Hawk’s Cry (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Naomi McDonald

Hawk's Cry (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2)Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hawk’s Cry is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the other Satan’s Devils series to get a good feel for the supporting characters. Plus, all of the Satan’s Devils series are excellent reads!

While this book wasn’t as action heavy as some of the previous books, it deals with an issue that many people experience. I don’t want to go into specifics because I don’t want to ruin the impact of the story, but Hawk’s experience is very relatable on many levels.

I am glad that Liv’s character was a strong support character because in so many cases IRL things are not that way. From an emotional standpoint, she is a strong female lead in this story.

This book is a superb read and I can’t wait to see what issue this author tackles in the next book!

Bargaining (Hero High Book 3) by Mina Chara – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Bargaining (Hero High, #3)Bargaining by Mina Chara
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book three in Mina Chara’s ‘Hero High’ series featuring Friday Fitzsimmons. The series is set in the near future world of Icon City, a place filled with powered one-percenters. Although there is a brief catch up at the beginning of this novel, the series of books needs to be read in order, Denial, Anger, and then this book, Bargaining. The story centres around Friday Fitzsimmons who is a student at Hero High which is a famous school for people with powers. However Hero High is not just a school for trainee superheroes it is also a reality TV show and one of many on the Hero Channel. This book continues from, book two, Anger, and although Friday has joined the ‘Gold Team’ and is now liked by the producers of Hero High things are going wrong for her. Her relationship with friend Jake is falling apart, Dr.Dangerous is not who she thought he is and as soon as she is about to uncover the truth forces she can’t see interfere. Friday still has Captain Fantastic on her side though.
This is another short read but packed full of adventure, a fast paced storyline continuing with Friday’s adventures at Hero High. I have come to love Friday over the three books and think she is a great lead character, very likeable and in this story she is still overcoming her acute anxiety of which she suffers, this to me makes her a relatable character. She is also doubting herself, as she wants to be a good super hero but is worried that she is loosing herself in the process. The world building is great and really pulls you in so you feel totally immersed in Icon City.

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Juls Dick

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life’s a Witch is the 3rd book in the New Orleans Nocturnes saga by Carrie Pulkinen. I have to say, I am a huge fan of this series, they are witty, romantic and have excellent stories. In this book Crimson, the unfortunate witch from book 2, is called upon by the High Priestess of her coven to face her punishment for her wonky spell from book 2 in which she almost unwittingly started a war with the local werewolf’s. In her attempt to save herself Crimson ends up setting herself a challenge she in unsure she can win. Mike, a recovering demon, has his eye on crimson and wants to get to know her better but is he is unable to keep his demon side in check which results in a race to save them both. I really recommend this series if you like a light-hearted, paranormal romantic comedy. A really enjoyable read.

Bargaining (Hero High Book 3) by Mina Chara – Review by Juls Dick

Bargaining (Hero High, #3)Bargaining by Mina Chara
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bargaining the 3rd book in the Hero High series, the book picks off where the last book finished. Friday is now hot on the trail of the golden syringes and has encountered Dr Dangerous again but doesn’t understand why he is so fascinated with her or why she has stated to have feelings for him too when she knows it is wrong. Throughout this book Friday starts to get more suspicious of the other supes around her and what their connections are to the golden syringes. She also finds out who the figure in the flames is, losing a part of herself on the way. Its hard to review this book without giving away the story but if you have read the first two instalments of this series you need to read this book too, the story is just getting better and I really need book 4 now to find out what happens next. Highly recommend.

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Angela Hayes

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life’s a Witch is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. Another fantastic, sexy, and funny Paranormal Romantic Comedy from Ms. Pulkinen. This series is such a fun read- I have really enjoyed my time exploring the New Orleans Nocturnes “world”. After meeting Crimson in Shift Happens (Book Two) and discovering she would get her own story in Book Three- I couldn’t wait to dive in. And I have to say, Ms. Pulkinen doesn’t disappoint! This series just seems to get better with each new instalment- and I have loved the sexy, fun, and humorous look at the New Orleans paranormal world. Even though these books are more light-hearted and sweeter than some of her other book/series- they still have plenty of excitement, dramatic developments, and intrigue to keep me spellbound. As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with witches, demons, magic, vampires, suspense, danger, and other supernatural elements- all set in mystical New Orleans.
As we discovered in book two, Crimson has a bit of glitch to her magic- every spell she casts simply goes awry. As we saw in book two- they can lead to some crazy and unexpected situations. Her latest blunder results in a summons to a Coven tribunal, where she will most likely be stripped of her powers, forever. In a fit of nerves, Crimson ends up challenging the coven’s High Priestess to a contest of magic- something she has no hope of winning… Right? This is where the story gets really interesting- and what happens next makes for a spellbinding read.
I hope this isn’t the end of the New Orleans Nocturnes stories- as I am definitely not ready to say goodbye- and there are a few characters who I would love to discover more about and need their own book/s- especially Gaston, Jasmine, and Jackson.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Thank you, Ms. Pulkinen!

Throwback
by Zeia Jameson

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I’m so glad I decided to read this one. This story was emotional and drew me in from the beginning. I found this story to be realistic, full of hope, and wonderful characters. The struggles of balancing life and love can be difficult and when Livy and Jeremy find themselves questioning their love will going back to remember how they fell in love help them? I found my heart hurting for them at times and rooting for them as well. We get background information on each of these characters which helps us know them better and I think that makes this book that much better. The author did an exceptional job portraying what most of us have felt at one time or another. I can’t say enough good things about this book. I highly recommend reading it.

I’m going to be completely honest here,I was hesitant to read this book only because the uncertainty of it. Boy am I glad I jumped in head first because I absolutely loved it. I literally did nothing else until I finished reading. I spent most of my time reading on the edge of my seat and just when I thought I had it figured out ,I was wrong. There’s just the right amount of mystery , drama ,and suspense and at times my emotions were all over the place. I felt like at times I was right there with the characters. And the author does an amazing job of writing the story that even though it switched back and forth between times. I found it to be smooth and I had no trouble following along. I found myself forming opinions about the characters of Joel ,Clancy, Lorraine and Garrison each one of these characters play a role in this book . By the end my opinions definitely changed. Find out what happens next in this must read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Another journey into the Satan’s Devils MC and I was not disappointed. I really found that the author does such a great job of keeping the flow between the books. I was glued to my chair to see how the drama would play out.

Hawk and Olivia’s journey is so full of emotions and drama. I really like how the author delves into the world of depression. It really makes one really drawn to Hawk and his plight. I really like how the author brings in all the emotions of Olivia and how it isn’t just the sufferer who is hurting but those around them as well. I also like how the author balances out with the drama. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.

5 +++++ Stars. PHENOMENAL

Not sure where to begin! Is it really possible that this is this author’s first book?? This shocks me because this book felt like it was written by someone that has many best sellers under their belt.

I have managed to read this in one sitting, it wasn’t easy because it’s a Saturday and my only day off but once I started I COULD NOT put it down, and honestly with the world on lockdown what else did I have to do besides clean, do laundry, pay bills, ADULT? I am so full of emotions after finishing..I sat and stared thinking it all through and can’t figure out if I’m happy or sad. This should be a movie, I watched it all play out feeling like I was watching and I hated when it was over. I suspected a couple things not quite early on but later in the book because there were a couple statements made that made me think…whoa, wait a minute and I was right on one of those, but the other twists and turns blind sided me but made so much sense after I was finished. This author wrote in two different timelines, and this is something I normally do not like but I couldn’t wait to get back to each of them all the way through. This is a story of family and the bonds that hold those families together, and the lengths families will go to to protect those bonds. It’s about secrets and promises made, it’s about bad choices and Love, Anger, Jealousy, and a whole lot of Mystery and plenty of Suspense.

Not even going to try to touch on this story, you truly truly have to read it. It is probably one of my favorite books so far this year and I hope this author is writing right now because I can not wait to pick up another book by her and many more after.

Incredible Story!! Can’t wait to read it again!

Kat's Conundrum (Raven and Hummingbird Book 3)Kat’s Conundrum by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book and the adventure it took me on. This author has continued to impress me on her writing skills and her attention to details which make the story engaging. This is a well written story that will take you on an adventure with Gods, humans and unseen forces. I had no problem connecting with the characters and they brought the story to life. Kat’s life has spun out of control and her love has not yet returned. As the world spins out of control around her, her destiny is unsure, on top of all that she could lose perspective on who she is. These are great characters that support each other which made the story easy to read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige

I don’t know why Ms. Paige isn’t on top of my go to authors but I’m going to fix that. This is not the first book I have read by her where I got so sucked into the story I lost track of time. I was up way too late reading on a work night, but I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen between Blair and Ashton.

This story takes you through every possible emotion. I laughed several times, cried couple of times, was horrified, happy, relieved, worried and most of those feelings were just the first few chapters.

I loved the dynamic between Ashton, Becker, Blair and Charli. All of them grew up together. The guys have been best friends since they were six and Blair being Becker’s little sister and Charli being her best friend means the girls were always around the boys.

Loved the way it ended. I usually feel like there is something missing at the end of books and keep hoping there will be additional books in the series but I don’t feel that way this time. As much as I loved everyone I’m happy with the ending. She tied up the loose ends up perfectly for me, though I wouldn’t be too upset if this group showed up again in the future.

Sex-O-S; The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (The Italian Saga, #4)Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sex-O-S is the second novel in the Italian Teens series, part of Gaia B. Amman’s Italian Saga. The saga follows Leda, a young Italian woman, as she grows up.
In Sex-O-S, Leda is in her mid-teens. The boys she’s dating (in particular, the seemingly ever-present Nico) want to have sex. She’s not sure she’s ready. With conflicting advice from her friends, the church, her family and everyone else who seems to want to butt into her love life, Leda struggles to make the right decisions and to trust her judgement.
There are some darker moments in this book, particularly relating to sexual abuse. These are handled sensitively, from the perspective of a young Leda coming to understand why people (especially Nico) behave in the way they do.
I really enjoy all the characters and places that become familiar over the course of the series. Leda’s summer routine, visiting her grandmother, feels particularly nostalgic to me by this stage! The Italian settings are wonderful to get to know, like going on holiday to the same place again and again.
For me, this is a four-star book. I’d recommend it to older teens and young adults – it’s not unlike Adrian Mole but with an Italian girl! I’ve read the books in slightly the wrong order – it’s still perfectly easy to follow the story as Amman reminds us of any important information and backstory as it comes up. That said, once I’m finished I will probably reread them in order!

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen

5-Stars

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen was hilarious and romantic. I literally laughed hard for several minutes during a few scenes. This book is my favorite in this series. Crimson is a bad with, not wicked, but bad in that her power tends to misfire. She has to appear before the coven and face losing her powers. On a last ditch effort she challenges the High Priestess and is surprised when the Goddess answers her call and the challenge is planned. She has a month to figure something out. In the meantime, she meets Mike who is a recovering demon of hell. He falls head over heels for her but accidentally damns her because she jokingly says she would sale herself to the devil. His demon half responds and now they have to figure out how to save her from working for Satan and defeating the High Priestess.

I loved this book and the characters. I loved that Jane and Sophie were there to back her up. They all make an amazing group of powerful women. They are inspiring and strong. Mike was also amazing and I loved that he always found a way around his demon nature to do good. The thing with the Angel food cake and demons was hilarious. Excellent book and part of an excellent series. I highly recommend it and easily give it 5-stars.

Bargaining (Hero High Book 3) by Mina Chara – Review by Faith Jackson

Bargaining (Hero High, #3)Bargaining by Mina Chara
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 3 of the series and I’ve enjoyed reading each book. In this one, we find that the main character’s life is in shambles. As her friendship is crumbling, she discovers Mr Dangerous is perpetrating. She feels helpless as people are being compromised. Hidden figures are controlling the hidden truth she seeks to unveil. As she’s thrown into more of the spotlight, she’s losing herself through it all. Mr Fantastic believes in her probably because he knows who she is no matter what. Her main purpose hasn’t been lost in hindsight.
Though this book wasn’t what I expected, especially after the previous ones. I personally feel like the main character lost her way somewhat in this series but Mr Fantastic quickly got her back as she was going off course which saved this last book for me. I’d fallen in love with the other two and didn’t wanna see her wind up like all the other characters but I don’t wanna give away too much of the premise. Overall, great book and beautiful series done by Mina Chara.

ThrowbackThrowback by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Livy and Jeremy come from both sides of the spectrum as far as love goes. It’s like they speak two different languages and from two different planets. Livy being from Mars and Jeremy from Venus or vice versa. Livy is not one to believe in love at least the way the world has told her to believe. Jeremy is ready to prove to her that he can make all her love dreams come true.
That is, though, until everything turns their world upside down. They let the world as they know it crumble their structure and they go with the motions of the ocean. As time goes on, they realize only they can change their fate. Will memories be enough to rekindle their fire or is it too little too late?
Right now, with all that’s going on in the world, I could use this book at the right time to keep my mind during this quarantine. If you’re a relationship or marriage chick like me who believes in hopeless romantic stuff like this, it’s the book for you. I love books about romance and anything about reuniting in love. This is just that type of book for rediscovering your love for someone and doing what it takes to stay in love or find your way back to one another. This story is beautiful as you believe all that it is for the couple and their love story. Great book!

Sweet Salvation (The Protectors, #3)Sweet Salvation by Toya Richardson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is by far one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. It’s a shifter romance series with an edge and plenty of action. I wasn’t the least disappointed when I read this. I loved it from start to finish because it didn’t disappoint. This book is filled with unpredictable action and romance like no other book I’ve read before. I don’t wanna ruin the premise so here goes nothing:
Manuala just wants to live an ordinary life as a human but when she leaves a life of protection her dream life is turned into a nightmare. Her companion comes to her rescue just as she’s being devoured by the life that has befallen her. Manuala’s body has been through the ringer and she doesn’t expect her companion to want her after the wear and tear.
Inside the Elias Crane Protectors community, Josh lives. After he’s been through his deal of emotional pain, he hopes for peace until he is reunited with his companion in Spain at a Protectors community: Shattered and abused.
Through a psychic bond, they share their past memories with one another. When Manuala seeks vengeance, she sends tremors through the Supernat communities. We ride with Josh on his ride to stop her before this voyage kills her. Pick up this series and the others like it. You won’t be disappointed!

Hawk’s Cry (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Lisa Helmick

Hawk's Cry (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2)Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the story! First off I love coming back to visit all these characters! In typical Satan Devils fashion we go on a journey through the ups and downs with these two. The story is filled with characters we know and love. Hawk and Olivia are already married so I wondered where this one would lead me. Hawk saddened and frustrated me then shocked me. His thoughts and feeling were WOW! Olive is a born and raised Princess of the Satan’s Devils. She has no desire to ever leave and is happy living amongst family and friends. But her husband has changed and she worries about his well being. She is a old lady through and through, Tough and she stands by her man.

I love how the author took old main characters and made them secondary characters. I love still seeing them but not in the spotlight. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy reading anything that had them in it. But I also enjoyed reading about their kids and their life now.

Overall this is a good story with an inside look at marriage life with a high ranking officer. I always enjoy these characters and look forward to more. This author does a great job making me love these characters then knocking me down just to pick me back up.

The story Kat’s Conundrum (Raven and Hummingbird Book 3) by Nikki Broadwell is a wonderful fantasy book. It pulled me in right from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It has an amazing storyline and wonderful characters. The story includes magic and danger. It is entertaining and addictive to read. In this story Kat finds herself lost and trying to find the path that she should be on. Bran, the god who she loves, has not returned and Kat soon finds that her memories have been stolen. Will she get her memories back? Will she reunite with Bran? What is Kat’s destiny? Read this book to find out what happens to Kat. This is a story that has heartbreaking moments and other moments when you wonder what is going to happen next. I found myself turning pages as well as my emotions taking an emotional ride throughout the book. The story is wonderfully detailed and I found myself feeling like I was right there with Kat. I enjoyed reading about many of the other characters that Kat interacts with. Many of them are helpful to her. Then some are only out for themselves. This is a book and series that I would highly recommend reading.

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail and Day Al-Mohamed is a steampunk twist, fantasy story that is also a faerie tale of a different kind of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. A faerie tale that has magic and steampunk, mystery and danger, heartache and suspense. The author’s words and story building made it easy to imagine with so much vivid colour what was going on. I was a little disappointed at times because in several places I found the story a little slow but then I felt like the ending was a little rushed. That being said I still enjoyed it..

Hawk's Cry (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #2)Hawk’s Cry by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hawk’s Cry is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation series by Manda Mellett. I have read all the Satan’s Devils books from the original right through to this second generation series- and have loved them all. This series follows children of characters we’ve come to know and love in the previous series. so, having said that, I highly recommend reading the previous series before embarking on this one- as I think there is a lot of background information, character details, and relationship insights that are revealed in those books- which if you knew, would definitely give you a better understanding and appreciation of this book.
This is a contemporary MC romance story, and as such it is full of bikers, suspense, sensitive topics, comradery, action, drama, emotion, and more.
It did take me a little while to ‘get into’ this story and connect with the characters- I wasn’t sure I would at one point- then something changed and I was there- hook, line, an sinker. Hawk’s story really pulled at my heartstrings. Gave my emotions one heck of a workout and had me twisted up inside.
Another brilliant addition to the series!

Thank you, Ms. Mellett!

Enemies of Doves by Shanessa Gluhm is her debut novel and what a story it is. The story jumps back and forth from present and past, slowly revealing Shanessa’s many intricately woven threads. For a first novel Shanessa has done a wonderful job in bringing this suspense mystery to life. It is a tale full of lies and deceit, mystery and drama, secrets and regrets and is one emotive telling. I did find myself wondering in the beginning whether or not I would stick it out but I am glad I did or I would have missed out on this little gem. Holding Out for YouHolding Out for You by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So incredibly good! Holding Out For You is a novel written by Anna Paige. It’s a big brother’s best friend romance and one that I have fallen in love with. It is a definite rollercoaster of emotion that is mixed with a whole of serious and a whole lot of sweet. Blair has been in love with her big brother’s best friend Ashton for a long time. Longer than she would like to admit. Ashton is in the same boat. Neither one wants to admit it to each other or anyone else. Coincidentally, Blair’s best friend Charli is also in love with Blair’s big brother Becker. But everyone knows that. What everyone doesn’t know is if Becker returns that love or not. Everything comes out to the open when Blair is set up on a blind date to Becker’s party and Blair is attacked. That’s when Ashton decides he needs to step up. This book is very intense. Intense in the sense that it’s emotional and also in the sense that it is quite steamy. There are numerous scenes where Blair and Ashton get hot and heavy. This is book also talks about sensitive subjects. However, this book is a book that I would recommend to anyone! I was quite surprised with this one and cannot wait to read the next one!

Holding Out for YouHolding Out for You by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige was a great 5 star read.

We start with Blair and her friend going to a party. Blair’s friend has set her up on a blind date that is a total bust, he is not the guy for her. She gets a call from her brother to go get his best friend Ashton. The man that has done nothing but torment her through the years.

At the party she ditches the date and hangs with her friends. Ashton crashes for a quick conversation with Blair and ends up leaving with a little bit of jealousy on the brain. Why is he jealous? Just a few more short pages into the book these two admit their feelings for each other. There is a twist and we get an even better story.

We get several POV’s in the book which I really enjoyed. All of the characters were great.
The author does a great job of pulling you right into the story. The chemistry between Blair and Ashton was great, they were made for each other. I would love to see a book come from some of the other characters in this one. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Holding Out for YouHolding Out for You by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a 5 plus read and had me hooked from the very beginning. I found myself staying up late at night to get a few more pages in. Blair is one of the main characters and she has a special love / hate relationship with her older brothers best friend Ashton. They have known each other for over a decade. Blair has been hiding her feelings for Ashton for years and Ashton has been hiding his feelings for her for years also. Is it worth ruining a relationship with his best friend ? What will happen when Blair goes to college? There were to many things to worry about so everyone kept their crushes hidden well until one night at a beach party.
A lot happens at the beach party and something’s won’t be easy to forget.
I really loved this book and cannot wait for more. These characters were all Loveable and the story was completely relatable. You definitely won’t be disappointed when you read this book.

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Holding Out for YouHolding Out for You by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige is an amazing brother’s best friend romance. I read this book in less than a day. I absolutely could NOT put it down!

Ashton and Blair have been in each other’s lives since childhood. Ashton is Blair’s older brother’s best friend so he’s always been around. Sometimes, Ashton made it pretty easy for Blair to hide her true feelings. No way was she going to let her tormentor know she felt anything other than disdain. Ashton knows how to push Blair’s buttons. He knows how to challenge her and he wants so much more than that from her. It’s about time he lets her know. Will these two continue to pretend or have they just been holding out this whole time?

The only bad thing about this book is that it ended. As soon as I started reading, I was in deep. There is some unexpected turns in the book and I didn’t see them coming but everything was so well written!

Holding Out for You by Anna Paige – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Holding Out for YouHolding Out for You by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holding Out for You is the first book that I have read by this author and I loved it! It kept me turning page after page and I couldn’t get enough. This was a new adult story that I thought was well written and the characters were awesome and it was so full emotion, love… and you guessed it, a little bit of hate…
Ashton and Blair are the main characters and they grew up being around each other but they didn’t like each other at all. They loathed each other. But now they’re all grown up and thing are different. An attraction seems to have sparked between the two of them but that doesn’t make the hatred disappear from all those years ago. The banter and humor of this story were the best and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen between them next. I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this to anyone that loves romance!
Happy Reading!
