This book reminded me of one of Sophie Kinsella romances, a laugh out loud romantic comedy. The two protagonists are very strong willed and have a personality of their own. They are very independent, one hates asking for help and the other hates to be taken advantage of. What happens when their personalities clash? There is a lot of quirks, banter, sparks, tender emotions, pets, rescue, debate, and some drama thrown in. It is fun,lot of gimmicks, I really enjoyed this book. Will check out more from this author.

Lab Spill is the second book in this series. You should probably read the first book, The Cool Thing first for maximum enjoyment. There is definitely some dark humor in this series. In this story you are following the adventures of RL, Jayderay, and Frankie. There are two main settings. The first is in Texas, and the second, well that’s in a place called the Waydown. The Waydown is a place that is the remnants of a long-ago abandoned and thought to be sealed off science experiment gone totally wrong, Lab Spills are creatures that have mutated from this area. Jayderay has been given a house known as Roaton. The house’s personality, a lab created person named Proby (who goes by Elvis), and the cast of characters explore what happens with the breastplate/portal between the “topside” and the Waydown in this series installment.

I haven’t read many collections of poetry. However, I found elements of this collection that I identify with, which heightened my enjoyment. I believe that poetry is designed to make you feel something. At times Mr. Becker uses language that I am unfamiliar with. I enjoyed this, because I got the chance to expand on my vocabulary skill, and slow down to really grasp the meaning behind his words. I feel like some of the music references were probably missed by me as I’m not an avid listener to the Beatles. My favorite poems in this volume were the ones that depicted the author’s mental health and how he deals with it. Also, the background design contributes to the themes of the poems, and enhances the reading experience in a lovely way!

Hate You Later is such a feel good romantic comedy! The banter between the two main characters, Georgia and Hudson, as they pretend to be their pets for an influencer challenge is so entertaining and flirtatious. This book has it all though; there’s humor, realistic, loveable characters, lots of ups and downs, and of course, pets! The inclusion of the pets is such an important part of this story and Ciara Blume does a wonderful job in seamlessly incorporating them. This was the first book I’ve read by Blume, but after reading this book, it certainly won’t be the last! I recommend this book to anyone who needs a feel-good, enemies to lovers romance.

4/5 Stars This book was an easy read, enemies to lovers comedy. I did find it to be a little hard to get into at the beginning but after I got through a couple of chapters, I liked it. Georgia & Hudson are both likable characters, but I wish they had more natural chemistry. I enjoyed their pets being an added element to the story. I really enjoyed this story. The characters were easy to like and the enemies to lovers story was good with a unique twist. This story is definately a rom com filled with funny goings on. Our main characters at first hate each other after Georgia finds out that Hudson is part of the family that is messing up her business and threatening the animal shelter she cares so much about. Any attraction that was there goes in an instant to hate. But there is a twist in this tale. Georgia is part of an influencer challenge as her pet dog and she is paired with a cat?
As they work as a team to complete the challenges the connection between them gets stronger but neither knows who is behind their pets. What happens when the owners come out from behind their pets? Will the attraction still be there? Or will they continue to fight like cat and dog?
This is a really fun story and I loved the pet element it added extra mystery to the story as you don’t know who is behind the pets and when it is reveled you will be shocked and happily surprised.

This book was not what I was expecting—from first glance at the book’s cover, it looked like it would be about music, however it was instead a collection of poetry; covering many of today’s topics and issues. The last time I enjoyed poetry like this was when I was younger and read the books from Shel Silverstein. To me, Euphoric Wonderland is the adult version of the Shel Silverstein books. Besides the captivating poems, beautiful art work was included. The combination of wonderful poetry and amazing illustrations made for a relaxing read! So, if poetry is your thing, I highly recommend.

This is a perfect beach read romance that’ll keep you coming back for more of the character’s antics. I love the take on being petfluencers and a feel good storyline. This story has everything you could want; a romance you pull for, characters you love to hate, and cute pets that seem to dictate their owners lives.
Georgia is the owner of Celestial Pets which specializes in clothes for all kinds of pets as well as natural foods and treats. When her world comes crashing down all at once thanks to the millionaire Holms. First they boot the pet shelter out of their current location, then the rent hike, and possibly theft. So when Georgia meets Hudson he’s not so bad until she finds out he is a Holm. Can Georgia and Hudson move past the bad blood caused by Bryce to find their happily ever after? Can Georgia manage to save everything she holds dear even if it means asking for help once in a while?
This book is all about growth, we see Georgia grow as a person and a friend. She finds that not all problems have to be solved by yourself and sometimes you need a little help from those who care about you. It was so fun to see the relationship develop and everything come to light regarding Georgia’s finances. This is an amazing book that’ll make you laugh, make you cry, and even make you want to deck someone.

This was such a cute rom-com! The main characters are doing an online Petfluencer challenge and they have been paired together, but they have no idea who the other person is, because part of the challenge is they can only communicate as the personality of their pet. While they are struggling to figure things out in the real world, their pet personalities are starting to wonder if a cat and dog can make things work. Georgia is a fantastic main character who takes no nonsense from anyone. She is tiny but fierce, the complete opposite of her sweet boxer mix Cookie. Hudson is her perfect match, a sexy Viking lookalike that gets her heart racing, despite knowing it’s his family that is creating barriers for her business to help support the animal shelter. Hudson is cat sitting Oliver, a very prissy white cat. Add in coffee witch best friend, a brilliant stepsister, and a loving brother, you have all of the hallmarks of a great romantic comedy, full of hilarious banter and misunderstandings. The characters are all fans of a podcast called Lit Lovers which is common theme throughout the book. I am so excited to see which character will be featured in the next series and I look forward to seeing Georgia, Cookie, Hudson, and Oliver in the next book!

Euphoric Wonderland is a collection of the author’s poetry. The poetry represents many different experiences of his life brought about in a moment of understanding while listening to the Beatles. He states that not that long ago, he discovered the music of the Beatles, on vinyl, and his life was changed. I am not sure how to describe what I just read if I am being honest. There were times that I didn’t really understand what he was trying to say and felt I was reading something similar to a Dr. Seuss book. However, there were also many poems that were very relatable to things today (p.s. You may need a dictionary, a lot of extensive vocabulary is used). That is what I enjoyed the most, his poetry used phrasing, words, lyrics, etc. that were recognizable by today’s society. I also enjoyed the aestetics of the book, the art matched much of what was being portrayed so helped, at times, with understanding. Overall, I feel poetry is a little bit of a lost art and for that alone, I enjoyed the process of reading this collection.

I never related more to a character, than I did to Georgia. Ain’t nobody got time to deal with dead end douche bags, silly drama, and bullies who think they can come in a take what they want. Georgia is a strong, independent, kick ass character. I loved the witty banter between her and Hudson. The angst and attraction is there from the get go! I couldn’t wait to find out how the story ended. Overall, I find this to be a really fun and easy read. It was exactly what I was looking for and I look forward to the rest of the Lit Lovers Series.

This book was literally one of the cutest I’ve read in a while. This was exactly what I needed to get out of a slump!! I was hooked with the whole pets aspect of this and it revolving around pet shelters and shops. I really was having such a fun time reading this I liked the parts where they talk to each other as the pets it was adorable. I really connected with Georgia and her issues with asking for help and feeling the need to take care of everyone plus your own issues on your own. Hudson was a strong male lead and I adored him. This was an easy read and I highly recommend especially if you like pets being in books

LAB SPILL: A Dark Comedy. Maybe. is the second book in The Cool Thing series. I recommend reading the first book in this series before this one. When I thought the story couldn’t get wilder, the story was continued. This has more twists and turns, fun dialogue, and more. I enjoy the author’s sense of humor and how it is used in the story. For example, I never would think slime could be a character in a story but guess what it can be! If you like a fun, out-of-this-world read then grab this series. I will give look out for more from this author in the future.

Not like my normal style, but now the 2nd book I’ve read by Rife. He definitely has a fun, campy, 80s movie ridiculous kind of vibe. Honestly I’m not a huge fan of what I know of the characters, he makes them easy to dislike. There’s lots of weirdness, “follow me down the rabbit hole” kind of read because it’s fun and most certainly unique. Slime, sci fi, horror, comedy…check it out!

I just adore Robert Rife. He spins such a fun, interesting tale that twists and turns. You laugh, you feel horrified, and you just are bound to enjoy every second. RL and Jayderay continue their terrifying adventure! I am completely obsessed with this series! It is full of dark, fun, twisted, and quirky humor with settings and characters to match. Robert Rife creates a weird (in the best sort of way) Sci-fi tale full of unexpected twists and turns and laugh out loud scares. I will now officially be afraid of slime! I really hope there is a book 3. I am not ready for this series to end. I highly recommend this to all lovers of Sci-fi and for anyone who just wants something unique.

This story was a fitting sequel to the first novel. It had nonstop action and surprises. I enjoyed exploring this world a bit more and was excited to reacquaint myself with the characters. This story will not be everybody’s cup of tea but if you want to explore something just a little different I recommend this author and this story.

To say I enjoyed this book is an understatement! It is a unique adventure, that is going to give you laughs, mystery and a good scare from time to time. The dialogue was pretty well thought of, which made for a fun action and page turning book that has scares and adventure. Definitely recommend for a good time! I missed out on the first book of the series, but I can guarantee you that I will definitely be reading that one as well!

I am pretty (read: absolutely) picky about sequels when it comes to series that I like, and I’m excited to say that Lab Spill is even better than The Cool Thing. I still loved reading the first in the series of course, but this one is a gamechanger.
We are right back in the middle of the mutants in the Waydowns of our favorite starship. Poor RL and Jayderay are still kind of exploring their feelings, but also very aware that the medieval suit causing a ruckus in RL’s house. What or who is coming up from the Waydowns?
I liked that we get to explore more inside the starship this time. I highly recommend this book especially if you love sci-fi, dark humor, and general weirdness. You won’t find another read like this and you’ll be clamoring for the next from this author just like I am!

RL and Jaderay return in the second part of this story, RL still has the breastplate and it is currently locked in a safe, but soon a mysterious explosion breaks it and RL has to move it elsewhere, preferably away from Jaderay and all her praying and shouting about it being the devils handiwork, like she does every time she sees it. Meanwhile, in the depths of the Waydowns, the lower decks of a lost starship, an insane doctor, a bunch of mutants and some crazy pulsating mould are moving through the area and becoming ore unstable and unhinged as time goes on, some still look vaguely human and others do not, but the Coiler in particular is slowly moving away from its isolated area, but the creatures down in the bowels of this ancient and forgotten place all have one thing in common, they all need to kill.
As Jaderay and RL explore a new acquisition, they manage to find their way into the Waydowns and have no idea where they are or how much danger they are in, but will they manage to find their way back out, or will this lab spill take their lives, before the other inhabitants get there first? This is a sci-fi which is full of dark humour and darker environments where things crawl and skitter through the darkness to find their next victim in a tale which will equally make you laugh, despair and grimace throughout, but will have you so intrigued you will just have to finish it.

I’ve learned to expect the unexpected with this author’s books. After reading the first book, I dove into this one with an open mind and was ready for another exciting read – I was not disappointed. From the first chapter, I was hooked and drawn back into the world crafted in these pages. This book has more of the author’s blooming creativity and intense writing. Ciara Blume’s Hate You Later is an original and light hearted Rom Com that will have you laughing out loud at times. It is an enemy to lover’s tale where you can’t help but fall in love with the characters.
This is my first read of this author’s work and I will certainly be reading more of her work. Her narrative flows easily and is a refreshing read.
The banter and antics of both animals and humans in the story make this feel-good tale a wonderful afternoon delight to escape the stress of the day.
I loved the snark, the claws, the chemistry and the fun and I know you will not be disappointed either. Make sure to add to your TBR list.

I enjoyed this book. I really liked Hudson and his relationship with Georgia. I loved the focus on pets too- animals put a good perspective in stories. You learn a lot about characters when animals are a part of it. I enjoyed the frenemies plot and thought overall the story was good. I would read more by this author.

This is the second book in this author’s series. I did not read the first one until after reading this one. I would recommend that you read them in order so that it makes more sense to you. Or at least I wish that I had. This was such a funny, yet gross at times, book. It made me think of Garbage Pail Kids in certain areas. I would not recommend allowing young readers to read this book unless they are into gross morbid oddities. The characters are different. And I mean that quite literally. If you are a fan of horror books or comics like The Walking Dead or Night of the Living Dead then this book is for you. I liked it. I would not however advise giving this book as a gift. It is not a gift giving book. But I do recommend you give it a read if you like monsters, murder, mystery , drama, and laughs.

I felt this was a decent read but not anything spectacular. I kept trying to grasp the plot but it fell a bit flat for me and read slower than I had anticipated. The characters were well written but I felt a disconnect from them and the relationship felt struggled and ingenuine. I love enemies to lovers plus the added bonus of dogs and cats but something failed to click. I found myself drifting off and just skimming the story in certain sections as it got longwinded and repetitive, especially the conversations between Cookie and Oliver. I wanted to love it based on the description and other’s reviews but I guess it just wasn’t for me.

This book is the second book in “The Cool Thing” Series. At the beginning it is rather slow, but it picks up pace pretty quickly. Lots of trashy, dark humor that will literally make you laugh out loud at times. The dialogue is amazing in this book, makes you feel like you are actually there for the conversations. There are lots of old characters, but also plenty of new ones that are just as weird, funny, and dark. Finally, we have some great exploration from the characters! This second book is by far better than the first!
