Bared is the first book in the Green St. Girls series by N.D Jackson. I have loved reading N.D Jackson’s other books, so when I saw this, I snapped up a copy and dove right in to see what she had in store for us this time. It is a great read- a contemporary romance- with wonderful characters. The story had all the ingredients to keep me avidly reading- and before I knew it I had devoured the whole story- in one sitting. As expected, N.D Jackson writes beautifully- her descriptive details brought the story to life- the characters especially are really well developed, complex, and quite endearing. I loved meeting Athena and the rest of the Green St. Girls- add Tru to the mix and the story really shines! Can’t wait for more. Bring on Book #2! A great start to a new series! Happy Reading!

Fury of Conviction is the second book in the Dragonfury Short Story Collection by Coreene Callahan. Who doesn’t love a great dragon shifter story- I know I do! So, it was never any question that I would snap up a copy of this book the moment I saw it in my notifications. Coreene Callahan is a ‘new-to-me’ author and I am really baffled as to why I haven’t come across her books before now, because after doing a little stalking- er, um, I mean research, I discovered that she has written a slew of Dragonfury books, and as I mentioned before, I LOVE dragon shifter stories, so I am kicking myself that I have been missing out all this time, and I hate missing out on good books lol…. Anyway, I digress, back to my review. This is a great little paranormal romance, with DRAGON SHIFTERS 😊, fantasy, kidnapping, drama, agendas, chemistry, and action. It was a great introduction to Ms. Callahan’s style, and definitely gave me a taste for her work. The only issue I have is that I wish it had been longer (this is a novella length quick and easy read) as there were aspects of the story I would like to have explored in greater detail. It really made me curious about the pack and the Dragonfury ‘world’- so I will definitely be going back to explore the rest of the Dragonfury books/series- as there seems to be quite a lot of full length novels there for me to sink my teeth into…. so stay tuned.

Finding It All is the first book in the Finding Happiness In Harmony series and debut novel for Stacey Komosinski. It is a contemporary romancey with a ‘slow burn’, in a small town setting, with friendship/s, finding love unexpectedly, and a ‘sweet’ feel. I am such a book junkie that I get a bit of a thrill when I discover a new author (i.e.- new reading material), so I happily one-clicked a copy to explore. I love a great romance, and the synopsis for this had all the ingredients that I love- so I couldn’t wait to meet Chloe and Chris and follow their story. The story was a little slow to get going and did lag at points through the book. I ‘liked’ it- but it didn’t ‘hook’ me the way I had really hoped for. As this is the first book in the series, and the author’s debut novel, I would be interested in reading the rest of the series to see where we go from here, and to see how Ms. Komosinski’s style develops along the way.

Sign Steal Deliver (Gods of Thunder MC #2) by Carrie Pulkinen is such a fantastic Paranormal Romantic Comedy- with Greek Gods, shifters, magic, fantasy, humour, witches, chemistry, romance, danger, drama, and plenty of fun. I love everything Carrie Pulkinen writes, so when I saw this pop up in my notifications I squealed, grabbed myself a copy and jumped right in. And let me say, Ms. Pulkinen didn’t disappoint!! I was swept up in a really great, fun, and intriguing adventure. What do you get when you mix Greek Gods with MC, add a minxy shifter, stealing from the god of thieves magic, the Underworld, danger, spice, high stakes, and a ticking clock? Well, this book really is worth your time and money to find out. I loved Kat and Hermes- I was invested in their story right from the beginning. Carrie Pulkinen is such a master of paranormal romance. I really can’t wait to see what she does next!

Avenging Devil Part Two (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego) by Manda Mellett continues from where we left off in part one- so if you haven’t read the first part you really should put this one aside until you have. Trust me, you are going to want to read all the OMG, heart pounding, heart wrenching, edge of your seat details contained in book one, before finding out what happens next, here. Part one ended on an intense cliffhanger that had me yelling at my Kindle and swearing at Manda Mellett (sorry Ms. Mellett)- but thankfully I didn’t have to wait too long to get my hands on part two, and let me tell you, it was worth every minute of the angst I went through at the end of part one. Hands down, one of the best books I’ve read this year! Brilliant!

Bittersweep by Wareeze Woodson is an American historical romance, set in Texas in 1897- this is a story full of mystery, suspense, secrets, danger, drama, hidden agendas, adventure, intrigue, romance, and more. This is my favourite of Ms. Woodson’s books, so far. I liked the storyline and the characters- I was swept away to 1897, ‘seeing’ the story unfold before my eyes. Even the issues that caused me some frustrating moments, didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. Elizabeth has arrived in Bittersweep to take up the teaching position that she accepted. She has a painful history with the town, secrets she must keep if she has any chance of uncovering the truth. That is until she has a chance encounter with the Chairman of the School Board. Things are off to an awkward, yet intriguing start. But with secrets to keep, sinister happenings, and hidden agendas- it’s not long before Elizabeth and JP are up to their ears in an investigation to track down a murderer, thieves, and a stolen horde of gold. Houses of Deception is the sixth book in The Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. I know I say this with every new release, but I LOVE this series soooo much!!! I am so happy I discovered Cynthia Hamilton, and Madeline Dawkins- they are definitely at the top of my ‘must read’ list. The story is very cleverly woven with lots of intriguing developments that pulled me further and further into the story. This story has all the ingredients that I have come to expect from a great read, and from Ms. Hamilton. There is plenty of mystery, suspense, danger, action, adventure, surprising developments, drama, tension, and other clever touches. As expected, Cynthia Hamilton, put Madeline and Mike through their paces- as well as crafting a very smart, tightly woven, and thought provoking mystery that had me glued to the pages as everything unfolded. I devoured it all in one sitting. This is a fantastic addition to the series which seem to get better and better with each new instalment. This could be read as a standalone, but I do not recommend doing that as you would be missing out on 5 other superb books that contain so much detail, past ‘adventures’, and character development. Trust me, it is worth starting this series at the beginning! So, if you love a cleverly crafted and thrilling mystery then what are you waiting for? Grab yourself a copy and dive in- but be prepared to develop a major addiction to Cynthia Hamilton’s stories- you’ll find that one book won’t be enough. So, limber up your ‘one-click’ finger and get set for an exciting ride! Can’t wait for “Other People’s Money” (Book #7)- it can’t get here soon enough!

Pet Me is the first book in The Toye Shoppe series by Angelique Jurd. This is my first read from Ms. Jurd, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in. I have found that most of my reads lately have been a bit on the intense and dark side- so, seeing this pop up on my recommended book list, I thought it looked like it might lighten things up and be a fun read- so I snapped up a copy and dove in. This is a sweet, contemporary MM romance, with an age gap, kink, pony play, toys (of the adult kind), and beautifully quirky characters. If you love sweet stories, MM romance, and a bit of kink- then this is definitely the book for you!

The Forsaken: Wraith is the first book in the Hidden Realms of Centuros series by Martin Ferguson. I was excited to see that not only had Mr. Ferguson released a new book, but it was also the start of a new series. I loved his previous series, so I was keen to see where this would take us. And I wasn’t disappointed! This is a young adult fantasy with action, adventure, trained assassins, a guild of thieves, fantastic world building, and much more. Alena has been through a lot- losing her family and everything she ever knew, her life becomes one of secrets and intensive training under the Guild of Thieves and Assassins. She emerges much later as a fully trained slayer. And so her adventure begins. With hidden agendas, danger, secrets to hold, and monsters to face- she will have to embrace all her training and keep her wits about her in order to face the odds. With this first book things are definitely shaping up to be a superb series! I absolutely love the cover on this book, and I am looking forward to seeing what book two has in store for us.

Awakening the Gods is the first book in the Rise of the Celtic Gods series by Kristin Gleeson. This is a wonderful mix of urban fantasy, adventure, Celtic folklore, magic, music, adventure, and romance- all wrapped up in a high stakes quest against a powerful adversary, and where our characters find themselves taking a path forged by fate, risking it all and laying everything on the line in order to save the day. I enjoyed this first book in the series and I will definitely keep an eye out for the next book.

Death of a Coupon Queen is the second book in the Sophie Parker Mystery series by new-to-me author, Jenna Harte. I love a cozy mystery, so when I saw this pop up on my recommended book list, I one-clicked, no questions asked. What I found was a an intriguing, well written story, with endearing and somewhat quirky characters. I realised as I started reading, that this is the second book in the series- and even though it can be read as a standalone, I was intrigued by several references in the story which had happened previously (Book #1)- so I will definitely be going back and reading the first book before snapping up Book when it releases. So if you love a good cozy mystery, with clever touches, some drama, and action- then you will definitely want to grab yourself a copy of ‘Death of a Coupon Queen’. Happy reading!

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! I really am having trouble finding the words to do this book the justice it deserves. This was such a brilliant, twisty, and unpredictable read that I really couldn’t put down till I had read every single last word! Those last few chapters- OMG!!! I did not see that coming, that’s for sure. So well done!! Highly recommended!!! Must read!!! The Third Nanny by Michele Pariza Wacek intrigued me from the moment I laid eyes on it. I quickly snapped up a copy and dove in as psychological thrillers are my favourite genre of all- and this one promised to be great. As this was my first read from Michele PW, I really didn’t know what to expect going in- but I am soooo happy that I found her, finally- I really don’t know why I haven’t come across her work before now as she has quite a few books to her name- but all is right in the world because now I have a new author to add to my ‘must read’ list. The most exciting thing is that she has so many more books for me to buy and devour!! I love that feeling of discovery! The thrill of knowing that you are about to go on an epic book binge with an author you know won’t disappoint and one who I know I will love whatever it is she chooses to write. For this little ol’ book worm, there is nothing better! From the moment I opened this book, the intrigue began. Janey receives a letter form her sister who has been missing for eight years. Eight years of not knowing what happened to her. Eight years of wondering why she left. Eight years of not knowing if she was even alive still. Then the letter arrives, and that in itself is a bit of a puzzle- the letter is somewhat disturbing, speaking of danger, and begging for help- but is it already too late? Janey is now desperate to find her sister. And so this amazing puzzle begins. Janey embarks on her quest that will see her unravelling the mystery of her sister’s disappearance, the secrets and lies that she will have to unwind in order to find the truth. Her journey of discovery had me on the edge of my seat the whole way along- trying to piece everything together before the final reveal. But the ‘big reveal’ left me reeling- I didn’t expect that at all. So well done!!! The last few chapters were intense!!! This is a gripping psychological thriller, with a stalker, twists and turns, layers, suspense, palpable tension, danger, an unpredictable storyline, secrets, lies, obsession, paranoia, trauma, investigation, emotion, and a quest for answers. There are flashbacks to past events that really help to build the backstory and also adds to the tension of the story. Things are definitely not what they seem on the surface. Michele PW certainly knows how to instil tension and a chilling, creepy factor to her storyline which made her book unputdownable! Can’t wait to explore the rest of her books. #MUSTREAD

Dark Bastard is the fifth book in the Dark Sparrow series by India Kells. I have been eagerly waiting for this book to kit my Kindle ever since finishing book four. As I have said so many times before, Ms. Kell’s never fails to deliver an exciting read, and this story certainly delivered on that count. It is becoming harder and harder to choose a favourite from the series as Ms. Kells ups the ante each and every time. This is a fantastic romantic suspense- full of tension, action, danger, chemistry, intrigue, dramatic developments, gripping and suspenseful details, complex characters, sizzle, romance, emotion, family , hope, love, and plenty more. As with every one of Ms. Kells’ books so far, I was hooked right from the beginning, I really couldn’t put it down and was glued to the pages- completely devouring it in a couple of hours as I needed to know what happens. As expected, the story is superbly written, with a complex and multi-layered storyline that proved to be not only emotional, but also an exciting and incredibly engrossing read. This is Sam and Ellie’s story- and OMG did I feel for those two. So much. They have been through so much and I was so happy they found each other- but that’s not to say there weren’t a few anxious moments through the story. I could feel their sadness and the weight of their ‘burdens’. Sam was ready to end it all- but a misdialled number connects him with Ellie- and so the adventure begins. I love how Ms. Kells is a master of interconnected details- and how the details in this book help to build on the previous ones- building a bigger picture of the brothers and their on-going father ‘issues’. And even though this book could be read as a standalone, there is much to gain by reading the previous four books first- which really do help to build a ‘bigger picture’. Plus, the other books are superb stories in their own rights! OMG- I have already pre-ordered the next book, ‘King Bastard’- as it looks set to be amazing!!! Can. Not. Wait!!!

This is a sweet contemporary second chances sports romance- with past history, drama, obstacles, interfering ex, family tension, hurts, misunderstandings, and romance. I appreciate how every book I have read of Ms. Fernandes has its own unique theme and identity- this time she brings us a sports romance set in the world of English cricket. We follow Claude and Delilah as fate brings these two together again after years apart. But with a past history full of hurt, family issues, and other obstacles- will their love be strong enough to survive? Looking forward to Book #3- ‘Goalstruck’…

Snowflakes and Holly: A Small Town Christmas Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson is a sweet, contemporary, holiday romance. With a small town setting and we get to see how opposites attract and find love unexpectedly. This series has the most beautiful covers, each one gives off great romantic vibes. They really do give this series its own unique look and ‘feel’. Snowflakes and Holly is definitely my favourite of the series, so far. Even thought the characters, Holly and Blake, frustrated me at times, I did enjoy their story. I wonder what Ms. Dawson has in store for us next?

Check Out is the first book in The Bobbins Sisters series by Debra Parmley. It is an engrossing wounded warrior military romance. The story also touches on some sensitive issues, which the author handled in a compassionate, but honest way. Nash is a wounded veteran, a former Marine who suffers from PTSD with more scars on the inside than the outside. Past experience has made him a bit prickly and closed off- feeling like he isn’t relationship material. Betsy is the shy librarian type- who is a little intimidated by the fierce looking Veteran. But her life becomes immersed in drama- add some action and a stalker on the loose, and we get an intriguing read! Looking forward to seeing what happens in Book #2.

Mann in the Crossfire is the seventh book in the Jarvis Mann Detective series by R. Weir. I absolutely love this series and have followed it right from the beginning. I thought the last book was the best of the bunch, but Mr. Weir upped the ante with this story, making it my favourite, so far. The series really does get better and better with each new instalment. The ending of this book gave me a few heart palpitations though- please don’t let this be the last we hear from Jarvis Mann!!! Mr. Weir, Jarvis (and I) neeeeed more instalments (hint, hint 😊)!!! As with the rest of the series, this is a gripping hardboiled detective mystery- Jarvis being a PI means there’s never a dull moment. With murder, crime and investigation, danger, hidden agendas, gangs, drama, adventure, action, violence, quips, multi-layers, and complex characters- all wrapped up with a bit of a noir detective story feel. Bring on Book #8 (pretttty pleasssse)!

Bad Man on Campus is the third book in the Big Men on Campus series by Stephanie Queen. Even though I have read a lot of Ms. Queen’s books now, this is the first book in this series that I have read, so I am coming into this series a bit backwards by starting here with book #3. Having said that though, this could definitely be read as a standalone- but my interest is piqued now and I will definitely be going back to read the other two books to discover what happened there and to see if there are any interconnected details that might follow through to this book. As expected from Ms. Queen- this is a well woven story, with interesting, complex, and fully developed characters who pull you into their story right from the beginning. It is a second chance sports romance, with plenty of emotion, heart-wrenching details of tragedy + grief, baggage, struggles, drama, romance, steam, chemistry, hockey, and more. Glory and Kace have a past history of being high school sweethearts- until tragedy struck. Fate has intervened by giving them a second chance- but Ms. Queen isn’t going to make things too easy for them. Get set for an angsty and emotional read about overcoming tragedy and taking a chance on love, again.

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood. This appears to be Ms. Sherwood’s debut novel, as I discovered when I went looking for more of her work after finishing this story, and could only find this one. I will definitely keep my eye out for more of her books in the future, not just this series, but anything else she may do too. This is a sweet romance- with a small town setting, second chances, chemistry, friendships, banter, love, loss, emotion, humour, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. I loved Annabelle and Wyatt- they were not only interesting, but also very endearing. Their past history definitely added an extra element of interest to the story. I couldn’t help getting invested in their story, and found myself cheering them on from the sidelines. Their story really was quite touching in parts, making for quite a beautiful read! Looking forward to more from Ms. Sherwood!

Out of Time is the fourth book in the Westbeach series by Toni Denise. This is the first book that I have read by Toni Denise, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into the story. I also didn’t realise going in that this is the 4th book in a series- I was too fixated on the cover and blurb to realise that. Having read the story now, I can say that although it could be read as a standalone, there are definitely times I felt like I was missing something, references were made to things that happened previously, that I am not aware of or don’t have all the details to(?). So, I will definitely be going back to read the other three books to see if having that information on board will enhance my reading experience of this book. Having said that, this was definitely an intriguing romantic suspense that unravelled in a way that kept me thinking, trying to piece everything together before any ‘big reveal’. The author created palpable tension and suspense through her story- which was well done. But I really think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read the previous books. So, stay tuned, I will revisit this review once I have read the other books to see if they help piece everything together more.

Lyon Tamer by Jen Luerssen had me laughing out loud in parts. It is a romcom with plenty of humor, funny banter, and laugh-out-loud moments. The story is everything I have come to expect from Jen Luerssen, well woven, clever, witty, and entirely entertaining. Sheldon Lock is a vet with a reputation as a bit of a player. He has been unlucky in love but has plenty of ‘experience’ between the sheets. Then he meets focused and determined Simone Lyon, who hasn’t got time for a relationship- her energy is aimed at raising funds to rescue big cats from captivity with her Freedom Roar Rescue organisation. But when Sheldon shows up to do some veterinary work- things take an awkward, but interesting turn…. A fun read!

The Heart of Bakers Bay has just become my favourite read by Danielle Jacks. It is all about finding yourself, growth, and family- wrapped up in a sweet small town romance. Jody’s life is a bit of a mess. She coasts through life one bumble to the next. She can’t seem to hold a job, and if it weren’t for her sister, she would have nowhere to live. Jody has no expectations of herself, no real goals, and her family treat her like a lost hope. Then her grandmother has an accident and next minute Jody finds herself with the task of running her gran’s small town café. Easy peasy, right? Well, not so much. Adam is a local in town who doesn’t have time for outsiders. And definitely this outsider! Things are definitely about to get interesting… I loved the growth and development that Jody went through- she really ‘grew up’ over the course of the story. Adam is so sweet, and he surely wasn’t expecting Jody to come bumbling into his life. But they are both tied together in their desire to help someone in need. A sweet read!

Chatroom With A View by Glenn Maynard turned out to be not exactly what I was expecting. But in a creepy, thrilling, good way. I think I was expecting a bit of a serial killer/true crime expose. But instead, I got an intense thriller that kept me flipping the pages to find out what happens. This is not a light read- it is dark, raw, gritty, gripping, tense, suspenseful, and somewhat creepy. There are twists and turns, dysfunctional family dynamics, some horror, intrigue, danger, and much more. After a bit of a slow and unsteady start- the story quickly grabbed my attention and held my focus the whole way through. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed- but these minor issues didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Taking Flight is the second book in the Code of Honor series by Brooke May. Having read quite a few of Ms. May’s books over the past couple of years, I know I can rely on her to provide a captivating story that will pull me in, and tangle me in the lives of her characters as everything unfolds. Her characters are ‘real’ and relatable- I was completely invested in both the story and the characters. Jody and Holt had me rooting for them right from the beginning. They both so deserved to find their happiness. This is a superb contemporary military romance, with a little drama, chemistry, and plenty of emotion. Bring on Book #3! Happy Reading!

The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is a fantastic fantasy- an engrossing story that has a bit of a dystopian feel, with inter-racial tensions, politics, power plays, discrimination, assassination, drama, dark elements, tension, and lots more. This is such an original story that really leaps off the page- Julia Colbourn’s world building really brought everything to life. I liked that there was more to the story, and characters, than I first expected. It’s great when a story can take me places I wasn’t expecting. This isn’t a light and fluffy fantasy by any means- there is a deeper, darker current flowing through which gives the story a raw and gritty feel in places, which in turn added to the overall feel of the book. This may have been my first book by Julia Colbourn, but it definitely won’t be my last. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her stories in the future.

Manifested Dreams by Dr. Yvonne Johnson surprised me , in a great way. I think I was expecting something with a bit more of a documentary/journaling style to it- which may have been boring…. But instead I was immediately pulled into an intriguing story that held my attention right through till the end. It is a very short story- which made for a quick and easy read, but don’t be fooled, this story may be short on pages, but it packs quite a lot into a small space. It is well-woven, with detailed descriptions, filled with thought-provoking elements, plenty of emotion, and interesting characters. The story is complex, with several threads woven through it. Through the characters we see life through their eyes- moving from past to present, from the 1860’s to 1919, and then we work our way through to the 1990’s and then to 2008. The story examines racism, slavery, segregation, family, and the lives of African-Americans through history. We get an honest history lesson delivered in a very original, interesting, and thought-provoking way. Definitely worth reading!

My presence, as I lean against the brightly painted wall across the street, goes unnoticed. I listen for as long as I can until prior engagements pry this unknown audience away, retreating into the darkness.”
Lines By Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures by Leon Stevens is a great mix of poetry, short stories, pictures, and cartoons. Easy to read, this book definitely gave me much to think about. The author touches on many topics: -As I See It – (the) Environment -The Human Condition -People and Places -Ponderance and Muse -Odds and Ends, Knick-Knacks, and Bric-a-brac -Table Scraps -The Surprise Page -(&) Short Stories …. full of though, sketches, insights, reflections, observations, humour, sarcasm, relationships, and more- all of which made for an entertaining read-.

The Girl and the Raven is the first book in The Girl and the Raven series by Pauline Gruber. This is my first read from Ms. Gruber, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in. What I discovered is an original YA paranormal story- with witches, demons, ravens, magic, good vs evil, a bit of a love triangle, choices, discovery, and more. Ms. Gruber had me at witches and demons- add in the ravens and other paranormal elements and I was hooked. The story was a little slow at times, but that didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. Looking forward to reading Book #2!

The Halfling’s Court is the first book in the Bad *** Faerie Tale series by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. I love that it melds the fae with MC…. motorcycles, and an original take on ‘The Wild Hunt’- magic, fantasy, mayhem, drama, complex characters, and all the extra creative touches that I have come to expect from Ms. Ackley-McPhail’s stories. I love that Ms. Ackley McPhail has such a wonderfully creative imagination, as her stories are nothing if not unique and original and this one is no exception. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next.
