Eye of the Storm (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 2) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Carly Vogler

Eye of the Storm by Amy McKinley is the second book in the Gray Ghost Series, but it can be read as a stand alone story. (Though you’ll want to read it because Amy McKinley writes amazing stories.)

I was excited to find the same narrator performed both stories, as she really helped bring the story to life.

Chris has found himself in a terrible situation. He is alone, injured, and unable to remember anything about his life previously. The lady supposed to be his wife, is by his side and helping, but in trouble herself. Can he save them both and bring back his memory?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by Amy McKinley because the books McKinley writes keeps me guessing, keeps me entertained and keeps me coming back for more. This new series is not any different. The characters are engaging and fun to read about. Poor Riley, if she didn’t have all the bad luck possible, she wouldn’t have any luck at all. Enter Xander. He has his share of crap as well. But as fate would have it, these two meet and try to change their luck.
This story is the first in a new series which does reference another of McKinley’s series, The Gray Ghost Novels. But can be read without reading the other series (but you really should). Warning: this story isn’t overly sexy, but the adventure part is a little…extra. Also, this story has unanswered questions so book 2 is a must.

I really enjoyed the narrator telling the story and found her voice very soothing and I enjoyed her telling the story. I really didn’t like Alex as a character thought he was a bit of a wanker, especially how he reacted to something (don’t want to say because of spoilers). I really liked the plot and enjoyed the story. There were times through this book where I was like I really couldn’t care what happened to these characters and then I was like oh my god this got better. I really enjoyed where the story went, the twists and turns. I really enjoyed the writing. I loved the letter bit at the end that hit me in the feels.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Meg Tyrrell

I enjoyed listening to this book a lot. I’m a big fan of Amy McKinley books and this one didn’t disappoint. I’m excited this is a new series to me and look forward to the next book in the A Gray Ghost Novel books. This book has our lead female character Liv (Olivia) Wrightwood, an artist who lost her parents in a tragic car accident. She’s married to Alex Mudarra, an up-and-coming NYPD detective. Through her fight for survival she meets Liam who helps her get through some daring situations. This was a great listen and the narrator did a great job! RECOMMEND!

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 by Amy McKinley AUDIOBOOK

Another amazing read by McKinley. Broken Circle is an amazing book especially when you listen to the audio. McKinley knows how to write and she knows how to capture her readers. Regan Brown had me wanting more.

Olivia aka Liv is the wife of the NYPD Detective and soon to be politician. Hiding something from him is killing her, but it’s the right thing to do. The quote I chose for Liv is: “I hope you’re right.”

Alex is a NYPD Detective and heading into politics. He doesn’t want to have kids to be used against him. He is hiding his past from Olivia and she doesn’t know the extent. The quote I chose for Alex is: “I’m sorry babe. I have no intentions of hiding anything, other than a job, from you. There are no mistresses and never will be. You’re it for me.”

Highly recommended for Romance lovers.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Betsy Melano

I seem to be in an Amy McKinley kick lately – every book has been a joy to read! Broken Circle didn’t disappoint. This first nook in the Gray Ghost series, it has love, intrigue, suspense, awesome characters, and so much more. Alex and Olivia seem to have a great relationship at least that’s what Olivia believes. One day she overhears a phone conversation that makes her wonder what Alex might be hiding. It doesn’t help that Alex doesn’t want kids and Olivia happens to find herself pregnant. You won’t want to miss the what happens!
The Narrator, Regan Brown, does a wonderful job with the different characters and adds to the story.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 1) by Amy McKinley is a crime romance story with lots of suspense. Amy is a go to author and I loved her Gray Ghosts series and the swoon worthy men that are spilling over into this series. As I have come to expect from Amy the story is wonderfully written and the world building is superbly done. The characters are well developed and it is a compelling story. Action and lies, secrets and hopes, intensity and intrigue are just some of the things that will have this book glued to your hand. Throw in an ex SEAL or two or more and some sizzling romance and you have a winner.

Being dumped after a failed mission or so it looks and at a low point in his life Xander finds himself helping and drawn to a young woman who has some strange events happening to her.

I cannot wait to see where Amy takes this series.

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Twisted SecretsTwisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the story of Riley Evans and Xander Hale, she is a grad student and works in a coffee shop, he is a SEAL who is on leave after a medical procedure to remove shrapnel from his shoulder after his latest mission took a turn for the worse and a last minute change of plan meant that one of his brothers in arms was killed. He is not happy and when he finds out that he guy who was leading the team has also stolen his girlfriend, he is in no shape to go on missions, so he is made to go on a further few weeks of leave and he decides to make the most of it and do some renovations on his families homes on a nearby island.

Next Riley is at the coffee shop and about to start her shift, she greets a customer, a customer who has become a friend over the time she has been frequenting her coffee shop while she writes her books and complains that the other servers get her order wrong, unlike Riley. She chats with a coworker as she finishes her shift about the pizza get together she missed because of her homework and about a customer, she also hints that she has had some books published herself under a pen name. As she delivers the customer’s order, Riley is intrigued by the book she is reading and asks about it, it turns out that her coworker recommended it and that it is a really good one, Riley considers getting a copy for herself, just as a customer is putting it away, the book, a pair of designer sunglasses fall out of her bag, Riley picks them up for her, compliments her on them and then gets back to serving coffee until a new customer peaks her interest.

As Xander is heading to the local hardware store to buy what he needs for the renovations, while he thinks about how it would be nice if he could find someone to have a relationship with like the one his parents have, but he doesn’t think that it is something which will happen, he also thinks about his friend who was killed, that is until he hears a voice which calls to him from inside the coffee shop he is passing, this is where he sees a woman who looks like his type and he feels a connection to her which he cannot explain, so he goes inside and when he locks eyes with her, he knows she is something special. Riley has no idea how to react when she is face to face with this gorgeous man who has just walked in, so she serves him and when he starts to flirt with her, she has to put some distance between them or she would lose her mind, so when she serves him his black coffee and when her boss shouts that it is on the house, she asks him who it was, little does she know that this isn’t going to be the last time that they bump into each other.

A few days later, Riley is exhausted after working a double shift and exercising to chase away her demons in her nightmares, she is heading to the hardware store and when she steps through the doorway, she slams straight into the guy from the coffee shop, she apologises and then has the most awkward conversation with him, until he asks her to lunch, she tells him she has a boyfriend, but he counters with he would just like her company, so she agrees to go. This time the conversion isn’t as awkward and they have a good time and as they say goodbye, her mind wanders to her boyfriend and how they were arguing more and he seemed distant and when he cancels on her by text, she is even less impressed. When he calls her up demanding to know where she is her hackles raise and she tells him that she didn’t agree to go see him, he makes his excuses for not spending time with her and blames it on her as usual, but when she gets home and sees that her front door is open, she has something else to worry about, but she is late for a shopping trip with her friend and so she tries not to think about it while they have a girls afternoon together.

As the days pass, Riley begins to wonder why she is even with her boyfriend, how everything is on his terms and how he seems to act like she is just a warm body and nothing else, she is also thinking about Xander and how it is so easy and different while she is spending time with him and eventually makes the decision to break up with him, but when he refuses to give up on her and someone breaks into her apartment again, she has to get the police involved and things start to take a more sinister turn, including her night terrors and the past memories they bring with them. Can her and Xander’s budding relationship develop while her past is threatening to tear them apart and who is breaking into her apartment, is it her ex, or someone else? The only way to find out the answers is to read along with this thrilling adventure which twists and turns so much, you won’t know until the very end what will happen.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series. This author always delivers a strong story line with some great characters and this book has all the usual hallmarks.
Riley and Xander are interesting characters. They have a depth to them that a lot of characters lack and it all adds to their story. They are the kind of characters that you can’t help but get behind from the get go.
The story itself was quite a quick read but thoroughly enjoyable. I connected with the story easily and found that I read it in no time at all. It feels like this book is setting up the rest of the series and is a great introduction to some new and familiar characters. This is a great book by an amazing author and I would definitely recommend it.

Twisted Secrets is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. This book sets the series off to superb start with wonderful characters, an exciting storyline full of action, danger, violence, drama, sizzle, intrigue, tension, mystery, suspense, adventure, family dynamics, banter, humour, finding love unexpectedly, and romance. It is a bit of a spin-off from the Gray Ghosts series- so I am excited to see where it will all lead.
After a mission goes awry, Xander is forced to take some down-time to recover. He has had a string of bad luck lately- including the failed mission, and his girlfriend dumping him. He also can’t seem to shake the suspicious feeling that there was more to the failed mission than what they were led to believe.
Riley is a grad student working as a barista in a local coffee shop, to make ends meet. When her relationship ends badly, and strange things begin to happen- Xander is there to yank her to safety. Will he be able to keep her safe? And will he figure everything out? This is well worth the read to find out.
Riley and Xander were such great characters, and I really enjoyed following along on their adventure. I loved how Ms. McKinley wove a spicy romance through a wonderfully suspenseful tale- including all the mystery surrounding Xander’s failed mission and his SEAL team. The underlying storyline looks set to continue into the next book/rest of the series- so I am really looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us in the next instalment.
Another completely engrossing and intriguing read- with all the intensity, sparks, chemistry, tension, and dramatic developments I have come to expect from Ms. McKinley!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

I have had the pleasure of reading a few books by Ms. McKinley,  but until this book I had not had the pleasure of listening to one until this one.  I throughly enjoyed the story as well as the narrator (Regan Brown) being able to grab and keep my attention.

Cade and Nadia’s story has romance, suspense and second chances all while in paradise

I loved the connection to a previous series and gasped when I caught it.  This is a quick listen and quite enjoyable.   Looking forward to listening to more.

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) Audio Book by Amy McKinley

A short, fast moving romance between Nadia and Cade full of suspense and intrigue. The two met 5 years before when Cade’s car went over a bridge into a river due to an accident. Nadia kept him safe by diving into the river and giving him much needed air. It is short but a wonderful introduction to these two characters. I hope that I find any book(s) that these two show up in. This is my first book by this author that I’m excited to check out her books in the future. Nadia has a secret she doesn’t want Cade to find out because she is worried he will not forgive her for it…
The book is narrated by Regan Brown, who did a wonderful job.

Five Stars

Broken Circle is the first book in the Gray Ghost series by Amy McKinley. This book is a great start to what I hope is an amazing series. At first I didn’t know what to think about it, but the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I spent all day listening and had to charge my ear buds twice , but it was well worth it. Liv is such a strong character. I love how she grew throughout the story. This book is definitely a five + star for me. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the books in this series.

This is the first book I have listened to that was narrated by Regan Brown. I really enjoyed the tenor of her voice. She really brought all of the characters to life. I’m definitely putting her on my go to narrator list.

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Carrie Reed

5 stars!

At first I wasn’t sure where this book was going, so I was kind of conflicted about how I would feel about it in the end. I was quickly sucked into the story and the characters lives. I was not so patiently waiting for the story to continue quickly so that I could find out what role each character was playing and what would happen. Nadia seems like such a sweetheart, I really like how she fell in love with Cade and couldn’t follow through with her mission, and still wanted to get a glimpse of him years later. The fact that Cade has a near death experience and still manages to remember the girl who saved him years prior proves in my mind, that they are meant to be. They both follow their gut when it comes to each other and knowing that they are forever. I really enjoyed the drama the unfolded when Cade’s sister notices Nadia and finding out the organization Nadia works for and why. I was sad to have this story end, I was wanting more but was satisfied with the ending.

The characters are complex and relatable, they pulled me right in and I didn’t want to leave. I happily got lost in the pages with them for a while. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. But the characters truly bring it to life and I loved the time I got to spend with them. This is the frist book in the Gray Ghost series. Alex and Liv are married couple. This book is full of romance and suspene. Olivia is a very sweet and naivie character at times. A surprise whisk away and a conversation that wasn’t meant to be heard. I love Liam he’s so attentive. I found was the reader read really fast and I struggled to keep up with her at first. Moonlit Whisper (An Irish Romance)Moonlit Whisper by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story was very enjoyable, although too short. Fiona, Lach, and Conner are all strong characters who are different in many ways but each with their own strengths. I thought that the author did a great job of giving you just a taste of each characters background and then bringing it all together. This author doesn’t put in a bunch of extra fluff words which I really like. I thought that Fiona was a strong female character who knew what she wanted and made it happen. The romance was very sweet and I could see all the characters from this book being in a full length novel and driving it remarkably well.

Moonlit Whisper by Amy McKinley is a novella in the Moonlit Destination Series. This book can be read as a standalone.

Fiona agrees to help the new transfer student from the football team. She definitely had no reason to believe it would be Connor. What were the chances? She thought she’d never see him again. Will they be able to rekindle the closeness they had or is there too much history?

I truly enjoyed reading this book even though it was on the shorter side. I wouldn’t complain about reading more of Fiona and Connor’s story! It was very well written you just get sucked in until the end!

This was a short and sweet story. You don’t really learn much about the characters since it’s so short. You do get a lot of background history about Fio, Lach and Connor. I found the relationship dynamic interesting. I didn’t like how Fio kept talking about how she needed Connor and he wasn’t there. Like she wouldn’t have survived without a guy to lean on. Like he had no choice. Her relationship with Lach was so fake I saw the outcome s mile away. I loved how the necklace played a part in this. The fairies waking her up was extremely cute. Overall a nice quick read

This is another great read by Amy McKinley. McKinley knows how to draw readers in and keep them wanting more.

Fiona is a fourth year college student and is happy. At least she thinks she is. When the boy from next door moves back things change. The quote I chose for Fiona is: “I’m glad you’re back, Connor, but I’m not yours anymore. I’m engaged to Lachlan.”

Connor left his hometown to get away from his abusive dad. When he comes back he finds that things have changed. When Fiona ends her engagement he gets another chance. The quote I chose for Conner is: “It’s our turn, Fio, like we were always meant to be. I’m never leaving you again.”

Moonlit Whisper was a great read for me. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Fiona, Connor and Lachlan were all childhood friends. Fio ( Fiona ) always left her window unlocked for Connor and he spent most nights sleeping in her bed. Connor was having major family issues and he left town because he was able to play soccer and get away from his family problems. Now he’s back and he wishes everything could go back to how they were before he left. Only problem is, Fiona and Lachlan are together now and Lachlan isn’t giving her up without a fight. Once best of friends now compete at nearly everything. Who will win the girl? Read this quick novella to find out what happens.
