Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Drew (Perfectly Independent, #1)Drew by Amanda Shelley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this romance story. This is a new author for me, I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a fast paced story where the author’s use of details not only kept me engaged but turning pages to the end. This is a well written story about Abby and Drew. They find themselves as lab partners. He is nothing but a distraction for her. He doesn’t date to keep from getting distracted. Now these two find themselves each other’s distractions but what will fate have in store for them? You don’t want to miss finding out if they give in to their sweet distraction. I enjoyed their chemistry and their growth throughout the story. They truly made the story for me. They are strong characters that made this story easy and entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book.

My Soul to Give (A Demon's Love #1)My Soul to Give by Magali A. Fréchette
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author. I can’t wait to see what is next for them. I enjoyed this paranormal romance story. This is a well written story about revenge and choices that could change everything. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and has characters that bring the story to life on each page. They are connectable and really just made the story for me. I enjoyed their growth throughout the story. One fatal bullet has left Celina with a choice of making a deal with a demon or joining her husband in death. Her husband had secrets and she is about to find out how bad they are. She is faced with choices that will change things for her forever. Will she make a deal with a demon or will she fall to the unknown? I really enjoyed this story and what the characters brought to the story. The author’s use of details made the story not only realistic but easy and entertaining to read. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. The author does an amazing job of keeping the reader gripped by making the story engaging and eventful. The main character Liz and her daughter have gone through a lot but the author makes their bond and how close they are shine throughout the story.

After Liz ex husband Gerry is arrested for money laundering it turns Liz’s life upside down. Now being tarred with the same brush as him she can’t go anywhere without people stopping and staring. So she decides to get away for a while and with her daughter then head to Red River.
This is where Liz’s story really starts when she finds out her old boyfriend is the Marshall of the town.
The old flame reignites  between them but with Liz’s past bringing danger to the quiet town can they survive it.
The romance in this story gets steamy to a point then stops which keeps you wanting more. I would love to see how Liz and Matt story progresses.

Master Tuscano (Masters of the Consulate Book 2) by Sylvia Black – Review by Beverly Finnie

Master TuscanoMaster Tuscano by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sylvia Black is at it again with Master Tuscano(Masters of the Consulate book 2. Character development is well written especially since there are lots of characters to follow. Unfortunately, though I have a lot of love for Overmaster Salvatore Descallia, I don’t care for Christian Tuscano.
Christian is a hot head vampire who has a tendency to break the rules of the Consulate, especially with Delilah at his side. I didn’t care for her at 1st as well, but she started to grow on me as I continued to read. I’m hoping as the next books are released, that Delilah has enough impact on Christian to change my views on him.
Just because I don’t like Christian, doesn’t mean you won’t! Also doesn’t mean it takes away from how I felt about the novel in general.
I really enjoy the world Sylvia Black has created and I love forward to the next book releases for The Masters of the Consulate Series. If you like vampires, mystery, some suspense, with a little romance thrown in, these books are DEFINITELY FOR YOU!

Return To Alpha: A new saga beginsReturn To Alpha: A new saga begins by Wesley Britton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

Return To Alpha: A New Saga Begins by Wesley Britton is an interesting futuristic sci fi tale. The storyline is original and is a spin off from the original series Beta-Earth. Wesley explores different concepts that reminds me a bit of the concept from the TV series Stargate or Sliders, in that different parallel universes exist. He gives us an intriguing premise and he has a unique writing style. He has created a story which is complex and has a lot of layers. With an interesting array of characters that are unique and quirky. If you are a sci fi buff you will enjoy this tale.

Raven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber – Review by Jenni Bishop

Raven Woman's TavernRaven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 stars

Raven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber is a paranormal story that is set in a dystopian future that could well become a reality. This dark tale is a quick read, and I felt the story was a little disjointed and unfinished in some instances. Overall, the premise is interesting and there are a lot of players and different aspects being played out. Raven is not what she seems. She is always around and watches everything. She is all knowing, and all seeing and hands out life and death as she sees fit. But that is only part of the story the rest is about people trying to survive in small town on the fringes and a world that has been ravished and where the militia are the law.

Repair (Rescue Me Book 1) by Trish Williford – Review by Sarah Hammel

RepairRepair by Trish Williford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Repair, Charlotte helps her friend and lifelong crush get his mind off of his father’s death and ends up sleeping with him. Unfortunately this turns sour for her the next morning and she spends the next eight years living, studying, and working in Colorado as a trauma nurse. The story is quite simple but delicious in its delivery as Charlotte, or Charlie as she goes by, and Trent, or Tank, get reunited and find their love to still be true and strong. There are silly moments, deep moments, and plenty of very hot moments that you’ll need to be sitting down for! A very quick, cute, and downright STEAMY read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dangerous Curves Boxed Set 1 contains 3 Cozy Christian Mysteries by K.L. Montgomery

I actually read book one, Betrayal at the Beach, before I even knew it was part of a boxed set. I loved the story so much, I got the box set as soon as I found it!

These mysteries are light hearted and utterly perfect. To read these stories, is to be plopped right in the middle of Sunshine’s small town. You get to know the characters, and fall in love with all their little quirks.

The books included in the set are as follows: Betrayal at the Beach, Mystery at the Marina and Shooting at the Shore.

Betrayal at the Beach introduces us to Sunshine while she is trying to figure out who stole a famous town artifact and the money she raised from the Gala to fund the library.

Mystery at the Marina follows Sunshine on a sea adventure when several animals wind up dead on the shore. With more secrets than Sunshine can handle, how does she protect herself?

The final installment in the set is Shooting at the Shore. This is almost what I would consider the “most intense” story of them all. When Sunshine is the last person to have talked to the victim, things get a little hairy. Can Sunshine figure out what has happened before it is too late?

Boy Released by JD Spero. First off wow just wow. I knew I’d probably like this book since book one was great but I didn’t just like it I loved it. This author knows how to write a story that gripped me from the get go. Not once did I feel like this story needed anything. I do recommend you reading these in order. This one takes place several years after book 1 but it’s a very well done transition. The characters are complex and pull you so completely into their story that I forgot time all together. The storyline is one of the best I’ve read this yea. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m thankful to not only find this book but this author. Five huge stars and highly recommended!

I could hardly put this set down once I started reading them. I’m not a new ready to K.L. Montgomery and she definitely did not disappoint with this series. I highly recommend reading this series! I don’t know if I can pick a favorite out of this set, but all I know is I can’t wait to read the other books in this series! These books can also be read as standalones. Or at least I took it that anyway.

Forbidden Mate (The Shadow Chronicles Book 2) by CR Robertson – Review by Erin Wolf

Forbidden MateForbidden Mate by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Forbidden Mate (The Shadow Chronicles Book 2) by CR Robertson, 5 stars.
**This review may contain spoilers from book one.**

This book is so incredibly good! I forgot how good this series was, but as soon as I started this one, I could not put it down. While this is a paranormal romance with some pretty steamy scenes, it is so much more than that. With an enemy that wants to destroy both of their species, and former master vampire determined to make Tasha his, there is plenty of action and suspense. Then there are the surprises waiting for them, both with the vampires and the lycans. But this book is not just about Tasha and Levi. The secondary characters from book one are back and we meet a few new interesting characters, too. This helps to really make this world even better.

If you are a fan of paranormal romance starring two characters absolutely devoted to each other and the survival of their kinds, then this book and series are for you. I recommend reading book one first so you have a bit better understanding of what happened previously.

4.5 Stars

Tainted by Marsha R. West is a gripping romantic suspense that swept me along on quite an intense ride and had me flipping the pages to discover what would happen next. There is plenty of action, mystery, investigation, tension, chemistry, dramatic developments, second chances, intrigue, and more. This might have been the first book of Marsha R. West’s that I have read, but after devouring this story it has left me with a taste for MORE, so I can’t wait to go on a one-click spree and binge on her books!
Liz has been through quite a lot lately. Her perfect life was turned upside down when her husband of 25 years was arrested and jailed for money laundering. Even though she wasn’t involved in any way and didn’t know anything about his illegal activities, it hasn’t stopped people from treating her as a criminal. Being pulled into the FBI investigation and the subsequent trial/s has left Liz feeling burned out. So, she decides to retreat to her family’s cabin in the mountains for some much needed R & R. She is so ready to leave all the drama behind her, but unfortunately trouble follows her and she finds herself in the centre of a whole new dangerous drama- one which brings the local marshal to her door who just happens to be her old high school boyfriend… so there’s going to be more sparks flying than there are bullets. What happens here really makes for a very intriguing and enjoyable read.
Can’t wait for more!!

Thank you, Marsha R. West!

If I am honest this isn’t my normal preferred type of story. The story takes place in the underworld. However, I was pleasantly surprised! This book ends on a cliffhanger so I definitely recommend getting into the series. I think the characters were well written and I really enjoyed Vanessa and Grey. It was a great, short read and I definitely recommend it. Be sure to check out the series!

The God (Her Three Immortals, #2)The God by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The God was a great 5 star read.

I was excited to get the second book in the series. We start where book one left off. Van finds herself in Grey’s penthouse and he isn’t happy about it. There is something about her that pulls him in and he keeps trying to resist her. He runs away to his office to try and keep space between them.

She arrives with gold on her from the love arrow that Aroz shot her way. Supposedly this arrow will make you fall in love with the first person you see, but does it really work?
There is this awesome mirror that Van can see her loved ones back home on. I loved the mirror’s back story and what Van did for the mirror. So sweet.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, we get several POV’s and all of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get several steamy moments. The story does end with a slight cliff hanger. There is so much going on in this great read, the author pulls you right in with her writing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.

She hates her name and can’t bake to save her life but mysteries are no problem for this amateur sleuth. This story has made my top ten list. I love a good suspense story. This is a well-written thought-provoking story. Have you ever started over from a bad romance and look forward to finding yourself again.? That is what Liz and Matt are doing. There is a bit of a problem. They have a past but can they have a second chance at love? Both are running away from their troubles, but will the trouble come looking for them? This story is a page-turner. It keeps you wanting to see what is going to happen on the next page. I enjoyed Liz and Matt’s relationship. I was cheering for them to get together. I highly recommend this book to see if Liz and Matt’s relationship blossoms or see it go by the wayside.

Dangerous Curves Boxed Set #1 (Dangerous Curves Books 1-3) by K.L. Montgomery Is simply one of the most amazing series that I have ever read. Ms. Montgomery gives us fantastic plot lines, amazing characters, and beautiful scenery. However my personal favorite is the fact that the main heroines are librarians! Everyone expects Sunshine and her friends to be just quiet librarians but once you start book 1 Betrayal at the Beach you will quickly learn that these girls are not your average librarians. Book 1 was so amazing that I finished it in one sitting and couldn’t wait to start book 2 Mystery at the Marina. In book two Ms. Montgomery provides us with yet another cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns, and so many secrets that you won’t be able to wait to see what happens next. Finally after devouring the first two books I got my hands on book three Shooting at the Shore, which is personally my favorite out of all three books. But the question is will Sunshine and her friends be able to figure out the clues in time to solve the mystery, you’ll just have to read this cozy mystery to find out for yourself.

I love this cozy mystery Christian series of books! These books are clean and so much fun to read. In book 1, you first meet Sunshine Baker. She is a librarian whom tries to find out who is taking money and a very valuable bible. She also has great friends whom all help and try to find the culprit. In book 2, there is something happening in the water at Bryce Cove. The mystery of animal life coming up dead…fish, jellyfish and also a small whale. When samples of the dead marine life are sent to a lab to see why they died, the information is going missing from the databases. Who is erasing the data and why is marine animals coming up dead? Everyone is looking for Sunshine to try and figure out this mystery. Book 3 there is a murder to solve! There was not a murder in Bryce Cove for so many years. A body washes onshore and Sunshine and the gang try and solve this mystery. This set of books are truly awesome. I cannot wait to continue the series.

The things that happen inside an MC club will have you shocked and more than a little disturbed. These guys are not to be screwed with as they will defend each brother or family with his life. This is not the life Sophie knows anything about. Those you think can be trusted end up not trustworthy and attacks come when not expected. The tension grows as the story continues and you will not be able to put it down. Loved Loved Loved this book.

Betrayal at the Beach.

Sunshine Baker work in the Bryce Beach Public Library as a YA and she has been working with the Friends of the Library Committee to organise and throw their yearly Gala to raise funds for the library, as well as her role at the library itself and has been enjoying every minute of it and as the night of the gala arrives, she is hoping that everything will go well and that the invitees will enjoy the evening. From the start it looks like everyone is having fun and the catering, magician act and music are keeping everyone entertained, when the food is served and she finds out that she has to make the first speech and introductions, she is terrified, but manages to get through it and the rest of the evening inscathed, that is until after they have counted the donations and are presenting the total to the audience when there is a crashing of glass and a scream where the crowd is shocked into panic. The Founding Fathers Bible, a priceless artifact has been stolen and when Sunshine goes to check on the donations in the locked room, she is devastated to find out that they have been stolen too.

The police are called and statements are made, but when she arrives at work on the Monday morning, the Chief of Police is there to see her and ask her some questions, however, she is surprised to find out that they suspect one of the employees and that they need the information of all who had access to the room that the donations were being kept in, whether they were at the Gala or not. This has Sunshine worrying and this is increased even more when she goes to see the head of the Library and is asked for her opinion and then to look into it in her own time as well. This spurs her onto asking questions of her friends Evangeline and Molly, drawing up a list of attendees and talking through the events of the night again, but all this does is throw suspicion around with no strong leads bar one, so the next day Molly and Sunshine make plans to talk to them, but in a non-threatening way to try and glean some more information from them about that night. As these conversations take place, more tidbits and accusations are thrown around which are making Sunshine feel even more uncomfortable as they are mostly pointing towards one of her friends and another colleague as the police appear to be less than interested.

As the stakes are raised and jobs are on the line, will Sunshine and her amateur sleuthing skills solve the mystery before jobs and a priceless artefact are lost forever? This is a cozy mystery which will keep you guessing through to the end as the hunt for answers throws light upon a small community with secrets and stories to tell.

Mystery at the Marina.

Sunshine Baker is back and she is still the full YA librarian at the Bryce Beach Public Library and she is still coming down from all the excitement around the founders bible and the theft of the donations a month ago, but she is happy and is spending time with her family, friends and God. As her summer programmes at the library are starting up and the teenagers are actually attending and not falling asleep during them, she counts that as an achievement, so when she closes up for the day, she is ready for an evening of fun with her friends, they are going to a new restaurant which hasn’t long opened and she is really excited, however, she is not sure how she has managed to get there before her friends, even though they left the same place at the same time!

While she is waiting outside the restaurant, she is people watching and happens to hear a conversation between two gentlemen clad in business suits and heading out of the restaurant, she thinks the subject is a bit odd, but thinks no more about it until a couple of days later when she goes for a walk on the beach with one of her friends and their new puppy. As the are walking and chatting away while the puppy explores the area near the lighthouse, they suddenly come across some dead fish washed up on the beach, but they soon find out that it isn’t just near there, it happened over at the Marina side of the cove as well and there are other sea creatures involved this time too. Sunshine cannot help but be curious about the reasoning behind it, so she starts asking questions, however, the police aren’t being helpful, so again, Sunshine takes matters into her own hands.

Sunshine’s investigative tendencies turn up a gear when she starts to see more Coast Guard boats patrolling the area than normal and does her best to see what is happening close up, but as she starts to put things together and the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place, will she be able to figure out why the sea creatures are dying and who is behind it all? This is a cozy mystery where there are twists, turns, secrets and revelations which you will want hook you in and keep you enthralled until it is solved.

Shooting at the Shore.

Sunshine Baker returns and her library programme is taking off, she even hosted an awards ceremony for the attendees where local people and businesses donated prizes to the winners and everyone had a whale of a time, so she is enjoying life. As she is leaving the library after closing up, she spots a neighbour who donated and prize and funds to the library, so Sunshine wanted to thank her personally, but when she goes to see her, she is surprised by what she is talking about, apparently an outside company is bidding on a piece of land to open some shops, condo’s and restaurants, however, one of them is something which in her eyes, is not family friendly, so she is vehemently opposed to it and intends on outbidding the big city developers. Meanwhile, the ladies witness a crime in progress across the road where Sunshine spots a police officer on a bike and sends them after the criminal before heading home for a girls night where they catch up on the latest gossip and events in each others lives.

At work the next day, another crime is committed in the library of all places and Sunshine quickly gives chase, but fortunately, the police arrive to apprehend the criminal instead, however, when a call comes in over the radio, Sunshine immediately gets the feeling that she needs to be there, so she follows the police on their way over and observes them pulling a body onto a stretcher and it is someone she knows. When she finds out the circumstances of their death, she knows something isn’t quite adding up, especially when she starts to do some research.

As the days pass and Sunshine investigates more while sharing what she has found with the chief of police, she cannot help but think that they are on the wrong track with their investigation and as she digs deeper, this gut feeling becomes stronger and stronger. Will Sunshine be able to solve the mystery and figure out the who, what, where and why of this crime, or the leads she is hoping to follow lead to dead ends? This is another cozy mystery where secrets are revealed and tangled pasts are brought into the present as this small town reels from the death within its borders, while you try and figure out the conclusion to the mystery at the same time as this amateur sleuth.

Forbidden Mate (The Shadow Chronicles Book 2) by CR Robertson – Review by Megan Watson

Forbidden MateForbidden Mate by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was fortunate enough to read “Forbidden Wolf” directly before this book so I was able to jump right back into the world Robertson created and read from Tasha and Levi’s mind like I didn’t skip a beat. Lucky me!!! 😁 Because it has been an EPIC adventure!!
This book starts off running and doesn’t seem to stop until it ends with a decent enough resolution that I can put it down and not be exasperated about what I was left with. BUT!! I want more! I want the next book and I want it NOW!
We get to see the growth of the love and soul connection that Levi and Tasha have had since their first snarky bite at one another; and let me tell you, the steamy scenes DO NOT DISAPPOINT!  Ssssssoooo hot! We also get to see more plot twists and the increase of enemies from all sides that gather and never seem to end.
Once again, I stayed up later than I should have – not even to finish it…. Just to find a stopping point so my mind would be willing to put the book down and get some sleep before work the next day. I legitimately screamed at a major discovery and stayed glued to this book in order to finish it. I bow to you CR Robertson! What a great story this book was!

Ride For Me (The North Shore Crew Book 1) by Vi Summers – Review by Kerry Baker

Ride For Me (North Shore Crew Series, Book 1)Ride For Me by Vi Summers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ride For Me by Vi Summers is the first book in the North Shore Crew series. This is a brilliant book and such a fantastic way to start a new series! I love the characters – not just the main ones but also the peripheral characters too. They added so much to the story and really enhanced it.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed how much fun and excitement she brought to the story. It worked well with the character development and made for a much more enjoyable read. This is a great book and I am looking forward to the next.

Dangerous Curves Boxed Set #1 (Dangerous Curves Books 1-3) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Dangerous Curves Boxed Set 1: 3 Cozy Christian MysteriesDangerous Curves Boxed Set 1: 3 Cozy Christian Mysteries by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging boxed set containing the first three books of the cozy Christian mystery series, ‘Dangerous Curves’. I love the main character YA librarian and amateur sleuth Sunshine Baker who works at the Bryce Beach Public Library. Sunshine jumps into action when there is a mystery to solve. The setting of the small town of Bryce Beach is really bought to life by the descriptive narrative. In the first book, ‘Betrayal at the Beach’ Sunshine is keen to discover the culprit when there is a theft at the library and has to consider that it may be one of her colleagues.

The storyline for ‘Mystery at the Marina’ involves Sunshine investigating when sea creatures turn up dead on Bryce Beach. During her sleuthing she discovers evidence that proves that one of Bryce Beach’s most prominent families are involved. The third book, ‘Shooting at the Shore’ involves a murder when a body washes up on the shore. Sunshine’s investigation looks at whether the recent talk of developments in their quiet coastal town is a motive. Along with Sunshine her colleagues, Molly and Evangeline help with the investigations and both bring different elements to the stories. I loved the relationship and dialogue between the fellow librarians.

I also love Sunshine and her catchphrase of “Jesus, take the wheel!”, she makes a great main character who really does bring the stories together. The plot twists in each story kept me guessing until the end and I was gripped by the storyline in all three books, finding that I could not put the books down. A great boxed set which I literally ‘binge read’ and I definitely recommend reading this series.
