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forget Nico: Falling For The Wrong Italian is the first book in the Italian Teens (Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman, This is a young adult romance set in Italy in 1990. It was the first time reading this author and it’s also not a genre that I read much of but once I got into the story I really enjoyed it.
Leda Balni is 13 years old and has been friends with Nico since they were 9. She’s loved him since then but now he’s being cold and distant towards her. Everyone keeps telling her to forget Nico but the heart wants what the heart wants and she just can’t let any other guy in.
Set in high school, you really get to see just how awful teenagers behave towards each other. My goodness they are so nasty towards each other. If you do not fit in with the ‘in crowd’ then life can be really difficult.
This is a really interesting read into the mind of a teenager who is not little miss popular. It all becomes even worse for Leda when Nico ends up in trouble and is sent away.
Can Leda ‘forget Nico’ and move on? What will happen to Nico? This is a great young adult read and I think would be very eye-opening for teenagers to read.

REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Sheri Schrader

Rewind Boxed SetRewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Rewind boxed set puts Rowan Shaw’s entire series all in one easy grab.
The series starts with Rewind. This is a wonderful story of two men reconnecting. Enzo is deaf but has not let this get in his way. He is a strong man who has had his heart broken. Florian had his life under control until he has his life torn apart by love.
The characters are well written. I liked despite challenges the men are strong but not to the point of being unbearable. The story is good also. I wanted the best for both Enzo and Florian. The story of a second chance at love and how we all deserve the chance is good. The secondary characters were interesting and were a nice complement to the main characters. They helped the main characters to tell the story but did not take away from them.
The series continues with Return. I enjoyed the first book in the series and was interested in what would happen in this book. This can be read as a standalone and enjoyed because the story is contained. Raphaël Diop is a student living in Paris looking for affordable housing. Adrien Dupuis has a room available in his apartment. The two do not have much in common and live very separate lives. Will their relationship change?
The characters are well written and I enjoyed learning about them. Also, the secondary characters added to the story and did not take away from the story of Adrien and Raphaël. This is a bisexual romance and if this is not a comfortable theme this might not be the book for you. I believe that if you can read this story you will enjoy this book and get to know Raphaël and Adrien better.
Revive is the third in this great series. Brandon is a recently divorced father who is grappling with his sexuality. Patrick is single and does not think he is relationship material. What happens when the two hook up one evening? This is a good story dealing not only with a fledgling relationship. I also liked Brandon is dealing with his bisexuality and the prejudice he comes across. This is dealing with realistic topics and handles it well.
Rebound rounds out this series. Some of the characters are coming full circle and returning in this book. There are characters which reoccur and having the background is helpful. The characters are very well written and they tell a story which could be battered and treated poorly with love and respect. There are polyamorous relationships and they are told wonderfully and explained from all parts of the relationship. Rowan Shaw makes the characters easy to relate to which leaves you wanting the best for all parties. I really enjoyed this book as well as the others in the series.

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3)

Two Hearts’ Reconnaissance
By Tamara Ferguson
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the story Two Hearts’ Reconnaissance by Tamara Ferguson. It one of my favorite stories in this anthology. I loved reading about the characters of Eve Loughlin and Harry Giordano. They met when they were teenagers. They were survivors and at first, there was a close friendship. Their feelings for each other was strong. They went separate ways because of their careers. What does the future hold for Eve and Harry? Will they find their way back to each other? Is their love for each other still strong? Read this story to find out. This story is emotion and mine were going up and down the entire time I was reading it. The book does deal with a serious subject matter however it also has Eve and Harry, with help from others, overcomes their past. I grew to care about what happened to Eve and Harry and wanted them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about many of the other characters that are in the story and how they interact with Eve and Harry. This is a story that you don’t want to miss out on reading.

The Player
By Jacquie Biggar
5 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed reading the story The Player by Jacquie Biggar. It is a story that had me laughing at times and then there are moments where you want to say “Aww.” I loved the two main characters. From the back and forth bantering to the feelings of romance that was totally unexpected. There are moments that you wonder what is going to happen next. I grew to care about what happened to the characters and wanted them to be happy. The story flowed smoothly and I found myself not wanting it to end. The author does an amazing job of making a story that is both romantic and entertaining. It is a story that you don’t want to miss out on reading.
