The story Truly Unfortunate (Welcome To Knollville Book 1) by C.A. King is a dark fantasy/paranormal book. It is a story that I loved reading. It had me hooked from the very beginning and I found myself reading it all in one sitting. I just had to know how it ended. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Truly and Jeff. Truly is a woman who can’t seem to recall the memories of her childhood. With some help, she has begun a process to hopefully change this. What will Truly remember if those memories come back? Jeff is a detective who has seen situations from the past mirror the present. What will he find when he looks for a connection? Read this book to find out. This is a spooky story that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The storyline had me turning pages. It has intriguing and interesting characters. Investigating with Jeff is like trying to solve a puzzle. It had me adding up the clues to find the answer. This is an amazing story that is wonderfully written and has memorable characters. It is a story that I would highly recommend reading.

I can always count on this author to give me stories that have me glued to my kindle as soon as I start them, and the best part is I keep coming back for more and I don’t even read most of the genres her books are from. I choose these books simply because her name is on them, because she is an amazing story teller.
The journey that Caitlin and her friends went on in this book was just plain awesome, and I loved her aunt. The whole story was written in a way that had me almost believing everything in it and that’s why I keep coming back LOL I did have to keep reminding myself how old these characters were because at times they seemed younger than what they were but that didn’t make me love the story any less.
I highly recommend this book and actually anything this author writes.

I know, I know… It clearly said “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL HALLOWEEN” but I couldn’t help it, I HAD to read it as soon as it hit my Kindle. This is one or my favorite authors who writes such spectacular stories that I couldn’t resist.
I have something in common with a character in this story. You see, I’m a “flamboyant introvert” (I also explain it as an extroverted introvert) and had to make sure that the story portrayed said character in a grand manner. (She was portrayed perfectly.)
Did you know that “Darkness can never hurt you as long as you have hope in your heart for a bright sky ahead.”? You will learn that and more when you read this incredible story. It’s a story of magic and friendship and stories, ohh the stories.
I recommend this beautifully written story to everyone from my young cousins and my elderly mother’s book club alike.

When Caitlin was young, she used to love the stories of fairies and otherworldly things her aunt made up. Now, at 18, she loves her aunt but thinks she is quite eccentric. But when her aunt asks Caitlin to watch her house and her two cats, she agrees. Then the senior she has a crush on asked her to a party for that same weekend. She decides to make the best of it and invites the boys and her friends to hang out at her aunt’s house. Little does she know what she is really in for. When reality and the magical world collide, she has decisions to make. Who are her friends and who are enemies? Will they be able to fix the mess they made?
While I have read this author before and always loved the books, she has amazed me yet again. This story was fantastic. It is fun and adventurous and pulled me into her world of wonderful fantasy. The characters are interesting each one is different. I thoroughly enjoyed this different and wonderful book and would love to see more of this world in the future. My favorite characters were Aunt Petunia and her cats!
I highly recommend this book to older middle grade and older. I have been an adult for a long time and it was fantastic!

The story Do Not Open Until Halloween by C.A. King is a YA fantasy book that I loved reading. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished that last page. It is a book that will have you believing in magic and magical creatures. I enjoyed reading about the character of Caitlin. Caitlin is a girl that is good and kind of heart. She has a choice to make when she promises to watch her aunt’s home and is asked out by Justin, a boy that she likes. The way in which she decides to handle both situations has her now scrambling to deal with a fairy that was not invited. Caitlin must find her belief in magic if she is to save the fairy. Read this book to find out about the adventure that Caitlin finds herself on and how it all turns out. This story is one that will keep you turning pages to find out what happens next. The story is humorous at times and I found myself with a smile on my face. Find out if the question of where fairies come from is answered. This is a wonderfully written story that I would recommend reading.

This is a Young Adult book that I loved and read in one sitting. This is a story about witches, fairies, spells and really just finding something within yourself you didn’t know was there. If you have ever wondered where fairies come from this is the book for you! This group of characters will take you on a journey of believing in magic. Find out what happens to Caitlin and her friends when they spend some time in her aunt’s house. I highly recommend this book!

King and it’s not the first book that I have read by this author. Her writing is unique and realistic that I couldn’t put this book down that I read it in one sitting. This story is a paranormal thriller with a great mix of ancient myth and contemporary life with a chunk of humor, some fast-paced action and throw in some romance. Gabrielle, receives little credit for protecting mankind. The vast insecurities of men altered history itself, portraying her as a masculine brute. Taking a back seat to her brothers seemed the right thing to do, but left a bitter taste in her mouth and an impenetrable barricade shielding her heart. When Ryder’s parents were killed he bounced around the system. Between that and run-ins with the law for crimes he never committed, it seemed the whole world was conspiring against him. Never growing attached to anyone was rule number one: a rule he’d never broken until a white-haired vixen, with blocks of ice on her shoulders, walked right into his life. Melting through those frosty layers became all that mattered, even if that meant sacrificing himself in the process. Can Ryder overcome Gabrielle’s securities or will she stay cold? The second book in the A Four Horsemen series, by C.A. King, is Drawing Strength from Words. The author has a truly creative imagination and that comes through beautifully in the stories shared. Gabrielle, another of the horsemen, is paired with Ryder as the main characters within this second part of the series. These are dynamically unique characters that somehow work together when least expected. I found the combination both intense and refreshing. C.A. King continues to know how to keep readers fully engaged throughout the story and sitting on the edge waiting to see what is waiting just around the next corner. Beyond brilliant!!

“I wanted to create a world other people could escape to. I wanted to share the place that had helped me for many years.” C. A King You definitely succeeded! I just want to firstly say, how amazing and imaginative the world C. A King created is. Volume 1 of the Portal Prophecies series, is the first 3 books in C.A King’s epic series that follows Willow and her friends as they attempt to save our world and every other realm in between. Without spoiling books 2 and 3, the first focuses on Willow and her journey of self-discovery, after realizing that her small slice of life is a speck of dust in a much larger universe. After uncovering a secret temple hidden in the woods, and finding a large tome of prophecies that predict the end of life as she knows it. Overall I loved the series and the magic system that was woven throughout the novels. The only irk I had, was that Willow seemed to be all powerful without many weaknesses, besides her friends and being somewhat vulnerable to a certain enemy’s charms. I still really loved all the individual characters and all their unique powers. I’m super jealous of Nathan’s powers; oh man, if I had that ability, I’d be unstoppable. I also loved the way the characters interacted with each other, and how much of a family they were to one another. It honestly warmed my heart. As well as when Willow was introduced to such mundane things. It reminded me of Starfire from Teen Titans, and how curious she is about our world and all the magic it contains. This series is perfect for fans of X-men, or Teen Titans, as well as Avatar: The Last Airbender. As it’s a perfect blend of light-hearted moments, and serious sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat-and-chewing-your-nails-off moments. As well as fantastic characters and imaginative world building. Absolutely loved it! 5/5 stars

Drawing Strength From Words: A Four Horsemen Novel by C. A. King is a five star novel. I fell in love with this author when I read a different series of hers. I am so thankful I decided to pick up this series next! This is book two in the Four Horsemen series. I think it is imperative to read the first novel before reading this one because it gives so much more to the story than what we get just from this one. These novels are so action packed and information rich that I was able to read in one sitting. This is saying s lot for me because I do read slowly even though I love to read. We are first introduced to the Four Horsemen in the first book, Flower Shields, and find out they are siblings, and not all male. This book brings focus to Gabby and what she can bring to the table to defeat the devils that appear. I highly recommend this book.

Drawing Strength from Words is the second book in the Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have read all of Ms. Kings books now, and this series has quickly become my firm favourite of hers. That is really saying something, because I have seriously loved all her books- but there is just something about this series, and this book in particular, which has really captured my imagination. The story drew me in and I lost all sense of time and my surroundings, as the story swept me up on a fantastic adventure. I was so lost in the story, and so when the end came, I really wasn’t ready to leave- I wanted to keep reading. This is one of those few occasions where the writing is so on point, the storyline is so captivating, the characters are so believable and likeable, that you can’t help but wish the story was much longer, so you could stay in that world with them for a few more hours. I am excited that there is another book(s) coming This series is Ms. King’s take and twist on the four horsemen myth and what she has produced is a very creative and imaginative urban fantasy that has demigods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, action, drama, a little romance, and supernatural elements. Gabrielle is one of the 4 horsemen, who along with her brothers has been tasked with guarding the gates to hell. As the only female among the horsemen she feels the need to constantly prove herself. Especially when most people assume that she would be a male to do that job. Gabrielle really isn’t a people person, preferring her books instead. But, on a foray out into the world, she is drawn to a man who needs her help to evade some demons who are hell bent on capturing him. There is something about him that intrigues her like no one else has ever before. But, with evil stalking him and danger an ever-present threat- she will need all her wits and skills in order to figure it all out and keep them safe. Ryder has had a pretty hard life and has the worst luck ever. We meet him as he’s being sentenced for a crime that he didn’t commit- and finds himself having to do a year of community service at the Ancient History Library. But strange things have been happening, and he soon finds himself in a situation that he finds hard to comprehend. Out of the blue, a gorgeous woman sweeps in just in the nick of time. But the danger is far from over, and it’s no longer just his life on the line. With sinister plots and evil intent, will Ryder survive, or will the evil forces out for his blood win out in the end? Fantastic reading!!! Can’t wait for ‘Hitting the High Note”, which is Uriel’s story- the next book in this series!!

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King is the second book in her Four Horsemen series. Finally, it is here! I read the first story and I could not wait for the second one! It is a remarkable paranormal series where it seems that it somehow becomes better with each book (like wine …). If you love mythology then absolutely this series is for you – I am sure you have heard the legend of the four horsemen before and let me tell you, the writer has put an interesting spin on it! Drawing Strength from Words is the story of Gabrielle and Ryder. Gabrielle is the second horseman and surprise surprise the second horseman really is … a woman! And what a woman she is – independent, powerful, resourceful, confident … and oh so lovable! Ryder, he is a perfect match for her – he is as closed as her but there is bond there and it keeps growing and … yeah, the writer is taking us on one heck of a ride, no pun intended. It is a beautiful story that mixes the ancient myth and contemporary life and love … what else do you need? Cannot wait for the third story, I wonder what that horseman will tell us …

I have loved C. A. King’s The Portal Prophecies series and it’s wonderful to now have the first half of the series collected together in one volume. It provides a great introduction to the series, and a chance to see the story and Willow, the protagonist, develop over a longer stretch of time. Of the three books included in this volume, A Keeper’s Destiny is my favourite and actually is one of my favourite books that I read last year. It introduces the incredibly well-developed fantasy setting (which continues to expand throughout the series with lots of new, well-connected settings to explore) and gets Willow off on her adventure. A Halloween’s Curse and Frost Bitten are particularly suited to be in a volume together as they both have a holiday theme to them. Mostly, this works quite well but there are moments (particularly in Frost Bitten) where it gets a bit ridiculous! Both books work well as a continuation of the story, but I would say they’d be best enjoyed in the autumn and winter when you’re in the holiday mood. Reading in the summer was a bit weird! These are really great books, and it’s very handy having the three combined in one volume (particularly as books 4-6 are going to be released in a single volume as well). For me this definitely deserves 5 stars! It’s an enjoyable Young Adult Fantasy series with a strong female lead and an interesting cast of supporting characters, set in a detailed and awesome world. A Halloween’s Curse also has elements of Urban Fantasy which works quite well. I would definitely recommend this to any fans of YA Fantasy looking for a new series to get sucked into, and think it would be a particularly good collection to read around Halloween and Christmas when the books are set.

The Portal Prophecies Series by C.A King is a Y.A fantasy/paranormal adventure that is full of action, magic, self-discovery and drama. The author tells tales full of mystical wonder; the book incorporates her re-imagining of many of our myths, legends, tall-tales and unexplained phenomena- which is incredibly original and clever.

Willow is an orphan who has grown up in a magical place, not knowing what really happened to her parents, and doesn’t really understand the world she lives in. Everyone in her world has ‘abilities’, powers that they gained as they matured. Most people gain their powers/magical ability by the time they reach their sixteenth cycle. No one ever really knew what their ability would be, some abilities were incredibly useful or entertaining; while others were pretty much useless. Willow hasn’t got hers yet, she really hopes when she does, that they would make her special or would help better her position within the society. When her world comes under threat, Willow and a group of her friends set out on a quest to save all of existence. She discovers more than she could ever have imagined; not just about herself, but about her world and that of all existence. We learn along with her of the ancients, the guardians, the portals, the different realms, an evil king, a whole lot of different races and beings- and all the predictions contained in a book called The Portal Prophecies that can help them in their quest. The prophecies are the key to their success and survival; which they will need to decipher before it’s too late. Each book has its own prophecy to figure out, which results in a new and exciting adventure. This story is quite fast paced, very detailed and descriptive- with a very complex and multi-layered plot. A lot was going on, especially in book one, where to begin with I had a little trouble ‘getting into the story’ because there was so much to keep track of while the foundations to the book and series were laid out. But after a while, I settled into the story more and began to really enjoy it. I liked the characters and enjoyed watching them develop and grow in confidence as the story progressed. I did like seeing that Willow grew a lot throughout the series. She really was on a journey of discovery- not just about the quest and prophecies, but about herself and her own strengths and limitations. She also has an increase in her confidence, as her powers and abilities manifest and increase- she also discovers that she is capable of so much more than she ever imagined. All the characters were really well thought out, beautifully crafted, and are unique and memorable. If you enjoy young adult fantasy, action and adventure- with quirky characters that you can’t help but root for, love real value for money (3 books in one purchase price), and a captivating storyline….. then you really should grab this book and dive in, you’ll be entertained for hours!

The Portal Prophecies Volume I by C.A King is action packed, emotional, intense and the stakes are high. C.A. has written a unique story that is full of magic and friends but there is also danger lurking in the shadows. Just who can trust who? I enjoyed the different characters and watched them grow as they trek through each adventure. The books in this series should be read in order to put the whole story in perspective.

Flower Shields is the first book in the Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have read all of Ms. Kings books now, and this one is among my favourites of hers. I loved the premise of the story and enjoyed reading Ms. King’s take and twist on the four horsemen myth. This is a very creative and individual urban fantasy that has gods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, action, drama, and supernatural elements. The characters are superb- fully developed, interesting and likeable- who grew and developed as the story progressed, Tara most of all. This is a very imaginative, unique and well written story. The author has a very dynamic style, with detailed descriptions and rich, vibrant scene setting. Through her words we are transported into the story and experience it along with the characters. Ms. King has produced an entirely captivating read. I wasn’t sure whether I’d enjoy it as much as some of her other books, but I am happy to say that Ms. King definitely didn’t disappoint, and I loved how she crafted the story and brought all the various elements together, weaving them into a story that held my attention from beginning to end. I really liked this story am very intrigued by the promise it holds for the rest of the series. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Bring on Book two!

Flower Shields by C.A. King is the first book in the Four Horsemen series. This story follows Michael and Tara. Michael is one of the guardians of the gates of hell. When Tara is brought into his life everything changes for him. Tara is important to him and his guardianship of the gates and is in extreme danger. The only problem is that Tara does not know about any of this and how she fits into the equation. Michael is great. He is used to being a warrior and only lets the other Horsemen into his life. Tara is a free spirit and is not sure in what her direction to take her life. All she knows is that she loves flowers and being around them. Tara is lovable and realistic. Many of us do not know what we want to do with our lives and how to fit the things we love into it. She is trusting and a bit naive. This lends itself to the story and her being able to get herself into some trouble but also keep herself protected at times. Michael is a typical warrior. He keeps everything close to himself and has a hard time letting outsiders into his world. On top of this, how is someone like Tara expected to understand him? This was an enjoyable read and I almost read straight through to the end in one sitting. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The only downside is that the ending was left really open but I know that this is because there is more to come. I look forward to learning more about Gabby, Uriel, and Raphael in the future.

The Portal Prophecies: A Keeper’s Destiny by C. A. King
A portal, a prophecy, and a love story makes up this YA book. The pages keep turning as you are figuring out the adventure that lies before you. C. A. King keeps your attention because just when you think you figure out what is going there is a twist and a turn.
If you like Harry Potter, then you will love Willow. She is a young lady who has been in the dark about the outside world. She is coming of age and now she is realizing that there are magical powers all around her. She is part of something bigger and she is just now learning that the stories she has been hearing are real. She is learning about the voices she hears in her head and why she needed to keep them a secret. She has bigger things coming and she will accomplish them all with the help of her friends.
C. A. King is an amazing author. She keeps you hooked. The characters are always evolving. She has you fall in love with Willow. C. A. really gets you involved with the characters. It is hard to put the story down. I can’t wait to see how Willow evolves in the series

Finding Balance is the sixth and last book to The Portal Prophecies written by C.A. King and a wonderful ending to this fantastic series. Just like the other books in this series it does not disappoint. There are plenty of twists and turns, plots, death and survival. This is certainly not a standalone book and you must read every book before to understand this world and the wonderful characters that C.A. has woven.
We find everything coming to a head with the usual suspects Willow and her sidekicks. The final battle is coming and Willow must do everything to stop Cornelius and Cornost. Two evil men who want to conquer the worlds and destroy everything and everyone in their paths. Will must awaken the last of the ancient trees before it’s too late and everything and everyone she holds dear is destroyed. Whilst Willow is racing against time to do everything she can we see the other characters coming to grips with the evil that left them ensnared with no memory of what happened to them and their friends. Along the way Willow finds out exactly who she is and who is on her side and who is not. She also finds out the meaning of love and that true love means selfless sacrifice even though it breaks her heart.
Will Willow find a way to reconcile with long lost friends and family? Will they be taken away before she gets a chance to see them? Will the final battle mean the loss of loved ones? Will Willow loose the one person she loves with all her heart? Will friends be foes and will foes be friends. Can Willow ever overcome the loss she has had to endure?
All in all, this is series for any age and I would recommend it to one and all. I look forward to reading all the books I can from C.A. as she weaves worlds and realms that take you away and yet you feel like you are in it with them every step of the way.

The Portal Prophecies: Sleeping Sands by C.A. King is the fourth book in the series. These are not standalone books but need to be read in order. The story continues almost seamlessly from one book to the next. Willow and her friends are still together for a short time. The group is being separated to go to different schools across the main world. They are apprehensive because they do not know what changes this will bring to them and helping Willow solve the prophecies. Willow is having a hard struggle because as her powers are developing and becoming stronger she needs to reign them in to hide them from everyone. She does not know from all these new people who is her friend or enemy. I enjoyed this book as I have the others in the series. King takes the time to develop the story and characters. It is interesting where Willow’s challenges will take her and her friends and what will happen with Cornelius going mad. The change in story from a seasonal theme to school was cool also. I am excited to read the next book in the series and where Willow and her powers will go next. These books are great for older tweens and adults as well. I enjoy stories that bring in fantasy, sci-fi, magic, etc. and have a good story and characters to go together as well. The characters are interesting, strong, and have to remember the value of friendship and strength in numbers to solve the prophecies. Review by @sherimichelle1

The Portal Prophecies: Frost Bitten is written by C.A. King. This is the third book in the series. These books are best read in order because I do not see them as standalone or out of order type of books. The story picks up where book two left off in the adventures of Willow and her friends. This time Willow and gang are up for a new challenge and learning more about themselves. The call has come and they are needing to help. This story is a Christmas/Winter theme. I enjoy how each new story is a new challenge and process for Willow and her gang. Also, that each story has a different season or theme involved. Everyone is turning against Willow and her friends. Can they help Lance and survive King Cornelius’ wrath all at once? As their world and experiences are expanding so are their obligations and chances for conflict. I enjoyed this story and am getting pulled in deeper to the world that C.A. King has created for Willow and all the different characters. Willow is fun, strong, and adventurous. She has grown since the first book and so have her friends. They are learning quickly but are also challenged at every turn. I enjoy that they have some tough decisions and must weigh the consequences of their actions. This is not a series for people who want a simple, boring story. Each book takes the reader on a different adventure. I am glad that there are more books in this series and look forward to reading them.

This is the fourth installment of The Portal Prophecies, Deadly Perceptions. Each book has revealed a little more to the mysteries that surround Willow and her friends and foes and the truly enchanting world she lives in. Through the many trials and tribulations she has had to endure we see Willow becoming stronger and surer of herself in a way that she never has before. C.A has shown that she has a unique knack for writing multiple story lines, whilst at the same time managing to keep you on your toes every step of the way. You are so wrapped up in the story that before you know it, it has come to an end.
At the end of book three we see Willow separated from her friends and those closest to her. Book four picks right up and we see a young girl becoming a young woman whose growth both personal and magical is amazing everyone. Willow is still in the world of the elves and discovers that you can not judge a book by it’s cover. Somethings so beautiful could mean death. Some things lost may become found. Some things thought myths maybe real. Foes could be friends and friends could be foes. It seems that King Cornelius is still up to his tricks but has upped the anti and he is not the only evil threatening to destroy and rule the worlds.
Whilst Willow is stuck on the world of elves we discover, through the help of her friends left behind that there is more behind the goings on and that Willow is and has always been smack bang in the centre of things, time after time. Will Willow be able to finish her journey? Will she discover things once thought lost? Will she be able to find the helps she needs? Will a right choice be the wrong choice?
There are many interesting twists and turns in this fast paced gripping story that has you spellbound. It is one jammed packed fantasy and folklore abound book that you will not want the story to end. I am hanging for the next installment.

He wakes up realizing he is laying on dirt. Where is he? Why is he here? Who is he? As memories flood his mind he thinks he remembers better times, but everything is hazy. He tries to leave the small shed he wakes up in and realizes he is trapped by something too tight around his neck, as he cries out he is all of a sudden hit by something, many times, it’s raining, he is soaked and wet and in pain. He hears a name, Ralph, yes this must be his name. What is going on, he hears voices but it seems they can’t hear him, what crime has he committed that has him deserving to be a prisoner like this. Hungry and in pain, it’s getting worse and his flashbacks have him wondering if they are just dreams. If he had a family wouldn’t they be saving him or looking for him?
This is a heart wrenching story, making me feel all kinds of emotions during it and at the end. Written in a way that will stay with me forever when I come across certain situations especially. This is my first book by this author and it has definitely left me wondering about her other work. This was written very well and I can’t wait to check out everything else she has written. With William still on death’s door Willow finds herself torn between having to leave for school and staying by his side. After packing and getting ready the gang all meet for final goodbyes before they go their separate ways to different schools, where they will have no contact with anyone. Just before they are ready to go a visitor turns up with unexpected news. They are all shocked at the news that Cassandrhea Tibbins brings. She tells them how the family who run The Empowered, a newspaper, are continuing to run more and more stories about Willow and painting her in a bad light. How they know some of the things they know, shows there may be a spy somewhere and because of that Cassabdrhea has made the choice that Willow must be hidden from everyone to ensure her safety.
If Willow thought she was lonely before going to the school, she finds herself even more so once she is there. Being unable to show her true self, due to the people after her, the pressure, the fear and the isolation are taking it’s toll. Willow is not only trying to survive the pressures of school and without friends, but she trying to fight to stay alive. Willow finds that old friends are now enemies and evil won’t stop till they find her. Willow is learning more about herself and her magic and surprises them all but is she revealing to much too soon?
Can Willow find the strength and courage to carry on? Will Willow put her friends before herself to survive? Will truths be revealed before it is too late? Will lost friends be found? Will the evil that is after her find a new way to break her soul? Will Willow find allies in the most unlikely places? Just how many more enemies are there waiting to destroy her?
Sleeping Sands is the fourth book of the Portal Prophecies series and I must say that the writing gets better with each book. I feel so much for the main character that I could not put it down until I knew the outcome. I must say they way the book ended has me eager to start the next book as soon as possible. I know that if you love magic you will Love this book.

Now that Willow and her friends have survived Halloween they find themselves under the watchful eyes of others with magical powers and creatures. Something is happening in the world but they are just not sure what and they don’t know who they can trust anymore. Everywhere they turn it seems that everyone seems to be against them. Whilst having to deal with the hostility they are on a new mission to aid Lance in recovering someone close to him, his sister, Sissy. As they find each new portal another world opens up with problems and new discoveries. Creatures that are more than they first seem, Guardians long lost, A missing Santa that threatens Christmas and friends that could be enemies. Can Willow and her friends find Santa and save Christmas? Will they find the magic of Christmas? The possibility of losing one of their own has Willow feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders and she is starting to feel more alone than ever. The ever present prophecies leave more questions than answers. Adults who think they know better than the young have many hidden agendas and challenges that seem relatively hard may be easier than meets the eye and vice versa.
Do Willow and her friends make more unlikely alliances or do they make more enemies? Can Willow escape and survive King Cornelius’ wrath? Will betrayal be found? Who can they trust? Will evil finally catch up with them? Can they survive in order to save others? Will the magical world pose a threat and leave more than one fighting for their lives?
Frost Bitten is the third book in the Portal Prophecies series. It is action packed, more emotional and intense and stakes are definitely higher. I enjoy the different characters as they trek through each adventure. Again as with the other books in this series I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading anything paranormal, supernatural and fantasy.

He wakes not remembering who he is or what happened to him. He finds himself in a nightmare he can not wake from. Day after day it only gets worse, he can not find any relief. He finds himself chained to a shed, if you can call it a shed, he is hungry, he is thirsty,he is hurt. Where is his family? Where is the people who love him? What is his name? Who has captured him? Why is he here? He didn’t think he was bad, was he? Can anyone hear him? Why won’t help come? Will help come? My memories are going, my sight is going, I think my mind is going.
As the title says this is definitely a story from a different point of view. When Leaves Fall is definitely a dark thriller with a twist you will not see coming in a million years. It is also very sad at the end. You will not find another story like this one. It is very cleverly written.

A Halloween’s Curse is the second book in the Portal Prophecies series by C.A. King and it has just as much, if not more, going for it as the first book. I adored the first book (A Keeper’s Destiny) and was supremely excited when I got the second one, half because I was so intrigued by the story and half because of the cliffhanger from the first book. The second one did not disappoint. We learn so much more about the magical creatures inhabiting the world and their extensive powers. There is potential for so much more and I am just as excited to read the third book. Willow and the others get many answers but just as many new questions about the prophecies and what it means for the world. One of my favorite parts of this book was the witch tour that takes place at the beginning. The tour group is taken to several places that are important historically or otherwise to witches and we are able to learn quite a bit about the magical community on Earth and how it has kept itself hidden from the terunji, or non magical population. A few new races of creatures are introduced and we learn just enough about what King Cornelius has planned for the world to worry what is coming next. With quite a bit of doom and gloom, I was very happy to see there were still bits of humor when everyday things had to be explained to Willow and her people. Willow’s reaction to the changing of the seasons was hilarious to me. All in all, this was a great sequel and I can’t wait to read the next one.

This book is the second in The Portal Prophecies series and picks up from where the first book left off. Once again we find Willow and her band of friends trying to decipher the prophecies. They are trying to learn what they know, what they need to know and where they should be with learning their strength and weaknesses. After one of their friends goes missing Willow and her best friends have learnt through one their powers just what one of the prophecies means. They discover that he is in danger and they need to go after him now. After trials and tribulation, lies and deceit they finally find Mike. After they return they learn more and more around them is not what it seems. They set about trying to help those that have been torn from their homes and worlds, those that have been misunderstood.
Halloween is fast approaching, prophecies are proving hard to decipher and friends are not what they seem. Willow is approached by a Witch who is also a Gypsy. She speaks words that make no sense and can only be a prophecy. This leads to a hunt to find out who this woman is and what she is trying to say. What they find only leads to more questions, more mystery and more unknown. They also find a betrayal that was in the works long before they arrived and yet leads them closer to danger. They evil, King Cornelius and his family are still searching and destroying world not realising that what they seek is closer than they realise.
As Halloween is no upon them they must race against time to save not only their friends but those who live with magic, come from different worlds, but they must save themselves. In doing so they discover an unlikely alliance.
Will they be able to get to their friends in time? Will they be able to stop the evil? Will they help one who is an enemy?
This story as with the first was filled with different worlds magic, adventure and different creatures and beings. Each character has their own story and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading anything paranormal, supernatural and fantasy.
