A Mountain in the Air trilogy is three books in one. The first two novellas were previously published as Coyote’s Road Trip and Raven Woman’s Tavern. The third is brand new.
Coyote’s Road Trip is a blend of magical realism and set in a dystopian future. It is a short and unique tale as with Laura’s other books along this line. This story touches on the topic of climate change and its effects on the world. The mysterious Coyote Jim is a shapeshifter nature spirit as old as time. He gets up to mischief both good and bad but he is not intentionally malicious or out to hurt others. He has decided it’s time seeking to find and establish a new home. What ensues is truly an interesting road trip.
Raven Woman’s Tavern is set in a future that could well become a reality. This dark tale is a quick read, and I felt the story was a little disjointed and unfinished in some instances. Overall, the premise is interesting and there are a lot of players and different aspects being played out. Raven is not what she seems. She is always around and watches everything. She is all knowing, and all seeing and hands out life and death as she sees fit. But that is only part of the story the rest is about people trying to survive in small town on the fringes and a world that has been ravished and where the militia are the law.
A Mountain in the Air is also a magical realism tale and brings the stories together and to completion where any unresolved questions are answered. This novella as like the other two are set in a near future ravaged by climate change and combines characters connected from both Coyote’s Road Trip and Raven Woman’s Tavern. It is a bit of an emotional tale, a story of being at a liminal space, a transitional space, a “crossroads”, a story of life and death.

The White Knight Cowboy book was a good short read! It had action, suspense, romance, and drama all in one story. The character building was good in this book. This book also had you wanting to know what happened next. If you love a good page turning book, this is the book for you. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings to the table.

Amazing, this was my first from author. Very captivating story definitely had a hard time putting it down. Strong characters and loved the lead female character the most. This book has it all heartbreak, drama and adventure. I recommend this to more mature readers but anyone who love romantic, adventure stories and everything that comes with it.

This is the first book in what I am hoping is going to be a series. If you are looking for a quick, steamy romance, that has a flair of uniqueness to it then you’ve found the right book. The author quickly jumps into the storyline and carries you through what feels like a short-film centered around two moon-princesses. There hasn’t quite been a book like this before, so it was easy to really appreciate the storyline.
The two moon-princess sisters are definitely head-strong, very compassionate, and have minds of their own. Which of course can lead to complications if they are always being told what to do, where to go…and who to love. There are very key characters you will meet, that you will either love, hate, or love to hate. There is quite a bit of sassiness, sarcasm, and definitely some steam. Amidst the tragedy that of course ensues, there is still comedic relief, and an ending you will want to read.
Between the laser guns, moon romance, robots, and space travel this will certainly captivate your interest. You won’t regret giving it a shot!

This was a good read! It felt relatable, and was also well written especially for a novel meant for someone younger. Some parts of this story felt a little juvenile to me, I guess because of age difference but it was still enjoyable. The storyline was cast paced so I felt like I read this one fairly quickly. I’ve read books by this author before and this one and enjoyed them all and this was no exception. I highly recommend reading this book, especially young adults.

Three novellas in one, all set in a mystical, dystopian future world that has been ravaged by climate change.
Coyote Jim is a shapeshifter who spends most of his time in the human form. He has lived in the desert all of his life but when climate change destroys all he knows he sets off in his truck in search of a new home. Along the way he meets numerous people and discovers they are also searching for better lives. In Coyote Jim’s journey of self discovery, he also finds love and hope.
Raven Woman’s Tavern is set in the near future in an abandoned mining town that is occupied by a small group of survivalists eking out a meagre existence. The story is centered on Rachel the Raven Woman, a shapeshifter, and her tavern. Many, but not all, of the community’s citizens are law abiding folks.
The third novella is focused on a musician named Pete who had a following back in the 1990’s but chose to disappear into the mountains. After forty years of living in solace he finds himself lonely and decides to approach people through their dreams.
Raven Woman’s Tavern was the first book that I read by this author, and I loved it. When I saw the trilogy available with three novellas included, I knew that I needed to read it. The novellas all gave a glimpse into how lives would be if we were suddenly stripped of all the modern conveniences, we have grown accustomed to having and often take for granted. This is something that I have though of often and found myself wanting a simpler life. Learning to fend for myself and be more self sustainable started with growing and canning my own food. These are skills that seem to have become lost through the years and I am hoping to pass these skills onto the next generation. Every year I build up on my skills and knowledge of plants and of being self-sustainable.
All three novellas include shapeshifting, magical realism, drama, and all contain the underlying important message about the havoc wreaked on the world by climate change. The author did a marvelous job of describing the characters, their lives, and the worlds they were struggling to survive in. The author’s description of a dystopian world ravaged by climate change really makes the reader more aware of the damage and pollution we are all part of creating. Unless we learn to stop destroying the earth we are destined to live in a world like the characters in the novellas. The world where fields of wildflowers grow on the mountain as far as the eye can see is the world I want to leave for future generations. Kudos to the author for bringing such an important topic to light. A great read!

This is the second book I have read by this author and once again she drew me into the story with her vivid imagery and great characters. I don’t want to give too much away so I will just say it is an age gap romance between wonderful Interracial characters, Dusty and Lovely Jo. It is a truly heart warming read that will keep you entertained and turning page after page from start to finish.

Princess Mora is a young woman with a bright future, but that future is not necessarily the one she wants, but her royal duties come first and so she heads off to meet her future and the ones who were in charge of organising it, but Mora cannot stand convention and is always looking for an adventure. This time, the adventure finds Mora when she meets someone who works on the Moon she is visiting, but this person is much more interesting than the official events she has to attend, so on a whim, she decides to go on a tour to somewhere which was not on the official itinerary.
It is on this tour that she meets the dashing pilot Darin O’Joy, a rapscallion of the highest order, a bad boy and someone born with charm by the bucket load and Mora is immediately drawn to him, so when he agrees to take her sightseeing, she is overjoyed at the prospect of spending more time with him. Unfortunately, the rest of her party want her to come back to the Moon Palace and continue with her duties, but when opportunity knocks, Mora is more than inclined to take it.
Amid tours of the Moon she is visiting, attacks by space pirates and discovering fantastical people, beasts and places, Mora is torn by her official life and her current more adventurous one, not to mention that she hasn’t actually told Darin that she is a princess, which could cause some issues if she isn’t careful. What will Mora do, follow her duty, or follow her heart? This is a fantasy romance in a space age world which is full of excitement, adventure and space based shenanigans which will pull you in and leave you wanting more.

As an introvert myself, I found this book to be extremely relatable! I feel like I’ve found a mirror of myself within these pages, even if it is part fiction, and I enjoyed the ride. Everyone has their own story to tell, their own inner critic to deal with, and external struggles that they go through in life. I love how this author used her own story and was able to give us a story that so eloquently illustrates their own path. This is a must-read I’ll be recommending to my friends in the future!

This book is about two star crossed lovers, Mora and Darin. Princess Mora and her sister travel to the moon planet Xot, for the purpose of Mora marrying the Prince Fidge. Mora absolutely hates being a princess and wants nothing more than to be free, she does not wish to marry Prince Fidge, even if it means helping the galaxy. She has just received the best news, she was accepted to go to the Bronze City for school, where she hopes to be far, far away from Fidge and princess duties. Mora is introduced to the rugged criminal and possible terrorist Darin and immediately is smitten. She must keep her real identity a secret from him though, she is not sure he would still be accepting of her being a Princess. How long can she hide her identity from him when the royals send a bounty hunter to retrieve her?
Darin, also only wants to be free and be a pilot. He has is technically a criminal in Xot and must take the people on tours of all kinds to receive credits, once he has enough credits he is able to go home in a community out of orbit. Darin immediately becomes infatuated with Mora. Will be put aside his fears of not being good enough and take a leap of faith to be with her?
While I loved the idea of the book, it was VERY confusing and hard to keep along. The book jumped around Alot and was hard to follow conversations correctly. I found myself constantly rereading passages so I could understand what was exactly going on.

This is such a sweet middle grade novel. One that I would have definitely recommended to my fifth grade girls and have had in my library back when I taught fourth and fifth grade. As a teacher, I felt that this book accurately portrayed middle school and how challenging school can be. Especially the drama, oh the drama! It brought back memories to my own middle school years but also to those students I teach. I definitely recommend this book!

Savage Start is the prequel to the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. This was a great short read to introduce the main characters and give a background to what I think will be a really interesting series (which is now on my to be read list!). The story introduces Riley, a young girl who has had an unusual upbringing moving around the country running cons with her mother, and Cole, one of the Elites of his school who has a tough time at home. When Riley and Cole bump into each other at a party sparks fly and they are unable to forget each other. This was a perfect intro to the new series.

I loved reading this as an adult and as a parent. My 7-year old son could definitely relate to Landry even though he’s just in 2nd grade. He learned a lot about his personality, being accepted (or not), FOMO, and what it’s like to be true to himself. As an adult raising my kids alone, it taught me how to point him in the right direction and away from frenemies. Great work to the author, Ms. Lindsay Hager!

This was a sweet short read. The author does an amazing job of bringing the leader character and all the people around her to life. The author does a really good Jo of captivating the feelings, thoughts and emotions of a young teenage girl and all the problems she encounters as she tries to navigate her way through life and find who she really is.
Landry is a normal teenage girl. She isn’t part of the popular crowd but she has her friends and she’s happy with that. Sometimes she wishes she was more interesting but that will never happy.
Until the day she enters a modelling competition with her friends. Landry doesn’t think she stands a chance of winning but she only goes to support her friends. So when she gets a call saying she had moved forward in the competition she thought her friends would be happy for her but boy was she wrong.
Her friends turn on her, completely ignoring her and blocking any attempts that Landry makes to talk to them.
Now she finds herself alone as she tries to navigate school, making friends with new people a potential crush and the modelling show how is she going to handle it all.
This brought back memories of my younger years as I remember how much of a awkward teenager I was and how hard u found it to fit in and find my place.

I have not read a book by this author yet, so when I noticed this book, I knew that I had to add it to my list of books to read. I love the way this author wrote the book. The wording made it feel as though I was in the story as well, not just reading it! The book was one that I read super quickly as I needed to know what was happening. I cannot wait to read more books by this author!!

This the prequel to the series. I honestly cannot wait to read the first book. Right off the bat the characters are amazing. Riley just moved to Santa Monica, after hopping from city to city with her mom. She is ready to stay out and be “normal” kid for a while. Cole is the popular kid who seems to have the perfect life. These two together are fire.

This is a great collection of three short stories by this author. I have enjoyed reading this author from the first book I picked up. They are each unique from each other and well written. The author’s use of details made each story as well as characters come to life. There is a bit of suspense added which makes them entertaining to read. They are fast paced and easy to read. The characters are relatable and added to each story. I really enjoyed this collection and I highly recommend it

This trilogy has been one of the best. Reading about Coyote and nature just leaves you with an indescribable feeling. This author has a way of writing that leaves you feeling like you are in the desert in with him. And the ghosts, Janey and her father, that’s just trippey. I can’t even imagine. I love the baby goat in the this adventure. It’s a really good book that has just what you need. I found my enthralled from the start. I have read the series from book 1. I do recommend it. It makes it easier to follow and it’s a lovely series. I love the native folklore touch to it. A definite must read.This trilogy has been one of the best. This is the 5th book in the Masters of the Consulate series and although each love story can be read as a standalone, I would wholeheartedly recommend reading the series in order. The reason being that there is an ongoing storyline which links them all together and progresses which each book and previous characters/couples often make an appearance.
Each book focuses on a different Master of the Consulate and their mates as the underlying storyline unfolds. Each love story is unique, and the characters all have their own personalities which makes for an entertaining read. In this book it is Master Catteneo’s turn to be in the spotlight as he is given an important task and in working towards completing this, he meets Alessia his mate.
I enjoyed how their relationship progressed, initially they fight their attraction to one another and seem to hate each other but as they work together towards their goal, the attraction turns into something more. It’s not an easy journey towards their love and they face numerous obstacles, but I liked how these were tackled and the growth shown as a result.
The book is an easy read being fairly short and am always pleased when, as is the case here, the plot does not suffer as a result. The story wasn’t rushed which is sometimes a concern for me when reading shorter books and the writing style of the author flows easily which adds to my enjoyment of reading as it felt natural and not stilted.
I have enjoyed the entire series and love the author’s way of spinning a story and getting me invested in the characters’ lives. I cannot wait for the next couple of books to me released, I find myself double-checking the release dates often in anticipation!
If you’re looking for an enjoyable paranormal romance with some action and mystery, look no further!

I have to say this book had me hooked right from the very start! This author creates such wonderful storylines and characters you just can’t resist them. With such fantastic writing it is so easy to imagine the people and places she describes. I think my heart also engages because as a fellow Aussie I know the places she mentions and it just gives me the warm fuzzies LOL.
It is so easy to see that Ryan and Grace are meant to be together if only they’d get out of their own way! Moments in their pasts have made them both create different walls around themselves in order to feel protected from what life may throw at them. While trying to work out who is out to try and take Graces family farm they both little by little chip away at those walls and learn more and more not only about each other but also about themselves.

Storyteller was not my first Manda Mellet book but I came out of this one loving it just as much as I did the others I’ve read from this author. I think this is a great start to a new series, I look forward to reading the rest of the series as they are released. Although, I was crushed at the beginning of this book and my heart went out to storyteller with what he had to experience I really wondered where the author would go from there. Storyteller being who he is and finding that book would definitely have been an act of fate, especially with everything that it led too. I was especially hooked when he really started pushing the club to go and rescue Sheri. I didn’t want their story to end but I was glad to see the conflict resolve and the two of them have a wonderful, happy ending.

StoryTeller’s Tale: Wretched Soulz MC
I know this book was written as part of a series based on an actual signing event (which I was hoping to attend, but can’t) but I am so hopeful that this is the beginning of a Wretched Soulz series.
This is the only author of MC books I will read without question. There is just some about her writing that grabbed me and will not let me go.
Storyteller is quite an appropriate name for him. Though a nomad he keeps his brother entertained when he is around, but those stories don’t hold a candle to what happens to him in real life.
Just when I think she may run out of ideas or characters she gives another gem.
