Doctor Frank Enstein (Doctors of Eastport General) by C.A. King – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Doctor Frank Enstein (Doctors of Eastport General)Doctor Frank Enstein by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Doctor Frank Einstein is a plastic surgeon who spends his days doing cosmetic surgery for superficial women who he feels do not need the surgery. Unlike many other cosmetic surgeons Doctor Einstein is not in his line of work for butts and boobs. He does it to make a difference in the lives of those who really need it. Those that have been scarred or disfigured. When a job opportunity opens up in the burn Unit of Eastport General Frank jumps at the chance.

As a child Doctor Einstein lived through a fire so he knows the damage such a traumatic event can do to a person both mentally and physically. That day changed his life and he vowed that when he grew up, he would do something that made a difference in the lives of others. Working in the burn unit at Eastport General gives Frank the opportunity to do just that. When some of Frank’s new co-workers invite him out to a local bar for drinks to get to know one another he reluctantly goes.

At the bar, he meets busty barmaid Barbara who he is immediately attracted to, but she makes a less than favorable impression on him. When she finds out Frank is a plastic surgeon, she tries to ask him a question about his line of work, and he immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion. Frank immediately shuts down Barbara’s line of questioning and abruptly leaves the bar. Barbara is flabbergasted that this doctor has been so rude to her and is unsure why he acted that way over such a simple question. Frank immediately feels guilty and wants to apologize for being so rude, but will Barbara ever be able to forgive him?

When Frank and Barbara first meet the chemistry is instant, but they make a bad first impression on one another. Frank realizes that he goofed when he acted so abruptly and knows he needs to apologize. Thankfully, Barbara is understanding and is willing to forgive him and get to know him. As Frank and Barbara get to know each other better each realizes the other has more to them than meets the eye. Frank did not go into cosmetic surgery to be with superficial women who only care about their looks. He did it because of his past history as the victim of a fire and wants to help those who have suffered similar situations. Frank wants to make a difference and help disfigured patients gain confidence and self esteem. Barbara has been well endowed naturally and lives in constant pain from the strain on her back. All she wants is a life free of pain and one where men think of her as more than a pair of breasts. When Barbara meets Doctor Frank, she finally has hope. A great read about love, first impressions, chemistry, romance, understanding, and compassion.

This is the second book in the Doctors of Eastport General series. It is written by a different author than the first book as each one is written by a different writer. I like that idea because you get a view from the minds and perspectives of different authors. I think it makes the series that much more interesting. This book was not long at all. It was a very quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I wish it would have been longer. I didn’t want to put it down. The author put a lot into such a small number of pages which I personally loved. I highly recommend this book, as well as this series, if you are a fan of romantic short stories.

Doctor Frank Enstein is a well known plastic surgeon but it’s not the real kind of medicine he aspires to do. His real goal for getting into medicine was to help burn patients that suffered traumatic injuries. He jumps at the opportunity to head up the new Burn Unit at Eastport General where he feels he can make a difference. Frank meets a barmaid named Barbara Labomba when he is invited out for drinks with a colleague. She tries to strike up conversation having to do with his old work but he wants nothing to do with it. When he finds out her reason for seeking his advice he seeks her out to not only apologize for his rude behavior but to help her any way he can. One thing Frank was not looking for was a romance but Barbara is not someone he can easily forget. Even though things start off rocky for these two there may be a happily ever after on the horizon.

This was a really enjoyable short romance read. It was a fast paced story that keeps you turning the pages. The characters were both very likeable and worked well together.

Frank was a cosmetic surgeon, he had a well paid job but he wasn’t happy so he leaves to take a job as a surgeon for a burns unit which is very dear to his heart.
When he starts work he meets a barmaid called Barbara who asks for help. She struggles with a bad back due to her big chest so she was looking for a breast reduction.
Unable to help her Frank gives her the details of his friend who could perform the surgery. What Frank doesn’t expect is to fall in love with Barbara.
This is a story about a one night stand that turns into more. As the story progresses we learn all about Frank’s past and why he is driven into the work he does. He has had a hard life and closed himself off to everyone until he meets Barbara.

Sexy with a side of drama and medicine
This short contemporary romance is part the multi-author Doctors of Eastport General collection. It is a quick read but has all the necessary parts to give the reader enough to sink their teeth into. The storyline is entertaining and the characters diverse and charming. Looking forward to checking out other books.

As always this author did not disappoint! Another sweet romance read. This one is about a cosmetic surgeon who has been working towards one goal. When he finally gets to his goal something unexpected comes along, well someone unexpected. She is not what he expected but in the most amazing way. Barbara was not looking for anything but advice and she found so much more. I really like getting to know about Frank’s past and what drove him to work so hard for his end goal. I am always a fan of this author’s writing style and cannot wait to read more from her!

Doctor Frank Enstein by C.A. King is part of the Doctors of Eastport General collaboration series. I found this to be a really fun short read. When Frank decides to change his career path from cosmetic surgery to leading the burn clinic at Eastport General, he makes the decision to be dedicated to his path with no distractions. When he is accidentally rude to barmaid Barbara, he begins to rethink his choices. This was a very enjoyable book, I wish it was longer as there are so many other interesting characters and relationships within the hospital staff, this has definitely encouraged me to read some of the other titles in the series.

The Challenger (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2) by Rowan Rossler – Review by Megan Pesek

The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2)The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flynn is a former tennis player turned motivational speaker who recently returned from her book tour. She’s a well-known speaker and writer, yet hides so much of her truth from the world. She’s determined to not let her past catch up with her, even if it means ruining all that starts to go well in her life.

Chavez was at the peak of his tennis career when he abruptly left the circuit. He is hot-headed, extremely sure of himself, and doing all he can to cover his family drama. He aspires to reach the top of his game again too.

Sparks and tension are ablaze when Flynn and Chavez meet in their therapists’ shared waiting room. Chavez wants more than a relationship with Flynn, he wants her to be his new tennis coach too. Flynn agrees, but her flight or fight response kicks in when old problems surface as things with Chavez get more intense.

I love Rowan Rossler’s writing, so it was no surprise that I enjoyed these characters and the overall story. Between the age-gap (it’s not as much of a gap as I anticipated) and everything else the characters have to navigate, it kept my attention from the very beginning. The Challenger is the second book in the series, but is easily read as a standalone. The first book, The Cruiser, is definitely worth reading if you want to fully understand the friendships and connections.

Braving Lily (True Platinum, #5)Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Braving Lily by Morgan Bevan is the first book in The Brightside branch of her True Platinum series. It follows Pop (Rock) Star Lily as she embarks on an unexpected, romantic adventure with Rys. After being stood up on two dates, Lily is frustrated with the winner of her charity date. Turns out that Rhys didn’t even bid. His mom did. When the date finally occurs this unlikely pair realizes they have more in common than they could imagine and, maybe, just enough for a happily ever after.
If you have read some of Ms. Bevans’ other books you will be pleasantly surprised to hear from some familiar characters as well. Enjoy!

C.A. King has done it again! She never fails in writing a book that gets me hooked right away! In this book we are introduced to Dr. Frank Enstein and to Barbara. Unfortunately Dr Enstein has always had some tunnel vision when it comes to his life and what his goals are. Most of this comes from a traumatic event that happened to him when he was a child. Dr. Enstien is a plastic surgeon but his goal in life isn’t to took on boobs and butts, his goal is to help trauma patients, especially burn victims and when the opportunity finally arrives he jumps on it! Well little does he know that one night while out with his co-workers he runs into Barbara the bartender, and she is about to turn his world upside down! Unlucky for Dr. Enstein, his first meeting with Barbara did not go his way one bit. He comes off as rude and when the next encounter with her happens he starts to feel bad about how it went when they first met. Barbara has some issues that are putting a crimp into her everyday life, and she hopes that Frank can be the one to help her. But as time goes on Frank realizes while he cannot help Barbara with her issues, but maybe his old partner can. What he does realize is that he has fallen for Barbara and she is the woman that he has been wanting and waiting for.
I won’t say much more about the story line because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone, but I will say that is was a great read that wasn’t very long. Even though it is what is considered a short read, C.A. doesn’t leave you hanging and gets right to the point. This book reminds you that you shouldn’t judge based on appearances.

Braving Lily: An Opposites Attract Rock Star Romance (True Platinum Series Book 7)

My only regret about this book is that I have only read one other in this series. It isn’t necessary to read each one since they are complete stories with happy endings, but sunce the main characters are connected it’s my preference.

I liked the first one I read but this one grabbed me. There was just something special about Lily and Rhys that made me fall in love but can’t put my finger on it.

From the moment they met, you knew their story was going to be great but bumpy. Being involved with a famous musician must be difficult. There is no privacy and your entire life is under a microscope. Stories published even if they aren’t accurate and Lily wants to protect him from it.

Rhys is an incredibly smart and proud man, but even that didn’t keep him from stepping in it. And how precious was his niece Sienna?

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m so glad I picked up this book. My only regret is that I wished I’d read the rest of the series up to this point first. I’m saying that not because this book can’t be read as a standalone, because it most certainly can, but rather because I love these characters and the author’s writing style. This is the fourth book in the True Platinum series, though it’s listed on Amazon as Book 5 because they have counted the shorter novellas as books as well. I literally couldn’t stop reading this book once I picked it up. Morgana Bevan writes in such a way that you feel like you are a true part of these characters’ lives and you are invested in their story. This book flowed so nicely and was a great, easy read which allowed me to stay immersed in the book the whole time.

This is the story of Ella and Jared, a drummer living life on the edge, or is he? Will they be able to come to a truce while they are stuck stranded in a cabin together or will they kill each other? To be honest, enemies to lovers isn’t really a genre I love, but the blurb piqued my interest and I’m glad it did. Now I’m off to read more of this amazing series while you should be getting it to read yourself. I promise you won’t be sorry.

This is the fifth book in the True Platinum series, though it’s listed on Amazon as Book 7 because they have counted the shorter novellas as books as well. I love Morgana Bevan’s writing and the way she makes you feel completely immersed in the books and the character’s lives. I’m only sorry it has taken me this long to find such a great author. This is the second book in this series that I’ve read and it definitely won’t be the last. Do I wish I had read the books in order? Yes, but as they can all be read as a standalone, it isn’t necessary.

This book is about rock star Lily and Rhys, the man who literally stands her up twice! Lily, having just come out of a long relationship where she found out things weren’t exactly as she thought, agrees to a charity blind date, though nothing goes as she expected.

This is a fun read that, much like the other book in the series I read, I just didn’t want to put down. I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of the series that I’ve missed while waiting for the next and I think the final installment in this series to come out. I definitely recommend this book and series.

Braving Lily is part of a series, but I read it as a standalone and didn’t feel lost with any of it. After reading this book though, I’m definitely picking up the rest of them! This was also the first book I had read by Morgana Bevan, but she’s done such a marvelous job with this book that I am now following her. Lily is tired of everyone always using her as a rockstar trophy. She’s given up on finding anyone worth a second look when she’s stood up multiple times. Rhys watched his marriage fall apart and doesn’t fancy having to entertain any more conceited women in his life. When his mom sets him up with Lily, he has already made up his mind about her – an arrogant, self-involved rock star. Will they give each other a chance or just brush it all off as a shallow encounter? This was an amazing read and I highly recommend it! I can’t wait to pick up the other books in the series.

Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan is available now in eBook and Physical Book
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review

“I question whether normal men are worth the effort. Turns out the rock star variety aren’t.” – Lily

“It’s safe to say, after my marriage crumbled before my eyes, that I’m not interested in opening myself up to any kind of heartbreak again, ever.” – Rhys

Morgana Bevan has won me over again. Braving Lily is the seventh installment of the True Platinum Series. Although part of a series, this one can be read as a standalone with no confusion. Lily Tyler, a rock star, sells a date in a charity auction. When Rhys stands her up for that date she is hot! “I’m having this date one way or another.” Lily backs Rhys into a corner and demands at least coffee. Will this setup by his mother turn into more than just coffee? Or will Rhys keep his heart locked away forever?

Bevan is a sucker for a rock star romance, particularly if it involves a soul-destroying breakup or strangers waking up in Vegas. I absolutely loved that Lily was a female rock star. All the books I’ve read in the past focus on male rock stars. I enjoyed Rhys, even though at times I wanted to take him by the shoulders and shake some sense into him. The characters within Braving Lily were all lovable and relatable. The story line was realistic and had me rooting for these love birds the entire way. I read this novel in one sitting and the only thing I regretted was not having more to read. I 100% recommend this novel to all steamy rock star romance lovers and I will not be hesitating to get my hands on more installments from this series.

Braving Lily (True Platinum Series Book 7) by Morgana Bevan. I loved this book mainly because instead of just a regular ole rock star romance the rock star is a woman. Lily is the rock star and the story starts off where she has decided to let them auction off a date with her for charity. When it comes time for the date she is stood up and typical rock star style she can’t get over it. She decides to look up this guy and she finds Rhys, a handsome guy who is divorced and really not ready to date but his mom signed him up. When they meet Lily realizes that Rhys actually feels something for her which he isn’t used to. The more they get to know each other the more Lily really likes Rhys because he could care less about her rock star status, She is worried what will happen when she leaves for her year long tour. Will they be able to continue the relationship or will the tour tear them apart.

This is book 5 in the True Platinum series. The good thing is these books can be read as a standalone as each book features a different couple. In this story we are with Lilly and Rhys.

I loved the fact that in this rockstar romance the rockstar it Lilly. She is a fiesty, strong confident person who is fed up of having her love life spread all over the gossip pages. After her last heartbreak she has sworn off romance and is concentrating on her career which is really taking off. However all that changes when she auctions off 1 date and Rhys reluctantly walks into her life.

Rhys has his own past heartaches to deal with and dating is the last thing he ever wants to do especially not dating a spoilt star who always gets her own way. When his mum wins the auction he is given the date which is doesn’t want. When he stands her up hoping to save them both from wasting their time the last thing he expected was the star to turn up on his door step.

What follows is a story with a lot of chemistry between Rhys and Lilly but also a lot of issues of learning how to trust and love again. Will the rockstar walk into his life and change it for the better? Or will their lack of trust and past relationships and heartbreaks stop both of them finding the love they deserve?

Although Dr. Frank Enstein us top in his field as a plastic surgeon, this was never the field that he wanted to practice in. A position opens to head the burn department at Eastport General and he jumps at the chance. Having lived through a fire when young, he always dreamed of helping others heal from the traumatizing experience. Shortly after joining the team, he heads out for some drinks and laughter with his colleagues when he meets the extremely buxom Barbara. Let’s say first impressions left a lot to be desired on both sides. Swallowing his pride Frank attempts to make up for his rudeness. Can Barbara forgive him? Can they have their happily ever after?

This book is part of a series written by multiple authors. I always enjoy this author’s books so was happy to find a new one. The book is short but quite enjoyable. It can be read in one lazy afternoon relaxing on the couch.

Braving Lily (True Platinum, #5)Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing. It had funny parts, serious parts, loving parts, and just plain roll your eyes parts. This isn’t your typical rockstar romance. The rockstar in this book is Lily. I love that the female lead is the rockstar and the male lead, Rhys, is just a normal character. They both have been burned before by people that are supposed to love and care for them. Lily takes matters into her own hands and decided to blind date by auctioning off a date with her. Rhys, decides his mother doesn’t always knows what is best for him and doesn’t go on the date. What a way to get the attention of a mega pop star. The is just the beginning of their story and it will have you feeling everything and giggling throughout the rest of the book. It is your typical opposites attract love story because of the fame but they are similar because of their pasts and not feeling good enough. Lily feels used and Rhys feels betrayed. Can these two over come those hurt feelings and make something good happen between them? Will Rhys actually show up for a date with the super star? Can Lily trust someone not to be after her for their own personal gain? These and many other questions are answered in this book. I highly suggest reading it. It is a very quick read and really well written, you will find you are finished with it right after you started it.

Lily is waiting for the second time for her charity date to arrive and God forbid he stands her up again. So when the Blind date does not appear she takes matters into her own hands and chases down the elusive or reluctant man.

Rhys is in a slump, finding your wife with your best friend will do that to you but when your mother interferes and bids on a blind date for you, you know you have hit rock bottom. He has already deducted out once and when his doorbell rings expecting his mother, he is surprised to see the most beautiful women standing there but as he looks into her eyes he sees the anger of a scorned woman.

Lily is taken aback by Rhys, he is not what she imagined, this to her was a fulfilment of part of her being a famous but when she agrees to go on a date with him, things become different, and fells start creeping in. Can Rhys really be the one for her? Or will the fake world she lives in ruin the best thing that has happened to her in years.

Although this book is part of a series each story can be read as a stand alone book. I loved the way these two characters are drawn to each other; each have had their heartbreaks and although they are from different walks of life they just see each other as equals. As the story drives through you see a side of celebrity which is destructive and not healthy, with Lily wanting to keep their relationship secret not to hide Rhys but to have some control on something just for her was emotional and endearing.

Rhys’s character was a great compliment and I think I have yet another book boyfriend to add to the list, the way the writing weaved through both insecurities was refreshing and great to read.

I can’t wait to read more books by this author in the future.

Braving Lily (True Platinum Series Book 7) by Morgana Bevan – Review by M Policicchio

Braving Lily (True Platinum, #5)Braving Lily by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lily is a true superstar in every way. Sold out tours, grammys, gold and platinum albums, fans by the millions, and stalkers (every true star has one or two). So when some nobody that was set up by his mother stands Lily up, not once but twice, she is confused and frustrated. Lily takes matters into her own hands and tracks him down. When she meets him, he is nothing like she expected but everything about him intrigues her.

Rhys didn’t want to date some mega pop star. He didn’t want to date at all. Since his divorce, his mother just won’t leave him be. When his mom sets him up with Lily, Rhys does his best to avoid the situation until he can’t, she is standing on his porch. As Rhys gets to know Lily, he finds that nothing he thought about the mega pop star is true. The one thing true about her is that he is falling for her.

Can a relationship with a normal guy withstand the spotlight of a mega pop star?

Another stunning addition to this series.
