Amy’s Rebellion (Gemstone Massacre Book 1) by Julia Goldhirsh – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Amy's RebellionAmy’s Rebellion by Julia Goldhirsh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an exciting read for new adults with a mind for fantasy. Amy’s life started out with her first unwanted killing. But she had no choice in the matter. She leaves what was left and moved into the human world. But even that is unsafe for Amy. She must build her own army of trusted shifters to hopefully beat the evil headed her way. This story was very different for me. Don’t take me wrong. I enjoyed the story, it was just too many fantasy shifters for me. This is an author I had not read from before. That is why I chose this book. The characters were well liked and knew their place in the story. The book was well thought out, well written and easy to keep up with. If you enjoy fantasy stories this book is for you!

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) Audiobook by Liza Snow – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Can I start by saying? UNBELIEVABLE! That is the only word for this story. Cassandra is young but her life experiences make her sound so much older. The time has come, she wants to make her dreams come true. What a battle she is about to enter. Chandler is very talented and is  teaching students about silk aerialists for Cirque De Lys. While he did not want to be teaching, his father gave him no choice. Now that Cassandra shows promise Chandler is having second thoughts. Here you will find romance, suspense and some extremely hot scenes. No Spoilers in this review. The author who wrote this book is top notch! I found it hard to stop reading, as the story heated. Her wording builds a clear picture of all events in this story. Also I am pleased that I got the book in audible. I was able to sit back and listen, as I watched the story play in my mind. So worth every amount of time spent on this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this outstanding series.

Entanglement (The Echo Series Book 3) by C.R. Alam – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Unexpected Entanglement (Book 3 of the Echo Series)Unexpected Entanglement by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Contemporary Romance has it all. Even though Rowan and Chris tried to fight their emotions. Fake or not things still went from business to wholly hot. Rowan is strong and independent and even though she had a lot to accomplish with her sister’s wedding, she was determined to get it done. Chris on the other hand was not expecting to help out. So now that he got himself in hot water. How will he get himself out of the emotional rollercoaster he jumped into? Will Rowan see herself clear or will she too jump into the rollercoaster? This author left nothing out. Her writing is easy to follow and your emotions will be out of control. She really has a way with words. This story was right on, in the romance series. I can hardly wait to read more from this series. See where the author takes us next.

Breach of Trust (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 8 ) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Breach of Trust (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 8)Breach of Trust by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love a series that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This one did just that, I could not put it down. As a night reader, This one had it all. So worthy of a night without sleep. Besides the fact that 3 different scenarios were all happening at the same time. No worries though, this author is through and keeps things unconfusing. You have a cry for help, a nasty divorce and poison pen letters messing with the mix. Which one will be solved first? Will the divorce hit home for one of the PI’s? Can help come soon enough? This author has a great way of writing a story to keep her readers entertained. Her characters feel like people we would be friends with. Everyday people with everyday problems. Although these problems I would not like to deal with. I love this series and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Little Red, the Detective: a science folktale (Science Folktales)Little Red, the Detective: a science folktale by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As we all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. That may be true. Little Red is off to grannies house. No talking to strangers and “Please pick me some flowers for my tea.” This author did so much more with the story. She made it more about plant discovery and their uses. Which once again gets the children out of the house. There are all kinds of flowers within our neighborhoods. With Spring here new plants and flowers are blooming. What a great time to pick up this book and enjoy the adventure that this author has planned out for her readers. I must say this author has impressed me every time she plans out her stories. My grands have loved each of this author’s story. The projects that follow are amazingly fun as well.

God of Fire: Greek Myths A New Retelling Audiobook by Helen Steadman – Review by Cindy Mayberry

This was a nice travel audible story. Greek Mythology has retold many of these characters and yet I enjoyed this version. The humor as well as the tragic events, made this story enjoyable to listen to. My heart went out for Hephaestus. To have been thrown away because of his looks. If that was not enough Hera threw him from heaven, breaking his little body, from his landing in the sea. But Hephaestus is a fighter. Can he live through these events? Will the unwanted child find a family? This is a New author for me. I would never have picked this book, but it caught my interest. Not only that but it was audible, so I got to listen to the story. So in the end I did enjoy the story. If you like Greek Mythology you will Love this one.

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Gwen Carter has died twice and is down right tired of dying. With her new inheritance she finds herself back in the family home. Hoodoo Texas, a place that ran her off has brought her back. The black magic, ghosts and murder will keep Gwen on her toes as she tries to break the family curse. She is older now but can she prove her innocence and catch the true murderer? No spoilers here. However, this author is new to me and I love his writing skills. The audible version puts you into this story. The laughter and snarky-ness of the characters will bring you back for more. The story is fast paced and easy to follow. But make no mistake you will want to read more from this series. I am looking forward to reading more from this author as well as this series.

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy) Book 2 By Rowan Rossler Review by Cindy Mayberry

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Welcome to Sports Romance at its finest. This is book 2 but it can be read as a standalone. This is Chavez and Flynn’s story. Chavez is hot tempered and uncontrollable. His tennis skills could take him far. Flynn is a motivational speaker and coach. She is the exact opposite and seems to level Chavez out. When these two unlikely souls get together, there is as much action on the court as off the court. But both of them have their own secrets to get past. Will these two come together or will this pull them apart? This story took me by surprise. The author writes an amazing story leaving nothing out. The story is fast paced as well as well written. You can’t help falling in love with the characters. Even though it looks like they have nothing in common, they find out just where they lead each other. This turned out to be an exciting story to read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Chicken Little investigatesChicken Little investigates by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I’m sure we have all heard this story. We love the rhymes with the names of each character. But this author took this story so much further! She turned this rhyming story into a Science Investigation. WOW! She did a fantastic job with sounds, adventure and investigating. I could not wait for my grandchildren to hear this version of Chicken Little. We had so much fun dropping things as well as going for a walk to find some of the things the characters had found. What an adventure we had. This author has become one of my favorites, as she has fresh ideas and makes reading so much more fun for children as well as adults. Fantastic Story!

Jasmine Bucker does something she should not. But she does have a plan and nobody is going to stand in her way. Her father is sick and she promised she would help him financially.  But as luck would have it. Something very wrong had taken a turn for the worst. The phony cops have taken her money and she will do what it takes to get it back. That’s all I will tell you about the story, no spoilers for you. This author not only writes well, her stories are well worth reading. Her sense of humor plays a big part in this fast paced crime thriller. I love the interactions of the characters. The Silent Road by S.N. McKibben – Review by Cindy Mayberry

The Silent RoadThe Silent Road by S.N. McKibben
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story has it all. Romance, family life, fights, self awareness and a MM relationship. I love a good truckers story! This one however took me into a place I had not read too much about. Dan has had his world rocked, when an officer pulls him over. With no license he gets himself on a different road. But he will do whatever it takes to keep his promise to his daughter. Even drive with another driver until he can get his California drivers license. He is short of money for his daughter’s college and driving with another driver could get him what he needs. Jake is his probation rider, and a complete rule follower. No speeding, nothing to ruin his perfect driving record. He also is homosexual and Dan is not comfortable driving with him. So with no spoilers you will need to read this story. The author is new to me. Her writing is clear and fast paced. This story kept me reading and the characters are easy to fall for. And the relationship between these two men is quite informative. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Forlorn Cowboy by Stacy-Deanne (The Studs of Clear Creek County)The Forlorn Cowboy by Stacy-Deanne by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a historical western, something I don’t normally read. But this story caught my interest. I am happy I took the time to read this one. Christopher and Greta are both in love. Yet they don’t want anybody to know. They fight their feelings for as long as they can. Being in a interracial romance was looked poorly upon. Then add the age gap and the times well it’s a struggle for all. This author has written a story of two unlikely people coming together and fighting all odds. Both the main characters are protective as well as heroes in my book. The story is quick yet complete as well as a great addition to this series. I look forward to starting this series from the beginning to see where the author takes us. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Shadow (Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter Book 2) by D.M. Earl – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Shadow (Devil's Handmaidens MC-Book Two)Shadow by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There is nothing better than a story about Motorcycle Clubs. Well okay! How about Motorcycle Clubs run by women? Shadow is the enforcer in this club. She has no problem taking out those who come across her path. Shadow ( Zoey) lives with her past, making her who she is. She is strong and independent. She does however have her best friend who has shown her what family is all about in this MC. Her one goal is to take out those that harm others. No Problem! Pather has stepped into her life and shows her how to trust and love again. But it is not as easy as I make it sound! The author that wrote this standalone, as well as part of the series, has once again impressed me. The true to life events bring the story to the forefront of our minds. While this is only a story it makes you feel you are watching the story as it takes place. The characters are strong and independent. The story is fast paced and will keep you reading. The events in this story will bring all your emotions out. I was unable to put this one down. You can be sure I will be waiting for the next story in this series.

She is pretty low and struggling to get her life back on track. When her adult children convince her to go on a vacation at Shore Lodge. Vacation? Shore Lodge? Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3) by Debra Parmley – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3)Saving the Bellydancer by Debra Parmley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tony (Cutter) Cuttino is a Navy Seal. But his love of strippers keeps him looking for more. But not what we would think, he loves their strength and grace. He also loves his grandmother, someone he calls every week. Who keeps asking him about getting married. Who would love it if he were married with children. Not for Tony. Edith Smith, stage name Zarifah, loves belly dancing. But when her ex gets abusive and demands her to quit, she leaves him. Nobody will demand Edith to quit dancing or anything else for that matter. What a grand story. No Spoilers to be found here. A fresh new author has stepped into my library. This story is quick paced and action packed. The author touched on abuse and does so as to not offend others. Giving her characters the go on this subject. She made Edith stronger and Tony Loving, but more importantly she opened the eyes of the reader. I enjoyed reading this story and I am sure you will too.

Savage Start: A High School Bully Romance: Hidden Valley Elite PrequelSavage Start: A High School Bully Romance: Hidden Valley Elite Prequel by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a great start to an adult bully romance series. This is Riley and Cole’s beginning of the Enemies to Lovers series that you won’t want to miss out. Riley only knows the world of cons, her mother being the first example. Cole is his own coming to adult world and very opposite from Riley. Setting on both sides of the fence, these two meet and their worlds change. No spoilers to be found. This new to me author perked my interest. Her story is just getting started with these polar opposites. Their lives are just as we were at their age. And the romance is breathtaking as well. The story is not a stand alone and ends with you wanting so much more. I for one can not wait for the next in this series. Caution this is for adults, due to the contents. Enjoy fellow readers!

StoryTeller's Tale: Wretched Soulz MCStoryTeller’s Tale: Wretched Soulz MC by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again! New Motorcycle Club! New set of brothers and a new family. This is Story Teller and Sheri’s story. What a way to start this new series. StoryTeller is a NoMad, meaning he belongs but does not belong to the Wretched Soulz. He likes to be on his own, no rules, no games, no romance. Sheri is a loner, she is often just reading her books. MC’s have caught her interest. So when her favorite authors are in town, she sets out to meet them as well as buy their books. This is where everything goes wrong for Sheri. Only reading this story will answer your questions. This author is among my very favorites. I don’t even look to see what this book is about. I hear/see her name and I buy the book as well as the series. Her characters are fresh and headed in a different direction than the Satan’s Devil’s. Yet just as intriguing, suspenseful, the steamy parts are always breathtaking, because the bikers are hot. Truthful, honest and protection is what this series of bikers will bring you. I highly recommend this starter to another amazing MC series. Looking forward to book 2!

A story about patience for children. What a great story line. My grandchildren loved reading Half-Pint Porky’s story. She was so ready to start school, but when the big day came. Everything changed even though she was excited, she now has reservations about actually going. I love all of the pirate jargon, so fun for the kids, makes for a grand story to read as well. The author opened up the word Patiences. A word for all children to learn and accept. The story is quick and easy to follow. The illustrations were fun and opened the door for making eye patches. I love this story and look forward to reading more from this author.

Night Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Prequel) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Night Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation #0.5)Night Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a great start to the Hawke Family Second Generation. Isaac Hawke has finished college, so before he leaves. He takes the weekend to have a little fun. Jack is out for a night of uncontrolled fun as well. Her night goes deeper than one night, it goes for the whole weekend. She has to return home before the family hunts her down. Two people, two fake names, two opposite ideas come together as a weekend of absolute hotness. This is a second generation series. You can start this one without reading the first generation. To be honest, start with the first series. But… Read this prequel to see where you end up. I for one had already finished the first series. Second generation picks up where Night Hawke left off. This Author has written her books with readers in mind. Her books grab you at the very beginning and keep you there. The hotness of the characters is extremely steamy. Everyday college students are about to make it into the adult world. So I will give you no Spoilers…. This is a must read short story into a series of The Hawke family.

Well, well, well a ghost story with suspense. Elinor Chalamet a crime fighting medium. She is not only independent but plays a strong role in this case. While things seem to be quiet around her, life gets boring. Getting an invitation from the King Guenard, she chooses to visit the King and the great cook off. Taking her friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue with her on the adventure. But things change quite quickly. Murder and mayhem keep this story going with its twists and turns. This is a new author for me. But I am very pleased I gave her a chance. Her fantasy ghost story with its action and suspense held my interest and was fun to read. I am looking forward to what happens next for Elinor.

Selma Bryant who is also a Doctor has reappeared in Hunter’s life, but not for long. She has secretly loved Hunter, but now was not the right time. As she is leaving New Orleans and heading out with Doctors Abroad to Africa. What happens next? No Spoilers, I recommend you read this series. The author has once again sucked me in. This is a medical thriller with twists and turns that will keep you reading. I love that some of the characters from Chase Security appear in this series as well. Dominic Larussio is one bad underboss. He is known to be cruel and to make sure his family is safe. Being so ruthless he has more than he can handle when he meets the beautiful Emelia. She is off limits as she is the daughter of a rival crime family. Emelia is not only beautiful but she has got to be one of the strongest women I have read about in a long time. This story could be a standalone, but I feel you should read the series in order. The author of this book has written one of the most intense stories ever. The story is fast paced and non stop action. The characters are strong and independent for their mafia families. Many feelings will be brought out when you read this book. Be sure to have tissue, chocolate and something to drink as you will not be putting this on down until THE END.
