Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail (Jake the Growling Dog Book 3) by Samantha Shannon. I loved this book and each book before in this series. Its a great series of books for kids age 6-11. Its the continuing story of Jake the dog and his friends. This story is about Jake’s favorite trail and how he encounters something different on the trail and is not sure of it. He even loses sleep over it so his friends come and stay with him to make him feel better. When they finally figure out what it is they realize its not scary and not something to make him lose sleep. This book tackles the world of disabilities and how everyone is not the same but that’s not a bad thing. The illustrations in this book are beautiful and will keep your child interested from cover to back. Beautiful book with a beautiful message!

Jake the Growling Dog: Shares his Trail by Samantha Shannon was a cute story with an important message. The illustrations by Lei Yang were beautiful and would hold any child’s attention. I enjoyed the story and the overall message
The characters were adorable and showed everyone can be scared. I wish the style was consistent. Because some lines rhymed, I kept trying and expecting that flow but it through me off while reading out loud. I appreciated the back of the book which had activities for children and help for parents to assist their children who may be easily scared. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would considering purchasing for other friends with younger kids.

Go Jake, Go! I picked up this story to read to my daycare kiddos, and they absolutely loved the artwork in the story. I have to admit, the children in my care are a little younger than those that would really take away the overall message in this Jake the Growling Dog story, but they did sit for the duration of the reading, and asked questions! I really enjoyed how the story came across, and how important inclusion is, and to teach it right from the get-go. The only thing I found was that the story was VERY long and I felt like the build-up had the girls sort of losing interest until we find the culprit. Overall, a wonderful read, and I would recommend it to any parents out there. Well done, Ms. Shannon!

Absolutely loved this book. My 7 and 3 year old were engrossed from the moment Jake’s adventures started. We really loved seeing how Jake worked through his feelings, this was a great moment I spent talking with my kids about their feelings at the same time. I particularly loved the end of the book and how we could talk about the different ways to combat our fears. Samantha Shannon did a fabulous job in this book!

“Be a friend to those you meet who might be different from you. You’ll find many things in common with new friends, pure and true!”

The illustrations are beautifully done and draw in the eye. The story is short and sweet and will draw you in, worried for Jake and the new found mysterious prints in the woods. The new friend he makes is a sweet representation that not all animals look a certain way, and same with any human friend you may meet. This book teaches us not to judge a book by its cover and it’s what is inside that counts the most, but that even though someone or something may have a disability of some sort in our eyes, it might be what makes them stronger.

This story was beautifully written and illustrated. It provides the rhymes and images to keep young ones involved. My niece especially enjoyed this story at bedtime. The lesson at the end to accept others who are different than yourself and to celebrate diversity with your friends was very touching. I also enjoyed the validation of feelings throughout the story and the feeling guide at the end. Quite a lovely read for any child.

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail by Samantha Shannon is quite a cute, feel-good children’s book, that is suitable for all ages- but particularly aimed at kids aged 5 to 11 years.
It’s a cute and sweet read with wonderful lessons to be learned. The story teaches sharing, facing your fears, talking about your worries, and promotes inclusivity. There were also some great activities, tips, and guides to help parents and teachers encourage and teach their children.
The illustrations are also very colourful and interesting. They really do bring Jake and the whole ‘story’ to life- as well as making it something that will capture a child’s attention and imagination.
Another great little story with a wonderful message. The other ‘Jake the Growling Dog’ books are really worth checking out as well!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Samantha Shannon!

This is a series that I have read from the beginning. It is a fun series about a dog, Jake and his adventures. They are fun stories that have great graphics that add to the story. This book is no different but I would highly suggest reading the previous books as well. In this book Jake and his favorite trail. But he has some worries about it and has trouble sleeping because of it. His friends come over and decide not to let him worry by himself. Will they be able to help him so that he can have fun on his favorite trail? I really enjoy the characters in this story. Jake’s best friend Neet is a great supporting character. This is just a fun story that is great for all ages of children. It is interactive and has a meaning behind it. I highly recommend this book.

This is a beautifully written story made for children. I read the story to my 6 year old son and he really enjoyed it as well. It’s a story of friendship and about facing things that scare you . With his friends joining him for company he’s looking for the cause of his fear and facing it head on. What they find is a new friend with a disability. It was beautiful how the author managed to get the point across that even though the dog with the disability looked different and that could be seen as scary in reality they were just like us.

The author writes  it in a way that is easy to understand  and follow by all ages and the rhyming makes the read enjoyable and easy for younger children.

It gave me chances to stop and talk to my daughter about the different feelings that Jake was dealing with. The artwork is beautiful throughout the story!! It was such a cute story and I definitely recommend reading it. For adults and children alike; we can all learn from Jake and his friends.

Kiddos will also have a blast finding all of their critter friends in a full-color find-and-seek page and learning about the kindness critters they spy on each page.
These activities are perfect for families, schools, and counselors to help bring families and friends closer together by encouraging sharing, healthy socio-emotional development and by encouraging awareness and inclusion of others whether they talk, dress, or learn differently or are a person with a disability.
A Positive Story to Promote Self-Confidence and Empathy
Jake’s story encourages children to meet new people and overcome worries and be kind to others who may be different from them. Knowing we live in a world where everyone is different, but we also have a lot in common, which will help create a kinder world, appreciate differences, and find connections. These topics are presented in subtle, sweet, and impactful ways for both young readers and the supportive adults in their lives.
Ages and Grades
While many kids in grades K-5 (ages 6-11) will be able to read this story independently or with assistance. Parents and grandparents will enjoy reading the story to baby, making it the perfect gift.

Mornin the Super Bird: Mornin Finds a Way to Stop Extinction is such a cute book and the illustrations are to die for. I was able to read this book to my granddaughter, who just fell in love with Mornin and the quest to stop extinction. I think it was a great way to show how all species and living beings can and should work together to save species from going extinct. Mornin is such a sweet character and really inspired my granddaughter to do better in her treatment of all living things. I am in love with this book and the author. It is so important that children learn to work together for a greater cause and this book provides the inspiration to do just that. What a great lesson to learn in such a cute and easy to understand way.

Great message and great illustrations

This book is a great gift for any of your littles! Your children, nephews, nieces, cousins, Etc! I like the message of trying to save the world! It all starts with a single thought and then taking the next step and making that thought turn into actions! The moment you demonstrate the action it can become the motivation others need to make sure “extinct” doesn’t happen! The illustrations for this book were beautifully crafted! The bright colors attract the attention of the young readers the book is trying to appeal to! The author also included a way for the readers to be involved with Mornin’s plan of action! When you finish the book, ask your little “ How would you do it, if you were Mornin?”

This was such a delightful book to read. Who hasn’t experienced these feelings? We all have, and children especially in today’s world are experiencing this. I really enjoyed the main character Jake and was able to connect with him. The story flowed easily and had me wanting to turn to the next page to find out what happens next. The rhyming and “fun” of the words also made you feel like cheering on Jake and supporting him as his friend did. This is a book that could and should be read to anyone who is feeling either stressed, or about to have a new experience. This book shows what a little Kindness and friendship can do. I give this book 5 stars.

If you know anything about me personally, I love paranormal themes, especially those coupled with magic, hope etc. I really thought this was a great read, not just for younger audiences but adults alike. It was sweet, fun, fast paced and it was unique. The characters, especially Grace, were wholesome and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more from this author for sure.

This is my first book by Eleanor Dixon. This isn’t the type of book I normally read and at first I wasn’t really sure about the whole book itself. Now after finishing the book I have decided that Eleanor Dixon can write anything and I’ll read it. This story was about a young girl who wanted to be a ballerina and had some personal issues to get over in order to make that happen and a little ghost that helped her. I definitely can’t wait to see if she writes another one. I love Lauren and I love Grace and this is such a great book I definitely recommend it.

The Graceful Ghost is a fun story. This would be age-appropriate for girls 9 or 10 years old. I think that they would love to learn about Grace. The plotline is cute and held my attention. It is a fast-paced story that can be read in one day. The characters make this story. Grace is a ghost who has been haunting a house for 200 years. The house has become a ballet school and Grace finds what she was longing to do. She wants to be a ballerina. She cannot leave the school because she is bound to the house. She wants to help someone with their dream so she can move freely like her friend Rodney. She finds a young girl to help but she really doesn’t want Grace’s help. Will Grace get through to her? Will Rodney be able to assist? I highly recommend this story to see how this bookends

4 out of 5 stars.

The Graceful Ghost by Eleanor Dixon is a charming, imaginative story for children, age 9 and above, who may be interested in ballet or the paranormal, though it is certainly not limited to those interests.
The story follows the narratives of two girls: Lauren, a fledgling, yet reluctant, ballerina who wins a scholarship to attend Amberwood, a prestigious dancing school, and Grace, the resident ghost, bound to the school grounds until she can help someone achieve their dreams. Despite having some tough competition amongst her classmates, Lauren’s biggest obstacle lies within. Will she, with the help of the Graceful Ghost, hold on to her spot at the school, or will she end up being sent home? Furthermore, will Grace’s plan to help Lauren along the way enable her to finally leave Amberwood?
This is a refreshing story for children and adults alike. At 141 pages in length, the story is evenly fast-paced, catches the reader’s attention, and holds on tight. It goes beyond being a typical ghost story and examines a variety of emotions and circumstances that any growing child will encounter. An excellent book to share with your child, and a book that a parent can trust their child with for independent reading. This reviewer highly recommends The Graceful Ghost by Eleanor Dixon.

I liked this story. It was a light hearted look into the life of a ghost who was on a mission to leave the school she was haunting and see the world. The journey Grace went on so that she could accomplish this was difficult and had some twists and turns. I had not really read a book that was told from the point of view of a ghost, so I found this book a refreshing change. Eleanor Dixon is a good author and I look forward to reading more from her.

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good paranormal story but she exceeded all my expectations. This could be read by Jr High students as well as adults. The characters will draw you in and you will not stop until you are finished with this book. There are a lot of good lessons in the storyline that most teenagers should learn. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

Grace has been bound to the ballet house for almost two hundred years. She has to figure out how to break her spell and she was told by one of her friends that she has to make a girl’s dream come true. When Grace sees a twelve year old Lauren she knows right away she is the one that will help her out. The problem is Grace doesn’t know how to make Lauren see her. Will Grace find her freedom or will she still be cursed to the Amberwood Hall for longer?

5 stars!

Nice short and sweet read perfect for young girls or any age really. I was sad for poor Lauren, she seemed to be at war with herself. She loves dance but feels she shouldn’t be doing it anymore as a punishment to herself. On one hand she is mad at her dad for leaving, on the other she thinks it’s her fault for his accident. She also seems older than her years for wrestling with her feelings of staying in the dance school or leaving but wanting to do what is best for her mom, not herself. The character of Grace is great in helping Lauren realize her dreams and helping achieve them by stopping the bullying that is going on from another dancer who is jealous of the attention Lauren is receiving. I really enjoyed watching the sweet friendship of Lauren and Katie grow and, seeing the bully of the school, Allison, finally come to realize that the way she had been acting was only hurting herself in the end. This book has such sweet moments and nice lessons to be learned.
