Rock Bottom (Satan’s Devils MC Book #7) Audiobook by Manda Mellett – Review by Cindy Mayberry

This story is about Rock and Becca. Rock has been outed by the Satan’s Devils. Out on his own he finds another MC to join. The only reason he was able to join was because he has information on Satan’s Devils. While there he discovers a young woman shackled to a post. His job is to feed her but don’t talk to her. Becca is in a marriage that is abusive and cruel. When her husband was sent to prison he handed her over to the Chaos Riders MC. Which were not to touch her but keep her alive. Both Rock and Becca are in what could be the end of them both. Will they get out alive? Could there be a romance in the making? The author of this series is one  of my favorites. Her books are well written and loaded with action. I have found myself at the edge of my seat listening to this story. I have read the book, but listening to it in audio is so much more intense. The narrator reading this story brings it to life. Go ahead and read this one. I recommend you start with book 1 to get to know the characters and the Satan’s Devils.

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Ashley is a quiet young student who just wants to finish high school and go to college. At home she is treated like Cinderella, by her step mother and 2 mean step sisters. She also works at the mortuary putting makeup on the dead.  Then there is Harry forced to go back and finish high school. He’s a bad boy rock star and all the girls are after him. This is it! No spoilers. This is one of those stories you need to read. The author has written this fast paced teenage high schoolers story. There are bullies, mean girls and a mean step family. What a great coming of age story for the teens. Adults will enjoy this too, I did. I’m looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer’s Eggs by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's EggsDinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer’s Eggs by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a 2 for one book, just flip it over for the next story. Spike ( an ankylosaurus) and Conifer (a tyrannosaurus) are friends and work well together. Sometimes they disagree but most of the time not. When a volcano in the distance is erupting what do you think happens next? In Book 2 there is a fire and Conifer has got to save her eggs. Spike comes to help her and they make a plan to get to safety. Where do you think they go? I will not give out spoilers! I have been following this author and her children’s books. They all have something new for the children to learn. The illustrations are just as interesting as the story itself. I recommend this book to teachers and children alike.

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 1)Jake by Toni Denise
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jake has money, that’s true. But he wants to be loved for him, not his money.
Lauren has a thing about people with money, she is not rich but she is comfortable.
When their friend suggests a blind date. Little did Lauren and Jake know they were being set up. Well that’s all you get from me on this story. The writer is new to me. But I can tell you her story is well written and keeps you reading. Her concept for the blind date app is a great angle, and leaves her story open to add on. I fell in love with her main characters, and look forward to the next book in the series.

Chasing Hope Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Max Logan was a Marine. After losing so much he returns home, but PTSD recurs in his dreams. Therefore he has given up on having a family. Skyler Ward and her young daughter have moved in next door. Maddie hears all and tells all. She is not afraid to approach Max and starts with her questions. But will she stop there? Will Max let Skyler and Maddie befriend him? Will there be a HEA? This author has written this steamy and fast paced story. Her characters are easy to fall in love with. Maddie may be 7, but she is a typical kid with questions to be asked. While this is a romance story, I think it goes deeper with having PTSD in the story. Second chance is just that second chance at love, second chance at making a better life for all involved. I must say this author has pulled out all the stops in this story. I was hooked before chapter one ended.

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark #2)Hard Lover by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Noah and Callie have just one thing keeping them from each other. Callies brother, who is also Noah’s best friend. Callie’s brother has taken care of her since their parents went to prison. So yes he is just one of her protectors. With every secret comes trouble, that too will try to keep Noah and Callie apart. So, will they get a HEA or will this suspenseful romance leave them broken-hearted?
This story has so much going on that I read it in one setting. I could not put it down. It is well written and intriguing. This author, while new to me, has worked her way into my must read list. The characters are believable in their thoughts as well as life going on around them. So I must go get and read the other books in this series. Even Though you could read this as a standalone. I hope you enjoy this story as I have…

Stand Your Ground Audiobook by A.J. Ullman – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Cady Fox goes out to dinner with the head attorneys where she works. Afterwards she does her regular activity of riding her bike home. But tonight she is attacked by a man known for his unlawful activities. Forcing her to shoot and kill him. That’s all you get from me. No Spoilers. This author writes clearly and is very descriptive in his definition of how his book reads. This is a thrilling Audio book loaded with action and so easy to get caught up in. The characters are just right for their part in the story. They are also likable. While this story throws out many things that are going on in our lives today, Black Lives Matter and White Privilege just to name a couple. He sticks to his main goal. Tell the story and make it clear. I enjoyed listening to this story and how it played out. I know you will too.

While one is looking for the unaware husband, the other is rogue and watching her from afar. What happens next? Well read on for I give no spoilers. Something different for this author. I have read many of her books but none compare to this one. This story has so much more steam and hot moments. I could not help falling for the characters in this story. Two completely different worlds, coming together can stir up quite a story. Bring on book 2!

Peg’s Stand (Satan’s Devils MC #6) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Cindy Mayberry

First off I wish I could give this series and the author more than 5 stars. This is Peg and Darcy’s story. Peg has respect for those around him. To me he is hard as nails yet kind hearted. Basically don’t make him mad. Darcy is a firefighter who has earned her right to be in the firehouse and work beside her fellow firefighters. She too is hard as nails and extremely kind hearted. That’s where the story takes off. I will not give you any spoilers. You just have to read it to believe it. This author has quite the imagination, that’s what makes her stories so easy to read. When this author’s name comes up I don’t even see what the story is about, as I know I will be reading or listening to it soon. The characters are easy to fall in love with and the story is fast paced. Be prepared to bring those emotions with you. You will need them.

I think this is one more addition to my list of favorites. The story is fast paced, high energy and down right suspenseful. I loved it! This is Nico and Mia’s story. Both from different Mafias, both mafias are enemies. So who is jumping ship, who is seeking help and will this be a good idea? So many questions, so intense and so worth reading. Be prepared to open all emotions and once you read page one you will not be able to put this book down. This author continues to surprise me. Her books are well written and loaded with excitement. The characters are likable and the women are always strong and independent. Mia is no different, she has to make choices that most women would never even try. This is a fantastic series, I recommend you start at the first book and follow along. Get to know the characters as well as the author. Or you can start with book 7, you will be pleased either way.

The Girl Who EscapedThe Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story takes off on page one. The girls are out enjoying the evening when they are kidnapped. Angie is the designated driver, and the other girls are about to pass out. Angie being on her guard knew something was up. But she did not expect what would happen. Or the outcome she is faced with. Her only hope is VSRT Agent Brenda Reynolds and retired Marine Jake and his K-9 companion Cody. I am sure you have read stories with Jake and Cody. Anyway, the girl is in trouble and too scared to speak of the incident. This author once again did not disappoint. His story is fast paced and will have you on the edge of your seat. The writing is clear and bone chilling. The characters are likable and your heart will go out for Angie. This is a must read suspenseful story you can’t miss out on. Notebook Mysteries ~ Emma (Notebook Mysteries Book 1) Audio Book by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Cindy Mayberry

This was a great travel audible book. Emma, age 16, works in the family bakery and holds her own when things get rough. Now, even though she has been trained, she has no experience. But that does not stop her from getting involved. She has a habit of writing things down that seem out of place. Actually that’s clever for someone her age. This was a high energy suspenseful story. Questions asked, and questions answered is what you will find throughout this story. The author has quite the imagination and her story keeps everyone entertained. This is a great story for teens and young readers alike. This is a historical novel, which generally I don’t read, but this one drew my interest. I’m happy I took the chance, and look forward to reading the others in this series.

Even though there are years between them, could they possibly build friendship and more? This story is quite the rollercoaster of emotions. Sometimes it’s good to dive into a new author’s story. This was the perfect time for me. It held my 3 favorite things, Suspense, Romance and a well written story. Bella Orstwell is mixed up in some Russian Mafia Drama. She needs a place to disappear, what better than a ranch, playing as a nanny. Levi and his triplet brothers have come back to the ranch to care for the place and their half sister, who is much younger then the men of Creekside Ranch. That is all I am going to spill on this book! Oh and let’s not forget the author. She has a twist to telling her story. It is fast paced and keeps you wanting more. Thank goodness there is more to this series. As I am waiting! I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. Read on fellow readers!

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book SeriesDark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Here’s to the beginning and end of the Dark Sparrow. Zoe Somersby has taken her job to the limit. Her specialty is translating many languages, under cover. But she does not let on, so she can hear what is needed. To keep her boss safe. Be his ears during his business dealings. Learning everything could come to a halt. Archer Blackwood is the CEO of his own company, extremely good looking but he is cold and ruthless. Loaded with money Archer is in control of everything. He has hired Zoe, the one and only woman that has gotten under his skin. This story was filled with all kinds of angst and twists. Her characters will make you fall in love with them, well some of them anyway. Others will just keep you wondering when they will get to meet Karma.
I am sad to see this series end. I’m excited that the book in the story is the oldest of the King brothers. Lazarus’s one goal in life is to protect his family. From his own father! I could not believe this man, the one to take care of his wife and children. Instead he made them pay for being in his selfish way. This story got me so twisted. There was the father, the brothers and their families. All trying to find their part in this story. Lazarus must put an end to his family’s nightmare. Meanwhile his heart is beginning to open, while not the best time to. Lazarus might have found his soulmate, but can he protect one more person in his life? This was a fantastic series. Each one is better than the one before. There were so many suspenseful roller coaster rides. I was thrown into the depths of so many emotions. I recommend you read this series in order, even though they can be read as a standalone? I feel it’s a must to get familiar with the whole family. As the end pulls the series to a close. No spoilers will be found. This story was filled with all kinds of angst and twists. Her characters will make you fall in love with them, well some of them anyway. Others will just keep you wondering when they will get to meet Karma.

Oliver: A Story about AdoptionOliver: A Story about Adoption by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a grand story for children of all ages. Children who are adopted as well as those not. This story shows Oliver’s train of thought when he was angry. Not at the tree he climbed, but at the parents who care for him. Sometimes books explain things better than the adults who love us. This is one of those. The author really looked at adoption from a child’s eyes. The story is well written as well as the illustrations that help tell the story. This is a must have in your library and on your child’s shelf of books. This author has many help books that open the eyes of our children. She is definitely a must have in my library. The Mermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace (Mermaid Science) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Mermaid and the Ice Cube NecklaceMermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE a book that children can learn from. This Science adventure does just that. The story line, as well as the activities set the stage for good wet fun. Maia is picnicking with Fig, down by the lake. When along swims Trezzie the mermaid. Trezzie loves the sparkle of the ice cubes. So Maia and Fig put a hole in the cube and string it into a necklace, for Trezzie. Feelings are hurt and leg cramps are active, as these girls work together. This author wrote what I call an open ended book. Meaning it’s more than just a story. So get out those ice cubes and have some good wet reading fun. I recommend this story to parents, children and teachers. This was a nice summer story as well, picnic, playing at the lake, and crafting all in a day’s fun adventure.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Why can’t I give more than 5 stars? This is Dwarf and Raven’s beginning. What a beginning it was. Raven is running blind and scared. Dwarf is headed home at night, tired and as something runs into the street he lays his bike down. That is all you get from me. This is a must read! If You have followed Satan’s Devils, then you know this author. I know you will not be disappointed. She has once again sucked me into her story, before the first chapter is complete. I have never been this scared reading a book before. This one kept me at the edge of my seat, hair raising and I even jumped when my phone rang. While this is a new set of bikers, the characters are just as loveable. At one point I did laugh so hard I had to stop reading to get control of my emotions. Once again I declare this my favorite book to date from this author. Can’t wait to see where this author takes her Wicked Warriors. I am sure there are many more adventures awaiting to be written/read. Well Done! Great read too!

What a fun story to read to the children. Aidan and Sophia are at the library when the stinky aliens arrive. While the other children run to find a safe place to hide. Sophia and Aidan stay to help Mrs. Booker, the librarian. Lets not forget the hot dog sludge in the cafeteria. This is a nice opening to visiting the library. It also introduces Sci Fi adventures to the children. This book opens the door to many exciting adventures. The story is fast paced and easy to read. The pictures are fun to look at and tell the story as well. This author has a great view of what children like to read. I hope you take a chance with this author and her fun adventures.
