I Love You Today (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas – Review by Christie Mitchum

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been looking forward to the second book in this trilogy, and Julie Navickas surpassed all my expectations.

I fell in love with Austin in the first book, and my heart broke for him. I thought he deserved his own HEA. Thankfully, he does find happiness, but the road is fraught with many bumps, and he will have to make some hard decisions along the way.

Austin is still nursing a broken heart over Mavis, so when a job opportunity opens up in Chicago, he jumps at the chance to put some space between himself, Mavis, and Josh. When Mavis’s bestie, Casey, allows Austin to be her roommate, sparks fly between the two of them. The chemistry is sizzling, but one thing is an obstacle to a more serious relationship…Mavis. Austin has to really reflect and ask himself if he can ever get over her. And, Casey, has to determine whether she can trust Austin’s feelings for her. When another twist occurs, it will almost push them both to their breaking points. I thought Navickas dug really deeply into their emotional turmoil, and she did a great job at it. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster with this one.

As with the first book, the characters were complicated, and with each chapter, another layer is peeled away to reveal even more about them. One thing I really liked was seeing characters from the first book show up, yet they took nothing away from Austin and Casey’s narratives. If that wasn’t done brilliantly enough, Navickas also gave her readers a deeper look into Lauren and Mitch’s relationship. Lauren is Josh and Austin’s sister, and Mitch is Mavis’s brother. This is a foreshadowing of her third book which will feature Lauen and Josh, and again, it takes nothing away from the main characters. I can’t wait to get my hands on that book! It is sure to be another emotional rollercoaster!

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved, I Love You Today! I actually enjoyed it more than book 1 in this series. The author takes the reader on another rollercoaster involving one of the Templeton twins.
Austin is lost. The woman he loves is marrying his twin brother. How does one get over heartbreak? Not just heartbreak though, he could lose his best friend too because of his actions. Not that Mavis helped one bit. What she did made me not care much for her and what she does throughout this book made me really dislike her. Despite Austin’s past transgressions I feel like nobody is giving him the benefit of the doubt. Everything always comes back to Mavis.
Casey just lost her roommate and best friend to the west coast. Seeing a hurting kindred spirit in Austin helps him get away from the awkward, of his twin brother and his new fiancée. Despite her insecurities she goes to bat for Austin on multiple occasions against Mavis. Mavis warns her to stay away, which I feel like she’s being selfish after stringing him along. But what happens when Casy can’t stay away?
Is Austin into her or is she just a rebound?
Has Mavis gotten into her head?
One trip to a Cubs game changes everything for these two.
The character development for both Casey and Austin is leaps and bounds ahead of book 1. Which is what makes me love Austin’s redemption story that much more. It’s sort of a redemption story for Casey too but in a different light.
If you’re stumbling upon this review without having read any of the books in this series, I encourage you to read book 1 first. They go together like two peas in a pod. If you’ve read book 1, what are you reading this for? Why aren’t you already jumping into book 2?

5 stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is book 2 in this series and picks up after the debut, and I highly recommend reading book 1 to get the story that leads up to this book….as we are seeing the aftermath of a rekindled love between Josh and Mavis but leaves Josh’s brother, Austin, hurt.

How do you pick up the broken pieces after your heart is shattered….knowing you did love someone once upon a time? That is what happens to Austin Templeton. Josh and Mavis get their happily ever after, but where does that leave Austin. When Mavis moves out of her apartment in Chicago to be with Josh, this also leaves Mavis’ roommate and best friend, Casey as well. Austin and Casey get to know each other on another level….and initially strike up a friendship. When the friendship leads to more…..can Austin feel like he is truly over Mavis..as Casey is falling more for Austin?

This story is so good!!! I love Austin and I absolutely adored Casey so much, she is definitely my favorite. This book brought out some past secrets, love and forgiveness. I loved this book so much and cannot wait until book 3!!

I absolutely loved the first book in the series. So when I found the second book I knew right away I needed to read it. This one was as heart felt with every single emotion possible as well. The book has sweetness, heartache, love and so much more that you feel like you’re on an emotional roller coaster. The characters are realistic and make it so easy to feel their emotions. The plot ebbed and flowed perfectly and other story as a whole left me wanting more.

I Loved You Today is the second book in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy by Julie Navickas. OMG- after reading the first book in this trilogy I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this instalment and find out what happens with Austin after he had his heart ripped out when Mavis chooses his twin brother over him.
I definitely wasn’t ready for the emotional toll that this book took on my heart!! Duh- you’d think after the first book, I would have guessed that this would kinda wreak me lol… So yeah, Ms. Navickas battered my heart with her story- and I loved every minute of it. The way this book ends has me anxious for Book #3…. and I am pretty sure she has plans to shatter me once again….and yep, I really can’t wait!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Julie Navickas!

“I loved you yesterday, Princess. But today..” my gosh this book! I loved the first book but THIS book?! EVEN BETTER! Love the writing so much! Huge page turner for me and I finished this in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. I wasn’t sure what to think of Austin in the first book but I absolutely ADORE him in this book. Him and Casey are simply perfect!!! He thought he knew what love was..he really did. But he didn’t figure out the true meaning until he fell for Casey girl 😍 the way he is towards her, the way he lifts her up, the way he sincerely BELIEVES in her…is so heartwarming. But the way Casey BELIEVES in Austin is just as amazing. I love Casey! She’s my favorite in the books, as well as Lauren! But Austin and Casey have some important choices to make. Austin thinks he knows what’s best…will he screw everything up because of that? As much as I loved this book I was so mad about 83% into it 😭 to the point where I want to throw my Kindle across the room!!! Like what is happening right now? Julie, I may need therapy after that twist of events 🤣 BUT I live for the drama apparently Lol. If you love a book with laughter, sadness, spice, LOVE, drama…read this! So so good and you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for the last book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved the first book in the series. This one was as heart felt with every single emotion possible as well. The book has sweetness, heartache, love and the whole 9 yards. It was an amazing read!

I loved how this one took off where the previous book did. The ending of the first book brought a lot of feelings for me, so this one continues, really helped those feelings, and allowed new feelings to come to light. I was rooting all the way through for Austin and Casey. For me Austin was held dear to my heart (if you read the first book you get what I mean) Their story was sweet, yet facing dilemmas and that was very realistic to me. I loved Casey, (to be a bit selfish, I grew up in Chicago and greatly love my Wrigley field and the Cubs!) She was perfect for Austin, and she truly had the power to heal the past, Their story was beautiful yet stormy weather can come without notice. You make it through the storm together always. I was hooked. The story lines that came to light, loose ends that got tied, and common happiness and ground that was found. I very much am looking forward to the next book in the series. It was an emotional ride, in a good way! It was very much impossible not to love the characters, the story, and the author’s writing!

If you have not read the previous book, do it. It gives great back story of characters and emotions. This book really took my breath away. I simply loved it from start to finish! Amazing read and series!

OH boy, my heart aches. I want to wrap Austin up and take him away. Austin is thrust back into life and the job he loves whilst his heart is still in pieces two thousand miles away. This time he must decide what’s more important the dream he has so longed for or the one thing that no completes him.

Casey has flitted from one party to another, one man to another, one job to another but when her heart is on the line, she wants to do better and even if that means she has to leave the choice to another.

I Love You Today is the exciting sequel in this delightful contemporary romance The Trading Hearts Trilogy. It I just as raw and emotional as the first book and I am glad that I didn’t have to wait too long between books.

This sweet steamy, passionate tale is wonderfully written. The characters are masterfully written and make your heart flutter. Just like the first book this tale is complex yet beautifully woven together to give the reader a heart melting story that will stay with them.

I am trying to be patient and wait for the conclusion of this Trilogy if it is like the first two it will be explosive.

I don’t know where to begin. I felt actual pain in my heart at the end of Chapter 24. I was aghast. I almost couldn’t continue. But I had to get to the end to know how it was fixed. Amazing. Can’t wait for the 3rd book.

Austin is still heartbroken that Mavis chose his twin over him. There is a small glimmer of hope with Casey but how can he pursue her from 2000 miles away. Austin gets the chance of his life. His law firm partners ask him to oversee the opening of the new Chicago office. This gives him a chance to not only escape the drama at home but move on, possibly with Casey. Austin jumps at the chance.

Casey is floundering without Mavis. Mavis was her champion, her strength, her best friend, her sister. With Mavis moved back to California to be with the love of her life, what now? It is crazy to think Austin would be interested. He surprises her by telling her that he is moving to Chicago and agrees to live with her. Maybe they can see if there is a possibility. As Casey and Austin grow closer, Mavis’ wedding looms in the future. So many things come to a head when Austin and Casey return to California for the wedding. Will this mean the end of Casey and Austin?

Destroyed. Still not over it. Not sure I ever will be. How could that be said? And with the step up for Book 3?? OMG!!! I don’t know if my heart can take the wait. Read this book. Read this series. But be prepared for the book hangover. I am warning you in advance. It will be a while before you can heal and move on from this emotional game of love.

Wow what an amazing heartfelt read. I truly was captivated by the storyline and the characters right from the very start and it held me that way right until the very last word. Austin and Casey (especially Austin) immediately found a place in my heart and will stay there for a very long time. They are completely relatable characters and you feel every emotion they do. I loved their cute text message banter at the start. I know it’s a small thing to remember and point out about a book but it really had me hoping they would find their way to each other right from the start.
This is the second book I have read by this very talented author and I can honestly say she has a fan for life in me! I can’t wait for book 3 of this amazing trilogy!!

This book is incredibly touching and will have you rooting for Austin, Casey, and even Lauren (Josh & Austin’s sister). The author touches on Lauren’s story here in book 2 but this is mostly to introduce her. You’ll learn more about Lauren in book 3. Austin and Casey are the pair that you love to see together. They have chemistry and they have both deserve happiness. The author has put together a story that will have you drawn in from the beginning. You will want to read ‘I Love You Yesterday’ first. The book picks up right after the first one ended. There is tension and drama as feelings are dealt with. New romance is on the horizon but can it last among new jobs and friends speaking about “concerns”, etc.? The author deals with every issue that comes up with these type of relationships whether rich or poor. The characters are well-developed and show there true-colors. I have to say Mavis is not my favorite. Lauren is more of a BFF to Casey. This is an entertaining read that will have you feeling all the ‘feels’ as you read it. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Wonderfully done! I can’t wait to read Lauren’s story.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read and enjoyed the first book in this trilogy, I was looking forward to this sequel, and I was not disappointed. I was intrigued to know what was next for Austin, his twin brother Josh and Mavis. Having lost the girl he loved to Josh, Austen decides to relocate to Chicago, in order to get over Mavis, especially once Josh and Mavis are engaged. When he meets the easy going, impulsive and sometimes reckless Cubs fan, Casey, the fact she’s everything that Austen isn’t, is exactly what he needs. Austen wasn’t planning on actually falling in love with Casey, but when he’s offered his dream promotion and he has to choose between moving to Los Angeles or staying in Wrigley Field with her, he realises their relationship isn’t just a bit of fun anymore.
Austen has to choose between either his career or the girl who helped put his heart back together. This was a heartwarming romance, which had me hooked throughout. Having read that Mavis and Josh had their HEA, it was nice to find out what was in Austen’s future. I loved Casey and thought she was perfect for Austen, and their chemistry really came across in the narrative. I was cheering them on hoping they would both get their HEA. Although it can be read as a standalone story, I would personally recommend reading the books in order. This was a real page turner, and I look forward to the final instalment in this enjoyable and engaging trilogy.

I Love You Today (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 2)I Love You Today by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the second in the series and did not disappoint me at all. I fell in love with Austin in the first book and this book brought me more into the character that he is. There is nothing like living the dream you always wanted to have something go wrong and then trying to figure out what happens next. I feel that the characters in this book made that journey from what was supposed to be too what is to be, full of adventure, steam, and personal growth. Can love really make someone forget about what they feel is in their blood to do? This the main topic of this book. Don’t get me wrong there are tons of emotions and growth in this book that kept me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I fell in love with this story because everyone wants to believe in a love so strong that the other person would want to give up on everything just to make them happy. However, we all know that isn’t really how things go and this book covers that completely. I laugh, cried, swooned over this story and I highly recommend it anyone who just needs to escape for the day and be wrapped up in an amazing love story. This book can be read as a stand along but I feel for you to fully get the depth of the characters you will want to read the first book in the series before this one.

I absolutely loved Jim and Juliet! Jim’s inability to take anything seriously was one of my favourite aspects of the story. Juliet’s love for literature and the way it brought them together was absolutely perfect. Their chemistry was off the charts right from the get-go, and it was absolutely wonderful.
I loved Juliet’s caring heart, and Jim’s goofy, yet cautious ways when it came to Charles, and the issues that brought upon her.
Jim is forever caring, and wonderful toward everyone he meets, even when he’s unsure about them. I loved their banter of different play quotes and the way that it was continued throughout the story.
Juliet’s ability to pull quotes from different plays at any given moment is absolutely bananas! Her brain is like a wealth of literary knowledge and I loved every second of it.

The Perfect Mrs. Claus by Barbara Matteson is a charming and delightful holiday story with all the feelgood ingredients we love about Christmas stories.
Savanah has been feeling lost and alone since her husband death. Her son has moved to the other side of the world for work, which means that Savanah is looking at being alone for Christmas. But a spur of the moment visit to one of her favourite stores results in a tempting proposal, which changes everything.
These characters were so endearing, so easy to like- I found myself quickly investing in them and the outcome of their sweet story.
Sprinkled with emotion and a little humour, this Christmas romance will warm your heart….. and is a great way to kick-off this holiday season.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Matteson…
Happy Reading…

I enjoyed this because it involves an older couple who find love when they least expect it.
Juliet is a teacher and when Jim joins her class there is instant attraction. The class assignment is to read Romeo and Juliet, which gives Jim inspiration. I love Romeo and Juliet so I loved the quotes. There is so much that goes on in this read. We get a glimpse of the past so that we can understand the history. Both characters were great each in their own ways. There is a twist and Juliet is put in danger. Will Jim be able to help Juliet?

Carina has had her fill of tragedy and heartbreak over the past year. Covid hit the world and in her small world was even worst, with losing her mother, Sister and father in the space of the year and contracting COVID which left her near deaths door her whole world has been drape with darkness.

Carina feels lost and wandering the path of life with no purpose anymore not quite understanding were she fits in; her husband has just carried on with life. Her children have grown and flown the nest a while ago and she is no come to a point where she feels she is does not fit in.

The only thing she looks forward to is her chats with Max a young man who knows the heartbreak of losing someone close to them as his young wife passed away from cancer which has left him lost as well. So, when a conversation occurs, and Max offers his cabin to Carina is she brave enough to take him up and start building her world back up.

I have to admit this book at the start was “Where is this going?” but I have to say the more I read the more I related to Carina in a way I have not thought about. We all struggled through the pandemic no matter where you were in the world and if you lost someone close it must have been a horrendous time. I live in the UK and my father passed away through cancer not COVID but the restrictions around his funeral were more heart-breaking than the funeral itself.

I also related to the fact of trying to “get back to normal” whatever that is in this time now, this book highlighted the struggle some people are having with the life in general. It was a great thought provoking but which I would recommend people to read just to say you’re not alone in this.

Thank you for writing a book with the characters so personable and a story which was well written and flowed beautifully through the thoughts and actions of these characters.

This book gave me so much joy. I fell in love with Savannah immediately. She just had this personality and essence about her that pulled me in. Which was the point. Savannah is extremely selfless and has an enormous heart. She really made the perfect Mrs. Claus. I loved that she was the center and not Santa. Like they say behind ever man there’s a great woman. We don’t give Mrs. Claus her props enough. Matthew is a sweetheart as well. He’s shy but caring. Awkward but kind. They make quite the pair. Nothing says the holidays like love! Please read this book it has a the feels!

Hot for Teacher - Shakespeare Made Us Fall in LoveHot for Teacher – Shakespeare Made Us Fall in Love by Felicia Carparelli
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hot for Teacher was good, but it caught me off guard. Student/teacher romances are a guilty pleasure for me. So when I decided to read this book I went strictly from the title and didn’t read the summary. It was different then other student/teacher romances I’ve read in the past. The author did a wonderful job pulling it together. The main female character frustrated me some and I wasn’t a fan of how the main male character’s intelligence was projected but besides that I enjoyed it.
Juliet is a literature teacher at the local college and one of those classes she teaches is a night class. (Anyone who has taken a night class knows the age range of the students is all over the place.) Little did she suspect a man would catch her eye. One who wasn’t a typical student, but a man who is seasoned.
James went back to school at the urging of his adult sons. Taking a night literature class, since he has his business to run during the day. Never did he expect to be attracted to his teacher. His first assignment is to read the first so many pages of Romeo & Juliet. He promises her he intends to read the whole thing.
This story is their roller coaster of interaction. Juliet’s stubbornness, especially while James tries to court her. Using Romeo and Juliet for inspiration, they quote different passages to each other.
Does James win the lady?
What happens when Juliet’s life is in danger, does James come to her rescue?
There’s also a conclusion that almost made me sad/mad. All was right in the end.
It’s a Student/Teacher romance though different is worth picking up.

I LOVE a good wholesome Christmas story and this one did not disappoint! The pandemic was a tough time for Carina. She faced many challenges and is working on learning to overcome and live her new normal. When a friend offers his cabin to her for a Christmas family getaway, she dreams of what that may be like. When her grown kids sound like they won’t make it for the holiday, Carina finds herself wondering if she could make the trip alone and what that may look like.

I was glad to see a post-pandemic world reflected in a story. Humanity as a whole experienced a big shift in everyday life. We experienced, love and loss and we are still recovering. This was a wonderful story of self-discovery, self-growth, and reflection as Carina’s story progressed. No matter what you experienced during the pandemic, you can relate. I found myself fully enveloped by the winter wonderland and it was magical. Carina is surrounded by a melting pot of supporting characters that perfectly shape her world. This was a beautiful journey that I was pleased to take alongside Carina.

What a way to start off the Christmas Season! Anyone else ready for cozy Christmas reads once November 1st hits? I truly enjoyed this cozy heart warming , Christmas Romance. It was cozy and at sometimes cheesy but I personally believe thats absolutely necessary for a cozy Christmas romance. I really enjoyed the relatable realistic characters (of all ages, I may add). If you are looking for a good read to kick off Christmas Season, this one is it!

A Crossbow Christmas by Ann Swann – Review by Bobbi Wagner

I enjoyed reading this holiday story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well written story about Carina. She has just spent a month in the hospital and is now looking forward to having a family holiday. What will happen when she is left to her own and is offered a cabin? What kind of Christmas will she have? I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. There is some emotional roller coaster in parts but that just makes her a stronger character. There is great growth to this story. It is fast paced and hard to put down. This is a story you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

Hot for Teacher by Felicia Carparelli – Review by Jules Herbert

Juliet is a woman very passionate about her job as a teacher who while teaching a class about Romeo and Juliet meets an older student James (Jim) who is as good looking as he is infuriating! He is extremely attracted to her and is determined to break down the walls surrounding her heart to prove he can be the man for her. I will be completely honest with you and say that when I first starting reading this book I wasn’t sure 100% sure about these characters especially Jim and it took me a little while to connect with them but I am very happy that I kept reading! As I read more and more, the characters and storyline developed and so did my enjoyment of this book!
