The Sisterhood of Secrets (The Gods’ Scion Book 4) by Winnifred Tataw – Review by Shelly Kittell

The Sisterhood of SecretsThe Sisterhood of Secrets by Winnifred Tataw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the most intense of all the books. Arcelia finds out that not everything or everyone is as she thinks. The secrets around her family are quite large and the lies are many. Roderick is trying to be the best boyfriend and has his own issues to take care of. I found the story to be well-written. I loved the details and the characters. The substory around the hair was quite fascinating. The role of women in this story was interesting to see. Though they had issues that had some with lies and secrets, others were strong and brave. It’s always nice to see strong women in a story. The flow was smooth. My favorite part was Celia standing up to her family. I believe that took a lot of courage. This is a must read. Because the story is a continuation of the first two books, I do suggest you read it in order.

Married Blind (King of Screen Book 2) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Lauren West

Married Blind (Kings of Screen, #2)Married Blind by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes. This book hit the mark for everything needed. Humor, drama, love, angst, and the almighty when it’s right it’s right. Abi was a great down to earth girl and you can’t help but love her. Finn was the actor and bad boy who needed a touch up to his image. Together they both have things they need within the other and although random it’s a story where love is born.

Be careful what you wish for!! Something we have been told again and again, but poor Bax had to learn the hard way! This novel is Modern And Dark, and I Loved It! It is a great YA novel for those who like their stories a little dark and gritty. It was definitely a unique and modern spin on an ancient evil. This book had an Aladdin feel to it in a todays world setting. It was 100% a page turner!

This book really blew me away, full of great word building, an interesting storyline, and of course intelgent writing this book was phenomenal. While this is the first book that I have read from this author, I just simply couldn’t put it down. The character development was amazing, by specifically wanting Leo grow was just mesmerizing as I furiously flipped the pages for more. So if you need a new read make sure you pick this one up today.

Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 1) by Russell Archey – Review by Dahnielle Hibbert

Ashes of AldyrAshes of Aldyr by Russell Archey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first read of a book by Russell Archey. I was prepared for a typical dystopian fantasy tale, was I ever wrong. Nothing about Ashes of Aldyr is typical. It has a unique premise and writing style with unique characters and with what I like to call “grab you by the throat and drag you between the covers” feel to it.
The story begins with an event known as “The Rupture”. Instantly throwing the reader into the action, drama and plight of all characters that are affected. I love learning about each character’s specific challenge in each new chapter. The characters and world Mr. Archey created is so detailed you really get a sense of having been there and met the characters.
I felt this was a great entry book to this series and can’t wait for book two!!

My rating 5 out of 5

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) By: James Talisman is an extraordinary read. There is no way to catch all the nuances in this book from just one read. There is so much going on through out these pages. Seriously this book has it all: action, adventure, betrayal, love, intrigue. I could go on but instead I will just say I will not only be reading the next book but I will be rereading this book to meditate on all that is revealed in this book.

The Last Keeper of the Light: a Dystopian Fantasy by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Krystal Gregory

The Last Keeper of the Light, a Dystopian Fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
4 out of 5 stars

Dystopian fantasy books are not my normal go to genres, but this post-apocalyptic story had be drawn in and it would not let me go. Fans of The Hunger Games and the Divergent Series will loves this book from author Nikki Broadwell. While it did take me a bit to get use to the back and forth of the narration between past and present,, once I understood what the authors intent was, I feel easily into the pages.
Sandal and Jacob are the two main characters in this story and theirs is both heartwarming and terrifying all at the same time. Sandal is learning that the world around her is a do or die world. The Do is to survive, and survive she must. Survival is not easy. Everyday is a trial, and the people she meets can be described as the devil incarnate. Jacob on the other hand, is her black knight in shining armor. While he isn’t perfect. He is perfectly what she needs. She finds peace, comfort and solace with Jacob. Their relationship grows. By how much, you will have to read the book to find out.
This world is highly detailed and vastly built. Ms Broadwell gives you just enough to allow your imagination to build the rest without overwhelming you too much. The story is fast paced, so you are never bored, yet you are not feeling as if you cannot keep up. I highly recommend this book.

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Emily Brockschmidt

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasyThe Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I find myself a little speechless as I have just finished “The Last Keeper of the Light” by Nikki Broadwell. This intense dystopian novel is about Sandal, only a child when the end of days begins, and her life long struggle for survival. Sandal and her people know the grid has gone down but the why is always on her mind. Many times in this book, I see direct correlations to current events in 2018. Nikki Broadwell has woven a beautifully dark tale that rings all too true in parts of the story. Her ability to blend facts with fantasy is wonderful and almost prophetic of a future we may actually be facing. This isn’t a high fantasy filled with creatures that don’t exist, so it’s even scarier for me since the world she laid out is eerily possible. It is a fantasy after all, so some bits you need to keep an open mind about. I’m normally not one to read apocalyptic novels, but the description of this one really hooked me and kept me fascinated until the very end. I wasn’t sure how this book would end but I can tell you I was very surprised. Her vision for this story was truly compelling and even if the ending left me a little out of sorts, I can appreciate how Nikki Broadwell came to it. So, I give “The Last Keeper of the Light” five stars!

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasyThe Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell is a story where the world is no longer what it was and survival is for the fittest and cunning. It is a story of hunger and loss, violence and horrors, fear and longing. It is a story of a world that no longer has humanity, where everything is cold, dark and bleak. This story being set in a post apocalyptic world sees a lot of heartbreak and evil and glimpses that are also heartwarming. It makes you realise that we are lucky to live in a world such as we have and shows what it could be like if things took a turn for the worst. An interesting read.

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Heather Bahm

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasyThe Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nikki Broadwell’s The Last Keeper of the Light is a dystopian fantasy. This science fiction themed novel is that dares to shift what we know to a complete different realm than what we believe to be ahead of us. It pushes to apocalyptic events that create a hallowing view of how lives must be fought for and the difficult paths being embarked. The main character, Sandal, is one that must make unimaginable decisions to survive and how to proceed as new people come in/out of her life as she is on her journey to survive. This novel captures your mind as you’re reading and pulls you into the story. It was very well written and addictive to finish.
