This story is full of action and took me on a magical journey with creative characters. I loved the characters, Wren is my favorite. She has a mind of her own, determination and strong. A great read about thinking things through. Wren survived the ordeals of the first novel and is trying to resume her normal life. When her and Callidus are on the trail of a Gifted ice cream maker, they are attacked by mysterious men in black. However, the ice cream maker Thom joins them and is a fast friend. As war looms and tensions rise, Guild members start mysteriously disappearing., including Thom. Can Wren and her friends solve the mystery and find Thom before war threatens them all? a great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. I loved the character development of people such as Calliidus, as a kind and caring man underneath it all or Hale not just being a reckless fool which was brilliantly written. Also the King returns as a spinechilling force to be reckoned with. I loved the use of tension throughout the novel, as conflicts arose for Wren in a fantasy world with its own laws and society and politics. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel and the vivid sense of colour in the blues of the lake and the greens of the islands, and also sun and sand in Hales account of his home later on. Or the wedding scenes with colourful bright and detailed dresses against the dark of the black carriages and Black Guards. which contrasted perfectly. a great example of building upon a fantasy world in a sequel with the Celestans and their cultures and traditional wedding dresses. Or the Apricans with their Viking like nature and their sea faring ways to explore more to this world outside Maradis. I also loved the use of maps at the start which was a lovely touch and gave a clear location to the reader. Overall, a great read and I would give five stars.

The Confectioner’s Coup is the second book in The Confectioner Chronicles by Claire Luana. This book/series is an exceptionally good fantasy story, intricately woven with action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense, humour, fun, heartache, tension, conflict, hostile enemies, disappearances, investigations, and a sprinkle of romance. I adore Ms. Luana’s books, and this series is no exception- so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and continue the story. To say I had high expectations would be an understatement, but I just knew Ms. Luana wouldn’t let me down- and she definitely didn’t. The story is multi-faceted and incredibly detailed, with wonderful descriptions and masterful world-building bringing the whole story to life right before my eyes. The characters are so beautifully crafted- fully realised individuals who continue to develop and grow over the course of the story. Once again Ms. Luana proves her mastery of language and storytelling, bringing another fascinating and spellbinding story into ‘being’! I was so captivated by this wonderful story, that I read it all in one sitting- completely enthralled from beginning to end. All I can say is WOW! Bring on Book #3!

This was the continued story of Wren and I loved it as much as the first part of this series. She just can’t win when it comes to staying out of the line of fire with being framed for murder and getting out of that to now suspecting the king of being behind guild members being kidnapped and now the enemy has entered the city.
There was some parts of this story that made me so angry and then parts that were so so sad. You don’t really ever know what your gonna get when you open up one of this authors books and I love that.
Can’t wait for the next story in this series, I have so many questions about Hale and what his future holds as well as Wren and the Guild itself.
I Love this series and I love this author and I highly recommend starting at the beginning and reading these books and let me also mention that the covers on these books are completely awesome!!

The story The Confectioner’s Coup (Confectioner Chronicles Book 2) by Claire Luana is a fantasy book. It one that has action, danger, romance, and mystery. I found myself turning pages trying to find out what was going to happen next. It is the next exciting book in a wonderful series. Wren has found herself with a bit of time on her hands. She is someone who has always been busy and it is an unusual feeling. Wren has survived being falsely framed for murder. Now situations occur that have her and others in harm’s way. There is a hostile army outside the gates. Will they take over the city? Members of the Guilds begin to disappear. Wren suspects who is behind the disappearances. Her investigation will have her facing old and new enemies. Will Wren find the truth behind the disappearances? Will she find the missing Guild members? How much danger is the city really in? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed reading about Wren and the relationship that she has with her boyfriend. This book has a bit more romance than the last one. This was a book that was a more emotional ride for me. I have grown to love many of the characters since reading the first book and now with this one I was not only rooting for them to succeed in whatever actions they take but also for them to find happiness in their lives. There are moments of suspense that had me having to tell myself to breathe. I love how the story has plenty of detail and I felt like I was right there with the characters. There are some twists and turns that I did not see coming. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting down. Highly recommended.
I love this series! The plot is easy flowing and engaging. It pulls me in right from the beginning, sitting on the edge of your seat suspense. The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana is the first book in the Confectioner Chronicles series. I have to say I loved the prequel and this book is written just as well. The writing style of this author is quite enjoyable. The series is aimed at the YA readers but can be enjoyed by us adults as well. The author has made the characters in this book quite enjoyable and its was a pleasure to have read this book and I do look forward for more instalments. In this book we have mystery, magic and cooking. Not your normal mixture in a book but it works well. So, grab yourself a copy of the book and have an enjoyable time in getting to know not only the characters but the authors wonderful way of telling a story.

I’ve read the author’s Moonburner series which I really enjoyed. After reading this prequel, it looks like she has another winning series. I’m excited to read the rest. This story is about Hale Firena’s life before he joined the Confectioners Guild. He is a rich spoiled brat of a high ranking government official until there was a coup d’état. Now Hale, along with his mother and brother, are political refugees running for their lives. There are plenty of obstacles and challenges on their journey out of the country. Hale needs to learn that things will not be handed to him on a silver platter anymore and his ego gets taken down a few notches. Though he lives through some devastating experiences, luck is on his side.
To be honest, Hale annoyed me through the first half of the book. He was spoiled rotten and I didn’t like his attitude. Once he dropped his pretentions, I definitely warmed up to him. The good thing is that the action starts almost at the beginning and continues throughout the whole book. Towards the end, I was biting my nails with the excitement and danger. This was a fun adventurous read worthy to be a part of this series.

Let me start by saying what an absolutely beautiful cover this book has and although that was one reason I was drawn to it, it was actually the authors name that had me knowing I had to read it.
This is my 3rd book by this author and I don’t even know what words to use to explain how I appreciate the world building, character forming, and extreme attention to detail this author puts into her stories. I don’t even read fantasy type storylines but Miss Luana’s are so so amazing that I can’t help but savor every single word.
“This is all to say that sometimes, what feels like nothing is really something. You may have more cards in your hand than you realize. You need only play them when the time is right.”
This one was so unique and the added suspense and mystery had me hooked from page 1 and the last 25% of the book I was on the edge of my seat wondering how in the world she was going to make this all work…Brilliant is just one of the words that come to mind. So many things happen in this story that I’m not even going to try to sum it up..you have to read this and I can not wait for more of this series, I will be one of the first in line to read more!!

The Confectioner’s Exile by Claire Luana Four Stars
In this prequel we learn about Hale. We see how he grew up and what made him become such a loyal man. I really liked this story. The imagination put into it to make it come to life. To dream up a world that is of something so powerful and serial. The author gives us background for what we read in The Confectioners Guild. The adventures are well thought out and detailed. The author didn’t miss a beat while creating this story. I like to experience different emotions while reading a book. But I mostly want to feel excitement and sadness. I sat sadness because I usually don’t want the story to end.
The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana is the first book in The Confectioner Chronicles series. This book is full of mystery, magic, and cooking. Wren is an amazing cook and soon finds herself in the Confectioner’s Guild. Here she learns more about herself and that she has special magical powers. After the death of the head of the guild after eating her cupcake she learns more about not only herself but this guild that she has been brought into. The characters are well written and the story drew me in from the beginning. Not only is Wren a great character but there are also many others. The cupcake on the cover might have made me curious but I am so glad I gave this book a go. I look forward to reading more in this series.
The Confectioner’s Exile is a prequel novella in The Confectioner Chronicles, by Claire Luana. I have not read any of the other books in this series, but I have read other series by Luana. Once again, she did not disappoint. The story follows Hale, a spoiled rich boy, who has life handed to him and has never worked a day in his life. He spends his time gambling and chasing girls. That is until one night when he goes from the top of the chain, to the bottom. An instant fugitive on the run with his life on the line. The characters are wonderfully crafted, with backgrounds and relationships that are fun to read about. There are different emotions felt, creating a good balance. There are moments of carefree fun, but also some serious chapters, filled with regret, loss and motivation. I highly enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what she has in store for Hale and his future in the Confectioner’s Guild.

The Confectioner’s Exile by Claire Luana is a prequel novella to The Confectioner Chronicles. This is the backstory of Hale Firena and his life. He has always had everything he could possibly want but his life changes drastically. He must learn how to survive without relying on others. I really enjoyed this prequel and read it before I read book 1. The writing is great and the action was also good. After reading this novella I was even more excited to read the series. This is a YA series but teens and adults can enjoy this series.
The Confectioners Guild by Claire Luana is book 1 in the Confectioners Series. I recently read the prequel to this book and really enjoyed it, so I decided to dive into the series. Much Like the prequel I enjoy this authors writing style and character development. This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I couldnt put it down. I read this and the prequel in the same day. I really loved the story and the characters in this book, and cannot wait to see what the author does next with this series or anything else she writes. Great start to a great series. I give this book 5 stars easily.
The Confectioners Exile by Claire Luana is a prequel to the Confectioners Guild series, in general I’m not a big fan of prequels, but I was able to read this before I started the series. I really enjoyed the foundation laid for the main character. It was an easy read and the book flowed really well. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I really enjoyed the writing style, story line and characters. I will be reading book one in this series today also. I really enjoyed the writing and will continue to read books not only in this series but also anything else this author does! Great read and a solid 5 stars!!!
The Confectioners Guild is the first book in Claire Luana’s delicious new young adult series. I always knew cupcakes and confectionery were magical, and this book had me craving them till the very end. A succulent story of murder and mystery rolled into one scrumptious, bite sized book. Wren always poured her heart into her baked goods, under the watchful eye of her Master. Until one day she is whisked away to the Guild Master, only to be told that she has a unique set of gifts. She has the ability to manipulate a person’s good luck, with a single bite of her baked goodies. With a power like that, she must stay at the Guild and keep her gift a secret. But her sweet moment quickly turns sour, when the Guild Master dies from her poisoned cupcake. Framed for the murder, Wren has to unravel the mystery before her, and learn how to control her gift; before she’s trialled and beheaded. I really Love Claire Luana’s writing. She weaves fantastical stories, that have you hooked from the very first line. I loved the book and think it is an excellent start to her new series. The characters were delightful, and well developed. Her descriptions of the desserts had my mouth watering and my sweet tooth aching. As well as, the stunning cover art; the more I look at it, the more things I find in it. 5/5 Stars!

I felt that the characters needed a little more developing but the plot is interesting and keeps you entertained as this mystery unfolds.

The Confectioner’s Exile: The Confectioner Chronicles Prequel Novella (The Confectioner Chronicles 0.5) by Claire Luana is a quick and easy read. I found it hard in the beginning to get into the story, it was a bit slow but once it got going I found it is a complex tale and with the twists and turns and adventures I found myself more intrigued. This short story is about Hale and how one night changed his life forever. He was a little obnoxious at first but we watch him grow and come in to himself. This is one for YA’s.
The Confectioner’s Exile (The Confectioner Chronicles, #0) by Claire Luana was a fast pace, heart pounding read, that had me hooked from start to finish.
Not my first read by this author or in this series. This book takes place before The Confectioner Guild, but no worries there are no spoilers. It’s one of those books that you can read before the first or after, or somewhere inbetween.
Coming in at 151 pages, that book starts out innocent enough, but in a matter of pages you are tossed into a race agents time, a rescue mission and a good old punch to the heart, just to make it all the more nerve wracking. The only thing I would have to say, that I didn’t like, was that at times I felt like, the emotions weren’t there. There is flatness where there should have been raw bloody emotions, that rip out your heart strings. I know this was short, but I feel like more time should have been spent into developing those emotional scenes, to round out this otherwise excellent story.
As a whole I very much loved this addition to this unique series. Following Hale, his journey, and how he ended up at the guild, really puts him in a different light. I like meeting his brother, his mom, and just seeing what his life was like before. It explains a lot to say the least.
With that said, I will leave you with my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. This series is a must read, it’s putting a new spin on overused tropes and clichés. It’s a breath of fresh air, and I can’t wait to dive into the next instalment.
I absolutely loved this book!! It was so magical with a good amount of suspense and along with it some fantastic plot twists and turns. I think this is my favourite read from this author so far. I thought the characters were great and I loved reading about them. What I really loved about this book was how unique it was and the author wrote it in such an engaging way that I couldn’t put it down, her world building is usually good but it was excellent in this book. I really liked Wren and I actually liked that I had to work hard to get to understand her, I found her character really intriguing but there was something about her that I just instantly liked. She was a fantastic, strong heroine to read about. I think I would definitely like one of the deserts that she bakes!! Overall a fantastic YA read full of magic and murder mystery! I am really looking forward to seeing what is to come from this series!
Another great read from this author and a good introduction to this new series. I always really enjoy reading books by Ms Luana, I find myself easily immersed into her stories and they characters are always well thought out and developed. It is a short read however it was jam packed with a great storyline and some plot twists. I really liked the setting for this story too and thought that the author described it really well. I grew to like Hale over the story, after everything that happened he soon changed his attitude towards things and as the story went on my connection with him grew. I am very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series!!

What can I say but I absolutely have fallen for this series. The author has such a unique way of bringing the characters to life and I felt as though I was actually in the story. The refreshing way that you are drawn into the book and just feel as though you are escaping into the world that the author has developed. I just couldn’t put this book down.
I really felt drawn to Wren from the very start. The drama that unfolds around her brings you to the edge of your seat with anticipation. I liked how the author was able to not only throw in drama and intrigue but also weaved in just the touch of romance to boot. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Wren, Sable and Hale. Into the mix you have the chemistry between Wren and Lucas. The whole dynamic just adds to the intrigue in the book. I really cannot wait for the next book in this series. To get to delve more into the lives of the Confectioners and their world alongside the other guilds and see where the magic leads.

I love it when I find a new series. This is the prequel to the series and it really put a lot of things in perspective. I really enjoyed the author’s unique writing style. The story just jumps off of the pages. I felt as though I was really going through the things that the characters were going through.
