Tails Always WinsTails Always Wins by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a one click author for me and I am always excited when a new series begins…

TAILS ALWAYS WINS is the first book in the “Chasing Tails” series. If you took the paranormal element from the book, we could be reading about the racism and destruction of humans and animals alike in current day USA.

A fast paced read, this book has well developed characters and a clearly plotted story line. “No one wants to know what causes pure evil to linger in the air. It’s too vile for even the worst of humanity.” There are times I smiled and other times I just didnt like a character yet I stayed engaged.

I definitely recommend this story and look forward reading the next in the series .

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

C.A. King is a one click author for me and I always enjoy her stories.

This is the first book in a new series about a (fictional?) town called Knollville. Knollville isn’t on a map, can’t be found by GPS and the road is hidden in plain sight.

This story has a different flair than then the stories previously written. It set up as more “horror” with a softer edge. It was fantastic and I was 100% invested from the STUNNING cover to the very last page.

One of my favorite lines: “Beware of the eyes of the beast, cold as steel, and the blood running through its veins. Its heart beats only to serve the demon within”

I absolutely recommend this book

Dangerously Close to Extinction by C.A. King is the first book in the Knollville Legends series. This is clearly going to be yet another brilliant series by an author that never fails to please.
I don’t bother to even read the blurb of the book anymore when it comes to this author. Her work is always so entertaining and thrilling. This book is no exception. You are instantly swept away by her writing and her characters.
I just loved Tawny. She was vulnerable and yet so strong. You can’t help but want everything to work out for her.
If you haven’t read anything by this author before you need to do so quick and this would be a gem great book to start with!

Dangerously Close To Extinction (Knollville Legends Book 1) by C.A. King is a unique shifter paranormal story where there is action and drama and soul mates and adventure. Tawny finds herself caught between being chased by the unknown to being kidnapped and not knowing who to trust. She finds out there has always been more to her life than she has ever known. What she does know is that shifters are at war and they have to fight to save them all. I will not say anymore because you have to read it yourself.

This is another great read by CA and one that should not be missed.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Dangerously Close To Extinction (Knollville Legends Book 1) by C.A. King, 4 stars.

Tawny keeps waiting for her father to get back from wherever he is this time. But in the meantime, she will keep up appearances. She doesn’t want anyone to know she is starting to get worried. But then she sees these eyes looking into the house one night. They seem like they are eyes of a beast. Later, it seems like that beast is following her. She hears tell of very large wolves in the area. Then she is basically kidnapped from her own home. She is told that this group and another even worse are all looking for her father. When she is told what these groups really are, it seems like she stepped into a Hollywood movie. But events happen that make her have to trust these people. But didn’t they kidnap her? And what about the one she can’t stop thinking about? To find her father and unravel the mystery, she has to decide whether or not to go with her instincts.

This is a good introduction to a new series. The characters are interesting and we learn just enough to peak our interest. I cannot wait to see how they evolve throughout future books. The story itself is different and fun. There is a lot of action and it puts a young woman in situations she is not prepared for but readily takes on. You don’t know just where the story with take you next either. I like to be surprised while I read so this was selling point for me.

If you like YA paranormal romance and action, this book is for you.

The story Dangerously Close To Extinction (Knollville Legends Book 1) by C.A. King is a book that I loved reading. It has shifters, mystery, danger, and legends. It pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the final page. I loved reading about the character of Tawny. She is a young woman who has two rival gangs wanting her to find her father for them. Tawny is intelligent, strong, beautiful, and stubborn. As clues to her past begin to emerge, she finds herself in a situation that she never believed she would be in. Is she also finding herself falling for one of her captors? What does the future hold for Tawny? Why is her father being sought? Will he be found? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has action and I found myself quickly turning pages as I had to know what happens next. There is humorous and at times sarcastic dialogue that had me smiling and laughing. I enjoyed the legends that are told and explained. Tawny is a character that is likable, and I grew to care about her with each chapter that I read. This is a story that I would highly recommend reading. It is entertaining and well written.

My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King was an original fast pace, thrilling read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

Wow, let’s just say I had this book read in one sitting, and I’m sitting here wanting, no needing more. I loved this different take on shifters and humans. It was quite remarkable and like I said, I was hooked! The detail and story telling was rich and methodical, it pulled you in, and it not only made you feel like you were there, but you felt every emotion and injustice. It was something I tell you, it’s something you have to experience for your self. I loved both MC’s and the split POV, it added a that extra something that rounded out this story and made it all the more entertaining and connecting. The plot is on point, complex and flows nicely, you can see the direction clearly, and the dark tones, just adds to the layers of magic and wonder.

Overall this book is a solid 5 start + from me, and it gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval. I’m looking forward to more books in this series!

Happy Reading

This is an interesting story. I enjoyed reading it and getting to know Brody and Tails. They met under precarious circumstances. Each thought they were doing the right thing. But evil is afoot and once they are aware of it will they change their path?
This story drew me in at the beginning and held on til the end. Some shocking things happen when the evil rises. I liked Brody for his no nonsense attitude. I think he was working himself into a pickle just because of the bogus laws being put Into place. Luckily Tails showed up to lead him astray…..or away.

I do want to make mention of the amazing cover! Very Cool looking!

Tails Always Wins by C.A. King is the first book in the Chasing Tails series. This book is a brilliant start to yet another great new series by an amazing author.
C.A. King has become, very quickly, one of those authors that I don’t hesitate to read. Half the time I don’t even bother to read the description of the book because it won’t matter what it says, I know I will like what I read. She has such a way of telling a story that I instantly get lost in her words.
This book was up the usual high standards too. I felt instantly connected to the characters. I was drawn into their story and taken on an exciting journey with them. It was a well thought out, fast paced story that I flew through in no time at all.
This book also has to have one of my absolute favourite covers. It is so eye catching and vivid. I loved it the instant I saw it. I cannot wait to see what is next in this series.

I loved this book, where shifters and humans clash. This is a creative story that has well developed characters that pull you into the story and made it feel real. This story takes place in a world that is full of injustice and prejudice. A breed registry is created for dogs but what will happen when they had shifters to the mix? I enjoyed watching Brodie and Tails grow throughout the story, they made great characters. What will happen when they take charge of their future? A must read!

The story Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King is a wonderful shifter book. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put the book down until I had finished the last page. It is a story that includes not only an interesting and entertaining storyline it also has 2 main characters that grew to care about with each chapter that I read. They are Brodie and Tails. Brodie is a shifter that keeps his nose clean. He doesn’t make waves. He keeps one side of himself hidden from society. He is finding it hard to stay under the radar. He then meets Tails. Tails is a woman who is strong, intelligent, and beautiful. Before she meets Brodie she never would have thought to question what she is told. What does the future hold for Brodie and Tails? Read this book to find out. There are moments that are sad, ones that are emotional, and there are times when you wonder what is going to happen next. I love shifter stories and I can add this one to my list of favorites. The author has done an amazing job of creating an awesome story with amazing characters. I highly recommend reading it.

Brodie spent his entire life keeping his nose clean and his other form hidden from society. Enrollment in an involuntarily threat evaluation was about to change everything. Failure left two choices: a death sentence or joining the fight. He had zero interest in leading a revolution, but the foxy lady at the centre of it all had him spinning in circles.

Tails spent the majority of her life learning the value of favours and how to extract them; a skill she put to good use for the cause. When a clumsy, run-of-the-mill shifter almost ruined everything, she found herself stuck on babysitting duty. In the past, questioning superiors never crossed her mind. The new addition to the pack not only turned her world upside down, but also had her second-guessing everything, including her own feelings.

Betting against them is a deadly mistake. Wherever destiny leads them, luck is sure to follow. In the end, no matter how many times the coin is tossed, one thing holds true… Tails always wins!

Truly Unfortunate
Welcome to Knollville
Book 1
C. A. King
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full length novel that includes a paranormal, psychological murder mystery.

Truly has lost her memory of all that happened as a child. She is under Doctors care and he is trying to help her remember. The nightmares are speaking to her and she just does not understand who or why. She works 3 jobs, and still can’t seem to make ends meet. Not to mention the abuse she has to put up with is getting the best of her.

Jeff is a detective, his goal is to find out about the death of a classmate at the young age of 9. Now more “accidents“ are happening. Following the fortunes the bodies are found with. Are they accidents or murder? Who is involved?

C. A. King has built this story up and kept me reading. The characters are well suited for their parts in this book. The suspense is so twisted,it even had me second guessing what is really happening. I love a story that keeps me drawn in. This will definitely make you want more. I’m looking forward to see where the next book takes us. Well Done C. A. King!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truly Unfortunate by C. A. King is a five star novel. I have read other books by this author and have loved them all. Even though this is not the normal genre of books that I read, her writing style is fantastic and makes the reader really need to know what is going to happen next. The book continues to go back and forth in time from when Truly was a child and then as she is a twenty something. When Truly is growing up, she feels like she doesn’t belong and no one likes her. The kids at school are brutal. When one of them has an accident and dies, no one thinks twice about it. The girl who died was the typical mean girl and everyone just thought it was fate for something terrible to befall her. But then other people in Truly’s life start dying too. Now it is time to find out if Truly has something to do with it or not. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series when the author returns!

Four Stars

Truly Unfortunate was a unique and slightly twisted read. You have this character Truly who has no memory and is surrounded by bad luck. She did everything she could to stay on a good path. There was always someone there putting her down. I was shocked when all the crazy deaths started happening. But was excited for the twist the author threw in the book. I am a firm believer in karma. I think the punishment for the characters crime was extreme but they were wrong. The only thing I wish was different was the details about Truly. She really had no personality and we don’t really get to know her. But I did see the point the author was making this was a story about a mysterious town. I say read this story because it’s a little twisted and if you have a dry or dark sense of humor it’s perfect.

Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King is the first book in the new series Welcome to Knollville. Jeff is a police officer and he is seeing a pattern in some cases that he is working on.
This is a spooky at times but definitely intriguing book. There is a paranormal thriller that I didn’t want to put down. I was intrigued by the moment I started and wanted to find out Truly’s story. “Truly Unfortunate” is the first book in the Welcome to Knollville series by C.A King. C.A King’s newest fascinating character is Truly. She doesn’t remember anything from her childhood and works three jobs just to pay for her crappy apartment and the therapy she needs. Strange events start to occur in her small town of Knollville and Knoll County’s most skeptical police officer, Jeff, is on the case. I was so excited when this book got released since I am a HUGE fan of C.A King and her Portal Prophecies series. C.A King has an incredible talent of creating these other worlds and interesting characters that I wish I could visit. Every book I have read, and there have been several now, are wildly imaginative and unpredictable in every sense. C.A King is one of those authors whose brain I wish I could peer into and see how she sees life. Her imagination and creativity never cease to amaze me. I am so excited for more of this series to come out so I can continue to love them, as I know I will. Five obvious stars from me! Truly Unfortunate ( Welcome to Knollville Book 1) by C. A. King. This was such a good book. Its not my normal genre but I really enjoyed it. Truly is a damaged young lady who can’t remember her past since the age of 9. Her childhood was very traumatizing and sad. Her mom didn’t love her and she never had a real father so she was pretty much on her own. As an adult life was just as hard, working 3 jobs to try to make rent and also paying for therapy. Jeff has always wanted to be a detective. He was saddened by a classmates death at the age of 9 so he vowed he would do what he could to help others. When Truly and Jeff’s worlds collide thru a series of unfortunate accidents the fact that they share a lot more in common will emerge. This is a super fast read and leaves you with great questions. Truly Unfortunate is book one in the Welcome to Knollville series by C.A. King. I have not read a story by this author, and it took me by surprise. I did not anticipate the high quality of the story, the depth to each character, the complex and intriguing way the characters joined

Truly was a character I instantly felt bonded with. There was no getting to know you stage, I instantly felt attuned to her. She enthralled me. I just had to know her story. The author has this maddeningly clever way of giving a clue of what may happen next, without really telling you anything. It was genius. Truly was an interesting and determined main character of this novel. She worked three jobs just to make ends meet and was unable to recall her childhood. I was fascinated with her time spent at her doctor’s office attempting to regain those memories. I hated the amount of suffering she dealt with as a child. It broke my heart. I was intrigued with Jeff’s character as he worked to find the correlation of accidents happening and Truly’s past. I did not expect what happened at the end. Great novel!

Truly has no memory of her childhood. Life is pretty bad for her now, so what could her brain possibly consider so bad that her memories refuse to come forward? Jeff is a detective who is seeing deeply disturbing patterns in deaths and will stop at nothing to find the connections between them. Each of them will need to decide which is the lesser of two evils.
This paranormal thriller kept me on the edge of my seat and up at night. I absolutely agree with the warning that is for mature audiences but that could be because I have a pretty over active imagination especially in the worst case scenario department.
C.A. King is a fantastic writer and if you enjoy this book, you should read The Portal Prophecies and The Four Horseman series.

This book left me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Truly Unfortunate is the first book in the Welcome to Knollville series by C.A. King. Truly doesn’t quite remember certain things from her childhood. Her doctor’s say that she might be repressing her memories. But she doesn’t understand why and when people start dying she gets so confused. In comes Jeff…Jeff is the county’s sheriff. However, when things start to go down he has no choice but to investigate and work the puzzle that is happening in that town. The story starts to become interesting and twisted. It is also pretty dark and pretty raw. This book is considered a paranormal thriller. There are so many twists and turns that you have to continue to read in order to find out what happens. I love murder/psychological mysteries and this definitely did not disappoint. I loved the characters and the way that the author sucks you in and doesn’t allow you to leave. It had a way of thinking that Truly must be as crazy as she thinks she is. This book is definitely a page turner so be prepared to not put this book down until you are finished! You become a part of this storyline because it feels so real! I cannot wait for the next book in the series! I definitely need to find out what happens next! Definitely a home run for this author! Truly Unfortunate (Welcome To Knollville Book 1) by C.A. King – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Truly Unfortunate (Welcome To Knollville Book 1)Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truly Unfortunate is the first book in C.A. King’s Welcome to Knollville series. I have read and enjoyed a number of C.A. King’s books in the past, including her Portal Prophecies and Four Horsemen series, so knew I could expect enchanting world-building and strong, interestingly complicated characters and a thoroughly enjoyable story!
Truly Unfortunate tells the story of Truly, a young woman struggling to remember her tragic past (TW – mentions of abuse although there are no graphic descriptions). As the story progresses, she remembers more about her childhood and we begin to wonder how it might be linked to a series of unusual deaths happening in the present.
Truly is truly (haha) a great character. She is working several jobs to afford medical treatment and rent, working hard to overcome her trauma and amnesia. She is also kind and considerate to her friends, good at solving problems and willing to stand up for herself.
The supporting characters include Jeff and Miranda, the detectives trying to make sense of the series of seemingly accidental deaths. They’re clever and determined, and able to joke about the ridiculous situations they find themselves in! And there’s Stan, the bus driver, a character who will feel familiar to anyone who frequents public transport. I also particularly liked Maria, Truly’s colleague and friend who lightens the otherwise quite dark tone.
Truly Unfortunate is quite a dark book, with a wonderful and gripping story. For me it’s a five star read – I struggled to put it down! I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery with a touch of magic.

Truly Unfortunate (Welcome To Knollville Book 1)Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truly Unfortunate written by C.A. King. This is definitely not my first book by C.A. King and it won’t be my last each book has a unique spin and twist that you love and hate as the story goes. Truly Unfortunate is no different, as the story progresses you think you have it figured out, you for your own case and motive and then boom something else happens and you have to rethink everything. Then the end comes and you realize you were right and wrong the entire time but you can’t wait to see if there is another book and how it goes.
