No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Lianne Probert

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance is the first book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.

Oh my goodness, I loved this book. This is not my first book by Amy McKinley, so I already had high expectations when I started reading, and this book did not disappoint.
Liliana is nothing more than a pawn in her father’s wicked games. He sees her as a bargaining chip, and she is trapped in this dangerous and suffocating world until he sets her free. I love the strength and fierceness of Liliana, she is feisty and smart in the face of uncertainty and betrayal.
Max is assigned to be Liliana’s bodyguard, but this is no accident as he has a dark history and past that he is determined to save Liliana from. I love the style of writing in this book, it feels as though the author has really found her words with this genre, I couldn’t stop reading.
I can’t wait for book two!

Amy McKinley never disappoints me. This was so good, you have Mafia Princess Liliana who is a total boss. The phrase “She is beauty, she is grace, she will punch you in the face” is the best way I can describe her. She knows that her father is using her as a pawn to get the best deal to save himself and will not go quietly. Matt is her ticket to freedom but he has secrets and once he unleashes the truth there is no coming back from it. This book was packed with action, love, spice, and friendship. Amy McKinley blew me away with it and I cannot wait to read the next one!

This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up, she never lets me down. I am pulled into the story from the beginning by the characters. The author’s use of details make her story feel realistic. Her characters are connectable and keep the story engaging. This book is no different. It is well written and the characters brought the story to life on each page. This is a story of an arranged marriage along with secrets and who doesn’t love a hot, steamy mafia man. This is a story about Max and Liliana. They are great, strong characters that have awesome chemistry. I also enjoyed the growth throughout the story with them. She is born into power but is just a pawn for her father. He wants what’s his and revenge against those who wronged him. You don’t want to miss what happens with them. This is a must read story that I highly recommend.

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Mafia Elite series. This is a fantastic start to a new series and the kind of book you will have to read in one sitting.
I have come to learn with this author that it doesn’t matter what she writes it is always amazing. So much so that I picked up this book without reading the description, no hesitations. I was completely swept away by this story from the second I started reading. I connected with the characters and with their journey. I was taken on their highs and lows and experienced everything with them. I didn’t want this book to end – even more so because it read it so quickly.
This is an explosive start to a new series and I am already chomping at the bit for the second book.

This book will have you hooked from start to finish! I loved the mystery and intrigue of Matt / Max’s identity, the badassness of the mafia princesses, and the loyalty/hate the characters had for one another.

At first it was a bit confusing keeping all the family trees separate, and I had to flip to the beginning of the book a couple of times to see the tree they provided, but I feel it was really well written and easy to understand after a short time of getting to know the characters.

I like that the book had more than one point of view so you got both main characters’ thoughts and feelings. I’m very interested to see where things go in the next book!

Forged by Secrets is the third installment to Amy McKinleys Deadly Isles Special Ops series and all this reader can say is that it’s just as amazing as the first two. Having read the first books in this series I was thrilled when book three came out and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Once again Ms. McKinley provides us with great characters, a gripping plot, and overall a story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Personally I love second chance love stories and that’s exactly what Ms. McKinley gives her readers here a second chance love story filled with drama, suspense, and so much more that this reader can’t wait to see what happens next.

I have read books 1 and 2 in this series as well, but this one was my favorite. I am a big fan of Ty. I knew I would be when I read first two books. His intuition – loved that characteristic. I also didn’t see a few things coming. I really liked Malina’s backstory which felt fresh and different from any book I’ve ever read- just a different take on civil unrest. I also liked that the conflict she experienced in her country influenced decisions even years later – felt like a realistic reaction. I was into the plotline that began in book one and continued in this book. I was definitely invested in the outcome. The takeaway from this story for me was how grief is different for everyone. Grief can be messy. Grief can be silent. It depends on the individual. I think the author does a great job of portraying that emotion in this story.

Can I just say I LOVE Author Amy McKinley’s Deadly Isles series!!! I am just so invested. This is book 3 of this series and does not disappoint. This is the story of Malina and Ty. Malina was sent to the States by her parents to live and be safe with her aunt and uncle, and just in the nick of time… Ty and Malina hook up in Vegas for some fun, but deep down Ty knew Malina was this one for him. Years later Malina is being accused of treason….and she flees to Ty’s house to be safe and to find out whom is framing her for treason. Ty is there to help find out whom framed Malina. I just love this whole story, Ty and Malina’s love for each other and did not want this book to end. There were a few twists I did not see coming! I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning as you also get to know Ty’s brothers, Jaxon and Xander as well. This is truly a fantastic series!!!

Tyler a hot, sexy Navy SEAL, has always wanted Malina. Malina, analyst for the SEALS, is struggling to overcome a past that haunts her every day. Knowing that Tyler is nothing but temptation, Malina avoids him like the plague. Until the day she is accused of treason and has nowhere else to turn–except to Tyler. When Tyler returns from his latest mission and learns Malina is not only in trouble but is missing, he will stop at nothing to save the woman he loves.

The third book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series, Forged by Secrets is just as exciting and fun as the first two. Malina and Tyler are great characters, right in line with Tyler’s brothers from the earlier novels. Amy McKinley knows how to write a heart pounding(in more ways than one!) novel. This series has been one of my favorites I have read in a while, and I look forward to reading more of Amy’s books in the future!

Wow! Melina and Tyler has to be my favorite story of the trilogy. Sad story as it is, Melina gets sent to the US from Venezuela by her parents because her friends were caught speaking out trying to help others (very realistic). Tragedy follows Melina which makes it hard for her to trust. Tyler, class clown, has been attracted to her since high school but they have often fought. Tyler is a SEAL dealing with his own issues. What happens in Vegas comes home from Vegas, even if you don’t remember it. Tyler and Melina have lots to work out. Just like the rest of us, they deal with their issues the best they can. I find myself telling the characters what do like I’m right there with them. These characters feel like friends. The plot feels ripped from current headlines. I love the location descriptions of headlines. I want to visit the islands.

I’ve picked up this book and realized it was the third in this series. That was ok though because reading so many of this author’s books I knew I didn’t have to worry. She made this really easy for me to jump into and also made it impossible for me to not read the first two.

In normal Amy McKinley fashion I could not put this book down. I literally read it in two sittings with only about an hour break between the two. The suspense and edge of your seat reading made it impossible to put down. I loved these characters and can’t wait to get the other characters’ stories. There was just enough of everything, Romance, danger, suspense, mystery, and even a touch of humor which I loved!

I will read anything this author comes out with. She has the ability to grab me at word one and I feel like I always must finish once I start.

I hope there is more to come for this series, and if so I’ll be ready after hopefully reading the first two by then.

Love It!!

Riley is a barista who has gone through a rough life. She is being stalked by a mystery person who is making people think she is crazy. Enter Xander, a hot SEAL, dealing with his own troubles. The chemistry abounds with these two. They form a friendship. Will the sparks flow as they work through the issues at hand? A copycat killer from a thriller? A romance gone crazy? This book was fabulous. I had to remind myself to breathe. The author again scores a home run with characters that feel so real. Their personalities remind me of some of the “friends” in my life. I felt every emotion Riley went through. Her rough life felt a little close to home which is why I think I felt it so hard. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? Do it!

This was a great ending to this trilogy! It was an edge-of-the-seat read to try and figure out the conclusion to who leaked important information for the Navy SEALS and to find out Tyler’s story in all of this!
Malina Johansson is an analyst for the Navy Seals and just so happens to work on the team of her high school crush, Tyler.
When a night in Vegas changes their relationship Malina must open herself up to the opportunity of a relationship with Tyler and put her past behind her, that is until it becomes part of her present. When Malina is accused of treason and flees, she runs to the only man who can keep her safe, Tyler and his family’s island.
Together, along with Tyler’s brothers, they figure out who caused the trouble with the Navy SEALs missions and figure out how they can have a lasting relationship together.
I really enjoyed the series and how each book was about one of the brothers and included information not only about their relationship with the woman of their dreams but also about secrets from the past and intertwined the Navy missions as well! I had a difficult time putting these books down and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves suspense novels with a mix of romance! You won’t be disappointed in this series!
Amy McKinley is a new author to me, and I can’t wait to read her next series and get lost once again in her characters and storylines!

I just can’t get enough of this author!! In Forged by Secrets, Melina tries extremely hard to avoid and keep her walls up when encountering a Navy SEALs “frenemy”, Ty. However, she knows she is so drawn to him, so when she is accused of treason the first person she thinks she could trust to help her is Ty. This is a pretty quick read and from the start has action. Amy McKinley has done it again! If you ever want to get lost in a book, Amy is the author for you. From the first chapter of Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 3) I was hooked and did not want to put it down. Tyler and Malina are strong and complex characters that you instantly love and feel for. Of all three Deadly Isles Special Ops books, this one tugged at my heart the most. It was equally as packed with thrills and romance as the others. With this series, any of the books can be read alone which is enjoyable. It is definitely worth it to read them all though, you get a better sense of the characters and it builds more of a relationship to them. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

Let me start off by saying that I elected to read this series, and specifically this installment in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series, due to the namesakes within. My daughter’s name, believe it or not, is Malina. The fact that this author and I share the name Amy, as well as seeing her name being that of the female lead in this book made it even more tempting. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Not only was I enthralled by the story line and the depths in which it took me, but I was once again blown out of the water by the character building, the back stories for both Malina, and Tyler, and the involvement of the other two Hale brothers that I had come to love from reading the previous two books. This Author is one to watch, and I wish I had all the time in the world to immerse myself in the adventures of a lifetime that are brought on by Amy McKinley’s magic. I do believe that Forged by Secrets is my favorite book in the series, as the twists and turns keep coming, and kept me on my toes. I was covered in goosebumps from head to toe from the first, to the last page. I highly suggest carving out a weekend for this beauty, and you won’t be disappointed. Keep them coming, please!

Events that will forge her future and leave her with a secret past are just the prelude to this steamy, suspenseful secret ops story.

Building on this foundation into current day Pearl Harbour, the author leads us into a delicious dance between Tyler, Navy Seal and Malina, a Special Ops Analyst.. a tug of war that will eventually run out of rope. Who knew office romances could be so dangerous!

Amy does an amazing job at captivating her audience with a book that is just impossible to stop reading once you start reading. Forged by Secrets is the absolute perfect ending to a trilogy about brothers and the women they have fallen in love with. Tyler is chasing the shot of loving a woman that is too scared to be loved. Malina is scared of her past but when push comes to shove she realizes the one person she can truly count on is the one person she is terrified to rely on because she is unsure she could handle him hurting her too. Forged by Secrets is book three in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley.
You could read this as a standalone, but personally it is best read in order.
I enjoyed reading this story with all its twists and turns. I love how we get to know the characters and how the rest of this story plays out.

All three books flow together nicely and will keep you reading. Tyler & Malina’s story is my favorite of the three. We get flashbacks of Malina’s past and there are secrets that she does not want anyone to know about.
She is an analyst for the Navy SEALS and is accused of treason and is now on the run. She needs help to clear her name and reveal who the real mole is. There is only one person she can turn to.
Tyler, the youngest Hale brothers, and the only brother that is still a Navy SEAL, will do whatever it takes to keep Malina safe and help clear her name.

Amy McKinley did an amazing job pulling me into the story and keeping me there.
If you enjoy reading romantic suspense filled with action and adventure, I highly recommend this book.

I’m thrilled to have discovered Amy McKinley through reading Moonlit Kiss. As my first book from this author, I didn’t know what to expect, and was a little hesitant to start, but let me say that I was blown away. The way this author develops her main characters, Giana and Sergio, and draws you right into Venice with them, is second to none. The tragic history behind this love story just gives the characters more reason to fight for their happy ending. The author has a way with knowing how to include just enough detail to draw you in and keep the reader enthralled from start to finish. I can’t say enough goods things about this book. If I had to make one minor suggestion, I would have liked to see more Italian and French language squeezed in here and there, given the characters lineage, but that’s just my preference.
