Slick Running (Satan’s Devils MC #3) AUDIO BOOK by Manda Mellett

It had been awhile since I read this ebook and of course jumped at the chance to have it read to me once again. She did an amazing job picking her narrators for this book and I literally listened to it in a little over a day including breaks.

This one came right out of the shoot tearing at my emotions, and I’m not sure those emotions ever evened out. This one kinda sorta has two storylines, one started back in book #1 and I love the way that was all handled..took me a second and I was like whoa hold on this sounds familiar then I actually went back and paid attention to the times given to me at the beginning of the chapters.

My heart is still completely broken and there’s parts of this book that will still play out later and I’m actually not looking forward to those because I know they aren’t going to be easy. Not going to go into any of that because you really just need to pick this up to appreciate all of the emotions.

Slick has absolutely positively won every ounce of respect I can muster up, I felt so bad for him because he didn’t know the whole story about Ella and what she went through and acted rashly, as well as how Ella was dealing with it all. There are alot of moving parts to this whole book, and in some ways it’s because I know what is to come down the road. This is now another of my favorites from all of these series, although I’ve read them all I still can not wait now to grab every audible going forward.

Please do yourself a favor and lose yourself in this Satan’s Devils world…it is absolutely positively no doubt about it my favorite MC of all books I’ve ever read!

Like the rest of my brothers, I’m devastated when disaster hits the Satan’s Devils MC. Shocked and angry, there couldn’t be a worse time to be contacted by the woman I’d briefly made my old lady, only for her to run the moment things got too tough. She’d left me with no explanation, and in my book that was enough to cut her out for good. When she finds herself in trouble Prez makes me go see her and offer my help. But only on the condition she knows what was once between us will stay dead and buried. There had been no good reason for her to run, had there?
Ella
I didn’t run from Slick, I ran from his club, only to find the world outside their protection can be just as dangerous. And now, to protect my little sister, I’ve no alternative other than to ask Slick for help. It’s not good timing, the Satan’s Devils have just lost one of their own.
I understand why Slick wants to keep his distance, I ‘d hurt him when he’d put everything on the line, acting out of character and claiming me as his old lady. A gesture I’d thrown back in his face. But I’m not the same woman he first met. There are things he doesn’t know.

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Hanging Softly in the Night, A Detective Nick Larson Novel by Maria Elena Alonso Sierra

Narrated by Charles Kahlenberg

This is a new author and series to me. I thoroughly enjoyed this story that kept me guessing until the end. It definitely can be listened to as a stand-alone, but I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the books in this series. This book was filled with mystery and kept me listening long into the night.

The narrator of this book is also new to me. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could listen to the whole book, but after about a chapter the narrator grew on me. It had just been quite a while since I listen to a book with one narrator. Lately I have listened to duet narration. This book really took on a life of its own once I got into the storyline.

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra- Review by Lauren West

I dreaded every moment I had to pause listening to get back to my everyday existence. This was a story that was good to read, but amazing to hear. The narrator had the perfect voice to fuel your imagination of a detective on the hunt. I was enraptured with this book, and felt transformed into the story itself the more I read. The mystery, romance, suspense, and dramatic intensity only help to draw you in more. As the story unfolds you see Detective Larson become more entangled in the complexities of the suicide case, handling issues with his lady love, and becoming a man pushed to the limits. Can he solve this puzzle and will it be in time?

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Kerry Baker

<span;>This is a book that I had already read but and intrigued to see how it works translate to audio book. With such a complex story I wanted to really immerse myself in it and the audio version did just that. It really helped to elevate the imagery and the whole experience. Hearing the story play out made me feel like I was part of it even more and I felt engaged in a different way.
<span;>The story still felt exciting even though it were familiar and I think that credit has to go to the narrator. I become so invested in what they were saying I almost forgot I knew they story. This is a fantastic audio book and any fan of this genre should pick it up today.

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Alexandria Richard

4/5 Stars.

A true detective novel. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book and the hunt for the truth that occurs. Nick is your quintessential NYPD detective, looking for the truth and connecting the dots of things that most others wouldn’t see. Here the hunt is on for someone who is either assisting in others’ suicides, or is making it look like others are committing it. It’s literally a race against the clock to save people.

I’m not one to try and guess the outcome of the mystery in books but the answer to the “whodunit” here shocked me; I did not see that one coming. I enjoyed the touches of romance and building of relationships for the NYPD people, depicting them as well rounded individuals, rather than one dimensional. I also enjoyed the “side story” of Sandra and Laura. I have not read any other novels or stories by this author but it sounded like it was a continuation from another book in this series and it makes me want to go hunt it down.

I did listen to the audiobook of this novel and the narrator was pretty good. I enjoyed his inflection and his pace, however I did notice there were issues with pauses and such during what seemed like readings of other things, like reading a suicide letter or something else someone wrote. I’m not sure if that’s from editing or the way it was written out for the narrator, but it made me withdraw from what I was hearing. Overall, good bordering on great performance.

Content warning for explicit descriptions of death and suicide.

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Amanda Glaspie

Detective Nick Larson is a called to an apparent suicide but not everything is at appears. I really enjoyed this book with the many twists and turns and complete shock at the end. It did get confusing at times as character development was a little off with backgrounds and it felt like several stories combined into one. After a few chapters however, I was able to differentiate each character and their particular personality. I can see how the character introductions and development these the book open for more in the series and would continue with the series. Overall, I did enjoy the book and would recommend.

This book is filled with twists and turns.  The suspense is off the charts.  Once you get hooked, you won’t be able to stop listening.

Nick Larson is a homicide detective with skeletons in his closet.  When a case brings those skeletons out, Nick must manage his emotions, the case, and blossoming relationship.  As Nick and his partner dig further into what appears to be a suicide, all the signs are pointing to homicide.  As the cases pile up, Nick notices a connection that might point to a serial killer.

Will his skeletons keep him from figuring the case out?  Can his new romance survive his job?

The author builds on the characters developed in this series to keep one hooked.  It was a wonderful listen.  Can’t wait for the next chapter in this saga.

This is a must read for those who love an intense story. You won’t be disappointed.

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Ashley Westerman

I don’t have a lot of experience with audiobooks, but I thought I would give my favorite genre a try in an audiobook. It did not disappoint. I loved that the narrator used different voices for the characters. That made it easier for me to follow and understand which character was speaking and when. This was an excellent first choice for me. Overall I thought it was very well done, and held my attention throughout.

This is my first audio by this author which I enjoyed listening to from beginning to end.  I enjoyed how the narrator pulled me into the story by using different tones of voices.  They kept the story engaging and made it easy to listen to.   They made it easy for me to imagine the characters throughout the story.  This is a suspenseful story that is a fast paced about a detective and a serial killer that needs to be found before more deaths happen.   The twists and turns had me wanting to know more about  what would happen next.   This is a great audio and I can’t wait to pick up the next audio by this author.  I highly recommend this audio.

I read this as a book several months back and enjoyed it. When I saw that it had come out as an Audible I wanted to hear it. The narrator is great!! His gritty voice gives it that perfect cop tone. The story with audio gives it so much more. It was as I’d pictured in my head: gritty cop; hard case; rough life. Absolutely fantastic! The story is well-written. It starts right off with action that grabs you by the wrist and says “come with me.” The characters are very relatable. Nick’s pain is palpable. I recommend this story to all who love cop mystery.

This audio book was such a fantastic listen! I wasn’t 100% sure when I first read the synopsis but once I started it I was hooked from beginning to end. The author’s writing was fantastic, so gripping and engaging – it didn’t change the whole way through the book either. The characters were complex and the story was multi layered – it honestly is one of the best books that I have listened to this year! I can’t believe I have never come cross this author previously but that will absolutely change now I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her work!

As well as the amazing story the narrator was great too, really brought the story to life!
1 100% recommend this audio book!

Hanging Softly in the Night: A Detective Nick Larson Novel AUDIO BOOK by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Angela Shirley

This book sends the senses into overdrive with the story, as you listen from the first chapter you are drawn into the world of this author and are carried along to try and solve the crimes.

The story follows Detective Nick Larson as the melodic tone of the narrator invokes your imagination in the story, Nick has been battling demons for years but when a suicide gets dumped onto his desk it seems like an open and shut case but when he goes to the scene and thinks there something hinky going on, he decides to delve in deeper and try to find the answers.

Once they start delving into the life of the suicide victim things are not starting to make sense, so they carry on with the investigation they discover the underbelly of New York, can they solve the murder and save there selves in the process.

I listened to the audiobook while following along with the ebook. I really enjoyed it, but I probably wouldn’t do it like that again. The Narrator has a very creative reading style and does an amazing job with the the different character voices!

I was drawn in by the synopsis, but found it hard to get into the book. I had to take a couple breaks and a few times paused the audiobook to reread some pages. With that being said, once getting halfway through the book, the Author definitely hit their stride and has me wanting more.

The Author does a fantastic job with main character, Ian Troy, and his struggle with the suffering and heartbreaks he continually faces. The world in which he lives and all the past and continuing pain, makes this book a heavier, darker toned read.

Although I have read many fantasy novels, the Author has a very unique take on magic, and how it works. I have high hopes for the next two books in the series and I look forward to reading more works by this author!

The captain’s cigar is seriously chewed, and everyone is working around the clock. To complicate matters, on a personal level, things aren’t going smoothly, either. Laura Howard, the woman Nick loves, is also having issues with a psycho twin sister who is doing everything to ruin Laura’s business and her life.
Then Nick’s captain assigns a new case, a suicide. From the moment Nick steps on scene, however, something doesn’t feel quite right, especially when, upon investigating the case further, the supposed suicide looks more and more like an actual homicide. Immediately, Nick’s instincts kick into gear, but rev into overdrive when similar, questionable suicides pop up around the area. And with the way things have been going lately, it would just be Nick’s luck to have a serial killer on the loose.

Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra is an award-winning author with a unique point of view: thrills and kills, with a twist. Her characters are placed in danger in ingenuous ways while, at the same time, her novels are set in locales across Europe and the United States, reflecting her international upbringing and extensive time as a Cuban exile and global traveler.

The author’s writing career began circa age thirteen with a very juvenile science fiction short story; but the writing bug hit, and she has been writing, in one capacity or another, ever since. She has worked as a professional dancer, singer, journalist, and literature teacher in both the university and middle school levels (and not necessarily in that order) and holds a Masters in English literature. All her novels have received different accolades, including gold, silver and bronze medals.

Ms. Alonso-Sierra loves to hear from readers. When not writing, she roams around to discover new places to set her novels.

Amazing! The first book in this series is read by the same two narrators and they are both amazing! Their voices fit the characters so well, they must be in a biker gang! This story line was crazy! It started off dramatic and mesmerizing and just got more and more crazy from there! Listen to this book series! You will not regret it!

Best Audio Story Yet

The author has done it again!!! I’ve read another of her series, so I was really excited to sink my teeth into another of her fantasy series. With her story, and the narration this is easily my favorite audible. The narrator did an absolutely phenomenal job bringing this story to life. I haven’t ever heard anyone do quite so many different vocals, and do them WELL.

This dark, intense, and highly action packed story is gripping from beginning to end. I picked it up and simply couldn’t put it down. It was a little raunchier than I was expecting, so I had to take some breaks. The main character can be a bit of a rake. I would have liked to see a little more character development, which may be happening in his next adventure.

All in all, I can’t wait to read the second book and find out what happens next.

Captivating with a shocking ending. Following Ian Troy as he navigates how to save the kingdom from war and other powerful shinrees all while battling his own demons. This is a story that will have you wondering what’s next. Initially I struggled to get into the book but it didn’t take long that I found myself not wanting to stop listening. The narration was fantastic and helped be to tell the story. The character development was strong especially when you think you’ve figured out a character and it all changes. I am definitely ready for the next bookin this saga.

I fell in love with the various voices of the actor. He did a fabulous job making this audiobook relaistic and knowing when a different character was speaking. That makes an audiobook 100% better because of the performance. The book was packed with adventure, thrill, and passion. The twists and turns in the storyline kept me listening for hours. The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price AUDIO BOOK by C. L. Schneider – Review by Ashley Hasting

Just like we all learned from Once Upon A Time, all magic comes with a price. With the main character of this story, he truly had a price to pay with the crown stone he came upon and used in anger 10 years past. He now has to help his people as well as the citizens for magic is beyond the horizon about to be used for evil. There are many dramas with family, enemies, friends, and mutual acquaintances, and every single one is great to listen to. If you like reading about magic, try this one out!

Drummer’s Beat (Satan’s Devils MC #2) AUDIO BOOK by Manda Mellett – Review by Robin Rankin

This is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC series and I’m completely obsessed with this series.  I started reading further into the series and had not had the opportunity to go back and get caught up with the older books.  When I saw she was releasing the series on Audiobook I was so excited that I was going to get caught up.

Drummer is the President of the Mother chapter of the club and is quite content with his life until he meets a damsel in distress.  She flips his world upside down pretty quick.

The narrators did an amazing job bringing Drummer, Sam and the rest of the club to life for me and I found myself going on a drive just to get a little more listening time that day.

These books are standalone, but it is so helpful to listen/ read in order so you know the back stories.

Looking forward to the next book to be released, hoping the narrators are good as Sierra Kline and Logan McAllister if they are the ones.

This author is fast becoming one of my favorites. Each book in the Satan’s Devils MC series is unexpected, immersive, and heart wrenching. This book is no different. Drummer is the president of the Satan’s Devils MC. He passing by a stranded Sam. Little does he know, this chance meeting will change his future, and the lives of many other club members forever. Drummer is your bad boy with a kind soul, and I feel in love with him right away. Sam is a woman who is constantly underestimated, and I related to her immediately. Their story was wonderful to experience, and the danger that follows makes this book one you just can’t put down. Though this author does a wonderful job of making each of her books unique, you can always expect an epic love story filled with danger, action, and “to hurt them you have to get through me” tenacity! I look forward to her other books. If you have been thinking about give the Satan’s Devils MC books a try, do it!

I want to say kudos to both narrators for the telling of this story. Drummer is the leader and president of his motorcycle gang and one day comes upon a woman who claims one of his members is her dad. Ever since he let her in, she has been a beat to her his drum and him to hers. They have a lot of drama on the gang, family, and relationships as well as other groups that take them on a long journey that will not be forgotten. I truly enjoyed this book and will complete the series!

WoW! I read this as a book but listening to it narrated to it to a whole new level. The narration was phenomenal. The narrators had the attitudes of the characters down to a t. They were just as I had imagined them. I felt that the characters were even more relatable hearing them performed. The author has such a way of writing that her books are guaranteed to be full of sass, spunk and adventure. Not normally a fantasy fan, I have become one with this author, I will be reading more of this series, hopefully listening. The story was fun and full of adventure. The descriptions kept me going and rolling with chuckling laughter and “ew”. I recommend this story for just flat out anyone looking for a good adventure. You’ll love it.
