While I did enjoy the story of Raf and Elle I found myself a bit frustrated with how they danced around one another. Raf believes that he is cursed due to something that happened in his past. Elle is also the little sister of one of his best friends. Having grown up in a rough neighborhood and then pulling himself out of that area, Raf has not only made a decent living working on a boat, but he has also made a life for himself in Moon Harbor. When it finally comes time that Raf can’t hold in his feelings anymore his past comes back to haunt him. Someone is after Elle but she doesn’t know who it is or why. When Raf is framed for the murder of one of his former friends Elle is unsure whether or not to believe him. Why is someone trying to frame Raf for something he surely didn’t do? Is the murdered friend connected to the guy that has been following Elle? This book will keep you turning the pages just to see if Raf and Elle get their HEA and whether or not they catch the person who is behind the tragedy that occurred in what was once a safe town.

I started this series with book two, but this one was every bit as good. Emma is working in the family bakery but finds herself wanting some adventure. When one of the cases she is looking into turns serious she must decide what will happen with her family. How will she be able to keep them safe? This book is easy to read. I myself had a little difficulty getting used to the style of writing, but the story flowed well and of course the characters were great.

He goes against the judgment of the other masters when he turns her into one of them inevitably saving her life. All of them are pages turners and have their own unique storyline while simultaneously continuing the plot of the first book.

Descallia (Masters of the Consulate, #1)Descallia by Sylvia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first time I have come across or read anything by this author so she is new to me. I enjoyed the flow of the story and her style of writing. Luciana is a cop with psychic & telepathic abilities. She’s put on a case to fund out who is behind taking the women that have recently gone missing. She is put undercover to work in a club where she meets her new boss, Overmaster Salvatore Descallia. She is being shown around the building by another worker when some masked men come to rob the place. She nearly loses her life but is saved by Salvatore. He himself is also trying to find out who is pulling the strings and kidnapping all these women. It gets especially critical when the mate of a master is taken. While trying to figure out a strategy for finding the missing women these two start to develop an attraction that cannot be ignored. It’s hard for Salvatore at first because he had a mate that he lost hundreds of years before. He didn’t think he would come to love anyone again. There is ancient text in the vampire lore that speaks of a woman who will be the salvation of the vampire race. Luciana fits the description to a tee. Could Luciana be that woman? Could she also possibly be his mate reincarnated?

The Blood Prince by Ayla Marie – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

The Blood PrinceThe Blood Prince by Ayla Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

From reading the synopsis of this story I honestly thought I may be reading about a vampire, haha. The Blood Prince is written from Leo’s point of view. You get action within the first few pages of the story and the autor did a great job with the description of where everything was taking place. It made me feel like I was right there witnessing it all go down. Leo is a very sought after mercenary, but he also has a family to protect. On one of his missions he his target asks him to grant her a death wish which is to kill her children. Although he did grant death wishes from time to time this one made him stop to think whether or not he would grant it. His hesitancy is due to having younger siblings of his own. One of Leo’s younger brothers has the same ability as he does which isn’t a good thing. The man he works for has discovered this secret and now they must run for their lives. Will they find a safe place?

This series has been great from beginning to end. I’m sad to see the Titans of Manhattan go, but it had to end somewhere I guess. Scandalously Yours was a rollercoaster ride with all the emotions it brought into play. Kristopher Simon is soon to be back on the market as he and his wife are going through a divorce. On a medical retreat in the Bahamas he meets Alessia Johnston. She seems like a breath of fresh air compared to what he is currently going through with his soon to be ex wife. Alessia is focused on her career, but that all goes out the window after a steamy night with Kristopher. Will they be able to find their happily ever after or is their relationship doomed before it begins?

I’ve never read anything by this author before but I like the way she wrote and developed this story along with the characters.

If you haven’t read any of Emma’s adventures you may just be missing out. This book starts off with Emma and Jeremy having been in a train accident. They were on a case trying to get back some silver that had recently been stolen. Once those robbers were apprehended they headed back to Chicago to be put on a couple more cases. These characters are so interwoven yet independent which, for the time period these stories are set in, I find fascinating. Emma gets to be a strong female character and show off her amazing detective skills and logical thinking. The author has been doing a great job keeping her readers engaged. I look forward to starting the next book as soon as I find some time.

As a daughter to one of the New York families she has seen many things that her father is involved in and she doesn’t agree with what has been happening. Tale of a Body Thief (Rovena Silvex chronicles Book 1)Tale of a Body Thief by Kristy Centeno
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a well written first book and a new author to me. The synopsis is what initially got my attention and I was intrigued enough to want to read this story. It started off with action and I wondered what kind of demon hunter I was reading about. Of course being a fan of the long running TV show Supernatrual I had a few ideas in mind about how she would vanquish these beings, but it was nothing like that. The simple yet effective method the author put forth made me do a double take, haha. Normally Rovens’s duty is to kill a demon, but when she is sent to find out why a Marked was killed and who did it she accidentally brings the body back to life with a new soul. She doesn’t know exactly how it happened as she doesn’t quite know the full extent of her powers or why they only work sometimes. Instead of hunting demons and offing them she is now tasked with keeping one alive. Will she be able to gain the trust of her sworn enemy? Or will the enemy turn out to be her downfall?

This book kept me turning the pages! Evan Adler has recently medically retired from the NHL and recently became and athletic trainer for a women’s gymnastics team. His whole family has been involved in hockey on one form or another and he feels as though he let them all down. Callie Pearce knows a thing or two about hockey, but her heart lies in gymnastics. When she sees Evan running by with the hockey team one day she calls dibs and decides to take her shot. Will they find love and happiness together? I feel it was admirable of Eva though, even of he is a fictional character, to step away from what he loved for his mental health. It is a serious subject that doesn’t get as much attention as it should, but has been coming to light more often. The author did a great job and now I need to go find the rest of the books in the series.

I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I picked this book but I think I found myself a new favorite author. This was the perfect combination of suspense and romance. Detectives Foster and Hamilton are sent to retrieve an inmate and bring him back to Dallas to face justice. They had spent many months hunting the man down and he was hauled in for something minor. The inmate has plans for Ms. Foster and none of them pertain to having a nice chat over coffee. In the meantime these two detectives are fighting to maintain a professional relationship instead of giving in to the sexual tension that runs between them. After picking up their ward they are heading back to base when things take a wrong turn. The killer gets away and he is hell bent on getting his prize, Detective Foster. How will things play out between the detectives? Is there a happily ever after in their future or will she become the victim of a sadistic man?

I’m not a huge fan of historical romance type stories, but the synopsis of this one intrigued me. Isabel is set to be married to a man she has never met. When she learns who she intended to marry she can’t help but internally question her father’s choice. Surely he wouldn’t sacrifice her happiness by marrying her to the enemy? Will she find happiness with Sir William and be able to be a good wife? I have to say that I would not have been able to go through with an arranged marriage. Not knowing whether or not you’re compatible with your other half would be hard. This book was enjoyable and pulls you in from the start.
