I fell in love with the cover first of Courage of Us by Brooke May. I have read a few other novels of hers so I knew it would be something I would enjoy and it was a no-brainer to one-click for me this one. I am so happy to say that the book lived up to its cover and so much more.
I loved the characters Patience and Duke. Now, at moments I didn’t really care for Duke which will all make sense when you read it for yourself, but this guy felt like he got off the hook a tad too easy for my liking. That is until we find out the secrets haunting Patience’s past can be just as big a factor.
Patience and Duke were each other’s everything from the moment they met as infants. Unfortunately, life had other plans when they grew up. Patience is stuck behind and finds herself in a terrible marriage. Meanwhile Duke takes leave with the Marines and basically abandons Patience. Now the two have a chance to meet back up and put the past to bed. Will they be able to do so and build the happily ever after they both so deserve? This is one you do not want to miss and I am so excited to find out there will be more books to come! I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

Courage of Us (Code of Honor Book 1) by Brooke May is a story that you can easily get lost in. It is a military romance and it is one story with deep feelings and emotions, heartache and love, loss and pain and Brooke has written the characters in such a way that you become so immersed in them that you feel everything right along with them. It is a tale of young love that was lost and secrets that may destroy them.
Patience’s world was changing, everyone she loved went away but what hurt the most was the loss of her best friend. Nothing for seven years but heartache and loss but she is slowly rebuilding her life that is until her past comes back and she has to face it head on. Will she be able to share her most terrible secret with the one that could destroy her?
Duke could not bear to see the pain so he took off without a word and now he is coming home after years away and is determined to get back what is his. I loved this book so so much, this is only my second read by this author and that has to change because I absolutely love her writing style and her creative storylines.
Patience is probably one of my favorite characters ever..I want to be her friend and hang out with all her friends as well. I truly felt like I was inside this book while reading. I loved the parents and Aunt Satin cracked me up. I wanted to slap Duke upside the head, I was so mad at him for a good part of this book, he did finally win me over and I was able to forgive him, took me a bit longer than it did Patience, I wanted to slap her as well for not making him grovel a bit more.
This story had me hooked from page one and I seriously had problems putting it down until I finished. I loved all the interaction and I felt almost every emotion while reading, I smiled a lot, but it also made me seriously sad for everything Patience went through.
I hope there is more to come from this town and all these characters. I would love for all the guys to come home and have more interaction with the whole group…

Courage of Us by Brooke May is the first installment in the Code of Honor series. It is a precious military novel that I couldn’t put down after I picked up. The plot of the story was highly entertaining and quickly grabbed my attention. The characters were very developed and thought out very well. Patience and Duke were best friends from the time they were in diapers. After graduation Duke leaves and joins the Marines. Patience moves on with her life and falls into a terrible marriage that she cannot wait to get out of. Both Duke and Patience have been through so much in all their time apart and after he gets medically discharged and comes back home, the 2 reconnect. I was very unhappy with the way Duke left Patience, and it seemed like he was forgiven too easy. However I can see why the forgiveness was given over so easily as Patience has secrets of her own, that she also wants to be forgiven for. It was a pleasant read getting to watch the 2 of them rekindle their connection and build a foundation of moving on with their lives.

Courage of Us by Brooke May is the first book in the Code of Honor series. This book is a fantastic read that really draws you, as the reader, into its pages. The author immediately builds the connection between you and the characters. I knew right from the word go that I wanted Patience and Duke to find their happy ever after. The story was well paced too. The author gradually developed the story and the emotions within it. You could feel Patience’s pain on each page. This was a brilliant start to a new series and another great book by this author.

This is an amazing story to read. It pulled me in right from the beginning and I found that I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. The book had my emotions going up and down as I read about the characters and the situations that they face. The story has heartwarming moments and also moments that are hard for the characters to think about. I loved reading about Patience and Duke. I grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to be happy. The book also has some very romantic scenes. The story has additional characters that are introduced, and I enjoyed reading about the interactions between them and Patience and Duke. The story has the characters in situations that they must cope with. It had me thinking about what I would do if in the same situation. I found myself thinking about the story even after I had finished it. Don’t miss out on an awesome book that has amazing characters. I highly recommend reading it.

This story was an awesome one! It sucked me in from the very first page and I devoured it. It was well written and the main characters were relatable and I liked them alot. This story is all about second chances and finding yourself along the way. Patience and Duke are the MC’s and the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts. Patience is a little lost in life, and she is set on changing her life around and taking control. Duke left her lost and alone when he joined the Marines, but not that hes out will he want that second chance at love again with the girl he left so long ago? Go get this book! Courage of Us is the first book in the code of Honor series by Brooke May. I have read a few of Ms. May’s books now and love the way she brings her characters to life, and how easily she is able to get her readers invested in both the story and the characters. Her characters are so realistic and entirely believable. It’s like I have known them for years, instead of only the few hours I was immersed in their story. I love Ms. May’s emotive and inviting style and the way she is able to make me ‘feel’ everything her characters have, and are, going through. I really felt for Patience and Duke and was rooting for them the whole way through. I really wanted them to find their HEA, together. This is a wonderful second chance contemporary military romance, with emotion, pain, struggles, chemistry, drama, realism, courage, and more. Ms. May delivers on all the promise held in the blurb, and then some. Now I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Bring on Book #2!

This is one of those books that when it’s all said and done, your heart just feels lighter. It’s one of those stories about taking that second chance in hopes to heal the pain. I really loved this book. I love second chance romance stories and no one deserved this more than Duke and Patience. I felt for both characters, young and taking different paths but not communicating with each other on anything deeper than teenage problems. We then jump up to present day and my goodness the pain Patience went through was unimaginable. This series is now on my watch list. Must read!

Extremely well written, second chance romance. It felt raw, real, and extremely relatable. I loved the character development and the depth the author brought to the story. Courage of Us (Code of Honor Book 1) by Brooke May was an addictive military romance novel. I was hooked from the start. I loved how much though and creativity went into the storyline and characters. Duke and Patience were amazing. From best friends to lovers. I absolutely loved it. They both had some huge struggles a long the way but were able to find their own happy ending. Patience had a lot of things happen in her life while Duke was absent. She stayed strong even though things were bleak. I highly recommend this novel and look forward to reading what is next in this series.

I found this book to be fun, romantic, and unique. I loved how a lot of the laws include Aiko. Although she goes about things in a very unconventional way, I still thought she was sassy and really wanted to do the right thing. She night bend the rules a little but it’s for all the right reasons. I felt like her sisters were really hard on her ( not that they didn’t have good reason) but it would be interesting to get to know them better. I like Alejandro’s character as well, even the times I rolled my eyes at him. Over all I really enjoyed this book and I recommend reading this story.

Aiko is the first book in The Heartstrings Series written by Brooke May and it’s the first book that I have read by this author but it won’t be my last. The story line is very different which I like and the characters are well written. I loved the little quirks they have.
Aiko is back after a forty-year exile. She has been given another opportunity to help humanity. Alejandro Gomez is everything a woman could dream of in looks. His romantic abilities gyrate to the beat of mariachi. He is also Aiko’s new assignment.
Aiko is the worst cupid she is responsible for extermination of civilizations, plagues, and possibly the worst tragedy in human history may rest on her tiny shoulders.
Can Aiko help Alejandro find love or will she create another deadly consequence?
I simply enjoyed this story and I’m looking forward in reading the next book in this series?

Aiko (The Heartstrings Series Book 1) by Brooke May is a romantic comedy and a wonderful original idea. Brooke has written a winner with this story that drew me in from the start and I found myself getting lost in the story. You can;t help but fall in love with this cupid as she is unique and I found myself laughing out loud with her antics. Being the worst cupid out of all but is certainly not for the want of trying.
Aiko is once again on an assignment to help Alejandro Gomez find love but nothing ever goes quite like she would like.
You really need to grab a copy of this clever and interesting story. I know you will fall in love with it. I am counting down until I can get a copy of the next book. Well done Brooke.

Aiko – A Heartstrings Novel by Brooke May was a 4 star read for me. The book was about Cupid and his angels he has chosen to find love for humans. Aiko has had the worst possible luck in helping humans find love. She was recently found in the park watching a man name Alejandro make a fool of himself begging a woman not to walk away from him. Well Aiko is called home by mother who really isn’t her mother but, is Cupid’s right-hand angel who acts like the mother. Brielle is the sweet loving mother figure of the sisters. When Aiko speaks with Briella she finds out she can now take on assignments…her next assignment is Alejandro Gomez. Aiko feels like she is fighting a losing battle with this guy. She has seen him in action and knows this will be a lot of work. Aiko finds two possible women for Al to date. One is a perfect match and the other she is using to show Al the difference. Will Aiko be able to pull this off or will Al end up either with the wrong woman or possibly single? Aiko is being trusted with this task because Cupid and Briella both believe in her.

This was a cute story. I think the concept was very original. It’s about Aiko, who is a Cupid, needing to help Alejandro get together with the woman he is meant to be with. Alejandro, who is very good looking, has no clue when it comes to women. He is Aiko’s first case in forty years. She was exiled because she caused the worst tragedies in human history. Needless to say, this lead to some comical moments. I found the story to be entertaining with the twist of an unsuccessful cupid. The story is fun, light and filled with likeable characters.

Aiko by Brooke May was a sweet and comical quick read! I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I could not stop thinking of Murphy’s Law while reading this book. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong for Aiko and Alejandro. Aiko slowly reveals her past and I could not stop my mind from trying to connect dots. I kept my fingers crossed for Alejandro the whole time!

A great read about trying again. Aiko is a cupid that always seems to cause disaster. After so long of being a disappointment to her family, she is surprised when they give her another chance. She is given the assignment of a man called Alejandro who is unlucky in love. She struggles at first but soon finds her feet.But when things get complicated, can she achieve the impossible? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Aiko with her resilience but self doubts underneath or Alejandro stubborn but caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the understanding Briella or the supportive Mala or the critcisng Seraphina. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the sense of colour throughout witg the pink dresses or purple eyes or red kimono bold and vibrant and eye catching and wonderfully written. Or the sense of up the cupids home with its clouds and gates for a sense of magic and mystery. Or the colourful scenes at the start with the bright tulips and beautiful garden and the music for the feel or romance gone wrong. A great example of world building with a series of fantasy creatures coexisting alongside humanity with their own rules and laws and societies. I loved the use of the cupids as something different than other fabtays novels using angels. These were given the respect they deserve and true to their Greek origins. I also enjoyed the tale of an unsuccessful cupid, adding a sense of humanity to the character and making her struggles emotive. I also loved the hints to history like the library and troy adding a historical side to the novel, a wonderful addition. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Aiko was a wonderful read; it was funny, romantic and had likeable characters in it. It was an easy story to read and it didn’t take me long to get into it at all. I really liked Aiko, I thought she was such a great character to read about – she hadn’t had the best luck in the past with her job as cupid but I could tell straight away that it wasn’t going to be that way with her new assignment! The author got it spot on with the world building in this story – her richly detailed writing definitely made the story come alive and I really did fall for the characters. Aiko was a fantastic, light hearted read that I loved from beginning to end! This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author but it is definitely one of my favourites! I can’t wait to read more from Ms May again in the future!

Aiko was a great 5 star read (Romantic Comedy). Brooke has once again pulled me right in with her writing and I really enjoyed it. This is a quick read and you will be done before you know it.
Aiko doesn’t have the best reputation as a cupid, in fact she is considered the worst cupid ever. When she is assigned to Alejandro things get interesting, she is supposed to help him find his match.
Will she be able to help him find the one or will she fall for him herself?
Overall I really enjoyed this read, I had several LOL moments and twist and turns. The Cupid’s Law also had me LOL. I really liked Aiko and Alejandro, they were so lovable. All the secondary characters were great as well. The detail in this book is amazing, you feel like your right there with the characters. I can’t wait to read more from the series. Aiko is the first book in the Heartstrings series and was an interesting read. Aiko is a Cupid who has a rocky and colorful past. She is assigned to Alejandro to help him find his match. Alejandro has a hard time with romance but has a way with animals. The two made for an invigorating read.
I loved the banter between the two main characters and also the different dates they worked through. Aiko was very to the point and Al was full of sarcasm. This book was easy to read and I could not put it down. I was at the end before I realized it. I highly recommend this fun and romantic read. I can’t wait to read more in this series. I loved it.

Aiko by Brooke May was a sweet sassy funny take on a second chance Cupid. Aiko is looking to redeem herself for being a bad cupid. Her next assignment is going to be a good one. Alejandro has the looks but not a romantic bone in his body; he is in need of some help.
Brooke writing just pulls you in and fills your heart with goodness. Perfect name for this series “Heartstrings” because it pulls right on them. Each chapter has a Cupid’s Law and they are hilarious. If you’re looking for a sweet romance for your next read then this is the book for you.

An amazing take on cupid! I really enjoyed this story. Its light, quick but still has the air of a romance about not for the main character. Aiko is a cupid, but she has a way of causing teoible wherever she goes. They’ve made many amendments to their laws due to Aiko. I felt for her and that made watching what happens all the better.
This was a great read and I cant wait to read more from this series.
