Shameless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 2) by KG Fletcher – Review by Tausha Treadway

Shameless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #2)Shameless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shameless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 2) by KG Fletcher. This book is by one of my favorite authors so I knew I would love it and it did not disappoint. Its the story of Walt a hard working, farm guy who has a hot temper and doesn’t ever want to leave the country. Elyse is a hard working city girl that doesn’t have time for relationships. When Elyse and Walt meet at a studio party the chemistry is off the charts. Throw in a snow storm and them getting stuck in a crazy snowstorm together all bets are off. He can’t stay away from her and she is the same. Will they be able to work out as a couple or are they so different that it will never work. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the 1st book to get a better feel of the characters! Awesome romance!

This is the first book in this new series for this author and what a great start it is. I can’t wait to see what is next in this series. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story that brings steam and romance to an engaging story. I enjoyed how the author used details to bring her story to life and made it realistic. The characters pull you into the story from the start. They are relatable and supportive of each other. They added so much to the story. They have great growth and chemistry throughout. This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. I have enjoyed reading this author’s books and this one is no different. This is a must read story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Isaac and Jack’s story is fascinating and had me on the edge of my seat. Valentina made the story even more perfect. Watching Isaac grow through the story and getting to see familiar faces pop in make this one of my favorites. The Hawke family are one of my favorite series and the 2nd generation is just building on that. I loved the storyline. The characters were well-written and fit in to the story just right..Mafia romance has become one of my new favorite and this author is right up there at the top of my list. I love seeing the protagonist come out on top.

Shameless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #2)Shameless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s time for Walt’s story. He’s a touch of grump with big loving, teddy bear. Reading how much he cares for his sister was so touching. He and Elyse are such a good couple as they work through their relationship. I found this story charming and it has it’s moments of drama (with a touch of steam). I love this series because the author has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are right there with them. Right from the beginning, you are welcomed right into the story and can’t put it down. It’s kind of like being part of their family. This is a family that is strong and just trying to do the right thing. Another winner for this author. One of my favorite series for the year. This will be going on my bookshelves.

Shameless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #2)Shameless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While I did enjoy Shameless Love, my expectations were higher for this book after reading Teddy’s story in Faultless Love. In the first book, I was taken on an emotional roller coaster but in Shameless Love, I didn’t connect enough to get the emotional response I was hoping for.
In Shameless Love, we are given Walt Bennett’s story and his rather rushed love of Elyse. Elyse is a producer for a food network with eyes on Walt’s sister to have her own show. When Walt and Elyse meet, it is love at first sight. While they are meant to be, I as a reader was wanting more drama between the two. It seemed too clean and straight forward with no actual plot between the main characters other than steamy moments between the sheets. As a reader, I wanted more engagement, but I never got beyond surface level for both Walt and Elyse.
If I had read this as a standalone, I would have enjoyed it more but knowing the author is capable of pulling at my emotions left this book feeling a bit flat, although enjoyable.

Grace Under Fire (The Anderson Sisters Book 2) by Jennifer Raines – Review by M Policicchio

Grace Under Fire (The Anderson Sisters Book 2)Grace Under Fire by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Grace Anderson has spent her entire life knowing that she was going to eventually run the family farm. Grace has started to slowly make it her own by adding handmade cheeses. As her future is drawing closer, things begin to change. First was her sister’s death. Next was the custody battle for her niece. Now is her mother’s health. And for the cherry on the top, her next door neighbor that ran after the death of her best friend, his brother, 8 years ago came home. Grace manages to successfully avoid him at all the local functions, except for a hello. As the changes mount, Grace is finding that she needs him more than ever, but she doesn’t want to.

Ryan Wilson couldn’t stay in that small town that killed his brother. He had to escape. Now, he is back. Unfortunately the one person that he didn’t mean to leave behind won’t talk to him so he can explain. Grace Anderson was just a teen when he left but now she is all woman. A fiercely independent woman that lets him know it. Ryan has given up on love and relationships but is finding that Grace is drawing out all kinds of feelings from him, not just the memories of his brother. When someone starts trying to ruin Grace’s plan to buy her family farm by harming the land and putting Grace in danger, Ryan feels the pull towards his farm and a need to protect Grace. Can he do both without losing Grace?

The author takes you on another emotional ride with this family. Grace’s deeply ingrained independent streak is partially from her father and partially from surviving the schemes of those that seem to be out to get her family. This independent streak causes problems for Grace as she tries to pursue a relationship with Ryan and find a way to make her dreams come true. If Grace could only learn to think before she pops off like a firecracker, she might not have to repair the damage her mouth leaves. This was an excellent duet. I brought my Aussie to American dictionary back out a couple of times but it was worth it. I am sad that there are no more sisters.

Echoing Hearts (Book 1 of The Echo Series)Echoing Hearts by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic book that, for me, was all about the characters. Dean and Rae are such strong and brilliant characters. Despite their turbulent start they really were very well matched. They both had a certain passion and you could feel the chemistry between them on each and every page.
But it wasn’t just the characters that stood out. The author has also written a brilliant book that compliments them. I found it engaging and could not put the book down once I had started reading it. There are ups and down and it really made the book interesting to read. If this is the first book in the series I can’t wait to see what is next.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am really enjoying this series. While the 2nd book it can be read as a standalone.
Evan and Kayla are business partners but what happens when they’re paired in Blind Date?
I love the idea of an actual blind date, where you get to know the other person for who they are without the worry of superficial things like looks, body type etc being the first thing to notice and dismiss or gravitate towards.
I loved these two and how this story unfolded, grabbed me from the start.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this book! I read this in one day, I was so hooked and invested in the story and the angst was real! My heart was hurting so much and I just wanted to shake Dean so much! There were times where Dean and Rae really irked me, I felt like at some points Rae was too pushy and then at other points Dean was too distrustful and because of that he acted like a total tool. I know Rae was doing all she did for his own good, but it felt rushed since they had literally only known each other for a minute. Dean’s employees, well actually only Gayle, she really got on my nerves. I hate how people kept getting into their business, he is a grown man and can make his own decisions you do not need to interfere unless he asks. I guess he was just insecure with who Rae’s best friend is and how his previous relationship turned out so I’ll give him that, but man, this was one of those books where you wanted to scream at the characters to just sit down and talk and listen to each other. Really excellently written book.

Evan: A Steamy Billionaire Workplace Contemporary Romance (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 2)

It has been a while since I have finished a book as quickly as I finished this one since life has been so crazy for me but this is one I had to get finished to find out what was going to happen next.

Kayla’s restaurant business is taking off and things are going well, until they aren’t. Evan tries to be her knight when things get bad.

Evan like most of the guys is genuinely a good guy, but things are definitely trying for him. His first two dates are disasters and it makes him reluctant to go on the third understandably.

I really enjoyed reading this book and the series so far. I’m looking for to all of the remaining books, but none as much as Luke’s story there is something going on there and I can’t wait to find out what it is.

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 1) by Toni Denise – Review by Donya Pedigo

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates #1)Jake by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading the blurb I had to pick this book up. The idea of a dating app and then an actual blind date in the dark is such a great idea. Just think how much this could help people get to know one another and grow without it just being about physical attraction, wealth, or status.

This is the first book in the Billionaire Blind Dates Series by Toni Denise. In this book we meet a group of best-friend billionaires that want to help their friend Jake find romance, because his latest relationship turned out to be another gold digger situation. So what better way to meet someone than on an anonymous app where you can talk and later meet in a dark restaurant so your identity, financial status, and even looks are hidden? This is how Jake meets Lauren.

Lauren, a secretary to a CEO, gets convinced by her friend Catherine to try this Blind Date experience. Though hesitant, she finally agrees to the blind date experience with one main condition: that the person she matches with has a similar financial status as her, because she has seen how her mom dated wealthy men and was deemed a gold digger. Will it matter when Lauren finds out she is actually dating a billionaire, or will the amazing chemistry these two share be enough to overcome?

I really loved seeing how these well written characters seemed so real that I became invested in their story. This is a fun, fast read that flows really well and I can’t wait to see which member of the friend group is up next to find love.

Evan (Billionaire Blind Dates #2)Evan by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Evan by Toni Denise is the second book in the Billionaire Blind Dates Series, though this book can be read as a standalone, I’d recommend reading the first book as well. In the first book, we get to see the friendship/ partnership between Kayla and Evan as he helps his friend find love.

This is a friend’s to lovers romance that has complications like work partnership and friendships that the couple could potentially mess up. I really love the idea of a dating app and then an actual blind date in the dark. Just think how much this could help people get to know one another and grow without it just being about physical attraction.

The chemistry between Evan and Kayla is undeniable and so fun to read about. These characters are written so well that they feel so real and almost like friends of yours as you read their story. I’m really enjoying this series and I can’t wait for the next book to see who Cade is matched with.

Straight for the Kill (Benoit and Dayne Mystery Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Daree222

Straight for the Kill (Benoit and Dayne Mystery, #3)Straight for the Kill by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another thrilling murder mystery in the Benoit and Dayne series. I listened to the first two and flew through reading the third as the case that looms in the background gets revealed more and more. It is not easy to stomach the horrible things people do to others but knowing these two are fighting the good fight, no matter what it costs them, gives me a little hope for humanity.
There are so many good things to say about Winter Austin’s character development and storytelling. She brings you into the investigations, you care about each of the characters and wonder about others whose stories are only touched on.
Something terribly wrong is happening in their county and it will take all hands on deck to figure it out.
Everyone has secrets. Unfortunately, some will kill to keep their secrets safe.

As the second book in the series I already had certain expectation when I started reading this one and I am pleased to say they surpassed them. I enjoyed the overall premise of this book. It felt fun and entertaining while also providing a strong story. I thought Kayla and Evan worked well together. They had a natural chemistry that developed even more as the story progressed.
This is still a pretty new author to me but so far I am liking what I have been reading. She has a fairly easy writing style meaning you engage with the story with ease. After reading this book I can definitely say I am looking forward to the next one and to discovering more of this authors work.

Echoing Hearts (Book 1 of The Echo Series)Echoing Hearts by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

C.R. Alam did an amazing job of grabbing your attention and never letting it go. Rae Allen has not had a great example of successful love in her past, and she is a bit tarnished to the idea of falling in love. She is a successful travel blogger with an amazing set of friends, she is good doing life on her own. Dean, he has been broken in the past, and decided he didn’t need a woman in his life. When they meet, things might change.
I love this enemies to lovers, love triangle story. Like, most romances, you have an idea where the story is going, but this journey was definitely not a straight path forward. Lots of detours, dead ends, and u turns lead to a captivating, real feel story that you can’t put down. I cannot wait to read more!

Evan (Billionaire Blind Dates #2)Evan by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Evan is part of the Billionaire elite, after the success of Jake’s blind date, Evan unfortunately is the next victim/candidate. While all his friends put forward there prospects, the dates are set in the restaurant “Blind Date” and Kayla the owner and business partner of Evan is marshal as she was with Jake, so what could go wrong.

Evan’s first date is a disaster and when he has a heart to heart with Kayla to try and get the rest of names he realises that he has feelings for her but does not want in to put the business in jeopardy if it does not work out.

Kayla has worked her socks off to get “Blind Date” to become successful business working with her silent partner Evan has been great, although over the past few months Evan and his friends have slowly creeped into the friends zone and she is happy to have some in this vast city. When her friends start scheming and convince her to be Evan’s third blind date. As they start talking to each other under the secrecy of the app she realises there is something there and would like to investigate it more, but when her business is in wreaked can she swallow her pride and accept the help from her friends and Evan.

I loved this story, this can be read as stand alone story as you have little recaps throughout the story but I do recommend Jake’s book as it is a great read. Evan and Kayla where dancing around each other in the first book and you got a sense that the chemistry between them would ignite soon but OMG i did not expect to burn as bright as it did.

The story was well written and developed and I love all the secondary characters which just enhances the story with there little subplots exploding every now and again. I can’t wait to reading the next book in the instalment and definitely can’t wait to see what happens with Catherine and Ryker.

Evan (Billionaire Blind Dates #2)Evan by Toni Denise
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this book! The story flows and the romance moves right along. The book kept me engaged and I could have read this in one day but I had to break it into two because you know…life. I enjoyed the characters.

Kayla and Evan had a hard time getting together. Multiple things stood in their way or jumped in their way as the story moved along. I was rooting for them the while time. That first kiss!!! WOW! It gave me chills! Soo Sexy! There is nothing better than a good first kiss. It grabs the reader’s attention.

The ending seemed kind of rushed to me. I was surprised neither of the MC had a problem with the way things went down. Feathers ruffled at least. I wish that could have been fixed earlier then time could have been spent on the suspense part and not doing both together.

Overall its a wonderful and enjoyable story. Filled with a lot of lightheartedness, suspense and fun characters. I look forward to more in the series.

Grace Under FireGrace Under Fire by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read the first book I couldn’t wait to get into this one despite having read the first book my attention was grabbed by two relatable things , suicide and farming ….,

Having lost someone I loved to suicide I could identify with Grace and Ryan on an emotional level and with Grace and the family farm I identified on another level as I’m married to a farmer and we live on the family farm and bought the farm over from my husbands parents ❣️

Grace’s hand is forced to a degree to buy her folks out when mom gets ill and she has plenty of ideas to rescue the farm and it’s looming downfall but that also means facing “demons” when she has to take hands with Ryan and to a degree he’s a reminder of what she’s lost and in the same breath it couldn’t have been easy for Ryan because of the bon his sister shared with Grace , maybe I’m just too emotionally involved but my heart did bleed and rejoice at the same time because I felt this on so many different levels …..

Ryan snd Grace make a formidable team ❣️📚

I love that she is quick witted and doesn’t pull any punches, she speaks her mind and Dean is easily drawn in by her. He is charismatic and a tad bit sad if I’m being honest. These characters are definitely relatable, as I have been through my own share of heartbreak and trust issues, honestly, who hasn’t experienced that at one point in life or another?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great small town romance between old neighbors. Watching the two main characters discover a new path forward was enjoyable. I read the book in a single setting. I didn’t want to put it down.

Grace has plans to take over her family’s farm in a decade, but with her mother’s help deteriorating her time has just dramatically shrunk to 3 months. Not nearly as much time as she was counting on to be able to buy the farm from her folks. Another hardship tacked onto her life that has already had a fair share of them from losing her best friend to suicide as a teenager to watching her father get swindle from prime farm pand.

Ryan, who believes he failed his younger brother by not preventing his death, has moved on from the town. In that time away he has made a business of flipping farm properties. He has no attachment to land or to people. It is that reason he is back to sell his mother’s farm.

Grace was his neighbor and his brother’s best friend before he died. With hard ballers and sabotage being thrown at them will the past they share bring them closer together? Will they both be able to work through their own issues from mistrust and abandonment to being haunted by tragedy? Will Grace be able to achieve her goal of buying the family farm?

Pick up the book to find out!

Grace Under FireGrace Under Fire by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I know nothing about farming, milking, or cheese production. That being the framework for Grace Uncer Fire had me questioning if I would enjoy it. But I took the chance and glad I did. The book was a little slow moving, but it did have a lot of drama that kept the story going. I was a little frustrated by how long it took Grace and Ryan to own their feelings for each other and Danny and the past. I think they didn’t quite realize their own feelings until far too long into the story. And I felt the info surrounding Danny was developed and revealed too slowly. We find out he died. Then much later we learn how. Then much later we learn the circumstances of why. Then nearly at the end, the full feelings and actions that day. So overall I feel like the author drug their feet a little and made the story much longer than needed… but overall I liked it. The characters and the past drama, the closeness of the families, etc were all likeable. I am happy that there is a pre story for Ella- I felt like there was a lot of details from the past hinted. So I look forward to reading Taylor’s law.

I have to say this book had me hooked right from the very start! This author creates such wonderful storylines and characters you just can’t resist them. With such fantastic writing it is so easy to imagine the people and places she describes. I think my heart also engages because as a fellow Aussie I know the places she mentions and it just gives me the warm fuzzies LOL.
It is so easy to see that Ryan and Grace are meant to be together if only they’d get out of their own way! Moments in their pasts have made them both create different walls around themselves in order to feel protected from what life may throw at them. While trying to work out who is out to try and take Graces family farm they both little by little chip away at those walls and learn more and more not only about each other but also about themselves.

Echoing Hearts is the first book in The Echo series by C.R. Alam. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the Title and cover intrigued me, as did the promise of a bit of an angsty read- so, I snapped up a copy and dove right in.
What I discovered is a interesting contemporary romance with plenty of drama, angst, emotion, chemistry, family, friendship, jealousy, doubt, and through it all, finding love unexpectedly. There is a little enemies to lovers element, as well a love triangle. This added an extra element of interest to the story, for me.
I did enjoy the story for the most part. It was a little slow to get going and did lag a little in places, but the chemistry and emotion of the story kept me turning the pages.
I am curious to see what the rest of the series holds. On to ‘His Forever Muse’ (Book #2)…
Happy Reading…

Thank you, C.R. Alam!

Echoing Hearts (Book 1 of The Echo Series)Echoing Hearts by C.R. Alam

Echoing Hearts is a rollercoaster of emotions. Which put all the characters through the ringer, not just the main two. Though the author has you rooting for the two main characters as you navigate their journey. A journey of learning to live in the present.
Jilted at the altar which is where meet Dean.
Doing a favor for an old friend is where we meet Rae, it’s also when Rae and Dean cross paths for the first time. Which was also when sparks fly, and though they knew something was different, both of them are hiding behind a fortress they built around themselves. Each for their own reasons, but these two are broken souls stuck living in the past they struggle to move forward from.
Fear can be a fickle thing especially when fueled by the past. Each time these two take 1 step forward, they take about 5 steps back. Which doesn’t make this path of self discovery easy, but anyone who ever said life was easy is lying.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story the author told. Building up the backstory to help one understand why these two are holding themselves back. Living life by past experiences is a hard thing to let go of. (We’ve all done it at some point in our lives) It also stunts one’s emotional and mental growth, but you have to want to let go. It can’t be forced, it can be aided but never forced.
The question is: Can Dean and Rae let go of the demons from their past, so they can move forward?
You can find out the answer to that question and so much more, by checking out this lovely book. I, on the other hand, look forward to reading the next book in this series, and/or something else by this author in the future.
