Remember His Name is the second book in the Remember My Name series by Laurencia Hoffman. After being so engrossed in the first book, there was no question whether I would be reading this book. Click- click-clickity-click. As with the first book this is quite a gripping and suspenseful M/M romance. It is dark and emotionally charged- keeping me glued to the pages as everything unfolded. This is definitely my favourite of the two books. Even though this could be read as a standalone if you wanted to, I do recommend reading the first book before starting this one, as there is a tie to the first book that is worth knowing. My heart broke for Wren and what he went through- he feels compelled to unravel the clues and get to the bottom of it all, but time is not on his side. The tension is palpable in parts. Definitely worth the read!

Captured by the Viscount by Wareeze Woodson is an historical romance full of mystery, drama, danger, plots, hidden agendas, and jealousy- with a coerced into marriage element. As with the other book of Ms. Woodson’s that I have read, this historical romance is written in the ‘old school style’- keeping true to the language, terminology, social norms, and style of the era. Having read her work before, I knew what to expect, so it didn’t take too long for me to settle into the flow of the story. Lady Isabel Carlyle had high hopes of returning the Viscounts stolen property and at the same time collect her own stolen jewels. Little did she suspect that she would be caught red-handed with the bonds in her possession still, making her look like a thief in the night. After all, the Viscount wasn’t even meant to be in residence. He was supposed to be away at his country estate. But fate had other ideas, and so Isabel finds herself on the wrong end of a gun with an angry Viscount to contend with. How was she going to get out of this mess? Viscount Matthew Rutherford caught the little thief in the act of stealing from him. He should turn her over to the authorities- but then he is in dire need of a bride to wed before the month has ended. There is a lot at stake. So, he gives Isabel a choice- marriage or jail. It’s not the best choice, but she really doesn’t want to end up in jail. Then there’s an added element of danger as someone seems to want Isabel dead. The fact that Matt has had two previous ‘fiancées’ die from strange ‘accidents’ right before the wedding, is now seen as sinister and the game of cat-and-mouse adds extra tension and suspense to the story. What happens next makes for an entertaining read. While I did enjoy the story- there were some issues for me that caused some frustration. Again, there were a few contradictions in the story, where the character feels/says something so strongly one moment and then the next moment they are saying/doing the complete opposite. It just made some moments seem more contrived, added for convenience or added drama. I also noted that there was repeated information as we ‘see’ things happening with one character, and then experience it again with the other MC as the POV changes. There were other inconsistencies such as descriptions changing as we go from one POV to the other- such as one character checking a table setting and giving us a description, and then the POV changes and we get a slightly different description from the other MC. Then there was character name changes during the story. Although these issues didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment of the story, they did give me pause and had me flipping back over sections that I had already read to clarify things- I do feel that these issues should probably have been picked up during editing, or through a beta-read. This hasn’t put me off reading more of Ms. Woodson’s work, and I am curious to see what I comes next.

Sex On Fire: A Quickie Read is the first instalment in the Naughty Neighbor series by Ashley Bostock. This is a sexy novella length story which can be easily read in one sitting. It is steamy with plenty of fun banter between the couple which gave a great perspective to the story. What happens when the sparks fly and two sexy neighbors get together? You will have to read all the entertaining details for yourself. I loved meeting these two characters- they were lots of fun. The story is really well woven, as I knew it would be coming from Ashley Bostock. This is a great start to what is shaping up to be a fun series. I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Bostock has in store for us next.

Grave Digger Academy is a really fantastic paranormal YA story and first book in the Grave Digger Academy series by C.A King. This is the second time that I have read it and have enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time around. Makayla is about to start off her academy education- unfortunately she missed out on placement in her preferred academies- which means her only choice is the one academy that no one really wants to attend, Grave Digger Academy. But there just might be more to Grave Digger Academy than Makayla expects- and so her supernatural adventure begins. A fun read!

A Cold day in Hell is the fifth book in the Life is Hell series by Naomi Valkyrie. This is a captivating fantasy with angels, shifters, demons, pixie, imp, other supernatural beings, humour, banter, family, drama, mystery, danger, f/f romance, chemistry, an enemies-to-lovers element, magic, tension, suspense, secrets, action, sacrifice, and lots more. This is Hadassah (Haddie) and Jezebel’s story- Haddie is an angel on suspended duty for miss using her powers and has been sent to Earth on probation. She isn’t happy about it- all she wants to do is serve her time and get back to heaven. But things take a bit of a complicated turn when Haddie feels obliged to help one of her brother’s friends. Jezebel is a bit of a recluse, a shifter who has been trying to hide from her past. She knows that eventually it will catch up with her and she will have no choice but to run again. She just didn’t expect it to be now, or to have to go on the run with a prickly angel by her side. Jezebel has been quite the mysterious character throughout the series, We knew she was a shifter, but little else. This book really allows us to get to know her, and my heart broke finding out everything she had been through. She and Haddie had a bit of rocky start- but the chemistry was there all along. They really were perfect for each other. After meeting Haddie previously, I wasn’t sure I would like her as she had been quite abrasive. But following along on the story and finding out more about her, I understand why she is prickly and discovered there is more to her than first meets the eye- and I ended up loving her. As expected, Ms. Valkyrie created superb tension and suspense throughout her story, balanced beautifully with some tender, emotive, and heartwarming moments. I love that even though each book concentrates on one particular ‘couple’- there is also a much bigger picture being painted and a secondary, subplot/bridging storyline woven through the series that amps up the danger and tension- and has me itching for more. Having said that I really recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one- as knowing what happens previously will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book. I know I keep saying this, but I really do adore this series so very much!!! It’s wonderfully original, with intriguing storylines featuring quirky and endearing characters who have firmly embedded themselves into my heart, and I can’t get enough. Happy Reading!

Least Likely Suspect: Revenge by Cooper McKenzie is quite a gripping story that made me think about how far I would go to get justice for my child. Well, our MC Samantha is put in exactly that position when her son is so badly beaten that he succumbs to his injuries. Samantha is certain she knows who is responsible for his death- but proving it is where the problem lies. Caim is the fourth book in the Antipodes series by T.S Simons. As with the rest of the books in the series, it is a fantastic post-apocalyptic, dystopian story with some sci-fi elements, action, adventure, romance, drama, discovery, friendships, bonds, loyalty, trauma, anxiety, trials, surprising developments, twists, tension, mystery, emotion, and much more. Quite a lot has happened since we started back in book one and our characters have been through quite a lot. The safety and happiness they found will be disrupted as shocking news means leaving to search for answers. Love and friendships are on the line- loyalties are tested, and shocking discoveries are made. The series gets better and better, with each new instalment, and for me, this is the most emotionally charged story of the series, so far. I still think this series would make great television viewing. I can really see it coming to life on the small screen. OMG- can’t wait to dive into ‘Sessrumnir’ (Book #5)!!!

Mr. Nice Guy is the first book in the Pierce Brothers series by Belinda Williams. I never pass up any of Belinda Williams’ stories- as she never fails to deliver a very entertaining read. This is a fun romcom with a bit of a friends-to-lovers element that gave the story an extra element of interest for me. Chelsea has been unlucky in love, always falling for the bad boys who aren’t cut out to be in a relationship. Tom happens to be her friend and housemate who has heard about every one of the ‘failures’. He has a suggestion that takes Chelsea by surprise, but also intrigues her. And so a fake relationship begins. Tom will show Chelsea what she’s been missing out on by not dating a ‘nice guy’. Get set for the fun to begin. Will the lines between friendship become blurred beyond recognition? What happens if feeling become involved? This story is worth the read to find out all the entertaining details. Another great read from Belinda Williams. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series! Happy Reading!

Lake of Flowers is the fifth book in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L Holmes. As with the other books in this series, this is a mystery set in ancient Egypt- a story full of historical details that give it a rich and vibrant feel with plenty intrigue, drama, hidden agendas, politics, secrets, danger, duty, family, interesting characters, and more. I have followed the series right from the beginning and have developed quite a soft spot for Hani, our MC in the series. He is a great character and I enjoy following him on his ‘adventures’. But this story isn’t about to let him ease up any- as there is a theft to investigate which leads to sinister agendas. Hani’s loyalty, duty, ideals, and diplomatic skills will be tested as he becomes caught in a battle between two warring forces. What transpires makes for a really great read. As expected- this story once again showcases the authors passion for history- and especially this time period- her in-depth knowledge and familiarity with the historical aspects of the era really does enrich the whole story/series. The Murders of Lillian Ross by Sirena Van Schaik is a riveting crime story that had me flipping the pages to find out what was going to happen. It is an unexpected little gem of a story- one I am still thinking about long after finishing the final page. This is really well woven- with intensity, complexity, layers, intrigue, a psychological aspect, and so much more. I am so glad I took a chance on this story, as it really did surprise me in the best possible way! I have also found another author to add to my ‘must read’ list. Having not read an of her work before taking a chance on this book, I am looking forward to stalking her, oops, I mean exploring her catalogue of work, as well as going on a one-click spree. Allison McKinnon is a well-known true crime writer who has been contacted by a prisoner, Lillian Ross, who was placed on death row for the shocking murders she committed. Normally Allison writes from the victims’ perspective- so this will be the first time she writes from the criminals’ perspective. Lillian has never told her story before, with much speculation and rumours surrounding her case, getting Lillian’s account could make for quite a sensational story. As the interviews unfold, a bigger picture begins to develop, and Allison realises that she shares a lot in common with Lillian. We get a front row seat to it all as the story unravels- and let me tell you, it makes for a fantastic read! Sirena Van Schaik doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker side of life- and some of the subject matter might trigger some readers (trauma, violence, abuse, murder). Highly recommended reading!

The Arsonist’s Handbook: A Gripping Psychological Thriller by L.A. Detwiler certainly grabbed my attention from the very first page. Thrillers are definitely one of my go-to reading genres, and with such an intriguing blurb when this showed up on one of my recommended book lists, I certainly couldn’t pass it by. Even though it is written in a slightly different style to what I am used to- the journal like writing really added to the overall atmosphere the story created. Throw in plenty of intensity, gripping details, unexpected twists and turns ensured that I was completely engrossed, not wanting to put it down until I had read every last word. This has been a great introduction to L.A. Detwiler’s work, I can’t believe I hadn’t read any of her work before now- I have been missing out and that is something I plan to rectify right away. I can’t wait to explore her other books. If you like a gripping read that makes you think, throws in unexpected twists and turns, and keeps you guessing- then this is definitely the book for you! Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster(Frat House Confessions #6) by Danielle Jacks. This series is a collaboration by 12 talented authors who, over the course of the year, have/will each release their story- one new release each month of the year #winning! Anyway, this is Danielle Jacks contribution, and as I have read most of her other books, I was curious to see what she had going on here. It is a contemporary college romance, with quirky endearing characters, and a fun storyline. It definitely surprised me, in a good way- I knew it would be well written, but the story was sweeter and had more depth than the title may have led me to believe. College football jock meets nerdy girl, and the sparks fly. Setter is out to have a good time, playing hard on and off the field- always up for a good prank. Casey is the serious student- locking herself away to study, trying hard to forget her past. When fate brings these two together, get ready for some fun and sizzle. I look forward to exploring the rest of the Frat House Confessions series, as well as more from Ms. Jacks!

Avenging Devil Part One is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series by Manda Mellett. As the title suggests, this story is set to continue in part two and ends on quite an intense cliffhanger- but no need to worry, the second part is set to release soon, so thankfully we don’t need to be on tenterhooks for long. But OMG, I am going to be counting down to get my hands on the second instalment and continue reading just so I can find out what happens. Manda Mellett certainly put her characters, and me, through the wringer with this story. I have read all of Ms. Mellett’s books now and can rely on her to bring something new each and every time. She always manages to toy with my emotions, weaving layers, tension, dramatic developments, and complexity into every storyline. And this story was a great example of that. As with the rest of the Satan’s Devils stories- this is an MC romance, with plenty to keep you flipping the pages and finding excuses to stay in the story just so you can keep reading. I won’t get into the story here, as I don’t want to spoil it for you- m=but if you are a MC romance lover, a fan of Manda Mellett- or just enjoy romantic suspense- then you definitely won’t want to miss this story. Motherland is the third book in the Tom Grant series by Samantha Adair. This is the first book that I have read by Samantha Adair- so I was curious about what lay in store for me- as I enjoy exploring new books and am always on the lookout for new authors to add to my reading lists. This has a bit of a thriller vibe happening- with dramatic developments, action, adventure, mystery, and more. I did enjoy the story, and it did read well- but I just can’t help feeling that maybe I was missing something that would have helped me connect with the characters and story more. These characters, Tom and Isabella obviously have had a bit of a complicated past history- and have ‘reunited’ again in this book for this ‘adventure’. I wish I knew all the details of the past books; I think if I had read the previous 3 books and had all the information they contained, that would have made this reading experience so much better. I will definitely be going back to read the previous books, before continuing on with the series. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the story, so don’t let me put you off reading it at all, but I do recommend reading the previous books first to get the most out of it. Shield & Shade is the first book in the Ascended Guardians series by Misty Hayes. This is my first read from Ms. Hayes, so I was excited to find out what lay between the covers. I love a good YA paranormal story, so the premise of the story had me sold right away. As I mentioned, this is a YA paranormal adventure story full of secrets, supernatural elements, dramatic moments, family, action, mystery, and suspense. I thought the story was quite creative and original- with richly textured world building. The story was quite ‘visual’ with lots of detail and vivid descriptions. Sometimes the descriptions got a little heavy handed- which did interrupt the flow of the story a bit, but overall, it was a fun read. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us in Book #2!

Of Fire and Bone is the third and final instalment in the Of Magic and Scales series by Natalina Reis. This is a fantastic paranormal MM romance with a plot that will keep you glued to the pages until you’ve read every last word. Natalina Reis never fails to deliver unforgettable stories, and this book/series is definitely a favourite. As this book follows on from the first two, I really recommend reading them before starting on this one. Knowing what happened in Books #1 and #2 will definitely enrich your reading experience of this book. I loved Aiden and Nael right from the beginning- they are such great characters- their chemistry is intense- and with Aiden’s past and the fact that Nael is a merman, Ms. Reis had me hooked right from the get-go! A lot has happened since the first book, but things aren’t about to get any easier as danger mounts- new discoveries are made, taking us on quite a wild ride. This was a bit of a bitter-sweet read for me as I really wanted to find out how everything plays out in the end, but also knowing that this is the final instalment of the series. Gods, goddesses, druids, hidden agendas, discovery, suspense, danger, dramatic developments, sexy details, and wonderful world building all blended together into a captivating story. Moonlit Kiss : A Venice Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley is definitely my favourite of the series, so far. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was so absorbed by it that I couldn’t put it down, reading it from beginning to end in one sitting. It is a fantastic romantic suspense, with mystery, sizzle, dramatic developments, intriguing characters, and enticing storyline. I loved the whole mysterious, otherworldly vibe that Ms. McKinley infused into her storyline- it definitely added an extra element of interest to the storyline. I love that Ms. McKinley always manages to up the ante with each new story- creating new and unexpected ways to keep me enthralled. Gianna Bellini can’t believe her luck when she hired to restore a large fresco painting in Venice. She has long dreamed of the city of bridges, and can’t wait for her adventure to begin. As soon as she lands, Gianna can’t help but feel a familiarity that she can’t quite explain. She feels like she’s been there before, but not in this lifetime. Things take an interesting and somewhat mysterious turn, bringing Sergio Vitale into her life. As things heat up, strange things begin to happen. Sinister forces seem to want to direct her fate. Things get a bit intense as everything unravels- past and present collide, making for a riveting read. You definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story… Happy Reading!

Tangled Roots: Witches of Willow Creek is the first book in the Tangled Magic series by Denise D. Young. This is a great paranormal romance with a small town setting, time travel, witches, magic, danger, adventure, drama, agendas, and much more. I have come into this series a bit backwards, having started on book #2 first, but each story could be read as a standalone, with out feeling lost or like you are ‘missing’ anything. Having said that, I am glad that I went back to read this first book- as it really does set the series off to a great start. Cassie Gearhart wakes up in 2019- what happened to the last 45 years? She is determined to find out what happened in the ‘missing’ time. Her coven is gone- and the only potential help she can find doesn’t want anything to do with witchcraft and magic. What will happen- especially with danger approaching? What ensues makes for a fantastic story about a witch lost in time. Can’t wait to continue the series.

Competing With the Star is the second book in the Star series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It follows on from the first book, Next Door to a Star- so I recommend reading that book before starting on this one. It will give you all the background information, character introductions, and other important information which will enhance your reading experience of this book. Something Ms. Hager does well is write from a teenage perspective- delving into all the issues, drama, and angst that plague our teenage years. But her story is also full of emotion, young love, heartache, jealousy, betrayal, assumptions, insecurities, rumours, and friendship- giving us a window into high school life. Hadley Daniels ‘perfect’ life is about to get a bit of a shake-up…. Life in Grand Haven seemed to be the answer to all her prayers- so what could possibly go wrong? Dive in to find out.

The Rise Of Manifesto The Great: A Sci Fi Comedy Where Women Wear The Trousers (Planet Hy Man #1) by Kerrie Noor makes for quite an original read. It is a Sci-fi romantic comedy- a battle of the sexes set on the planet Hy Man. It is quite spoofy and satirical- which did make for some humorous moments. But I found it all a little overdone- and because of that I had trouble connecting with the story and the characters. I spent a lot of the story frustrated with the whole spoofyness. Maybe that is because I have just come from reading a dark detective series, so I will give this book the benefit of doubt and go back to reread it in a month or two, to see if I still feel the same way. I would like to explore more of Ms. Noor’s work to get a better feel of her style and what else she has done, so stay tuned.

House In The Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall is a tightly woven and very engrossing mystery jam-packed full of suspense. As expected, Ms. Aiken-Hall completely captured my attention- keeping me glued to the pages, avidly reading along to find out what happens. The story is full of intrigue, secrets, tension, emotion, and surprising developments that made the story quite unpredictable. This is very cleverly crafted- and made for another riveting read- I can always count on Ms. Aiken-Hall to deliver an unputdownable read! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

The Divine Devils is the first book in The Divine Devils series by R. Weir. This is a fantastic crime thriller- with plenty of mystery, suspense, danger, hidden agendas, investigation, intrigue, tension, violence, and action. I love Mr. Weir’s Jarvis Mann Detective series, so when I saw that he had written a new book, and it’s the start of a brilliant new series, I couldn’t one-click fast enough. I also love that Hunter is quite different to Jarvis (from Mr. Weir’s Jarvis Mann Detective series)- bringing his own complexities, quirks and flaws to this new series. I was completely invested in the story, and the characters, right from the beginning- following along trying to figure everything out as the story unravelled. Hunter Divine is a former US Marshall who comes with a lot of baggage. He moves from job to job, pay check to pay check, trying to forget the past- but not able to truly move on; self-medicating with sex and alcohol as a means to try to get by. He is definitely a little broken- but remains great at his job. So, when a former lover contacts him with an urgent request, he can’t say no. Her children have been targeted by kidnappers who have struck twice now- the children barely escaping the latest attempt. Hunter will need to dig deep and use all his skill and training in order to keep the children safe and figure out who is behind the kidnapping plots, and why the children were targeted in the first place. So, buckle up, and get set for a thrilling ride. I know I keep saying this, but Mr. Weir has out done himself yet again! This is such a superb story that held me in its grip from beginning to end. It is a complex and multi-layered storyline, resulting in quite a gripping tale. I think it’s definitely one of the top three reads of his, so far! Bring on Book#2! Brilliant!

Mornin the Super Bird: Mornin Finds a Way to Stop Extinction is a children’s environmental awareness story by Jules Hartley; illustrations by Diego A. Diaz. It is a cute story written in a simple, easy to understand way- with a lyrical and poetic style to the writing. The ‘sing-song’ style would definitely appeal to children and the author aims to bring awareness to environmental issues, animal protection, animal extinction, global warming, recycling, and pollution. These issues were explored with Mornin the Super Bird, who goes above and beyond to spread the message and save his friends. Environmental education wrapped up in a cute story.

The Don is the first book in Her Three Immortals series by Hazel Storm. This was such a fun story to read. When I read the blurb I just knew I had to read it. I am happy to say that it was everything I expected, and more. This is a sexy paranormal reverse-harem romance, with a very captivating storyline. Grey is the Don of the Underworld, on a mission to collect as many souls as he can. That means spending a month in the mortal realm. But things are about to get interesting. Vanessa’s younger brother is gravely ill and she will do everything she can to find a cure. Has the solution to her problem just moved in across the street? But things are not quite what they seem. Get set for some fun and drama. Told from several POV’s, with a bit of a cliffhanger, fantastic world building, and interesting characters- this story is well worth the read. Can’t wait to dive into Book #2!

Carnival of Shadows is the second book in the Black Water Magic series by Leslie Scott. I love a great paranormal romance, so when I saw this it captured my attention immediately. I didn’t notice that it was the second book in the series, but the story was easy to follow and I didn’t feel like I was ‘lost’ or confused with the storyline. But having said that, my curiosity about past means I will definitely be going back to read book #1 before continuing the series. No spoilers from me- the blurb does a great snapshot of what to expect so all I will say is- with interesting and quirky characters, a enticing storyline, a bizarre carnival, mystery, witches, shifters, demons, and more- there is plenty here to entice any paranormal romance lover.

Red Coat by Isobella Dunn is quite an engrossing romantic suspense. The story is emotive, with intrigue, a little mystery, drama, and more. Sara has worked really hard to leave her past behind her. She works as a social worker who works within the foster care system as a way of ensuring other children don’t have to endure what she did. But when Rachel is brought into the agency for running away again, things take a dramatic turn. Sara can’t help but see herself in Rachel and wants to help her, but things get complicated and Sara finds herself face to face with the past she left behind, with danger closing in. Well worth the read!

OMG! This was everything I had hoped for, and more! All the stars!!!! Forbidden Wolf is the first book in The Shadow Chronicles by C.R Robertson. I love C.R Robertson’s work- so I really couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. When it landed on my Kindle, I put aside the other book I had been reading and jumped right in. To say I loved it is an understatement. If I could give t more than 5 stars I would! I was torn between devouring every word and savouring every word by pacing myself and drawing out the experience. But the story, and characters, were just so good they pulled me into their world, keeping me glued to the pages- and all I could do was hold on tight for an unforgettable ride. As with her other work that I have read, this has a captivating storyline and fantastic characters. This is another masterfully crafted paranormal romance, with a complex, multi-layered, and addictive storyline. The story is action-packed, with drama, danger, hidden agendas, secrets, paranormal beings, war, violence, adventure, sizzling encounters, fated mates, and high stakes. I loved Ms. Robertson’s original take on Vampire and Lycan lore, she held me spellbound, devouring her story in one sitting. Fate played a hand in bringing Levi and Tasha together, Levi being a werewolf and Tasha being a vampire, they are sworn enemies- as vampires and Lycans have been at war for what seems like forever. They shouldn’t be drawn to each other. But fate, and their combustible chemistry have other ideas. The war threatens to rip them apart, and dangers stalks, threatening to destroy everything. Maybe the only way to survive is to work together. But Ms. Robertson doesn’t make things easy, they will be tested on every level- and what ensues makes for a completely riveting read! #mustread I really can’t wait to get my hands on the second book, I need it STAT! Jeremy Full of Grace is the latest release from the talented Greta Cribbs. I have read most of Ms. Cribbs books now, so when this popped up on my recommended book feed I didn’t hesitate to snap up a copy and dive in. This book is a little difficult to label, being quite an intriguing mix of elements. There is definitely a sci-fi aspect to the story, as well as a bit of a dystopian feel- with mystery, miracles, drama, thought provoking developments, religion, hope, and faith. The world population has been devastated by a plague which has also left the survivors sterile. The very fate of humanity is at stake. We meet Jeremy, a 17 year old boy….. who just happens to be PREGNANT! You read that right- a pregnant BOY. I must admit I wasn’t sure how this thread of the story would play out, or how believable it would be- but Ms. Cribbs made it entirely plausible- delivering a engrossing story that gave me plenty to think about. A well-woven, original, and intriguing story- with a good dose of miracles, faith, belief… and new beginnings- it all made for a great read.

I’ve analyzed the forehead, the chin, the cheeks, the nose, the lips, every inch of the human face all my life, and nothing conveys kindness like the eyes—especially the corners of the eyes. A face holds so much power, so much pain, so little regard, so little in vain. It does do what you want it to do, and I realized that it can do so much for good. It can have a kind smile, even if the lips are misshapen and scarred. It can have a kind profile, even if the nose is wide and flat. It can speak a kind word, even if teeth are missing. This is what I learned when I faced reality.”
Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue is the emotive debut novel by Mary E. Gregory. It is an inspiring memoir that chronicles her young life of upheaval, tension, trauma, adventure, family relationships, dysfunctional family dynamics, secrets, humorous anecdotes, and overcoming adversity. The author shares her memories, which read almost like journal entries. She has a lyrical and poetic style to her writing – if not a little wordy and drawn out in places. Mary has been thorough a lot in her life- overcoming situations that would defeat many others. Her story is interesting and moving- many events made my heart ache for what she went through. I applaud the author for sharing her inspiring story- it is apparent that she poured a lot of heart and soul into her work. I really do think this would make a great movie.

Terrifying Love: A Halloween Anthology is a collection of 7 stories and additional poems by 8 talented authors. With plenty to choose from- there’s romance, suspense, the supernatural, paranormal, fantasy, Halloween themes, some horror, emotion, and lots more. If you love stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, with enough thrills and chills to keep you hooked, then this is an anthology you will want to add to your reading list. I read quite a lot of anthologies as I love the diversity that can be found within these collections. And this certainly fits the bill, as it has a great mix of storylines, all with their own originality, and assortment of interesting characters. I thought I would just read one story a night, before bed, until I had finished the book- but I got so caught up with it that I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting #sleepisoverrated.
