Distant Memory: She remembered everything (Solum Series Book 3) by Colleen S. Meyers – Review by Erica Fish

Distant MemoryDistant Memory by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Distant Memory is the third installment of the Solum Series by Colleen S. Myers. This story takes off from the end of Solum book 2. I highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 because you will not have the back knowledge of what is happening to Beta. This story had my attention from the first word to the very last word. With each book, I learned more and more about Beta. She is a strong woman who should not be challenge. The story is an action and suspenseful full of revenge and second chances. E’mani kidnapped Finn, Beta’s brother and former lover and now Beta is in a race to save him from the E’mani. Will Beta find Finn in time or will the E’mani have their way? You will have to read this book to get the answers to these questions.

Distant Memory: She Remembered Everything (Solum Series Book #3) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Angela Hayes

Distant Memory is the third book in the Solum series by Colleen S. Myers. It is a science fiction/fantasy story with action, adventure, aliens, magic, revenge, romance, conflict, friendship, suspense, emotion, and drama. This follows on from book #1 and #2, as the story continues from one book to another, so I really recommend reading the first two book before starting on this one- in order to have all the backstory, character information, and other relevant details, which will help you better appreciate this story.
This story has an intense, raw and gritty ‘race-against-time” component to it that really had me wondering how things would play out. It picks up where book two left off, and even though it was a little ‘slower’ to get going than the other two books, it is still a great read. There is some repetitive details and information which also made the story ‘lag’ at times.
As with the first book, the world building is excellent, with wonderful descriptions and details. The characters were well crafted, interesting and original- we catch up with characters we know, as well as meeting some new ones. The story was ‘tied up’ somewhat at the end, but I still have questions and things I want to know. I don’t know if there will be more books, but I certainly hope so.
Another great instalment in the series.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Myers does next!

Thank you, Ms. Myers!

This is book 3 of the Solum series. Like the previous 2 books, we are following Elizabeth on her path as she remembers what has happened to her. Colleen Myers does a fantastic job at pulling in her readers and keeping them tangled in the story. I felt there were tons of twists and turns that kept me guessing on what was coming next. I recommend this series!

Distant Memory: She Remembered Everything by Colleen S. Myers is the third book in the Solum series. This is a series that ideally needs to be read in order as it follows the same characters and the same story all the way through.
We are taken back into Beta’s world where she finally learns everything she had once forgotten. The book is as gripping and fast paced as the previous two have been. The author takes you on the journey with the characters. The whole way through I felt so invested in what was happening to them.
I really hope this isn’t the last of this series because it really has been a fantastic read.

Four Stars

I truly don’t know how to feel about Elizabeth. She is so indecisive about everything. Her relationship with Marin, Finn and her father is all a mess. She is constantly pushing Marin away. Granted I wouldn’t know how to feel living in her shoes. But I wouldn’t be holding secrets from someone I claim to love. The story was entertaining in some parts. Others parts just contained what I like to call filler words. I really have enjoyed this series so far and am ready for the next part. I need to know how everything falls into place. Beta is a hot mess and it’s going to take a while to fix all her issues. It’s so sad that she lives off her hate and need to kill Xade. That type of blindness is what stops you from seeing what else is happening around you. The author has done a really good job developing these characters and has made them very complex. They are just like you and me. They experience 50 million emotions in one day.

Distant Memory: She remembered everything (Solum Series Book 3) Colleen S. Myers is a fantasy sci fi story and one I have been waiting to read and of course Colleen did not let me down. You must read them in order or you will miss so much and only have a third of the story and the background information on the characters. She kept me engrossed and perched on the edge of my seat, as I turned page after page, with her masterful and vivid writing skills and a plot that has more twist and turns than a piece of licorice. There is more action and suspense, secrets and lies, truths and danger and we get to find out the answers to questions that have been sitting around the edges just waiting to be revealed.

Distant Memory (Solum series Book 3) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Emily Walsh

Distant MemoryDistant Memory
ByColleen S. Myers
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Distant Memory (Solum series Book 3) by Colleen S. Myers was a emotionally raw, race against the time, science fiction thriller, that had me on the edge of my seat.

The third book in the Solum Series, it picks up right were the last leaves off. A little warning, this is a connecting series and the timeline is continuous. Each book pretty much picks up were the last leaves off, so I highly suggest starting from book one. If not, you’re going to be confused that and, there is a lot of background and other plot points that will not make sense if you skip. Plus as always, you run the risk of spoilers.

I don’t want to give anything away at the risk of somehow spoiling this amazing read. Just know that this book is on par with the others but, has the added affect of, a little bit of aftermath from the last book, and the race against time element. This book has a lot of raw emotions and it pushes our MC to her limits. I have to say I was a little worried towards the end. There is a split second where you’re sitting there like… no the author didn’t. Gaw, my heart can’t take it when they pull stuff like that.

As for the ending, it was closed out, but not. As in, I’m sure there is more to come, because there are still so many unanswered questions and some uncertain faiths of other beloved characters.

Overall this book, as I said, is on par with the others. For me it lack some of that steller detail that made the first two books shine, but I can see why some of that was left out. When you’re on the clock, stopping and smelling the carnivorous plants isn’t a option. With that said I hope you take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that this series, this book, is a must read, and you will not be able to put it down.

Happy Reading.

After finishing book 2 in this series I couldn’t wait to carry on with the story. It is a continuation story so I highly recommend the previous stories. I was excited to see recurring characters and also some new ones. I actually think this may have been my favourite from the series so far. The author creates such a magical, fantasy world through her amazing descriptive writing; she really does make you feel you are right there in the story. I really do love Beta and I love seeing how much her character has grown and continued to do so over this story, she seemed to gain this real strength about her. She has such determination to get revenge, she wants to stand up for what is right which is admirable and she is so passionate about it – that really comes across in this story! I loved all the new twists and turns that came up throughout the book. This really is a wonderful series and I cannot wait to see what is to come next from this author!

Distant MemoryDistant Memory by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great read about changes. After the events of the previous novel, Elizabeth and her friends are desperate to rescue their friend Finn from the torturous ways of the E’mani. But when they meet a mysterious stranger called Selmay, they discover there may be more to the story. Searching for Finn, they find dangers in store and face new enemies closer to heart. Can they make it through it all and save their friend or will it be too late?
A great read. Well developed plot. The sense of uneasy quiet after the war while having villains still at large was brilliantly done full of tensions and suspense to keep you reading. New characters like Selmay were well developed seeking revenge but kind underneath or Texxak as mysterious and ambitious or Roger given more of a story with his past. I also liked how this trilogy continues to stick to Elizabeths perspective in the narrative as we follow her journey and is easy to follow in the first person.
I als0 loved the use of lab settings throughout the novel with the sense of claustrophobia and small spaces/ corridors for unease. In particular with the red lighting and dangerous walls in one lab later on which was excellently done. And then the contrast with open spaces and forests of outside which was a great combination. I also liked the sense of fantasy of winged creatures but the realism of science and computer hacking. And in this the feel of finding a family in the Remains and working together to stop horrible things from happening The only issue I would raise is that there was repetition at tunes at the beginning with long sentences which were hard to read. It also seemed slow paced and this could be resolved with a few more action scenes or conflicts to help keep the reader engaged. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Can’t Forget (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Erin Davidson

Can't Forget (Solum, #2)Can’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Can’t Forget is the second installment in Colleen S. Myers’ Solum Series, that takes off right where the first one ends. Elizabeth (Beta) Camden is struggling to understand her memories of the time she was with the E’mani. She’d thought that she had repressed them and lost them for good, until they begin creeoing their way back into her head. Unable to understand then and what the E’mani did to her while she was captive, sends her on the path of revenge to take down the E’mani’s stronghold in the dead of night. If Beta can’t forget her past, she won’t have a future.
It took me awhile to get into this series and enjoy the books, as all the new information is thrown rapidly at the reader, and it takes a minute to orientate yourself. Which can sometimes be an effective writing device, but other times it can feel a bit rushed and things get lost in translation. I found this to be the case for the start, and had to go back and forth to make sure I understood everything clearly and correctly. After I settled in and got the hang of everything I really started to enjoy the series and this book in particular. Marin and Beta’s chemistry together was fantastic and will leave you feeling flushed and giddy. Their tension was very well written and almost had me wanting more. I also enjoyed the creativity that went into writing this series and combination of magic and technology. I thought it was done very well, as it’s not a combination that you see often, or that works well together. But the author definitely proved that wrong.
Overall I gave Can’t Forget 3/5 stars.

Distant Memory is Book 3 in the Solum Series by author Colleen S. Myers. I don’t know how many times I can keep writing how incredible this authors book are, each time I have read another book from this author she just continues to get better and better.

With that being said, this is series is the one I have loved the most! Everything about this read captivates me. I highly recommend you read these books in order to really understand each read and just as a whole is a series not be missed! I have been eagerly awaiting this book, and now it over its a bittersweet thing.

This book carries on straight after the events of Book 2 ‘Can’t Forget’ its a smooth seamless transition that flows just like the rest of the book.
Throughout this book, we are thrown twists and turns continuously its full of action, adventure and you never tire of it. You cannot put this read down, you are constantly turning the pages wondering what could possibly happen next – yet when it does it’s something you never expect!

Each character that Beta interacts within this book whether they are recurring characters from Book 1 & 2 or new characters, comes across to you as the reader in different ways. But while they may have their own part in Beta’s story it’s Beta’s story that you can’t help bugs be connected with. With each book and especially this one Beta has become even stronger and resilient even with all the choices she has to make.

This read is once again one of the most mentally visual books I have read, I was captivated at every turn, was catapulted into Beta’s story as though it was my own! I highly highly recommend this read & this series, and hope this isn’t the last we get from these amazing characters!

Thank-you Colleen S. Myers for this fantastic series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about aliens. An alien race called the E’mani have caused devastation to Earth and captured its people. Among them is Elizabeth, a prisoner on board their ship. The E’mani are cruel and heartless, torturing her endlessly. When she develops magic, she escapes to seek answers, but can you escape the E’mani?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Elizabeth fighting to stay alive but a kind side underneath. Great villain that will send shivers up your spine. Loved the contrasts between everyday college life and alien spaceships blend of realism and fantasy which was beautifully written. I also loved visual detail throughout the novel like with the claustrophobic sense of the spaceships and corridors and labs which was great for a sense of fear. Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read. Overallt read and I would give it five stars.

Colleen S. Myers has done it again with Book three in The Solum Series: Distant Memory. I continue to love the characters and I really want to see Finn and Beta together. I get it her and Marin are mates and married but Finn was there first. This is the story we’ve been waiting for where Beta and Xade have their moment, more than one actually. There are also new characters introduced that are surprising and add a new twist to the story. I am hoping there is a book four in the series but with the ending it could go either way. I wasn’t sure I would like the series when I first started it but I have grown to love it and I was excited when I saw book three was out finally.

A great read about remembering. Elizabeth was abducted by aliens called the E’mani and taken to a far away planet but she fled from them to another race called the Forst. A few months later she finds her happy ever after in marriage and a baby. But the E’mani are not far behind and the threat of war looms. Will the Forst be able to stop the E’mani and war before it’s too late?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Marin protecting everyone but kind underneath or Elizabeth standing up for herself but loving underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the kind old mentor Ute or the fun friend Hana. A spinechilling villain.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the sci fi nature of the place with glistening lakes and icy world of two suns with blue and green shadows for a futuristic yet beautiful sense of nature.
And the sense of detail in the world with the layout and clan tents and greenhouses clearly thought out and described as if you were exploring it too.
I also loved the use of foreboding over the whole wedding scenes which was beautifully done. The use of flashbacks memories was done well and didn’t distract from the narrative of the present and added to the mystery. The only issue I would raise is that there was some repetition in places which if resolved would be five stars. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Distant Memory (The Solum Series Book 3)
By Colleen S. Myers

I am so glad to be reading this third book. I can not even explain my feelings after finishing. Happy, Sad, frustrated? Well a bit of all three. The story picks up where the last one left off. Finn has been taken and Beta (Elizabeth) is determined to find him. Her relationship with Marin is still a bit rocky and they each are dealing with trust issues.

This story is full of action! Pretty much from the beginning. It’s also full of twists and turns. Sometimes I wasn’t sure which way I wanted to story to go. I can only imagine poor Elizabeth (Beta) having to make these decisions. I easily became involved in the characters and the story. I had a hard time putting this down. Reading this felt like coming home.

There are a ton a characters. We met many of the new ones in the last book. We are able to revisit with many of them here. While they are all actively involved they don’t Steal the story away from the main characters. I enjoyed all of these characters immensely
(Even Xade). Getting to know them and basically becoming involved in their lives I will miss hanging out with them. Wondering what adventure Beta (Elizabeth) is going to go on next. So rereading is what will be on board for this series.

I kinda felt at loose ends when finishing. So I’m not sure if there will be another in the series or not. I am very glad I found this series and highly recommend it to any science fiction readers with a side of romance.

The story Distant Memory: She remembered everything (Solum Series Book 3) by Colleen S. Myers is a fantasy/science fiction book. It is one that I have been looking forward to reading. This is a series that I have enjoyed since the first book. I didn’t want to put this story down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about Elizabeth “Beta” Camden. Beta is a character that you only grow to love with each chapter of each book that you read. She is strong, independent, and stubborn. She is also smart and resourceful. This is a story that I went into having a lot of questions and wondering if all of them would be answered. It is a book that had me turning pages in order to find out what happens next and if everyone is standing in the end. There is action and danger around every corner and I was always wondering who can really be trusted. The story has truths that are revealed and plans put into motion. Most of the additional characters are ones brought forward from the first two books along with some new ones. I enjoyed reading about everyone’s part that they play and their interactions with Beta. This is a wonderfully written story and series. Highly recommended reading.

Can’t Forget (Solum #2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Chantelle Smith

Can't ForgetCan’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Can’t forget is the second read in the Solum Series from author Colleen S. Myers. Once again this book has held me totally captivated from the start, right until the very end! For the full benefit of this incredible series I recommend that it’s read in order, as you wouldn’t want to miss a thing with this series. I didn’t think Colleen S. Myers would get any better with this series, but my oh my – has she proved me wrong!

This author has once again transported us back into this created an incredibly vivid, mentally visual read. I couldn’t help but picture the whole planet in my mind while reading it, the look and descriptions of each individual character that Beta comes into contact with. All of it makes for an incredible sci-fi, alien romance novel filled with action, adventure, mystery, suspense, romance and most important an incredible plot.

This time we see Elizabeth ‘Beta’, trying to work out what could ultimately help the Fost bring down their enemies the E’Mani. Along the way she continues to grow as a person and her journey continues at a fast pace. I absolutely love her and Marin together, they bring an incredible dynamic to this read that I absolutely love to read about, but there is something between them that plays a big part in some of Beta & Marin’s actions. Along with Marin, Finn is back in this read and he brings another side of Beta to the forefront, one that also shows strength and determination. But too me my OTP has got be Marin & Beta.
But just as we think maybe there could be a possibility of a way to overcome the evil that has disrupted Beta’s life things are about to be thrown off!

Once again we were given twists and turns that make it even harder to put this read down, we cannot forget the magic that is weaved through the story and the history of it.
I loved that we are still learning all new things along with Beta, whether it’s the history of the planet she is on, the Fost, the E’Mani or even her own Power it made everything seem more real, and as though we were there living out the story ourselves.

Overall this was an incredible read that I loved that I got the chance to read, and cannot wait to delve into this world again in Book 3- to see what continues with Beta’s story – and whether they can finally overcome this evil! With plenty more story to be told I cannot wait to thrown back into this world!

Can’t Forget is the second book in the Solum series by Colleen S. Meyers and it just as action packed as Must Remember (book 1). This book has a lot of bumps and curves. I was reading along and then out of nowhere there was a sharp turn that I did not see coming at me. Beta (Elizabeth) is on a mission. She wants to go after E’Mani, the one who kidnapped her. Beta reminds me of a strong willed young version of myself. I love the books were I can relate to the main character and feel like we are one together. What will the future holds? Another great read in this series! This book should be read after book 1 as it is a continuation of the story. Even though I really enjoyed book 1 in this series I think this one was even better. I loved reading more about Beta and Martin. I still really liked Beta and admired her determined attitude, she knew what she wanted and she wasn’t going to let anybody, not even Martin, get in her way! Martin was sweet and really just wanted to protect Beta the best he could, however with her mind set on revenge he was finding that a little, if not very, difficult.
There were again some great twists and turns in the story that made it all the more exciting to read. The imaginative world that Ms Myers has created in this series is amazing, I really feel like I can visualise the setting at all times.
A great second book in this series that I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This is the second story in the Solum series. I absolutely loved seeing these characters again. We get deeper in the relationships between different characters. We get to know more of Elizabeth and her past. We get to learn more about Elizabeth’s and Marin’s relationship and the ups and downs that they experience. I feel that this story was a great story to follow up the first and to build up to the third! Colleen Myers does a great job of constructing this whole new world for us, and then getting us stuck inside of it!

Can’t Forget: If she can’t forget her past, she won’t have a future. (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Liz Vrchota

Can't ForgetCan’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book two in the Solum Series from Colleen S. Myers. I would highly recommend that you read the first book in the series, “Must Remember” before you dive into this one. There is a lot of detail in that book and it really sets you up for this one. As well as being a continuation from the first.

I have to say this one sort of bothered me. I had trouble liking/ connecting to Elizabeth (Beta). I found myself hollering at her in my mom voice a several times while reading the book. She really just needed to stop being so darn stubborn. I get why a character having these flaws sets up the way for future story lines but this one was just a bit too much. I don’t know maybe it was me, but that would have been the only reason for me why I knocked off a star. Everything else was engaging and interesting. I enjoyed the way Myers can build a fantastic world you can escape into. Her stories are fast paced and you often feel as if they are over before you barely have begun.

Like I said before this does pick up from the first book. Elizabeth, or Beta found herself in a whole new world from her typical college student life in that one. Now in an alien world she is also in the middle of a love triangle. (Those area always fun!) This one we discover more about her relationship with Marin. I did enjoy that aspect a lot, and Marin personally.

The E’mani is also still around and that means danger of course. This is where her stubbornness with come in to play and she will get herself in some trouble. She is also forced to make the decision to forget her past and embrace the future. Can she do this? I am looking forward to seeing what will come next in the Solum series.

This follows on from book #1, so I really recommend reading the first book before starting on this one, in order to appreciate the story better.
As we discovered in the first book, Elizabeth (Beta) Camden went from being a typical college student one minute, to waking up on an alien world, the next. She is thrust into a fight for survival, with much at stake. But not without finding herself in the middle of a love triangle.
This book sees Beta in love with Marin (#teamMarin), but the E’mani aren’t going to give up easily and so Beta finds, once again, that danger isn’t far away. But this time she’s determined to take the fight to them. But will this rash decision place the one she loves in the crosshairs? Can she forget the past, in order to embrace the future?
A great addition to the series, and just as good as the first book. Beta did develop and grow through the story, but she did frustrate me by trying to handle things by herself, arrrggggh!
As with the first book, the world building is excellent, with wonderful descriptions and details. The characters were well crafted, interesting and original. This was a little unpredictable, with surprising developments that kept things interesting.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Myers!

Thank you, Ms. Myers!

Wow! What an action packed, emotional story!! I loved it…then I was irritated at certain characters then I was surprised and shocked. This book covers a wide gambit of emotions but never doubt how much I enjoy reading this book. Immensely! This picks up nicely where the last story left off. I would highly recommend reading book 1 (Can’t Remember) before enjoying this one. You would get the full feel of the story.

I have to say in the first book I was frustrated in who ended up with who. I really felt Finn and Beta (Elizabeth) should have been together. So with that being said i struggled with the idea of Marin and Beta. As the story moves forward I really saw the devotion between Elizabeth (Beta) and Marin. Their love felt deep in this story. So that made me feel better. Finn…this guy…he doesn’t give up easily. He wants Beta (Elizabeth). Elizabeth (Beta) loves Marin and Marin loves her. Love triangle at its best! I root for Finn because of the way Marin is acting but then Finn acts like a jerk and Marin is back in my favor. Although Marin frustrates me a couple times in this story. How Elizabeth (Beta) can choose keeps me perplexed.

We get to see some of the old characters (Yay!) but then meet a slew of new ones ( boo-Zara) as well. They all help the story along without overtaking the spotlight away from the main characters. We are finding out more and more about Elizabeth (Beta).

I enjoyed this book immensely! Drama and action filled this book and kept me easily entertained. I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series. I need to find out!

Next Please!

Can’t Forget (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Jenni Bishop

Can't Forget (Solum, #2)Can’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Can’t Forget (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers is a Sci Fi story and the second book in the series. The book could be read as a stand-alone, but I strongly suggest you read the first book to get the back story of the characters and the world Colleen has created. The characters and relationships are developing and changing as we unravel the secrets of the story. Colleen has done a good job of making everything vivid and imaginable and you find yourself waging war on their behalf. Whilst living in a strange world with different species, Beta is trying to stay safe from the evil who kidnapped her and destroyed her family and friends and the only world she had ever known, Earth. Now her whole world is about to be tilted off its axis and destroy her happiness once again.

  • Can’t Forget: If She Can’t Forget About Her Past, She Won’t Have a Future by Colleen S Myers is the second book in the Solum series.
We are taken back into the lives of Beta and Marin. Beta knows that the E’mani won’t just let her life her life. She knows they will come for her. And she can’t wait to exact revenge when that happens. But with her heart also on the line the fight is even more dangerous.
This book was as good as the first, if not better. Because the characters were so well developed in book one it was extremely easy to slip back into their story. I couldn’t wait to find out how this story would develop and I was definitely not disappointed. As well written and engaging as the first book this is shaping up to be a brilliant series.View all my reviews
