This book is the first New Adult book I have read and it was a miss for me. Princess Mora is a contradiction, smart and responsible but doesn’t actually fulfill her responsibilities. There were many inconsistencies in the story that made me feel a little lost through it. It was a quick read and maybe my age/reading genre preference made this one hard for me to get through, I did not enjoy it. I wanted to know more about the indigenous folk of Xot and why getting a copy of the original treaty was so important, but that wasn’t really explained. There was potential for a great story but the lack of character development and the dialogue fell flat for me.

Absolution is a dark romance with bits of mystery and paranormal elements woven throughout.
Dominic was from the wrong side of the tracks according to his young girlfriend’s father. He would never be good enough for her, but Dominic didn’t care. He was in love with the beautiful Juliana Rutherford. It appeared that they had a bright future ahead of them despite her father, that is until she disappeared after arguing with Dominic. Of course, he is accused of the crime until nearly two years later, he is found not guilty, but he was still in prison while awaiting trial. The one thing that got him through those dark times was revenge and making Juliana’s father pay for trying to ruin his life.
Whitney Greene lives a pretty good life, but she has a secret that she keeps trying to run from. She has psychic abilities that she tries to deny. Yet, one ghost just won’t leave her alone, and that happens to be Juliana. She needs to reach Dominic and give them closure so that they can both move on. Whitney is the key. She just has to get her to listen.
When Whitney first meets Dominic for the first time, it doesn’t go well AT ALL! He accuses her of being Juliana and helping her father in trying to destroy him. Yeah, Juliana failed to mention to Whitney that they both look exactly alike. Not only is Juliana’s father on his revenge list, but now Whitney is. She somehow has to convince him she isn’t his first love and get Juliana’s message across to him.
If you are looking for a sweet romance, this one isn’t for you. It’s dark, but Anise Storm still managed to tap into my emotions as well. Dom was not someone I easily liked at first. I admired him for his tenacity and strength. However, he had a coldness and darkness to him, and I could somehow understand that because of what happened to him. So, seeing him melt a little with Whitney actually helped me like him a lot more by the end of the book. He is the quintessential alpha male.
I liked Whitney from the very beginning, and some of my favorite chapters were her chapters. I enjoyed seeing her learn to use her newfound powers. It was a bit reminiscent of the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness, but Anise Storm made this her own heroine and her own story. I can’t not mention Juliana. She was a character in her own right. In the beginning chapters, I wasn’t such a fan of hers either. I felt like she didn’t love Dom in the way in which he deserved to be loved. However, there were layers that still would be revealed about her throughout the book as well. It just goes to show that I should never judge a character at the beginning of a book.
The plot was fast-paced. As I said, there was some darkness to it. There is a lot of sexual content, but I actually enjoyed the twists and turns with the paranormal elements more than I enjoyed anything else.
If you are looking for a book that is a quick read with some darkness and a lot of spice, along with some GREAT twists and turns, this is just the book for you.

Reilly is a grifter, con artist you name it, a product of her up bringing always having to survive and with the chaos of her mother, life is not boring. Another move, another city but when she discovers they are living near the beach, she loves the walks along the beach to clear her head of her mother’s scheming. One night she spots a party in one of the houses and sneaks in, looking around she spots an opportunity to steal something and as she is almost getting away she is stopped by a boy who she is intrigued by.
Cody is at his cousins house for a party, when he spots her coming out of one of the bedrooms, as soon as he confronts her he has an urge to get to know this mysterious girl. Cody’s life is complicated and with his parent being wealthy there is also a certain mask he needs to wear, but can he be free with Reilly or will his world crash around him.
This is a great prequel into this series, the characters are brilliantly written and you are invested in them for the first chapter. As in all prequels it is a great story to easy you into the start of the series where it carries on with Reilly and Cody.
I do have to warn you although this is classed as a young adult story there maybe triggers which some people find uncomfortable to read, but in my opinion it just adds to the intensity to this story and of course the cliff-hanger at the end just wets your appetite for more.

Mythology, paranormal and romance I really enjoyed this book. This is book 3 of the series and I have not read any of the other books, though I now feel I need to go back and rectify that! I have read other books by this author and thoroughly loved them, so I knew this was going to be good. The mix of fantasy, romance, mythology and paranormal was brilliantly executed and the characters just drew me in and held me captive until the end. Highly Recommend!

Engaging teen read This was an interesting YA read. The author covers many issues faced by a teen who is navigating tween-hood. I liked the voice of Landry, she was an easy character to relate to. There’s teenage angst, questions about what makes a good friend and family dynamics that all come into play. Recommend for tween and teens.

I am not going to lie, I really thought I was going to hate this book due to the setting and plot but a few chapters in and I couldn’t stop reading. I’ve been reading for 6 hours straight. It’s 5 am and I just finished. Who needs sleep when I need to know if Anna will find Lark or be stuck with her husband. Will Lark continue his lifestyle or find the girl who haunts his dreams? Definitely worth the read. I’ll be looking for the second book!

I think this was my favourite from this author. It takes all about the life cycle of butterflies and with beautiful drawings takes you on a journey with Loretta. I loved the facts at the end with the facts and science.

I have read a few books from this author and she always blows my mind. I love a good rock star romance but this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the second book of the amazing Balefire series. You can read this book as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this book as well. I was so excited to get this book I stopped everything and started this book right away. I could not put this book down until the end. I can’t wait to see who she will write about next.

This was such a well written book! I cannot wait to read the rest of this series! I was sucked in by this story from the very beginning. There is so much chemistry between Dean and Rae. I love that she is quick witted and doesn’t pull any punches, she speaks her mind and Dean is easily drawn in by her. He is charismatic and a tad bit sad if I’m being honest. These characters are definitely relatable, as I have been through my own share of heartbreak and trust issues, honestly, who hasn’t experienced that at one point in life or another?

A great small town romance between old neighbors. Watching the two main characters discover a new path forward was enjoyable. I read the book in a single setting. I didn’t want to put it down.

Hands down one of THE BEST Psychological Thriller story I have read in a very long time. This gave me all the feels……..my heart palpitating, edge of my seat trying to figure out what comes next!!

Remember, back in middle school, where the popular girl was the one who always had an interesting story or event to talk about?!? That’s who Landry wants to be. So, when she gets chosen to move forward in a modeling competition, she thinks this could be the start of that journey. But, her “best friends” alienate her and she doesn’t understand why. She tries making new friends, but it seems like everyone has their own group of friends and she isn’t quite sure where she fits in. Throw in some boy drama and you’ve got middle school in a book!
This was almost like reading the diary of almost any middle school girl. It was well written and dealt with the issues that teen girls everywhere face…friendships, jealousy, conforming to feel accepted, boys, and finding where you fit it. I was transported back in time as I read it. I loved Landry’s character. She went through quite a bit…and I believe she found herself along the way. I’m interested in seeing what happens in the next book.
This was a good 5 star read. I felt like I was reliving some of the things my teen daughter encountered when she was in school. The author does a great job with her writing and makes you feel like you are right there in the story feeling everything that Landry was. To go from being part of the group and having jealousy rear its ugly head causing her to be ostracized by her supposed friends was heartbreaking. Overall this was a great read and I would suggest young teens to read this. My emotions were all over the place with the things she would go through and how she was treated. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.
So let’s talk about nostalgia! I mean come on, every girl that was in middle school had to deal with drama at one point in time. I found that even though True Colors was a novel more geared towards the middle school aged audiences, I still found it entertaining. I found myself able to read the book quite easily as an adult who hasn’t been in middle school for a very long time! The author did a good job of touching on many of the topics that middle school girls go through on a daily basis! There were mentions of the trials of friendships, of course self esteem issues, bullying, we can’t forget the notorious gossiping, and of course trying to find your way through middle school and preparing for high school, oh yes and I almost forgot… boys! I personally do believe that this is a well written novel that many pre teen and teenage girls would enjoy reading. The book was not overly long, and was written on a level that they would be able to understand. Great job to the author for making such an age appropriate, entertaining book for the younger generations of females.

Caspian gets unusual gifts from his grandfather, of course, they’re never what they appear to be. I love the imagination the author has in creating these books! Something so innocuous as socks can be great fun with just a little imagination. The illustrations are straightforward and make the story easy to follow and visualize. Whimsical and fun, this story has magical elements that are sure to inspire young minds!
This is such a good book for young girls in middle school. Landry goes thru losing/gaining/losing/gaining friendships over the course of the school year. Also while navigating having parents living apart and the start of a modeling career as well.
Landry shows grace and how hard it is to navigate that awkward age of 13/14. I thought the author did a wonderful job in the inner monologue along with the characters being super relatable. Middle school is so rough in all aspects and Landry shows that you can make it thru and have various friends groups and even how to handle those when they can’t cross paths with one another.
If my daughter was a little younger I would have her read this book/series because it’s relatable for those navigating the awkward teenage years between middle school and high school.

While I read this book as a stand-alone, it is book 3 in the series, it it didn’t make or break the story/book for me. This was a titillating suspense/murder story. It provides all of the elements of an amazing murder mystery: unsolved murder case being brought back years later, relationships to the victims, personal vendettas, and the forever sought after twist! This is definitely a strong, ‘can’t put this down’ book.

Manipulator’s War is the first book in the Raurnon Trilogy by Elise Carlson. It is a YA action/adventure fantasy with tests, trials, and challenges- as well as myth, murder, mayhem, assassins, threats, drama, and high stakes. We meet Raurnon, the non-binary heir to the throne of Tarlah who has to step up and assume the throne when their parents are kidnapped. With war looming, and no one to turn to things take a complicated and dangerous turn. What happens makes for an intriguing adventure story. Although I found the premise of this story interesting, I just couldn’t find my groove with this story as I found it hard to connect with the character/s, which then made it difficult to immerse myself in the adventure or invest in the outcome of their story. I also found the story quite slow in parts, and because of that I found my attention wandering a lot- and then it continued to lag and drag along the way, on and off, making for a bit of a choppy and somewhat frustrating read for me. I have put this down to this being the author’s debut novel and they were still finding their own writing groove. I think the rest of the series holds a lot of promise and I am curious to see where we go from here. Happy Reading…

This is the first book I have read by Fantasia Yu, and I am so excited to read her other work. One of the main things in the synopsis that drew me in was the space pirates and moon planets as I have never read anything with either before. Princess Mora is the first-born princess of Xitlych, and as such she has several obligations that embody her life. Darin is a “criminal”, pilot and the moment Mora first sees him she feels as if all the air in her lungs is gone. Ten days, Princess Mora has been betrothed to Prince Fidge of Xot, to lead in the way of alliances to be made through the Nexus of Planets. While first impressions of his picture don’t sit well with Mora or her younger sister Pola, seeing him as a rigid geek, or principal look to him. The light in the tunnel for Mora is that she was accepted to the university of her dreams in the Bronze City, far away from Xot and Prince Fidge. After a long day of boring activities and duties Mora wants to see local statues, she has read about when doing her research on the moon planet. Meeting Gota, a local criminal that is often hired as a guide for official purposes due to her knowledge of the terrain and space pirates being afraid of her, Mora sees hope. Being a princess is smothering Mora, she dreams of being free of being a normal person no royal expectations associated to her, and when she meets Darin she has her chance, and she takes it. Will Mora get to go to university? Can she escape her royal duties and have freedom? What will happen if Darin finds out the truth of her identity? The world created by the author truly is a fantastical one, the descriptions of the worlds, the customs and characters immerse the reader into her world. Being a short read this book was the perfect little escape on a lazy Sunday, I couldn’t put it down and look forward to reading more of the authors work soon.
Landry is your normal teenage girl, feels invisible and left out. Her so called friends invite her to a modeling casting call for a tv show at a local mall and she is one of the finalists. Her so called friends ditch her and start making fun of her so she makes me friends with Devon and her crew. She makes the live show in her state but is not chosen as a finalist, however a few agencies want her to come for auditions. Soon she is torn between new friends and old and she’s not sure who to choose. What more could any teenage girl want, friends and game and fortune!

Landry is a thirteen (going on fourteen) year old girl who just wants to fit in. She wants a modeling career that will make her famous, friends who will be by her side through thick and thin, and something interesting to talk about with her classmates. She has friends who may not be as loyal as she thought. Throughout this book, Landry learns more about herself, meets new friends, and navigates the difficulties of middle school. I really enjoyed this book! I love the characters and the dialogue. I felt the characters were relatable and realistic. One small criticism was the technology in this book. I feel like today’s teens might not communicate in the ways they do in the book. I would definitely recommend this book to middle school, high school, and even adult readers, and I can’t wait to read the next books in this short series.

I know nothing about farming, milking, or cheese production. That being the framework for Grace Uncer Fire had me questioning if I would enjoy it. But I took the chance and glad I did. The book was a little slow moving, but it did have a lot of drama that kept the story going. I was a little frustrated by how long it took Grace and Ryan to own their feelings for each other and Danny and the past. I think they didn’t quite realize their own feelings until far too long into the story. And I felt the info surrounding Danny was developed and revealed too slowly. We find out he died. Then much later we learn how. Then much later we learn the circumstances of why. Then nearly at the end, the full feelings and actions that day. So overall I feel like the author drug their feet a little and made the story much longer than needed… but overall I liked it. The characters and the past drama, the closeness of the families, etc were all likeable. I am happy that there is a pre story for Ella- I felt like there was a lot of details from the past hinted. So I look forward to reading Taylor’s law.

Glad those days are gone and makes me wonder how it’s been so long ago. Really good young adult book and coming of age read. And the friendships and the way young girls act to one another…it’s so spot on but also extremely sad. Seeing the way Landry was treated by her so called “friends” all the time actually made me sad and super angry for her. If Landry did something, there was always someone out there jealous of her or someone out there making up lies about her. The young girl bullies is something I can relate too as well. It happens a lot and I feel for Landry. Every time something went well for her, ericka was always there to talk down on her and bashing her behind her back. Making Landry feel like she doesn’t deserve what she’s achieving. Landry made it through a modeling competition but because ericka didn’t make it through, she had to start downplaying Landrys looks. Landry made it second place is this writing competition as well but because it wasn’t first place, ericka had something to say about that too. Friends don’t do that. So even though I really enjoyed this book, it also made me angry. I always say it’s a good book if you can bring out all kinds of emotions! I want to feel it all! So even though it made me mad, I loved it lol.
Great book on patience. I love the characters and illustrations. Fun children’s book with lots of adventure. It also has lessons in patience and how you think you want more than you have. I was looking for a lighter read to get out of a bit of a reading slump and True Colors caught my attention. The writing and real life scenarios took me right back to middle school with cliques and struggles and oh, so much drama.. I can imagine this would be an incredibly relatable story for the younger audience and for that I would definitely recommend this book. The book was incredibly realistic with characters that felt like they could be in my own life, or could have been me many years ago. I would be curious to read more from this author in the future as well.
This one is full of drama! It is a middle school read full of “mean girl” drama. It’s also about finding yourself and trying to fit in. I recommend this one to all ages, who like really life drama and adventures. Fast and enjoyable read.
