My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in The Oath Series. This is the first book I have read by this author but I am definitely going to be reading more. This is was such a beautiful moving romance. The author deals with topics such as grief and how that can affect someone’s life in a variety of ways creating a huge impact that some people struggle to work through.
Both of our main characters have suffered losses but together they help each other work through it and find love that they didn’t even know they wanted or needed.

Hailey Prescott has made her life her business. As the owner of a B&B she loves the fact that people come into her life and leave without any fuss or heartache. She has never thought of finding Love or a family as the business is her life. And then Loch Mackenzie comes into her life. Hailey can see and feel the sadness that Loch carries with him and plans to help him work through his pain the way she has done in the past.

Loch Mackenzie is a superstar but after the death of his sister he is struggling to move forward as the grief is all consuming. His agent books him into Hailey’s B&B to rest and recover. He can’t explain it but there is something about Hailey that makes him feel alive again.
Neither of them was expecting to find love but sometimes things happen for a reason. Could this be fate putting Loch with Hailey and giving him a reason to live again?

Cute characters, excellent banter, decent emotional swing. Wasn’t expecting all the good parts to be in the FTB, but overall a good read.

Libby has a jaded outlook on love and relationships. It is easy to see where she got it when you hear her story. After she moves into her recently deceased aunt’s home, either her luck changes or the universe is playing a joke on her. Libby attempts to make toast but the toaster bursts into flames and the fire department rushes in!

Zach never expected to meet the most amazing woman putting out a toaster fire. The woman standing in front of him in pajamas covered in Disney princesses is more than he bargained for. They each feel the immediate and intense chemistry between them. But Libby wants to keep Zach at arm’s length or as simply the best in her memories.

Zach isn’t having it. Zach consistently pushes Libby’s boundaries to get her to accept more and more of him. Until Zach wants labels and Libby won’t concede.

The heat between Zach and Libby is scorching. Wishing there was more of it on the page. Excellent way to start the series. Can’t wait to see if Cody can tame Cat!!

This is the second book in the series. I did not read the first, but I enjoyed this book enough that I plan on going back to read it. I think the reading experience would be be better but not necessary.
This book pulled me in from page one and I enjoyed the writing style. The MC is named Shayla and she is a single mom who catches feelings for her best friends business partner. His Name is Burke. And he is fantastic. He is my favorite part of this story. He treats her and her kids amazingly and the chemistry between Burke & Shayla is off the charts… HOTTT. I enjoyed them both and I was rooting for their HEA throughout the story, because they both deserved one.
I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future!
Happy Reading!

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hailey has accepted a four week booking at her Bed and Breakfast for a famous rockstar. Loch is the lead singer for the famous band, Oath. HIs manager, Alex, tells Hailey that Loch is there to heal from a traumatic event and requires extreme privacy. Hailey cuts her hand and has a panic attack from the sight of the blood. Loch finds her and helps her care for the wound. He finds Hailey attractive and feels an intense connection to her.

Hailey sets up a picnic and invites Loch to stargaze in the evening. She shares a trauma she has experienced and how she got through it. Loch opens up and confides in her, sharing his emotional pain from losing his sister. They spend several nights together comforting each other until they move into an intimate relationship. While Loch is open with his feelings, Hailey keeps her feelings hidden, believing he will leave soon.

Lacey Furr builds suspense with the inner turmoil both characters experience. They share devastating grief and guilt. Loch and Jonas are perfect gentlemen. Jonas, who is Hailey’s best friend’s fiance, threatens Loch’s like a big brother would. I found the moment humorous “F*ck with her and, well, surprises are better than threats, no?” after he expresses he likes Loch’s music. Hailey’s entire life revolves around her business that she does all the work alone.

The band members from Oath added to twists in the unpredictable plot and brought a lively dynamic to Loch and Hailey’s budding relationship. The flexibility of the band members and distinct personalities made them a vital part of the story.

I rate Finding Love a solid 5 stars and I look forward to reading the sequels that Lacey Furr creates for the members of Oath

I really loved this book! The instant connection between the two lead characters was on point immediately and I loved the humor, the romance, the character baggage…so much to love! Zach and Libby were such lovable and relatable characters and I was rooting for them from the beginning. It was a great romance story, but without the super spicy element that could’ve been there, but didn’t need to be. I thought it was a great romantic story and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This is book 1, and it got me excited for more!

Finding Love (The Oath Series) by Lacey Furr . This is a great rock n roll romance. Hailey is still mourning the loss of her parents in a tragic accident and her boyfriend thinks she is taking too much time to “get over it”. When she has the chance to buy a run down B&B she jumps on it and puts all her energy into fixing it up and reopening it. Loch is a rock star that has lost his mojo since his sister passed away and he’s closed himself off to everyone and can’t write music. His agent decides he needs to rent a whole B&B just for Loch so that he can grieve properly and hopefully start creating music again. When Hailey only has the one guest she of course pay all her attention to him and he realizes Hailey is the only person he feels comfortable with since his loss. Maybe because she is going thru her own grief. Loch falls head over heels and invites the whole band over to start creating music. As their relationship progresses will Hailey’s past destroy everything they have created? Will Hailey be able to leave the B&B to go with Loch on tour. Such a good love story with a tragic beginning.

This is a very fun read when you need a break from reality. What I love most about this book is that what Zach and Libby are going through is very relatable. I do like how Libby and Zach develop themselves emotionally throughout the story. The minor characters complement the main characters very well and provide other perspectives of what’s going on especially with Libby and Zach.

This story wrecked me emotionally and shredded my heart strings. Love, Loss and Tragedy. These two definitely deserve love and happiness after everything they have been through. What a fun installment in this series. I absolutely loved Lynn and Joey’s story. These two have the best banter and chemistry. They worked for this romance. Some old faces appear in the story. I found it to be fun. The characters are so very relatable. I couldn’t put this down. It was a little slow at first. I did find that I wished Joey would just slug Paulie. It’s a fun story that entertained me and left me feeling good. I have loved this series. Lynn has the 4 overbearing brothers that we’ve read about earlier. I loved even seeing Mango make an appearance. This is a fantastic book and you should hop on in and give it a read. You can do it standalone but I suggest you read the whole series. It’s more fun that way.

Whiskey Throttle (Moto X Series Book #6) by Brooke May – Review by Angela Hayes

Whiskey Throttle (Moto X #6)Whiskey Throttle by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Whiskey Throttle is the sixth and final book in the Moto X series by Brooke May. It is a heart-strumming contemporary romance- with motorcross, emotion, broken characters, chemistry, drama, second chances, character growth & development, banter, tension, angst, heartache, and more…
Even though this could be read as a standalone, being the sixth and final book in the series, as well as the fact that we have ‘met’ Parker in previous books (he is Paige’s twin brother/Paige (&Axle) got her story in Books #1 – 3) I really recommend reading the whole series so you get the optimum reading experience out of this story, and the series as a whole. Plus, you just might find that one book won’t be enough to satisfy your newly acquired Moto X appetite.

I’m curious to see what Ms. May might have for us next!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Brooke May!

This story had me cracking up from the very first page. Libby is so relatable. She’s curvy and she talks a lot when she gets flustered and it’s hilarious seeing how Zach reacts to it all. Their chemistry is immediate and something Zach learns quickly that he can not walk away from. But will Libby stick around in this small town long enough to realize it as well?
Was a quick and entertaining read. I cant wait to read more from this series.

This is the first book I have read by this author and so glad I took a chance, such a cute story. The writing style makes this story easy to read as well as fun to read. Looking forward to the next story in this Love Burns series.

I could feel Libby’s pain and confusion and even her frustration! Thankfully the “elusive toaster fire” brought the town fire department to her rescue. Zach being the main hero of the day and the story! These characters are real, down to earth and so sweet. The story is totally believable right down to that darn toaster! Glad there will be more for Libby and Zach and their friends!

Shayna is struggling with life, leaving her abusive ex was only the first hurdle but moving to a small town well that is another kind of strength she will need to overcome the gossip and the stories. So, when her best friend’s BFF comes back into to town as helps her can she hold her feelings for him back as she struggles with life or does she deserve happiness and help.

Burke has decided to come back home, coming back is always hard but when he sees Shayna his perspective changes somewhat. He is fascinated with her and wants to help and be there for her through the tough times ahead, but the strength of this woman is more appealing to him, and he wants to see where this chemistry between them will go but there’s one problem, Shayna herself he must convince her that he is serious and wants to see where this leads.

I love this story, the way the story weaves through the relationship with these two characters is beautiful to read. I love a book where the main male character although a Alpha male has a vulnerable side and shows this vulnerability is lovely to read. Shayna character has been through so much but her willing to restart and in the end take a chance with Burke was brilliant.

The chemistry was off the chart and although this book was a slow burn this just added to the overall story experience. The secondary characters also added to the movement of the story which had me racing through to the end to see what happened in the end. Although this is the second book in the series you can read this as a standalone story.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance (Love Ties Us)The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance by Nicolette Terry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Spicy? Yep
Sexy? Oh yeah!
Hot? Like a Tamali
Tension? Like a tight rope
On fire? Burning bright and hot

This is the spicy addition of The Music That Ties Us after all. It is a slow burn romance at first then it lights up like a fire in the night. I wonder how I have not come across this author before now.

Nicolette has a way with words that brings the story to life with superbly written characters although there were times when I wanted to shake Cadence and get her to walk away. I wondered if they would ever get their act together. They each have their own pasts to deal with, but they can’t seem to escape them. With evil exes on the scene that I wanted to do bodily harm to.

The Music That Ties Us gave me all the feels in all the right and wrong places. It is a very emotive story, and it is hard to put aside but unfortunately work had other ideas. I read it every waking minute because I was so wrapped up in the story.

I will be read other works by this author.

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one starts out and you feel like you are lost in that cardshop’s channel and this is going to be another rich guy, small town girl romance but somewhere along the way you realize that it is more than that. It is a story of second chances at life, love, friendship, and maybe even a little redemption. But with enough steam to keep you flipping those pages.

Hailey’s entire world crashes around her. Her parents are killed in an accident, she is grieving, but she doesn’t bounce back fast enough for the man she is engaged to and thinks she loves, so he leaves Hailey in the care of her best friend. As Hailey slowly puts the pieces of her life back together, she buys a dilapidated B&B. Rehabbing the B&B becomes Hailey’s lifeline.

Loch needs a break. He is the lead singer of one of the biggest bands in the world. He just lost his sister in a tragedy he is not ready to talk about yet. Loch hasn’t been himself since his sister died. Now, he just needs some space, some time to get his head together before all the pressure his manager and label are putting on him to write the next greatest hit. When Loch rents out Hailey’s B&B for some rest, he never expects to meet the one person that is the balm to his soul.

As Hailey and Loch grow closer, all the red flags from Hailey’s relationship with her ex haunt her. She is just not ready to love. Loch falls hard. He starts feeling and hearing the music again. When Loch brings the rest of the group up to Hailey’s to work before going on tour, Hailey brefriends each member. When Hailey joins the guys on the road for part of the tour, those friendships and her relationship with Loch only deepen. But Hailey must face her fears about love and relationships before she and Loch implode.

If rockstars are your thang, you wanna jump in on this series. It is beautiful and rich. It is deep and romantic. It is steamy but not too much. Jump in with this group and take The Oath!!

Shayna is doing the best she can to do right by her children. A single mom whose ex was the worst, so when Burke starts helping her out and flirting Shayna is not sure what to make of it. Burke is out of her league, he is rich and could not possibly be interested in her when she barely has it together. She couldn’t be more wrong though and when she finds herself falling hard for Burke she has to figure out if she can truly have it all.

Great chemistry, slow burn and a ton of banter that brought a smile to my face. I think this was delightful, Burke swept me off my feet. Shayna over analyzes a bit but I think it was spot on for her character as she hadn’t really dated since high school. Will be looking forward to more books in this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. It is a series that just keeps getting better and better with each book. This is the sixth book which I highly suggest reading the previous books as well as they are just as great. I enjoyed this author and never hesitate to pick up one of her books. I enjoy her ability to pull me into the character’s world with ease and keep me turning pages to the end. This book is no different. It is a well written story about how far you will go to get away from your past traumas. But what will happen when that is what could take everything away? When a choice is to be made, what will Parker decide to do? I enjoyed these characters and what they bring to the story. Parker is my favorite and he is a strong character but like everything else, he has a weakness. What happens with him is something you don’t want to miss. I found this story to be fast paced and hard to put down. There is great growth throughout the story which makes it easy to read as well as entertaining. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

If you aren’t hooked within the first few pages there is no hope for you. A woman with a burning toaster and a call to the fire department is how it all started and the entertainment doesn’t let up.

Zach a firefighter/medic is the first on the scene to make contact with Libby who has been in town an entire day before this craziness happens.

I loved the boys, they give each other a hard time no matter the reason. But when a girl is involved they all seemed to regress back to being school age boys.

This book was not too long but throughly enjoyable, and how can you go wrong with firefighters?

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding love was a good book. Both main characters know what it feels like to lose someone close to them. Loch is in a band and has been having problems writing any new music since the devastating loss of his sister. His manager decides to rent out an entire B&B to give Loch privacy and time to grieve which will hopefully get him back where he was before tragically losing his sister.
Hailey has one guest at her B&B and devotes all her time to him. They become friendly and spend some afternoons together. She knows how it feels to lose someone close to her and she tries to help him with his grief. The two of them start to have a mutual attraction to eachother which cannot be avoided. Right away I thought they acted much closer then two complete strangers but, this is a book so anything is possible. Will Loch and Hailey be able to be together or is this just a stepping stone in Loch’s healing? Hailey knows she will end up broken hearted when Loch leaves but she decides to take a chance anyway and enjoy the time they have.
I thought this was a very emotional read with some heat and healing. After everything that happens will Loch and Hailey remain friends, lovers or just people who once knew eachother. I loved how the book ended. Just perfect! I love the friendships between the characters. Nola is a perfect best friend for Hailey. Besties always do things together and this was no different.

Toasted was a very good read. I like my books with more steam in them but this was a good book. I loved the characters.
Libby had just moved into a new place she isn’t familiar with. It’s a small town where everyone knows eachother and gossip is at an all time high. Libby’s toaster decided it was going to malfunction while she’s in her tiny Disney pjs. The fire department came and right away Zach checked Libby out to
Make sure she wasn’t injured. They were talking and the chemistry was immediate. Libby wasn’t looking for a relationship but Zach wasn’t looking for a one night stand. Zach kept fighting for Libby but she kept pushing him away. This was a sweet wholesome read with lots of banter and cute moments. Will Libby ever give in to her feelings and give a relationship a shot with Zach or will she lose him for good. She wants friends with benefits but he wants a full blown relationship. Good read. Looking forward to more in this series but hope there’s a bit more heat in the other books.

Toasted is the first book in the Love Burns series, and I am totally hooked. It was a pretty short book, which was good, because I didn’t want to put it down. I don’t know what it was about the author’s writing, but it pulled me right in. The characters Libby and Zach are both strong characters, with good sense of humor and are relatable. The book starts off with Libby calling 911 for her toaster catching fire, and Zach is one of the responding firefighters. That is the start of their friendship, instantly teasing each other. I enjoyed reading the development of their relationship, and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

When Libby inherits her Aunt’s house in Woodvalley Pines, she takes it and is not sure what to expect in the small town. Her toaster starting a fire was not it though, nor was Firefighter Zach part of the plan. Zach makes his interest known from the beginning, but the feisty Libby makes it clear she doesn’t date. Zach decides to woo her friend style hoping she will eventually fall as hard for him as he is falling for her.

Delightfully fun. Libby was hilarious, she has a habit of speaking her thoughts and often times it has you laughing while you read. Loved Zach, he is determined to win Libby’s heart. Great beginning to new series.

Parker was a legend, until he wasn’t. He was once at the top of his game, until he wasn’t. He might look like he was dealing with his past, but he wasn’t. He is a hot mess.
In Brooke’s typical way Whiskey Throttle explodes onto the scene. I have fallen in love with the Moto X series. It is full of drama and angst. It is hot, steamy and sexy. The characters are complex bad boys and sassy girls, all love the same thing, fast bikes in the Motorcross world. Characters that make you hope beyond all hope and fall in love with them.
Brooke weaves a mean tale on and off the bikes that starts from the word go and nothing is off limits right through out. Even by the time you finish you want more.
Definitely a roller-coaster ride of emotions going on in this tale.
Can Parker pull himself together? I’m not going to say, that’s for you to find out.

This is the 6th book in the Moto X Series. I do recommend reading these books in order so that you get the complete story and because we are introduced to Parker in the previous books as well.

This is Parker’s story. I’ll be honestly my heart broke reading this. Parker has such a tough start in life which lead to issues with addiction, and partying until he met Megan and had his daughter.
He is trying so desperately hard to be the best man and dad he can be, however because he hasn’t worked through the issues from his past, the demons are always holding him back.
When Megan leaves him Parker starts to spiral out of control again, doing things he knows he shouldn’t and risking not only his family life but his career and everything his sister and him have created.
Parker needs help to handle his demons but until he accepts the help himself no one else can help him.
What is it going to take for him to realise he needs help to overcome his past trauma’s and the be the best dad and man he can be? Will he realise too late and lose everything?

Parker is a dark character in the sense that he has a lot of trauma and addictions to work through, however he is also a good man who is trying his hardest to be the best person he can be for the people he loves. That’s why my heart went out to him because he tries so hard but always seems to fall short which people dealing with trauma seem to do. You can’t expect to move forward and be happy if you have demons and trauma from the past to work through.

This story is gripping and thought provoking and in parts heartbreaking as Parker’s emotions and despair fly off the pages. The fight he goes through and his determination to be better is what really endeared him to me.
The author did an incredible job at making the reader feel every emotion and struggle that Parker went through.

“I don’t want you.”
“I don’t want you, either.”
Cadence is stuck. Stuck in a career she didn’t want and with a guy who might as well be a stranger now. She’s craving something, anything, that feels like the life she’s missing out on. That spark ignites unexpectedly when she ends up at a rock show, face-to-face with Damien Walker—the lead singer of Rebel Rebellion. He’s all broody and sharp edges while making it clear he wants nothing to do with her.
Funny thing, though? That only piques her curiosity more.
Damien has his own mess to deal with—a past that keeps him from getting too close to anyone, and a family that’s depending on him. There’s no time for a mystery woman, no matter how intriguing or infuriating she is. But with her fiery spirit, Cadence breaks through his walls and lights up parts of him he’d thought were long dead. He can’t have her, and yet he can’t stay away.
Breaking a few rules might just be worth it, right?
But life doesn’t play fair, and for Cadence and Damien, it seems like everything’s trying to keep them apart.
Can they fight their way back to each other with the very music that brought them together in the first place?
This book isn’t your average rockstar romance. It has a band that’s still fighting for their shot, some not-so-private intimate moments, and two people who couldn’t be more right for each other.
