The Time Traveler’s Magic by Anna Applegate is the first book in the Magic Bound Saga. Ember Brighton has been pushed into another time and must figure out what to do and why this has happened. This is a great time traveling fantasy with supernatural/paranormal elements. This is a fun read that kept me wanting more. I enjoyed the characters and the story. I also enjoyed there were plenty of mysteries that Ember was trying to unravel. I look forward to the next book in this series and reading more from Anna Applegate in the future.

The Time Traveler’s Magic by Anna Applegate was truly a captivating read. I would give this book a four out of five stars. I loved how the book started, it really did a great job of building the world and Ember’s character. A lot of mysteries start to pile on and as the reader you find yourself asking the same questions that Ember does. I really struggled to put this book down because of my curiosity surrounding Ember, Rane, and the whole situation we find ourselves in. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I give The Time Traveler’s Magic (Book 1 of the Magic Bound Saga) by Anna Applegate, 5 stars.
Ember is struggling with life. Her job as a waitress does not pay much, but she needs to do what she can ever since her mom has been in the hospital. Then she gets a call she dreads, her mom is now in a coma. Her life feels like it’s falling apart. Oh and the best part? She hears voices, mainly coming from the stock room of her work on a ship that has been converted into a restaurant. Not to mention that it feels like some one is always watching her.
After an incident at work, she ends up thrust into the care of a sexy man dressed as a pirate on a ship in the middle of the ocean. What is going on? Is she imagining it? To find out what is happening and maybe fix her mother, she will have to accept what is her new reality and trust people she has just met. Can she do it?
Ok, first off, I will admit something — I never really understood the popularity of the time travel genre. I wasn’t interested in it before, but this book caught my attention and I thought I would give it a try. Oh my god!!! I was blown away!!! The author wastes no time throwing us into it. Many books take a while for the character buildup, not getting into the action until a quarter to halfway through. Nope, not this author. It doesn’t take long at all before you are on the ride of adventure and action. But this doesn’t mean the characters are lacking either. You really understand where Ember is coming from and I feel for her so much. I felt like I was in her shoes, which is the best compliment I can give. The story is different from those I’ve read before. I especially liked how we have not only time travel, but supernatural creatures too. That adds another layer of depth to this wonderful book. I could not put the book down and cannot wait to read the next book!
If you are a fan of time travel and/or paranormal books, I highly recommend this book.

The Time Travellers Magic by Anna Applegate is the first book in the Magic Bound Saga. This is an exciting story that has everything you could want. Anna Applegate is an author that I have become pretty familiar with over the past year and I have come to expect that her books are enjoyable. This one is no exception and probably has to be my favourite to date. I loved these two characters. Rane is definitely fantasy worthy!! The overall story was was paced an exciting. I found myself flying through this book simply because I couldn’t stop reading. If this is only book one then I really can’t wait to see what else is to come.

The Time Traveler’s Magic is the first book in the Magic Bound Saga.
This story is full of action that keeps you hooked. The characters are intriguing. I mean, a vampire pirate, what’s not to love!!! Writing time travel can be iffy, but this book pulls it off pretty well. Ember has a bit of personal growth to do, but then again, don’t we all. I think maybe the character flaws she has are what make her more relatable. Overall, I found the plot interesting. It made for an entertaining read. There are some things that in the book that brought up questions, but they will probably be answered in subsequent books.

Applegate is a genius!! This book hooked me from beginning to end and never stopped. Never even looked back to make sure I was keeping up. Adventure, fantasy, romance – this has it all. Brilliantly written and what a fantastic set up for a series. Loved every page and cannot wait to read more!

The Time Traveler’s Magic is Book One is the Magic Bound series by Anna Applegate. I really enjoyed Ms. Applegate’s Ariya Adams series, so there was no question of if I was going to read this book. I just snapped up a copy, and dove in to see what the story was all about. This really is a wonderful paranormal romance- with time travel, action, adventure, vampires, shifters, pirates, magic, drama, mystery, and more. There are so many fantastic, original, and surprising details in this story- I was hooked right from the first chapter. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series to find out what happens- especially after the way this book ended. The characters are well developed- with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. Ember really frustrated me, and I wanted to shake her a lot of the time. I loved Rane- he’s definitely my favourite in this book. I can’t wait to find out where this series will lead in the future instalments, and watch these characters grow and develop as the stories unfold. A great start to a new series!

This is one wild ride! It is full of action that doesn’t seem to stop. I was worried about this book because i do not read time travel stories. I gave this one a go because I have read other works by this author that have been grand. I was pleasantly surprised over that element in this book. There is also an undercurrent of attraction that helps to keep me turning pages. Will they or won’t they? *Turns page* OMG they are so close *Turns Page* That Look…That touch *Turns page* …ARRG!
That sweet romantic attraction isn’t the main story. It’s about finding out about your powers and learning to use them. Saving people and also being glad you are not paranoid hearing all those voices in your head. As well as learning there are Paranormals in this world…Oh and easily hating the MacGregor! This is chock full of many many things.
I love love love this book and read it late into the night. To say it consumed me is an understatement. Just ask my neglected family and my groggy AM brain :). This author is wickedly good at writing this suspenseful tale. The story flows so perfectly and I wasn’t bothered by the time jumps at all. The ending does have a kind of pause button and she is using that as a lead in to the next book. I am not pleased with this as this author writes well enough she doesn’t need to use those ploys to get people to read the next book. The characters were wonderful to get to know. I mean who wouldn’t want a privateer or a vampire to hang out with? Next please!

The Time Traveler’s Magic is book one in the Magic Bound series by Anna Applegate, and this paranormal romance is an AMAZING READ! Ember always feels like someone is watching her and watching her life crumble. Her parents were involved in a horrible accident and she lost her father. Learning that her mother has slipped away further, she rushes to her side. There she is confronted by someone wanting to hurt her but is luckily saved, and it then happens at work but is able to lock herself in a closet. Then comes Rane to rescue, right away Ember questions his motives, but fearing her life, she knows she needs his help. The main question is, will Ember face her destiny and will those wanting to hut her, succeed. You must read to answer that! This book was awesome to read and I was able to read it in one sitting. This book had it all from romance, time traveling, vampires, and villains! It’s a prefect mix in this five star read!

A great read about time. Ember is struggling to cope with her mother in hospital and the bills piling up. Things get strange when she is attacked by a man in a garage and he and his friends start following her to work. But events unravel and things get even stranger as she finds herself amongst pirates and ships. Can she make it back home to save her mother in time? A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Ember standing up for herself but vulnerable underneath or Rane strong and stubborn but caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the innocent Destin or the gruff but kind Rick. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the dream with the fog and the monster and the magic and the purple gem mysterious and colorful wonderfully written. Or the hospital full of life and people but contrasted eibt the white walls wonderfully written. I loved how the book started off in the mystery, grabbing the reader attention from the start. I loved the sense of unease with the shadows and the feelings so strong its as id you’re actually there. also liked the time travel element of the book as a good idea but the jump to the past felt jarring to the reader and felt confusing as to what time period it was set in with no dates or signifying aspects making the characters and time travel hard to visualise and hard to relate to. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

This is another of those books that the blurb sounds amazing, the cover is gorgeous, the premise of the book is one that I’ve read and enjoyed before, but there was something about it that just didn’t enthrall me like I anticipated.
It wasn’t one major thing, it was a bunch if little things that all blended together.
Having said all that…
The writing is visually appealing while being conservative in details. The characters and storyline held my interest enough that I will be reading the next book in the series. The flow of the story was linear and there was a sexy pirate.

The Time Traveler’s Magic (Magic Bound Saga Book 1) by Anna Applegate
5-Stars
The Time Traveler’s Magic (Magic Bound Saga Book 1) by Anna Applegate take readers on an excellent adventure through time. It features romance, magick, shifters, vampires, and of course time travelers. Ember is unique and after her mother enters a coma finds out there is more going on than she realized. This is especially so when she finds herself in the past with Rane. This story was easy to follow and difficult for me to put down. I loved every bit of it! The characters were excellent and developed well. It was also easy for me to visualize the different time periods Ember visited. I can’t wait for book two in this series to come out. I highly recommend this novel!

The Time Traveller’s Magic (Book 1 of the Magic Bound Saga) by Anna Applegate is a fantasy story that I really enjoyed reading. There is magic and shifters and vampires and pirates and plenty of action to keep you interested and engaged. It is a different and original concept and was really well written. Anna has woven several genres to make it a magical and exciting read.
Ember is a time traveller but has no recollection of it and fears she maybe going insane. As her mother becomes ill she must learn what she is to be able to save her and stop the evil that is threatening the events of time. Ember is a strong woman but at times she drove me absolutely insane because she would not do as she was told. Having said that though I loved the way it played havoc with Rane.
Rane is a pirate and has a nemesis that is making his and everyone else’s lives tougher but not just in his time, he is causing havoc across the centuries as well. Rane is my favourite character, I fell in love with him. When a mysterious woman once again pops up on his ship he tries to make her see reason and do as she is told but he swears that she will be the death of him. I enjoyed their interaction and loved reading Ranes’ thoughts as the story is told in different POV’s. The interactions between Rane and Ember are full of lust and tension, sizzling heat and an unknown draw which neither understand.
I really enjoyed this first book to the series and am anxiously awaiting reading the rest of the series. BUT WTF! Renee come on a cliff hanger! I swear I cursed up a storm just like the pirates in the story.

I enjoyed this book. I highly recommend reading the prequel first to help understand where this one is starting from as this picks up where the previous left off. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning. Ember is a great character. She has a long road ahead of her with learning her powers but she is strong. I enjoy watching her grow throughout this series. Her story has a little bit of everything from time travel to vampires to sexy pirates. I highly recommend this book.

The Time Traveler’s Magic (Magic Bound Saga Book 1) By: Anna Applegate 5 out of 5 stars
The story The Time Traveler’s Magic (Magic Bound Saga Book 1) by Anna Applegate is a paranormal romance/fantasy book. It is a story that I loved reading and found myself getting lost in the pages. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Ember Brighton and Rane Andersson. Ember is a young woman who is intelligent, strong, and stubborn. She finds herself with a crumbling life and then with those she loves in danger. It is then that she meets Rane. Rane is a man that feels an attraction and pull towards Ember. She haunts his very thoughts. She finds that she must trust him. Will she be able to save the ones she loves and fix the balance of time itself? Will Rane be able to help her? What does the future hold for Rane and Ember? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has Ember with more questions than answers. Will she find the answers that she seeks? This is a book that includes action, danger, magic, vampires, and shifters. If you love the paranormal like I do you will find yourself unable to pull yourself away from the story until the very end. I grew to care about Ember with every chapter that I read, and I wanted her to succeed and be happy. I also enjoyed reading about the secondary characters that are introduced in the story and who interact with Rane and Ember. This is a book I would highly recommend reading.

Someone is watching her from the shadows. And stopping him could change history.
A stranger thrusts Ember Brighton into another time, where she learns her crumbling life has a greater purpose. Pursuing this new life, however, will leave her loved ones in danger until she realizes who she is and what she’s capable of. If she fails to work quickly enough, her mother’s deadly fate will be sealed.
When the confident and mysterious Rane Andersson shows up at all the right moments to help, Ember can’t help but distrust his motives. Without him, though, she’s left with more questions than answers, and more people trying to kill her than she can fight off alone.
Despite her reservations, she’s forced to put her faith in him. Now Ember’s running out of time to find her way home, save her mother, and fix the balance of time itself.
Will her run-ins with rogue vampires and evil shifters prove to be more than she can overcome? Or can Ember face her destiny head on?
Fans of the Outlander and A Shade of Vampire series will be hooked on the newest time traveling, paranormal romance saga!

Sacrificed (Ariya Adams Trilogy) by Anna Applegate is part of one of the best paranormal series I have read this year. This is the last book in the trilogy and boy it packs a punch. I love this series and the vampires that are the main characters. The suspense and mayhem, action and twists make it hard to put down. Just who are the bad boys and who can be trusted? This engaging story holds your attention and the world Anna has created is easy to imagine. Love and friendships are those that you can relate to and you become invested in the characters. Ariya finds what she needs to hopefully rid the world of evil but in doing so she finds out the truth of just where it will leave her. Realising keeping her fate to herself is the only way to keep those she loves safe.
Don’t look any further this is the paranormal story for you.
This is the third and final book to the Ariya Adams Trilogy. This has been my favorite paranormal romance of this year. You will have to read the first two books in order to read this one. I was hooked to this book right from the first page. This book starts right where last one stopped. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters one last time. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing ending to an awesome series.
Ariya Adams is on a mission with her friends to destroy the greatest evil that has ever been created, Audrey. They all travel to a place where it all began to see if they can get some answers. Ariya knows that she need to find the weapon that will destroy Audrey once and for all but where can it be? Ariya is also having problems with her heart. She is still in love with James but she doesn’t want to put him into danger so they are just friends. Ariya finally finds what they have been looking for but she has to hold on to a secret until the right time. She also doesn’t know who she can really trust. Ariya is the key to end this war once and for all no matter the cost. She will do anything to make sure that she protects the ones she loves Will Ariya destroy Audrey or will Audrey destroy everything she holds dear to her heart first?
I absolutely loved this book. I am so sad that it is the end. The storyline has it all romance, mystery, suspense, and love. You will fall in love with these characters all over again. Ariya is stronger than she has been before. She knows that she needs to end this war once and for all. Ariya is deeply in love with James still but she wants to keep him safe. James is still protecting Ariya with his life. He loves her like no other but he needs to do his job. You will also love the secondary characters as well. They bring the story to life especially Riley. He is funny but he can also be serious when he needs to be. This amazing author will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The ending left me in complete shock and I can’t wait to see what this author will do next.
Sacrificed by Anna Applegate is the third and final book in the Ariya Adams trilogy. I highly recommend reading the books in order because the story continues from book to book. The story is supernatural, action, and romance rolled into one. There are werewolves, vampires, and all sorts of other supernatural creatures. The main characters are back in this novel. Ariya, James, Caroline, Riley, and Nick are all trying to learn to trust to continue and succeed in their journey. The group has made some poor decisions in trusting the wrong people in the past. Audrey is back and more of a problem than ever. Can the group finally rid themselves of herself once and for all? Ariya also has her own challenges to face without drawing James into the challenge. The book is well written and the characters have continued to develop through the series. I had a hard time putting it down because the story had drawn me in. I enjoyed this book and the entire series. I will continue to look for more from Anna Applegate in the future.
Sacrificed is the third and final book in the Ariya Adams Trilogy by Anna Applegate- and what a fantastic way to conclude the trilogy. I blasted my way through the story in a matter of a few hours, it was just that good. This really is such a wonderful paranormal romance- with action, adventure, drama, suspense, mystery, danger, threats, secrets, twists, angst, a little push-pull, vampires, witches and werewolves. As this is the third book and has a continuing/bridging storyline, I strongly suggest reading the first two books before beginning this one. There is a lot of backstory, character information and other relevant details contained in those first two books which you would need to know to fully appreciate and enjoy this book. This story picks up pretty much where the last book ended. Ariya, James, Caroline and Nick are still coming to terms with the events from the last book and are trying to figure out the best way to deal with Audrey- once and for all. They also have the problem of not really knowing who they can trust, apart from themselves. Their search takes them on a journey that delivers some of the answers they’re looking for, but also brings an unexpected development which Ariya will need to keep close to her chest until the right time. Ariya is willing to do whatever it takes to protect/save the ones she loves. But with danger at an all time high, and a clear and present threat edging ever closer- will she get her chance to set everything right again? To fulfill her purpose and save her loved ones? There are so many fantastic details and surprising development to this story, that you would be missing out on by not reading the story/series. I have really enjoyed this series, each instalment just seemed to get better and better. This really was the perfect conclusion to the story. I wonder what Ms. Applegate has in store for us next? I can’t wait to find out!

Sacrificed (Ariya Adams Trilogy #3) by Anna Applegate 5 out of 5 stars Sacrificed is the final installment of the Ariya Adams Trilogy Join Ariya, James, Nick, Caroline and Riley as they conclude their journey together through the toughest trials they’ve yet to face. The characters are well written and the way they play off each other you would think they are real. The plot was great and the writing was easy to follow. Ariya Adams has a powerful ability that has protected those she loves from every danger they’ve faced. With Audrey, a powerful and malicious being on the loose and determined to overrun the supernatural world, Ariya and her friends are on a mission of vital importance they must find a weapon that can destroy the most dangerous evil the Protectors have ever encountered. The problem is, they have no idea who they can trust. But, that’s not the only complication though. Ariya has a life-changing secret and must carry out her own mission without her Protectors finding out especially James, who is already watching her every move. With Audrey closing in, there’s no time to question the magnitude of the sacrifice she’ll have to make to save her friends. Will she save them in time? Can they finally accomplish what must be done and stop Audrey? Or will she succeed in destroying everything Ariya holds dear once and for all? Even though Ms. Applegate said this was the final installment I thought the story ended in a cliffhanger. This was a great Trilogy and I highly recommend it.
Awakened (Ariya Adams Trilogy #2) by Anna Applegate 4 out 0f 5 stars Awakened the Ariya Adams Trilogy is book two written by Ms. Applegate and the second book that I have read by this author. I really enjoyed reading more about Ariya and James and the gang. The characters are well written, and I still enjoyed the storyline, but I thought the story just dragged on…. I mean don’t get me wrong there were some great scenes that made me feel a-part of the story.
Ariya Adams only recently discovered the supernatural world is real, and that world wants something from her. Her blood. Her unique ability to heal both werewolves and vampires with only a few drops gives Ariya a great power. However, that power has put her in unfathomable danger.
James, her sexy vampire boyfriend and Protector, has done well keeping Ariya safe in the past. When a new, more powerful and manipulative evil comes into play, it may prove to be more than they can handle, especially when their forbidden affair makes Ariya more vulnerable to the deceptive new enemy seeking to control her. Her grasp on reality will be tested and twisted as she battles to save James, her friends, and herself.
Despite her determination, she will be faced with a pain greater than she ever imagined. Even the most powerful abilities have limitations, and this time, the power of her blood might not be enough to save those she loves most. Will her Protector/Boyfriend keep her safe? Can Aryia win the battle when her reality is being tested? If all else is lost, will Ariya survive? I enjoyed this story and cant wait to read the conclusion to this trilogy…
Protected is the first book in the Ariya Adams trilogy, wrote by Anna Applegate. First off I just want to say how cool the author and the main character’s names are; I absolutely love alliteration in names. Anyway, back to the book. Protected follows the story of Ariya’s senior year in college, where not everything is quite what it seems. Turns out the hot new guys are vampires, and werewolves, and Ariya is stuck right in the middle of it. I had an issue with the pacing of this novel, and general clichés that are really common in YA urban fantasies. But it was the pacing that really threw me off when reading. During action/fight scenes that sentences were very fragmented and disjointed, rather than keeping the flow of the book and increasing the tension and action. All the twists and turns were very obvious from the beginning. And some of the choices that Ariya made, had me literally screaming at my kindle asking Ariya what she was thinking. Why didn’t she just write or text important information, if she was worried of being overheard?! So many problems could have been solved this way, but I understand that if she had done this, then I wouldn’t have had such a fun time watching all her misfortunes play out. Kind of like when you watch a horror movie and you’re yelling at the characters not to go downstairs, but they do it anyway. This book was a lot of fun to read, as it reminded me so much of The Vampire Diaries and all of its vampire shenanigans. I look forward to reading the next two books in the series over the following weeks. I give this book 4/5 stars.
Awakened (Ariya Adams Trilogy) by Anna Applegate is the second book to this great series. This story continues on from the first book where vampires and wolves are fighting for our protagonist. One side wants to protect her and the other want to use and abuse her. But when evil take her, protecting her turns out to be more than they thought possible. The action and mystery, fear and heartbreak, suspense and horror continue as the sides fight it out. The story is fast paced and will have your heart in your throat as you navigate this exciting and wonderful read. This story has romance and friendship but still provides everything paranormal. I love the main characters and have became invested in them. Awakened is just as good if not better than the first book which leaves me excited for the last book in the trilogy. I love all things paranormal so sign me up for the next one.
Awakened is the second book in the Ariya Adams Trilogy by Anna Applegate. It is a fantastic paranormal romance- with vampires, werewolves, witches, supernatural elements, danger, kidnapping, mind games, manipulation, sinister plots, mystery, suspense, drama, secrets/twists, action… and so much more. This book is the second in the series and I highly suggest reading them in the correct sequence to get the most out of the story. I don’t recommend reading this as a standalone, as it is a continuing story that bridges from book to book. As we discovered in book one, Ariya Adams in her senior year at college. She has a great, close-knit group of friends, and is looking forward to her final year. Strange things began to happen, and she started to think that she was going crazy. What she discovers instead is a supernatural world of vampires, werewolves and witches- where she is a direct descendant of a royal bloodline, with a special ‘gift’ that has placed a target on her back. She also discovers her protectors are a lot closer than she could have ever imagined. With her world turned upside down and her feeling for James growing stronger by the minute- will he be able to keep her safe and thwart the sinister plot that has her firmly in its sights? This fast-paced, action packed story should really be read to fully appreciate what a great book/series this is. I did enjoy the first book in the series, ‘Protected’ (4 Stars), but I did have issues with the level of angst and melodrama in it. I am so happy to discover that in this book those issues have been resolved, and I really got to just immerse myself in the story and follow along as it all unfolded. This is such a great read, my favourite so far. It takes the great premise and foundations laid out in book one and takes it to another level. I couldn’t put the book down, I had to know what would happened next, and ended up devouring it all in a few hours. I got to the end and couldn’t wait to continue the story, so I dove right into book #3. This definitely isn’t your typical vampire story and I am so happy to say that it has its own identity, flavour and tone, from a lot of other books in the same genre. In the last book the content seemed more suited to Young Adults- as there was a LOT of ‘teenage Angst’ and it was very light on the romance side. But this book definitely spiced things up a lot more. Ariya and James have an incredible connection and sizzling chemistry. Thankfully the angsty push-pull that really drove me crazy in the last book is not really an issue in this book. The story was exciting, suspenseful, surprising, romantic, and entirely captivating. There are emotional moments, jaw-dropping OMG moments, touching scenes, and heart in my moth moments that had me on the edge of my seat. I loved every minute and I can’t wait to find out what happens in book #3.

Protected (Ariya Adams Trilogy) by Anna Applegate is the first book to this exciting paranormal series. I absolutely enjoyed this story where the paranormal exists, vampires and wolves provide lots of action and mystery, fear and heartbreak, suspense and horror. The story is unique and a very exciting read and is not like all the other vampire stories out there. This is a YA story but still provides everything that a paranormal person would love regardless of age. Anna did a great job in writing great characters that you quickly became attached to and she has done a wonderful job in creating this world that you can easily immerse yourself into. Protected is very much a bite your fingernails and is a definite page turner, leaving you wanting more and looking for the next book so you can continue the journey. I highly recommend this book to all of you who love all things paranormal.
Protected (Ariya Adams Trilogy #1) by Anna Applegate 5 out of 5 stars Protected is an Ariya Adams Trilogy written by Anna Applegate is the first book I have read by this author. I love reading about vampires and werewolves all paranormal books actually. So when I read the blurb I grabbed it and I wasn’t disappointed the characters where well written with their quirky ways and easy banter. The plot was really different in a good way with few surprises thrown in. The way Ms. Applegate described the scenery was amazing. Ariya Adams thinks she’s a normal college Senior she has no idea she’s descended from blood so powerful and rare that her life is infinitely more precious than any ordinary woman’s especially to James Rymer. James knows she’s anything but a regular college student and enters her life and stirs up feelings she can’t explain. He becomes a part of her world almost overnight, but Ariya senses he’s hiding something, and she’s determined to figure out what it is. When “normal” becomes a thing of the past and fantasy enters Ariya’s reality, she’s soon faced with dangerous revelations, the least of which is that everyone she loves has been keeping secrets from her. With a paranormal evil she’s only beginning to comprehend threatening her and her friends, Ariya will have to choose between duty and love. Through it all, she’ll learn to never underestimate the power of blood. I highly recommend this story and can’t wait to read what happens in Awakened. I do have to warn you this story ends in a cliffhanger.
Protected is the first book in the Ariya Adams Trilogy by Anna Applegate. It is a paranormal college romance story- with mystery, suspense, drama, angst, push-pull, secrets, supernatural elements, action… and more. This is definitely not your typical vampire story. Add in some werewolves, hidden agendas, betrayal, twists, surprising revelations, and this story takes off. We meet Ariya Adams in her senior year at college. She has a great, close-knit group of friends, and is looking forward to her final year, wanting to get as much out of it before it all ends. But strange things begin to happen, and she starts to think that maybe she is going crazy. When danger come calling, and secrets are revealed, Ariya’s world is turned upside down. With her life on the line, and her friends threatened, what will happen? What discoveries will she make? Who can she trust? And can she find a way to thwart the sinister plot, and the danger that seems to be stalking her? I did enjoy this book- even more so as the story unfolded. I did find that it was a little slow to get going as the author laid out all the framework to the story. But, I loved that this isn’t your typical vampire story and has its own identity from a lot of other book in the same genre. It comes across as an adult paranormal romance, but I found that a lot of the content was more suited to Young Adults- as there was a LOT of ‘teenage Angst’ and it was very light on the romance side. Ariya and her love interest James did have a great connection and chemistry, but the angsty push-pull really drove me crazy and I feel that it went on for a little too long. I also feel that the author missed an opportunity to take this story to the next level, by having too much melodrama and not enough ‘romance’. Don’t get me wrong, this story is very enjoyable and definitely worth the read- I just felt frustrated by so much push-pull/angst/melodrama. The story is set to continue in the next book, ‘Awakened’, and I have already jumped right in to it, to find out what will happen next.
