I love this book, every page has suspense and thrillers. When Raine the Shadow Guardian united with Will Decker the FBI Agent, I was like this is the next level of human and non-human romance. Raine shows the courage that a female needs to have to fight her demons. Will is the guy that the world needs to protect those who don’t have any clue about what is going on. Amazing job on the characters and the twist and plots love it. Can’t wait to get the #2 book.

This story was delightful! I was intrigued when I read “Ragnarok happened.” and I picked the story up to give it a whirl. I have been drawn to Norse Mythology lately, but finally decided to pick up a novel inspired by it and I’m so glad I took the chance. There is fantasy, adventure, MAGIC/PROPHECIES, and everything I enjoy with books. The author does a great job of integrating the Norse Gods and mythology into the book! They definitely made each realm/creature its own unique features!! I love meeting a character like Raine Thoren, who kicks some ass and doesn’t take crap from anyone! Reading strong female leads is something I love doing, especially when the character is written well. Throughout the majority of the book, we journey with Raine and experience what it is like to be one of the secret Guardians. How they protect Midgard from the aftereffects of Ragnarok, and what that truly entails. We get a lens of an outsider with the FBI agent Will Decker who is committed to getting the job right within the terms of the law. He is thrust into this world when the two of them cross paths and the connection between them is instant. I think there was more focus on how these two interacted than the whole Ragnarok, but it was still a riveting novel. I would’ve liked more with Ragnarok explained, but maybe that comes with the following novels.
One of my favorite quotes belongs in Chapter 23, there is a moment where things are explained to Raine about this Shadow War, and the words exchanged are definitely going to be used to inspire my students; and were great for me as well! This author should be on your list to read! I’m looking forward to her upcoming novels and can’t wait to see where prophecies take me!

Omg wow Raine Down the first book of the The Shadow Guardians Series was such a great read. Be prepared to finish it all at once. It’s the right mix between supernatural, mythology and don’t forget romance. Although I love all mythology I haven’t really read many books that have Norse Mythology in it and if they do it’s only a little. So I found this book really interesting had me going to find more books like it. Raine is a freaking badass. I think her and Will are perfect for each other. The Author CB Samet is one amazing story teller. I highly recommend reading this book. Also Is it February yet lol i can’t wait for Storm Surge.
Ps i lowkey wish i had her sister Skys power lol i would come in handy. And I can’t wait for her book.

Wow. This was a well written work of fiction. I enjoyed the Norse mythology touch. Most of what I know does come from the avengers but mythology has always been an interest of mine. This story was full of action, romance, and a bit of comedy. The easy banter between Raine and Will was magical before they realized their feelings for one another. Will had such an open mind from the moment they met. This story was such an easy to get lost into book. I highly recommend it.

This book has a unique twist on Greek Mythology and lovable characters which combined is just magic. It’s been a long time since there was a book which I honestly couldn’t put down, reading well into the early hours to finish. I was initially interested by the criminal investigation and inter-agency elements but was captured by the supernatural.
I loved both main characters, Will and Raine, and enjoyed experiencing their investigative journey and their relationship progression. But even how they evolved as individuals was portrayed very well and I was emotionally invested from the start.
There were time reading that I was unable to contain my joy, grinning like an idiot and others that I wanted to slap them both on the back of the head Agent Gibbs style in loving frustration.
I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be released and get immersed all over again. This quickly became one of my favourites and I’m so happy I chose this book. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.
I could rave about this book for hours, but don’t want to give anything away. If you like criminal investigation, paranormal and/or romances, I thoroughly recommend you read this book!

Sleep is over rated right?? At least that’s what I am telling myself after basically staying up pretty much all night, well until 4.30am, reading this incredible book because I just couldn’t put it down. I kept telling myself just a bit more then I’ll finish it tommorrow but the more I read the more hooked I became and I just couldn’t do it. This is the very first book by this amazing author that I have read and I can tell you right now it definitely won’t be my last! The descriptive text and the imagery it created in my mind truly goes to show what a talented writer the author truly is. I loved the characters Raine and Will….I mean who wouldn’t love such a total kick arse character as Raine…the chemistry or connection may be a better word between the two ( I am not sure exactly how to put it) and watching it develop is just one of so many elements that kept me reading. You absolutely 100% need to start this series now!

Raine Down is an urban fantasy inspired by Norse mythology. It follows Raine, who has some supernatural abilities, teaming up with FBI agent Will to help stop a ruthless serial killer. Neither of them are big fans of working with others, and they must learn to trust each other in spite of differences in perspective and approach.
Raine Down is an action-packed read with plenty of intrigue as Raine and Will share what they know and try to fill in the gaps. The characters are great, both with strong senses of morals and duty, and both definitely with a need for a life outside of work!
The fantasy side of things is well developed. There’s plenty that feels familiar to fans of Norse mythology (or Marvel fans, like Will) but also lots of interesting details. The supernatural characters are not overpowered and have to cope with the constraints and logistics of living in the human world.
This is a great start to the series, that will appeal to fans of monster-hunting urban fantasies. The second book is due out in February 2023, and I’m looking forward to reading it! It gets five stars from me.

This is book one in The Shadow Guardians series and wow what a start. I am completely hooked and I can’t wait to see where the author takes us with this series. This is an urban fantasy and I love how the author has mixed reality with fantasy creatures and supernatural beings. The story is full of Suspense and danger as well as the steamy chemistry between Raine and Will.
Raine is a Shadow Guardian. Her job is to protect humans from the supernatural beings that live and sometimes hunt around us. She lives in the shadows unseen by those around her. That is until a particular demon she is hunting lands her in front of FBI Agent Will Decker.
Will has been working on the case of a serial killer called Blade and when his path crosses Raine as he tries to capture the murderer there are loads of questions to be asked. That is if the attraction between them doesn’t get in the way of them getting to the answers.
Now Will and Raine are tasked to work together to capture this demon and stop him murdering innocent people. Can they work together as a team? Will their attraction between them mean they take their eye off the ball? And when things are what they seem can Raine show Will there is more to the human world that the average human can see?

I was so glad that I picked up this book by C. B. Samet. I can’t wait to read the other two books that go with Raine Down. The author put both action and love story all in one with this one. I like how the author pulled me into this story from the beginning. I hope the next book has the story of Will and Raine in it as well as the other characters so I can see where this story is going to go. I love the take this author has on Norse Mythology and how it is written. I will definitely be picking up the other stories by this author.

Well written book combining Urban Fantasy with Norse Mythology. The author wrote in such a way to make it easy for the reader to understand the Norse Mythology side. This really helped me connect with the characters and the world they live in. The story has action, new comrades who are getting to know each other, and danger. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

What a great beginning to a new urban fantasy series. This has all the elements I enjoy in a story. Romantic suspense, magic, ringing in the morse god and Ragnorak theme is a wonderful idea. Its fresh and the action in here kept me turning pages. The two characters are on a journey of self discovery as well as searching for the illusive bad guy. The evolution of these two main characters is as fun to read as watch and wonder what will happen next.
This is a first time author for me. The writing is smooth and the transitions help the story move along a rapid pace. I enjoyed reading this and look forward to more in this series.

What do you get when you mix a handsome FBI agent, a sexy as sin Valkyrie, steaming chemistry, murder, and action? That’s right, you get this first book in The Shadow Guardians Series by CB Samet. Oh and I didn’t even mention the Norse Mythology that is mixed into everyday life, mingling so well that you learn without getting pulled out of the story. As a fan of Mythology, I loved how it was written into the book in a way that was easy to understand. I also loved how this book just started right off with action pretty much from the get go, introducing us to the two main characters in the first couple of pages. Raine and Will are literally thrown together as partners soon after she mysteriously shows up and saves his life. Their undeniable attraction is there from the beginning, but they both have bigger things to worry about, namely the serial killer they are tracking. I can’t wait to find out what happens in book 2 as I’m now invested in this world and these characters.

In a post Ragnorok world where Midgard is the only realm of the original nine left, Raine Thoren is a Shadow Guardian that has the ability to fight demons and evil bloodlines. Her mission gets even more complicated when she runs into an FBI agent while trying to apprehend her biggest bad guy yet. FBI agent, Will Decker is a man who works better alone and has keen and sometimes eerie instincts. Everything he knows is put to question when a young woman saves his life and is then partnered with him shortly after. Will and Raine will need to trust each other in order to work together and their perpetrator is a cunning and otherworldly kind of evil. I loved this modern take on Norse mythology. The slow burn attraction was fire and oh so satisfying! It’s not a cliff hanger ending and yet I’m screaming for the next book already.

Raine Thoren is a Shadow Guardian, she is a member of a secret council who protect non-magical side of humanity from things that they don’t even know about and since Ragnarok happened and the necessity of the inhabitants left living to mingle with humans, causing a dilution of their bloodlines, but ensured their survival, this has been a necessity. Raine is good at her job, so when she comes up against her latest foe, she thinks she has everything planned out, but that is until an FBI agent throws a spanner into the works and lands himself right in the middle of it. Will Decker is an FBI agent through and through, he strictly follows the rules, both personally and professionally and he is also very good at his job, but he is tracking a serial killer and he has finally found him, however, things don’t go to plan.
As Will announces himself to the world, the killer turns on him, but he is quicker and stronger than anyone he had ever chased and when he realises this, this is when a woman leaps in front of him and saves his life, but is injured in the process and the killer gets away, but he helps this woman instead of chasing him. Raine is hurting badly from the attack, but decides to accept Will’s help, at least until she healed enough to go back to where she is staying and as they both report back to their superiors, they understand that they will have to work together to track and stop this killer.
As Raine opens up to Will about the killer and his supernatural powers and the supernatural community as a whole, he struggles to accept it, but he perseveres and as the investigation continues, he comes to realise that this fantasy is becoming his reality and it is a lot to take in, but Raine helps him and they work well together, but can they open up to each other and stop this killer, or will the victims be out of luck? This is a fantasy adventure, where a race against time is on to stop a serial killer in his path and with plenty of action throughout, you will be hooked in and eager to know how the story ends.

Samet – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.
Raine is a Shadow Guardian hunting a known killer, Jor, when FBI Agent Will Decker appears. To prevent Will from being hurt by the demonic serpent, Raine intervenes by shooting Jor and being stabbed in the forearm. Jor was not mortally wounded and escaped. Will takes Raine to an emergency room for the stab wound, but the wound is gone. Since she had lost a lot of blood and passed out, Will takes her to a safe house. While he is asleep, Raine sneaks out of the house to see her mentor, Usha Bakshi. Less than a week later, Raine and Will are paired together as partners on an interagency case pursuing Jor.
Raine starts telling Will about the supernatural and nine realms when she notices that all of Jor’s victims are Vanir. Raine is puzzled when Will accepts her explanation of how she was able to heal herself. To complicate matters, Raine has begun to have feelings for Will. A man who never commits to any relationship, Will is confused by his need to gain Raine’s affection. Both of them do not show their feelings. They are complete opposites in how they solve cases as well. Raine has no issue with killing her opponent, whereas Will prefers to apprehend criminals. Will has a secret that he doesn’t reveal until the duo encounters Jor and nearly both nearly lose their lives. What is he hiding? Why is Jor targeting Vanir’s descendants?
Raine Downe is the first book in the Shadow Guardian series by C.B Samet. I found the story to be engaging and despite some of the supernatural elements, the dialogue is realistically depicted. The detail of the story is vivid, making it easy to envision every moment of the story. I definitely recommend this fantasy romance novel to anyone who likes an unpredictable story with strong lead characters. I plan on reading the rest of the series.

Raine Down: An Urban Fantasy Adventure The Shadow Guardians Book 1 By: CB Samet Review By: Susan Ratchford 5 Stars
I cannot wait to grab on to Storm Surge, CB Samet’s second book in this series! This book, Raine Down, was so much fun to read and it got my heart pumping! I am completely hooked on Raine and Will’s story and the demons they have to face! Jor gives me the creeps! I absolutely love the use of Norse mythology (especially in the curses)! Samet has such a unique way of writing and detail I could actually feel myself getting pulled into her story. With phrases like “split skin like butter” which gave me actual chills to “ A watery moon” her writing paints a beautiful picture of an engaging and magical world! With plenty of action, tension, mystery, and romance you should definitely join me in exploring this series! Highly recommend it!

Raine is a shadow guardian. Her job is to protect humans from supernatural enemies. Norse Mythology isn’t a myth anymore. Ragnarok happened, causing the nine realms to collapse with only earth its survivor. Other races came to earth causing all kinds of different humans with powers. Raine is a descendant of Thor and she has healing abilities.
Raine’s latest target was supposed to be an easy hit when a FBI agent made the mission go sideways. She had a choice to eliminate her target or rescue the man. She chose the latter.
Will, the FBI agent, is grateful that this mysterious woman saved him but at what cost? She was bleeding like crazy but by the time he brought her to the hospital she was healed. Will was perplexed. He could not get this woman out of his head.
A little while later, the two agencies decide to collaborate causing Raine and Will to be unexpectant partners in this mission. They have to work together and put aside their differences. Will is by the book and Raine will do anything to complete her mission, even kill.
The chemistry is instant between them. There is quickly a sexual tension that neither one suspected. Which makes concentrating solely on the job ever more difficult when they can’t stop picturing the other in their arms.
I loved their relationship. They were very good for each other. Balancing each other out making them even stronger. Will mellowed Raine out while she taught him to broaden his horizons. I found myself wishing they would end up together.

This is a brilliant fantasy book steeped in Norse Mythology, taking concepts that are well known and putting a unique twist on them. From the first page this book grabbed my attention, pulling me in and not letting go until the end of the book. It was fast paced, action packed and really knew how to put on the intensity. The characters were great to read about two. I thought they were well matched and I found myself wanting to read more about them. This is a new author to me and I was really taken with how good this book was. It is one of the best mythology books I have read for a while and I will be exploring more of them work very soon.

This story is such a unique twist on Norse Mythology! Rather than there be one side trying to cause Ragnarok and the other prevent it, this tale begins after it has already happened. It presents Norse mythology in an all-inclusive way, encompassing all the detail. You don’t need to have any previous knowledge to enjoy the book! The author also works the mythology into the real world quite seamlessly! I didn’t know what to expect but I was very pleased. A good read for sure!

This was a good start for a first book. The end of the world has happened and there are many casualties. That happened a millennia ago. The reader is thrust upon an Earth where many bloodlines are blurred together. Raine is a shadow guardian to protect the non-magical humans. She is assigned to look for the latest killer, but this one is different than any she’s faced before. Its much more powerful then what she’s used to. When she saves Will she is assigned to help a killer. Is the killer one and same? And what of this prophecy that includes the both of them? So many questions and so many answers! I loved reading this book and cant wait for the next ones to come out!

Multi-realms paranormal with gripping storyline What a ride! Engaging from page one, this book has a bit of everything that YA Fantasy lovers would enjoy. The interwoven storyline of the Shadow Guardians with the FBI serial killer was a winner for me. I love mythology and multiple realms and this was woven in well too. With so much between the pages, this is such a strong start to the series. Raine (well her name is just brilliant – lol) and Will were well rounded characters that had a genuine chemistry – hot! Highly recommend and eagerly await book 2.

Very good read! I loved that the main characters, Raine and Will, were not only well developed but also relatable in a way that makes the reader laugh, cry and become involved with their story. This novel was a paranormal thriller of sorts, that had many twists and turns. The plot puts Will and Raine together to investigate paranormal crime. My only critique is there are a few threads of the story that seem to be left hanging. I hope that means we will see more in book 2. Overall a promising start!

This urban fantasy really has it all. When I first saw the beautiful cover I knew right away that I wanted to read this book, and I’m so glad I did it definitely did not disappoint. Full of new realms, murder, amazing characters and more this book had me on the edge of my seat. I have personally never read anything from this author but this novel blew me away. I was slightly disappointed in the ending and felt it was a little anti climatic, but overall I loved the book and will definitely be looking for more from this author.

So when I first saw the cover of this book, I immediately thought of the Shadowhunters series. Raine is a Shadow Guardian which helps saves humans from shadows that they don’t even know mean harm or exist. She ends up saving an FBI agent Will which leads to her helping him with his case. There is alot of mystery, adventure, romance, and drama. I’m excited to go to the next book! 🙂

This was a fabulous beginning to a fast paced, action packed, paranormal/supernatural series. We meet Raine an intelligent, strong willed, butt kicking heroine with supernatural powers. Then we have Will, a hard-working, open-minded FBI agent who has to learn how to work with a partner, while searching for a serial killer. I loved how the story started right in the action and kept the pacing throughout the whole narrative. I love mythology, and while my Norse Mythology isn’t as sharp, it was done in a way that even a lay person would enjoy it, especially if they, like Will, watch Marvel movies. From the moment they meet, Raine and Will’s chemistry is off the charts and it was a delight seeing them grow together, while still keeping the story moving at lightening pace as they work to stop a killer. I couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait for the next one!

The story really swept you away at the very part of the reading! I was pulled in with the plot, the characters, as well as the enchanting stories that come together and made this beautiful book!
Raine and Will were amazing characters. Both are different minded, but still strong separate, but even more stronger even when they were together. Both were compelling characters with strong characteristics! Loved the paranormal aspect of the story, the danger, the action, etc. Sometimes what haunts our nightmares or is looming in the shadows or the darkness is not that far from home, I loved how I read this book, I questioned things I take for granted every day with thoughts, The story was exciting and sensational! Loved it!
I loved this book so much! I am very much in anticipation for the next novel! The book was a must read for me, and I know for so others as well Highly recommend this enchanting book as well as the author!

“Ragnarok happened. Asgard and the nine realms fell. Millions were wiped out—Asgardians, Frost Giants, Dark Elves, Light Elves, Dwarves, Vanir. Those who survived hid on earth and bloodlines mingled,” Raine explained when the guacamole and chips arrived.
“A secret war was being waged, and both sides rarely took prisoners.”
Rain Down is the first book in The Shadow Guardians series by C.B. Samet. It is a engrossing, action-packed urban fantasy with a bit of a romantic suspense storyline. This story grabbed me right from the outset with the whole Shadow Guardian concept then add the serial killer/FBI component, mystery, suspense, danger, intrigue, crime and investigation, secrets, tension, prophecies, Norse mythology, agendas, chemistry, sizzle, magic, and plenty of adventure- made this story one I didn’t want to put down. This sets the series off to a fantastic start, and I am totally invested in reading the rest of the series as it releases. Raine and Will were really great characters to follow and get to know. Even if I wanted to shake them at times because they frustrated me with their internal dialogue, or lack of communication. Can’t wait for Storms Surge (Book #2) to release! Happy Reading!
