I loved this. Who doesn’t love a fireman? A fun and entertaining rom-com. The characters had a lot of chemistry. I found it was fun to read and watch them come together. A well-developed story that kept me engaged from the start. I didn’t want to put it down. I read it straight through. A fun romp. I can’t wait to see what’s next in book 2

What a beautiful story. Hailey and Loch turned out to really need each other. Loss affected both of them. Reading about Hailey hearing Loch’s nightmares in the hall was kind of heartbreaking. Watching them work through it and come together felt good though. Loss and grief is ard to get through. The story is well-written and the characters are unique and fit so well into the story. Ican’t wait to read more in this series.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This author’s books are engaging and hard to put down. I enjoy their writing skills as well as their attention to details that pull you into the character’s world. This book is no different. It is a well written story about a toaster fire, the owner of said toaster and the firefighter that comes to the rescue. Libby and Zach are great characters that I had no problems connecting to. They have great chemistry from the beginning and watching their growth throughout the story just made it easy to read. I enjoyed how they pulled me into their world and had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next with them. What will fate have in store for these two? This is a fast paced story that is entertaining to read and one you don’t want to miss. This is one of my favorites by this author yet. I highly recommend this book.

Libby is brand-spanking-new in town and has finally reached the end of her first day. She is in her comfy pink Disney pajamas and just wants some toast to unwind – which is how and when she learns that an old toaster and uncleaned crumbs can cause a real life fire! Totally flabbergasted, she finally comes to a bit more to her surroundings when an insanely hot fireman is coaxing her out of her new home to safety. Zach is a fireman in Libby’s new town and happens to be the one coaxing her to safety, and a very welcome but distracting view.

There really weren’t any surprises in this storyline but it was so fun, so cute, I had an abundance of moments where I actually laughed out loud. The chemistry and character building was great and I will absolutely be following up with the other additions that will be made to this series. Such a super read for summer – fun and light and hilarious and a touch steamy. Loved Libby and Zach!!

Make Me Want To Love You: Love in Emerald Creek

I connected with Shayna from page 1, I was a single Mom who knew I met the one when he had no problems spending time with and taking care of my daughter and she would ask him to do things for her instead of asking me. It was so hard at first and I remember struggling with it much like Shayna.

Burke is a great guy period. When he steps up and helps Shayna one day with both of the kids and how he connected with Eli a little boy desperately in need of some positive male attention he won me over, well at least as a match for Shayna. Burke struck me from the moment I met him in Dre’s story, so glad my gut about him was right.

Once again Ms. Jackson delivered a book worthy of curling up on the couch and reading. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Libby recently inherited a home and has firemen there before she’s settled. Zach is one of the firefighters on scene Libby’s first day in Woodvalley Pines. The house is fine, but there is a real spark between Libby and Zach! They have different relationship expectations and have to navigate new territory together without actually being together while also juggling family, friend, and career pressures.
Toasted is a fun and flirty contemporary romance. It’s so lighthearted and easy to read that I was done even before I wanted to be.

“There is a difference between being alive and living. To love, one must live.” How true this is.
Loss and grief are painful things. Broken souls are even harder to put back together. But together they might just make it.
Loch’s personal life is a mess and that is creeping in to his professional life so when told to take time he agrees. He needs time to grieve, to heal, to find himself again.
Hailey can never take it back and that and the accident have left her reeling.
It was easy to relate to the characters and especially Hailey as I have watched my husband for years not being able to speak to his father after arguing before he died. Never have I seen two people need all the love and support that Loch and Hailey need. I wanted to wrap them up and take away their pain.
The lovely romance story is raw and an emotional rollercoaster and definitely pulled on my heartstrings.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more.

Single parent stories are one of my favourites tropes and when I saw the second book in this series was just that I could not wait to read it. This book was brilliant from start to finish and the author has done an amazing job at writing this style of book. She has effortlessly made the characters ones that are easy to connect with and engaging. I was behind them the whole time and couldn’t wait to see what they journey would be like.
This author is one that I always enjoy and I think this book has to be one of my favourites that she has written overall. The story is interesting and I connected with it straight away. It is brought to life by the characters and the emotions. This is a book, and a series, that I would highly recommend.

I absolutely love this series. Shayna and Burke are associated with one another through their mutual best friend Dre. They are drawn to each other and start as friends and grow into more, much much more. This book is full of all the emotions and feels. Friendship that leads to becoming lovers and there is drama and romance. It is everything a divorced, previously abused, single mom could ever hope to find. I love this book just as much as the first. While they can be read as stand-alone I highly recommend they be read in order to get the character backgrounds and learn about Dre and her story.

Healing Hearts: Gene & Amanda’s Story, An Echo series prequel (The Echo Series)

This was the perfect story to end my reading break on. I have enjoyed each of the books in the Echo Series and love that we have Prequel in this series.

Gene is home to help the local Dr and figure out what he wants to do next. Comes across Amanda and witnessed her getting into an accident. Everything from that moment on is nothing either one of them could have expected.

I found myself so engrossed in the story that I didn’t put my book down and thankfully I didn’t have to worry about work interfering with my book time. I have been fortunate enough to read all of this series which also appears to be her entire catalog which is surprising to me. Ms. Alam has quickly become one of the authors I read without question. Dr. Gene Rowland has recently returned to his hometown of Gainesville, Georgia and boy what a welcome he gets. He witnesses an accident of the local baker, Amanda Garner, who swears she crashed trying not to hit a teenaged girl running across the road. No girl can be found and even if there was one she was long gone. She doesn’t want to go to the hospital but ultimately goes and talks Gene into staying with her over night. He tries to keep things strictly professional but his feelings grow day by day the more time they spend together. Little does he know that Amanda had a crush on him in high school and her feelings may have never gone away. I enjoyed the Echo Series very much and I had fun reading this one. This doesn’t necessarily need to be read as part of the series, but if you want the complete collection do pick it up.

Prequel to Echoing Hearts and more on very much loved characters! I definitely couldn’t miss reading this one! This love story centers around Gene, Dean’s older brother and a doctor returning to visit family in GA, and an old high school connection, Amanda. After an odd accident, Gene and Amanda reconnect. Amanda had a high school crush on Gene and recognizes him right away. Gene is visiting family after being burned out and needing a chance to reconnect. Amanda, a struggling, local baker remembers Gene so she takes advantage of a mysterious predicament to her advantage. Gene starts building up his curiosity with her story after nursing her back to health. He soon becomes the small town doctor, which is quite a change of scenery for him and also ends up finding what he’s been missing, kindness and compassion. I absolutely love stories like these where people fall in love as well as find their place in the world and get reacquainted with hope and kindness.

A word of warning …. Have an ample supply of Kleenex and chocolate on hand before delving into this beautiful read ❣️📚

Jake and Mary were married and all seemed to be going well till she blind sided him and told him she wanted a divorce she said she met someone else but it wasn’t that all it was that she wanted off the ranch I think she felt the ranch always came first and I get that but I wish she told him the truth because shortly after that , she takes a fall and leaves him widowed with a newborn baby …

Jake is a brilliant daddy and he’s doing his best and there’s no doubt he loves his daughter and he’s got an amazing support system but X needs a mommas love and influence again there’s no doubt she’s loved but a momma just does things differently…

Alexa was left at the altar and I’d say good riddance because there’s so much better out there that will love her wholeheartedly and she has Biscuit 🐾🥰 her beloved and devoted four legged friend so boo hoo it’s Rodney’s loss ….

Alexa takes a vacation to catch her breath and on the way there’s a road incidents with hogs her and Biscuit aren’t really hurt but need to be checked out and guess who comes to her aid ? Dashing Jake ( and the sweet Katie’) ! Anyhoo Donna is at the house to check on Alexa while Brett will take a look at Biscuit 😍

So it seems that Donna needs to stay in the main house just for a few days and I could cut the tension with a knife ! Everything happens for a reason and I’m sorry the accident had uk happen but if ever there was a perfect match it would be Jake , Alexa , Katie and Biscuit 🥰

There’s so much to say about these people , the swear jar , the family , the comrade , the animals , the ranch hands …. It’s a read where friends become family , you laugh , you cry , you swoon , you get mad and you just get lost in between the pages ❣️📚

This is one I’ll share with friend and arm them with supplies 😉

I’ve really grown to love books by this author, and this was no exception. This is the prequel to the Echo series which I absolutely adored. If you haven’t read any of them yet, this is the perfect place to start! Amanda and Gene are one of my favorite characters I have found. Something about the way their chemistry tugs at your emotions. It’s amazing when an author can evoke those feelings through words on a page. Their meet-cute happens when Amanda is in a car accident and Gene is the hunky doctor that comes to her rescue. Although he helps her heal physically, Amanda is the one to help him mend his heart. If you enjoy contemporary romances with a dash of drama and a bit of steam, this should be your next pick!

Oh my! Toasted had me falling in love. It is the first book in the Love Burns series. I love a good Rom Com and Isobel delivers. I really enjoyed the Bluestone series, so it was a no brainer when I saw Isobel had this book out. Being the first book in the series I am not sure how it can get better, but I am sure it will.
I was laughing at the wittiness and easy banter; next I wanted a long drink to cool me down. Talk about chemistry and sparks flying in more ways than one. I fell in love with the characters and the small town of Woodvalley Pines, but Libby cracked me up the woman is hilarious.
It is just what is needed a small-town romance for everyone who loves a romance with sexy firefighters, and sassy leading ladies.
What does Disney jammies and a toaster have to do with anything, have a read to find out.
I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on the other books. Bring. It. On!

Healing Hearts: Gene & Amanda’s Story (The Echo Series) by C.R. Alam – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Healing Hearts (Echo #0.5)Healing Hearts by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Healing Hearts is the prequel to The Echo Series and tells us how Gene and Amanda first met. We were first introduced to them in previous books in the series, but this book gives us the backstory of these beloved characters. It is a contemporary romance novella with drama, suspense, gossip, mystery, intrigue, passion, romance, and witty banter. Gene Rowland is an ER Doctor who is suffering from burnout. He decides to return to his small hometown in the hopes of finding a slower paced life and rekindling his passion for helping others. On his way home he witnesses an accident as a car drives off the road. Gene stops to help and that is when he meets Amanda Garner. She swerved off the road after nearly hitting a young girl that ran out in front of her. The police, paramedics and even Gene are doubtful of Amanda’s story of the young girl. Amanda, however, is insistent the young girl is out there and needs help. She refuses medical attention but is willing to allow Gene to keep an eye on her overnight just in case she has a concussion. As the two spend time together Gene finds himself drawn to Amanda’s kindness and compassion towards others and finds himself compelled to help her in any way he can, which includes finding the mystery girl from the night of the accident. Amanda remembers Gene from high school and has been carrying a crush on him since then. As the two spend more time together the chemistry and passion between them becomes intense and explosive. As Amanda and Jean get wrapped up in the mystery of the missing girl it turns into far more than they ever expected. This book hooked me from the first few pages, and I was unable to put it down until I found out the mystery surrounding this mysterious girl Amanda had seen. Amanda and Gene were lovable characters and I enjoyed watching their growth throughout the book as their romance unfolded.

An enjoyable and engaging novella which is the prequel to the ‘Echo Series’. The story focuses on ER Doctor Gene Rowland and how he met his wife Amanda. Gene has returned to his childhood home looking to rekindle his love for medicine. He wasn’t expecting a dramatic home coming, but ends up rescuing the towns baker Amanda following a bizarre accident. Gene then helps Amanda figure out what happened and also nurses her himself. He must then juggle his role as the town’s new doctor with the growing attachment he feels for Amanda, his patient. Their developing relationship soon becomes the local gossip, however he quickly realises that he can’t deny his feelings for Amanda. It’s obvious that she’s the love of his life and will be the mother of his children. Having read the books in the series it was nice to discover how Dr Gene Rowland, who is Dean Rowland’s (from another story) big brother and Amanda met. This is a heartwarming romance with just enough drama and mystery to keep me hooked and happily turning the pages.

Toasted (Love Burns Series Book 1)Toasted by Isobel Reed
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My first book by Isobel Reed, and I devoured it! I would say a 5⭐️ and 2🔥 book! The story was great, but it definitely could have been spicier! (In my humble opinion!) 😅😅🤷🏼‍♀️

With moving to a new town, an incredibly small one at that, what could possibly go wrong? Libby’s first night, that’s what!

As Libby is getting settled into her new home, all she wanted to do is make some toast and chill. However, things do not always go as planned. Libby quickly learned that when her toaster caught on fire! Who knew an older toaster and crumb build up could cause a fire!? Certainly, not Libby!

As the firefighters begin to show up, Libby is still standing in her home, staring in disbelief. She finally comes to when the hottie fireman is coaxing her to leave the house for safety reasons. Abruptly, she realizes not only does she feel an instant spark with this firefighter who is trying to help her, but she is also wearing some of her favorite, comfy Disney pajamas. How embarrassing!

As the book continues, we realize we have one who wants an immediate commitment because the energy between them is palpable; while the other is afraid of commitment because Disney’s Princess stories are only for the films, not real life. As a pact is made to be friends, can they stay fully committed to this agreement, or will they let the heat come between them? Or, will they have to call it quits all together?

This book is a great story about resisting love because the thought of a broken heart is earth-shattering enough. To actually have to go through it? Impossible! Read to find out what happens between Libby and Zach!

This is the first book in the “Love Burns” series, and I already cannot wait for the second book to be released!

As always,
Happy Reading! 🩷

To be honest, Ms. Reed had me at hunky fireman- the rest was really just a bonus.
Toasted is the first book in the Love Burns series by Isobel Reed. As expected from this talented storyteller, it is a fun, yet touching, contemporary romance with a small-town setting, emotion, humour, endearing characters, chemistry, sparks, and just enough tension to keep things interesting.
When her toaster goes up in flames, Libby’s world gets much ‘hotter’ in more ways than one. Zack is there to put out that fire, while igniting a different kind of flame in Libby. She is the sassy damsel in distress, and he is the protective hero who swoops in to save the day. Add in some fun, banter, heartwarming romance, friendship, sass, snark, and emotion- and their story takes life.
Can’t wait for Book #2, ‘Cop-Off’, which is Cat and Cody’s story (whom we meet in this instalment as they are Libby, and Zack’s, best friends).
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isobel Reed!

This is book 0.5 in The Echo series and where the incredible series all began. This is a novella which makes it a quick read but it is still filled with everything I have come to love from this series. There is chemistry, angst, drama, mystery and of course romance.
This is Gene and Amanda’s story.
Gene is a ER doctor who after years of helping patients has lost his passion for the job he once loved. Needing a break he decides to return home. Little did he realise that decision would change his life and rekindle his passion in a way he never expected.

Amanda is a baker and when she is caught in a strange accident Gene helps her recover. Along the way he also decides to help her figure out what actually happened that day.

As the couple spend time together their chemistry grows and what Gene realises he can’t be without her, could it be possible that Amanda may feel the same?
And what could possible come of this attraction? Amanda is ready to settle down but with Gene not even knowing where he will be from one minute to the next do they stand any chance of making it work?

This is another great read in the series. I promise you after reading this you will want to read the whole series

When his manager and band mates insisted he needed some R&R, Loch Mackenzie, lead singer of successful rock band The Oath, reluctantly agreed. He wanted to feel like himself again. He wanted not to remember his dead sister’s body every time he closed his eyes. He did not want to spend a month of his summer in a small bed and breakfast in the south. That changed when he saw the sweet chaos of Hailey Prescott sprawled on her kitchen floor.Hailey Prescott deliberately built her life around her business. She had no intention of falling in love and having a family. Her two best friends were all the family she needed. But she liked being around people, so running a Bed and Breakfast made perfect sense. Everyone she met would quickly exit her life with no fuss. Her life was perfect. She was happy. Until Loch Mackenzie scooped her up off the floor and started bulldozing through her barriers.Finding Love is a story about healing from trauma and learning how to love after a great loss. Welcome to Woodvalley Pines… where hunky firefighters save the day! It’s time to turn up the heat and hope this smokin’ hot fireman can control the blaze.
Libby hadn’t even been in Woodvalley Pines a day and she was already freaking out. Her kitchen had just set on fire. From toast of all things! That’s right, she was the victim of the elusive toaster fire. Yes, a toaster. Who knew they could just spontaneously burst into flames? She certainly didn’t. If that wasn’t enough to ruin her day, a swarm of hot firefighters seeing her in her pink pajamas would do it.
Zach tried his hardest not to laugh as the woman in the Disney pajamas accused him of keeping toaster fire safety a secret. He didn’t know where in the world this angry green-eyed princess had come from, but he had to admit that he was intrigued. After all, if she had this much passion when it came to talking toasters, what other kind of flames could he stoke in her?
Libby and Zach’s spark was instant, but will the fire burn out or can they keep the flames blazing?

Make Me Want to Love You (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Make Me Want To Love You: Love in Emerald CreekMake Me Want To Love You: Love in Emerald Creek by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series. I highly suggest reading the previous book as well as it is just as great as this one. This is also an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I enjoy their writing skills as well as their ability to make the characters come to life. They are characters that are written with a lot of heart. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A small town romance with a second chance at love. I enjoyed both of these characters and what they brought to the story. They have great chemistry and attraction. They are connectable and relatable and pull you into their world with ease. This is an easy and entertaining story to read and one you don’t want to miss. Find out if Shayna and Burke find their HEA and what fate has instore for them. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.
