Falling Down (Rockstar #1)Falling Down by Anne Mercier

I don’t know where to even start with this book. It had me laughing so much with the banter of it all. Smiling at all good parts. The spice factor is there also. Lets see Mafia stuff, Hollywood actress and also musicians… you can’t beat this intwined book that’s going to make you want to keep going in the series. ( once you’re hooked…you’re hooked) You can just tell the chemistry is there between Jesse and Lucy. It’s a wonderfully written story full of hope and great characters.
A definite must read! I’m definitely going to book 2 in this series.

Notebook Mysteries ~ Art of DeceptionNotebook Mysteries ~ Art of Deception by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jeremy and Emma are it it again but this time the stakes are a little higher I’d say because there’s emotional involvement this time , there’s a family friend that needs help 🌸

Peggy and Tony are married and very excited with the imminent arrival of their little bundle but then her brother “disappears “ and they turn to their sleuthing friends for help ….

I felt for Peggy because she and her brother were en strangled for a while and now their “ reconciliation “ is no more because he has died 🥲

Emma pretends to be his sister to see if she can find out how and what really happened and those she comes into contact with underestimate her because she’s a brave and determined girl 🥰

Another instalment to tick off ❣️📚

The Rebirth Part 1 (Planet Amazon Series) by Crystal Dawn – Review by Melissa Saxton

The Rebirth: Part One (Planet Amazon #0)The Rebirth: Part One by Crystal Dawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic read this story was. It captivated me immediately and had to know more. The book followed a well written time line that made sense and the relationships were also done quite well.
Andrea worked her entire life to find the lost city of Atlantis. Her interest came from a book she found in the library. She works hard, goes to school and ends up being indispensable.
Atlantis was finally found and they did find what they were looking for. Who was going to go through this door unknowing who or what might be on the other side. The government crew she’s with has no idea if anyone would survive going through but Andrea volunteers.

She reaches Atlantis only to find she might be a 40 year old woman on earth but here she’s seems to age in reverse. She finds that this society is ravaged after brutal wars and biological weapons which has taken them back to simpler times. Andrea put her heart into being here and she trained and won the hearts as many as her skills were impeccable.
She meets Marcus (who is Lydia’s (the queens) slave but she never keeps one more than 3 months, Andrea feels a spark like nothing she can understand, they become closer with tryst in the woods. However since hes the prize for the upcoming fights, she knows she was to win
In the midst of this is Jonne who’s a uncooperative slave. Andrea manages to pull personality from him and find him intelligent and sexy in a way that is opposite to Marcus and Andrea feels she needs both of them to make her whole.
Lots of drama, steamy(but not overly done) and a great touch on the lost city of atlantis

So they all band together to help Mouse, but Bird thinks that Mouse’s plan is absurd, but who will be right, Mouse or Bird? This is a charming story of imagination, determination and perseverance for all ages, while also teaching about teamwork and kindness all at the same time.

There is only one truth: guard your heart.
All I want is a quiet drink. Guess it is too much to ask. Especially for my ex who will not take a hint when I tell him the seat beside me is taken—by my purse. My gaze snags on the super-hot guy in the reflection behind the bar, the one whose knowing wink should put me off. But my attention keeps straying to him. When football standout Wyatt “Bax” Baxter makes his move, steals the barstool from my purse, and sends my ex on his way, I can’t decide if I’m irritated or intrigued. After I caught my ex cheating, I know better than to trust a man with my heart. Yet when one thing leads to another, Bax becomes the only thing on my mind.
It was supposed to stop at a one-night stand.
Bax is unexpected. I don’t usually date football players. The fact that he listens when I talk is as big a turn-on as his broad shoulders stretching his T-shirt. When we hook up, he rocks my world. But my terrible history with men stops me from giving him my number. One and done, moving on is my motto these days. Though Bax lets me walk away, he refuses to let me go. He finds a way to live rent-free in my head, and to my everlasting shock, I keep seeking him out. Our backgrounds are wildly different. We make no sense together, but I can’t stay away.
She’s out of my league—like that ever stopped me.
Piper Maxwell is the whole sexy package—smart, independent, and the best time I ever had. When I wow the crowd with a pick-six during a big rivalry game, I know exactly where to point the ball—at a purple-haired hottie cheering in the student section. She insists on keeping it casual, but she is too special to let get away. I’m known for my tenacity on the field, something Piper is about to find out extends off the field too.
She thought the game ended in the first quarter, but I play to the final whistle.
Game Time.

Melissa was born and raised in Arizona. She’s spent her entire life all over the southern half of the state. She’s found that, along with her husband and four children, she prefers the small towns and rural life to feeling packed into a city.

Melissa learned to read at barely three, and her love for series started early, as the first ‘real’ books she remembers reading is the Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Through the years she’s found there’s little she won’t read, and her tastes vary from westerns, to romance, to sci-fi / fantasy and Horror.

In October of 2015 the anthology, Wicked After Dark, which featured Change by Melissa, hit #13 on the New York Times Bestseller list. To date, Melissa has more than 50 books available.

Alchemy of Glass (The Apothecary Series) by Barbara Barnett
Hosted by Itsy Bitsy Book Bits
Genre – Historical Fantasy

Cover Designer – In House Start Media
In the catacombs of an ancient ruined monastery, hidden away in the Eildon Hills of Scotland, a land of myth and mystery–the place where immortal apothecary Gaelan Erceldoune found sanctuary as a lad– Gaelan discovers a journal, apparently written by his old friend Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, chronicling an adventure into the Otherworld, a land of fairy castles and filigree trees hung with Spanish moss.
Falling from the journal’s pages, a small piece of glass, which Gaelan recognizes as a fragment long missing from a stained glass panel he’d created a century earlier. When the opalescent glass seems to come alive in his hand, Gaelan is suddenly thrust into strange world far from the fantastical dreamscape Conan Doyle describes.
Alchemy of Glass weaves a tale magical as spun glass and terrifying as a shattered mirror, drawing upon cutting edge science and the most ancient of Celtic mythology, intertwining the magic of fairy lore and the harsh reality of difficult choices, returning us to the world of Gaelan Erceldoune as his past, present and future collide.

Wildfire Knockout (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by M Policicchio

Wildfire Knockout (The Predator #3)Wildfire Knockout by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you are following this series you understand that this story is all about Beth and Scott. If you are not following this series, you should first stop, step back and read Predator parts 1 and 2 to figure out who all the characters are. This novella about Scott and Beth is so emotional and filled with growth and laughter and second chances. It is beautiful.

Beth is following her dream of becoming a professional boxer under Chamberlain’s guidance and team. When K.C. gets pregnant, Chamberlain decides to take the season (not something I realized that boxers have) off and stay at home with K.C.. Scott and Beth head out on the road for the season and her fights. Between the bouts and the training and just the close proximity, Beth and Scott start to become frenemies. That eventually leads to them not hating each other and a friendship.

Through this time with Scott, Beth is slowly healing the wounds that needed to be healed on the inside so that she could figure out that she could, in fact, love again. Scott’s patience helps get Beth there. One night Beth opens up about everything, all the horrible-ness of her past and why she has been keeping Scott at arm’s length. Scott tries to help Beth understand that none of it matters. That he can love all the broken pieces of her until she is whole or put back together again.

Some big stuff happens (can’t tell you what, you’ll have to read the book for that). Beth finally tells K.C. all the dark and horrible-ness from her past. K.C. tells her that she loves her and that she is her sister because Beth loved her when K.C. didn’t love herself. It was a tearfilled moment.

Not sure where this series goes next but I am here for it. Love these characters. Not sure about everyone. I still don’t trust that everyone has the best intentions but we will see. Oh….If I hadn’t already said it, read this book. It is really good!

Wild King (King Brothers Series) by K.M. Scott – Review by Beverly Finnie

Wild King (King Brothers #2)Wild King by K.M. Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been waiting for this book! At the same time I’ve been busy so I couldn’t jump in right away. Wild King is a great addition to the series. The author wrote an entertaining story that’s very enjoyable with some adventure now. A story that you won’t want to end.
A weekend getaway turned into their biggest obstacle. Kellen needed the time away. So when he decided to spend his weekend in a tropical climate, he knew he wanted to find some company. What he didn’t expect was his desire to keep that company around.
Salem’s vacation was coming to a close. While trying to enjoy her final night, this man crashes her party. He’s rude and obnoxious, but persistent which is intriguing to her. When she decides to take him up on his offer of a night of no strings fun, she agrees under one condition. They don’t share their names.
When their weekend is upended by crisis control back home for Kellen he never thought he’d see her again. Boy was he wrong. Salem is now the fixer that’s been hired to clean up his disaster of a life. Living together for 3 months will be no easy task but Salem is convinced she can keep things professional.
Does she cross the line?
How does Kellen come out of this?
He’s not happy. And she has a plan. However it will cause more questions but the author gives yoi the answers throughout the story.
Will Salem tame the wild King?

Notebook Mysteries ~ Art of Deception (Notebook Mysteries Series) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Notebook Mysteries ~ Art of DeceptionNotebook Mysteries ~ Art of Deception by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Art of Deception is the next in the Notebook Mysteries series. I have read them all, and love them. The author is also getting better at writing, as the books go on, which is even better. While the characters lives do evolve throughout the series, I think you could start anywhere in the series and enjoy the book. It is very untraditional, but action packed. Emma is a detective in 1800s Chicago, and likes to challenge the status quo. She is in a long term relationship with Jeremy, who have taken in a child Hen, but they are not married. Her family lives in a communal living, and their residents are like family. They don’t play much part in this book, as we focus as Emma and Jeremy try to solve the murder of one of their friend’s brother in law. There was a lot of character development in this book, so I really look forward to seeing what the author comes up with next.

The Apothecary's CurseThe Apothecary’s Curse by Barbara Barnett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Barbara Barnett is a first time author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was surprised, in a great way! The Apothecary’s Curse combines fantasy, myths, science, and history into an fascinating story spanning centuries. The story follows Gaelan and Simon as they traverse the world, as immortals. Written from dual time periods, this book is well-written and seemed carefully researched. The world building is amazing, full of visuals of Victorian London and present day Chicago. The characters are realistic, believable, and oddly lovable. The connection between the past and present is palpable and engrossing in The Apothecary’s Curse. The story started off a little slow, but the pace quickly picked up and I couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait to read more by Barbara Barnett.

I have started to pick up more books by this author because my kids love them! This one has beautifully vivid pictures for the kiddos, and I feel that it adds more to the story. My youngest is 8 which is still in the target audience range. He loved it because he likes building things even when others don’t believe it will work. The rhyming throughout the entire story was really catchy as well! It’s a simple yet incredible book on determination, teamwork, and embracing your own unique thought process. This would be an amazing addition to your classroom, daycare, and even at home.

Dark is the Wood: A Young Adult Fantasy RomanceDark is the Wood: A Young Adult Fantasy Romance by Kristin Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This author definitely knows how to pull the reader in! I was hooked on the first page as the world building started to take off. Kinda started to go more to a hover between 3.5/4 stars towards about 30% of the book- it’s a nuanced thing, but I felt like there was both too much detail, and not enough detail. We were getting a lot of important details about the emotions, thoughts, and feelings of the characters, but I personally didn’t feel like we were getting enough detail about the world around us and around them. It felt very show-but-don’t-tell. I personally feel that with a little extra editing and pizazz, this would have made an amazing high fantasy-esque novel. I still really really enjoyed it, and I can’t wait to see what book two is going to hold!

This book is full of great characters, some suspense, romance, good friends, and so much more. This book pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself completely invested throughout. This author did an excellent job creating a story where I felt like I was there. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I recommend this book.

Wildfire Knockout (The Predator Series Book 3)

I liked Beth from the very beginning of Katie’s story but getting to know her made me love her and brought out my strong desire to comfort and mother her.

Scott is always there to help Chamberlain and Katie , but he never took the time to live his life. It was all centered around training Chamberlain and traveling to the different fights, but Beth changed everything the moment he saw her.

The back and forth between Scott and Beth was entertaining. They made me laugh more times than I can count but there were also some tears shed.

I have the next book on my Kindle ready to read and I cannot wait to dive in.

Another great book by the author. I have read most if not all of the series. Each time I picked up a book, I enjoyed the story and learning about the different pure blood vampires masters and their mates throughout the series. The connection the couples have with each other and with the others in their master group is fighting the rogue vampires. I suggest the books be read in order as much as possible to be able to connect the story from the beginning.

Glass Houses by Sinister Styx. This is a super short dark romance but it does come with trigger warnings. Its a very dark story that will stick with you long after you’ve read it. Its the story of Falcon and Ivy who are married but are also aware their marriage is doomed. Seemingly very happy until Ivy accuses Falcon of cheating and he begins to abuse her to no end. Planning to ruin Ivy for accusing him, he plans his revenge and when he takes action he instantly regrets it. These two love each other so much but outside forces are always against them. Physical abuse, darkness and infidelity are all in full force in this short read. When they both have spies to spy on each other there is nothing but chaos that will ensue and then the plan for revenge almost always backfires. Read this short read that will stay with you a lot longer than it takes you to read but beware of the triggers. Its not a cozy, happy love story.

“Absurd,” Said Bird : A Fun Children’s Adventure About a Mouse Who Dreams of Travel (Mouse Traveler) by Tricia Gardella – Review by Amy Dean

“ABSURD,” SAID BIRD.: A mouse plans a trip to the moon. by Tricia Gardella

What a fun little book for kids! My girls loved it! They have requested to read it several times. Every time they read it out loud they get even sillier with the rhymes. The story line is amazing and if you dream it you can do it. Absolutely wonderful!

Notebook Mysteries ~ Art of Deception (Notebook Mysteries Series) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Sheri Schrader

Notebook Mysteries ~ Art of DeceptionNotebook Mysteries ~ Art of Deception by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Notebook Mysteries Art of Deception is another mystery involving the wonderful Emma and Jeremy. This is a part of a series and can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend starting with the first book in the series to fully enjoy the story. Emma is back and helping her friends after a relative is horribly murdered. Though this is a cozy historical mystery there are twists and turns to keep you on your toes. I enjoy this series because the author always brings in great historical information into the stories adding to the realism. Emma has grown a lot as an investigator through the series which is evident in the complexity of what she goes through in this book to get to the bottom of the murder. I enjoy the characters and always enjoy books set in the late 19th, early 20th centuries. I look forward to seeing what mysteries the author takes Emma on next.

Such a cute quick book for beginner readers. Tricia makes sure each grandson has a unique imaginative adventure but makes sure they have time altogether too. The illustrations bring everyone’s personality to view with each adventure.

Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet (Oscar and Emmy Series) by Terri Sabol – Review by Karrie Sears

Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet: A book to explain how visiting the vet with your pets can be fun!Oscar and Emmy Visit the Vet: A book to explain how visiting the vet with your pets can be fun! by Terri Sabol
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Abby and Charlie are taking Oscar and Emmy to visit the vet. This quick read shows kids that pets need to see the “doctor” every year like we do to make sure that they are staying healthy. Goes over shots, brushing hair, and even teeth. Shows kids how to properly take care of their pets. Great illustrations and information for children. The end gives good information on pets health and how to keep them healthy and happy.
