Brooke May has been a Wyoming girl her entire life, most of it right here in Sheridan where the majority of her family resides. Growing up, she’s always had a wild imagination that came together to publish her first book, a cowboy romance inspired by her home and the rodeos she’s always loved attending.

Now, she continues to write where her imagination takes her with most books inspired by the scenery and beauty that is Sheridan, the Bighorns, and Wyoming. She’s a wife and mother of two and splits her time writing, playing with her kids, and of course, hiking, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling in her favorite places in the BigHorns.

The sky isn’t the limit for her and all the stories she still has to share. There’s a little bit of everything for any romance reader; cowboys to fighters, bad boys to soldiers, werewolves to romantic comedies, and even a sweet cupid series for younger readers.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Toasted (Love Burns Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed. This is such a fun spicy romance and what’s better than hot firemen??? This is the story of Libby who accidentally sets her toaster on fire and the next thing she knows she has a house full of hot firemen and she’s in her pjs. Zack is one of those firemen and he’s immediately taken with Libby. Libby is as sassy as they come and Zack can think of nothing he likes more. He doesn’t force her to want him, he lets her figure it out on her own and when she does, whewwww! Her best friends are the perfect buffer for her and keep her grounded enough that she doesn’t do something stupid. Zack isn’t really interested in a relationship but Libby might just be the one to change his mind. Such a fun and funny romance that will keep you turning the pages late in the night. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Man oh man! Such a wonderful book! You get hooked in so fast with this one! The first chapter had me cracking up! You will fall in love with these characters so quick. You’ll be yelling at them, laughing at them, and so much more while you follow their story. In this book you meet Libby and Zach. Libby has been in Woodvally Pines all of one day and she’s already caught her kitchen on fire. With toast! Yes, you read that right. Toast!! LOL. Who knew that toasters could just spontaneously burst into flames? She sure didn’t!! So she’s in shock still when the firemen come to the recue. Zach is trying to look over Libby to make sure she is okay. She’s in pink Disney pajamas, ranting about people keeping toaster fires a secret, and boy is he trying his hardest not to laugh! The spark between the two of them is instant. Only problem is Libby doesn’t date. So begins the rollercoaster of Zach trying to change her mind. Will these to burn each other before everything falls apart or will the spark ignite and last forever? These two are so cute and funny. You will really enjoy this funny romance. Plus there are hunky firefighters! 🙂

Shayna is just trying to live her life after divorce. With two kids that depend on her, she does not have time for romance or even the time to entertain the possibility. Burke shares a best friend with Shayna and cannot help but be intrigued by her. Having just been burned by an ex-fiancée, he is not sure he wants to dip his toes into the dating pool again. However, he sees what others gloss over when he looks at Shayna. Can they find their way to each other? Or will past baggage get in the way of their possible happily-ever-after?!

This was a fun book to read. I feel like the author did a wonderful job capturing single mom life, and dysfunctional family issues. I could not help but be drawn to Shayna and Burke’s story. While I cannot identify with all the aspects of this book, the human emotion captivated me. I did not pick up book one in this series and only realized about part way through that I must have missed it. It would have been nice to read the first one, but I do not feel like it was necessary as there was enough background information given throughout. If you are looking for a quick, fun, summer read, I would pick this up!

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the beginning , this is the perfect easygoing book for laying out by the water & soaking up sunshine . Such a gentle, sweet love story is as refreshing as cold lemonade along with all that sunshine . So many difficult things were handled beautifully & gracefully . There were a few things I didn’t love , like how Hailey 1st spoke about Makayla , but there was redemption for it . The healing & happiness flowing from the pages had me smiling to myself so many times lol there was a lot of foreshadowing & hinting at what the bad thing was going to be , which is very much appreciated … This was a lovely , soothing story to read , & I’m so happy to have enjoyed it !

Wow……how is my heart going to recover from this story….I am not sure. Finding Love is beautiful but yet tragic….love and loss. Two souls coming together in a chance encounter with different tragic circumstances. This story tug my heartstrings hard…but it was a wonderful story.

Loch Mackenzie is known for being the lead singer of The Oath. When his manager believes it is best for a break, especially reeling from the loss of his sister as it is getting to much to bare, Loch is booked into a B&B that is owned by Hailey Prescott. Loch comes in with a force that Hailey was not ready for….but as she gets to know Loch, her walls around her heart start to waiver. What Loch and Hailey did not realize is each of their loss of a love one can break your heart….but will they learn and find their way to healing and also love that they both deserve.

I highly recommend this story…wow….this story will stay with me for a long time.

When Libby moves to Woodvalley, Wyoming, she never expected to set her world on fire – literally. Zach, the firefighter, comes to her rescue and is immediately intrigued by the sexy Libby in her Disney pajamas. Spending time together has Libby and Zach both questioning their futures. Will Libby be able to share and overcome her past with Zach? I LOVED this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the Love Burns series. The banter between characters helps keep the book on the lighter side while still being able to explore their feelings. The side characters are well developed and I can’t wait to read more of their stories in the next book.

I’ve read Reed’s previous Love Tools series and absolutely loved it! When I saw this new book in a new series, I definitely wanted to give it a try! This first one did not disappoint! It is love centered, entertaining as well as story driven. Libby is new to Woodvalley Pines and after a little mishap in the kitchen, a fire erupts. In a moment of embarrassment, she encountered firefighters help with the fire and one in particular, Zach becomes intrigued by Libby and is eager to learn more about her. Her stories are full of sweet, funny romantic moments and deep character development. As you read along and learn more about the scenery and characters, the readers are drawn into a relatable plot. I cannot wait till the next one comes out!

I’ve only read this second book from the series so there are certain that I’ve missed from not reading the first one but I was luckily able to jump into this story without feeling so lost. Shayna and Burke’s story is the main focus. Shayna is a hard working devoted single mom of 2 kids. After many years of taking care of others and dealing with the difficult divorce/separation, she is finally so drained and not able to see how she can find someone special to share a life with. Burke is the opposite, single and very attractive, appears to be a player type as he draws lots of attention from nearby women. Shayna is determined to make things work for her when it comes to balancing her job and kids then at a last minute notice, Burke helps take care of her kids. She is very hesitant at first leaving her kids with someone who is not a parent or seemed knowledgeable enough to be in charge but when work calls she gives in. Burke not only is up for the job but he starts falling for being around family life and attraction towards Shayna. He sees how beautiful she is for who she is and how devoted she is to her children. He begins to yearn for a life he wasn’t able to have. Just a beautiful development of attraction when you least expect it!

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lacey Furr’s Finding Love follows Hailey, a healed woman running her own bed and breakfast, and Lock, famous musician and a broken man trying his best to heal. Hailey helps Loch in this process but she comes to realise he can help her just as much. At the beginning I thought it tells rather than shows a lot, and a lot happens quickly, there’s also a lot of information dumps towards the end but I was eager to know what was going to happen between the main characters and the information wasn’t really relevant. I loved Loch immediately, I loved the found family aspect, I loved how the intimate scenes were written, and I cried at the ending. My favourite character was Loch and my least favourite character was Alex. I recommend this book because he fell first AND harder, found family vibes, beautiful epilogue. Where is my Loch Mackenzie? “You are every love song ever written.” & ‘I was learning that it was these small moments in life that were meant to be remembered.’

Buckle up for a slow burn with this second chance romance. Both Shayna and Burke have a lot of baggage and they’re perfect for each other, but secrets from the past have a way of coming back when you least expect it. This book is an emotional rollercoaster, but it’s so worth the ride!

An entertaining, enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. This is book one in a new series about the “hunky” firefighters that “save the day” in the small town of Woodvalley Pines. Libby is new to the town and has a bad start when she’s the victim of a toaster fire which sets her kitchen on fire. To make matters worst she’s dressed in pink Disney pyjamas when the “smokin’” hot firefighters turn up to save the day. Firefighter Zach is half amused and half intrigued by the angry woman accusing him of keeping toaster fire safety a secret, but he’s definitely attracted to her. Libby and Zach’s instant chemistry sizzles off the page and leads to some spicy scenes, however their developing relationship may or may not be a long term romance. No spoilers, as I recommend picking up this fun, humorous, flirty book up and escaping to Woodvalley Pines for a while!

Enthralling!

This is the first book I’ve read by N.D. Jackson and I could not put it down. I feel like I finished it in record time. This close proximity romance was not only cute but attention grabbing.

Shayna is a single mom doing everything she can for her kids after the mess with her ex. Burke is a man known for his resource and is quite frankly over that label. Shayna doesn’t see herself as worthy of Burke’s attention. Burke is drawn towards Shayna and seems to have a heart of gold wanting to do whatever he can to lighten the burden on Shayna.

Finding Love is the first book in The Oath Series by Lacey Furr. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Furr- but I can guarantee that after reading this book, it certainly won’t be the last.
Gah! This strummed my heartstrings so hard. Beautifully broken characters who learned to live, and love, again after so much tragedy. Neither were expecting to find love, and healing- she was holed-up in her B & B, going through the motions of living. His life was beginning to spiral out of control from his own tragedy. Fate intervened, ensuring these two crossed paths, when Loch turns up at her B & B for some much-needed downtime to rest and recuperate. What ensues makes for a heart- tugging read.
Well worth the read.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Lacey Furr!

Toasted by Isobel Reed is book one in the Love Burns series. This is not my first story by Isobel and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Libby gets welcomed into town by all the hot Firemen, isn’t that how everyone is? At least she had clothes on! I basically fell in love with Libby. She’s someone you’d want to be friends with. I loved her inner dialogue, it was hilarious and sooo relatable. Zach was cute and sweet. I loved how he saw what he wanted and went for it but wasn’t overbearing and willing to give space. Though I thought it could use some more spice, I was obsessed with this story. It was a fun, fast read that had me laughing and enjoying it the entire time. The conflict is minimal, mainly between the characters and their own mind but the story was still great.

A wonderful and simply perfect small town romance. I love how Libby and Zack chance meet, due to a house fire caused by her toaster. That cracked me up, especially her thinking and taking allowed about the toaster. Zack is infatuated right away and I fall in love with the way he falls in love with her. His possessive moments of her are also super hot. Her reasons for not wanting a relationship are valid but, all the “love” she saw growing up was with her mom and her boyfriends, never her, she needs to take a chance. Her friends Rachel and Cat are the perfect girlfriends to have in her corner and to give it to her straight. I really look forward to Cat and Cody’s story. From the way they interact at the end of this book, I know it will be a fun ride.

Libby’s welcome to town is a toaster fire…which brings the local firefighters right into her kitchen. Zach, a responding firefighter, and Libby have instant chemistry. While Libby is trying to protect her heart, Zach’s determination to break down her walls and win her over may be just what she needs!

This is a light-hearted story with humor and, let’s not forget, hot firefighters! It was quite entertaining and kept me reading from beginning to end in one sitting. I enjoyed Libby and Zach’s characters…and we are introduced to other firefighters that I could see being the main characters in future books.

This is a second book in the series. I did not read the first, but I plan on going back to do that next! I can’t wait to see more books this author writes, and hoping that this series will continue.

This is the story of a single mom, Shayna and her best friends business partner, Burke. Right from the beginning, the chemistry is off the chart! One of the best parts though, is the relationship that Burke has with Shayna’s children. Shayna has to decide if she can be with someone that treats her the way she deserves to be treated. The story has a slow burn, and I’m here to tell you that you want to be there for it all. The author does such an amazing job of making you feel like you are in the book with them. I sure do. These have sizzling chemistry between them and holy cow did the temperature rise during certain scenes. Whew. Zack and Libby meet for the first time when Libby’s toaster catches fire and Zack is one of the Hot as sin Firefighter s that save the day. She’s a sassy little thing and he loves it. These two banter back and forth and the attraction is off the charts. Can Zack convince Libby to give into a real relationship with him? Isobel Reed is a first time author for me, but when I saw “hot firefighter” I had to pick it up! Toasted is the first book in the Love Burns Series. This was such a feel good, quick story but was still fun to read. Libby and Zach’s relationship begins when he rescues her from a burning toaster, and only gets more entertaining from there. Libby and Zach have instant chemistry that Libby attempts to resist for fear of getting hurt. This book has very little drama, lots of humor and wit, and an instant connection. It was a lot less spicy than I am used to, but it was also refreshing at the same time. The characters are realistic, believable, and oh-so-lovable while the world building is well written. I am looking forward to the next book in the Love Burns Series as well as other books by Isobel Reed!

Some sizzling chemistry too. Secondary characters that are “the Bomb”! The author setting us up for the next couple books….I can’t wait for more!

This is the perfect sized book. It’s funny, honest and has delightful moments between the two MC. It is relatively low on drama although I figured more would have happened with the whole ranch thing. It has a nice build of characters who are easy to like. As I said I look forward to more especially seeing how one pair has such fire between them.

She’s a small town girl who is a single mom and she got away from her ex-husband who was abusive. I love Emerald Creek and can picture myself living there. Burke wants to show her she can be loved by a good man. These two are great. They both are guarding there Hearts but for different reasons. I don’t want to give to much away. Finding Love (The Oath Series) by Lacey Furr – Review by Beverly Finnie

Finding Love (The Oath Series)Finding Love by Lacey Furr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finding Love was tragically beautiful. It’s the beauty of romance/healing born out of a tragedy. The author wrote a story that pulls at the heartstrings. About two characters who have lost people close to them they love. They just happen to be at different stages of the healing process. Yet through that process came love.
Loch hasn’t been the same since his sister died. Needing to get his life back on track his band manager contacts Hailey, a B&B owner, to give him some time away. Some time to find himself. Not only did he start to find himself again, but so much more.
Hailey didn’t know what to expect. What she knew was her high profile guest rented out her entire B&B for 4 weeks. An opportunity she couldn’t pass up. However, being around Loch she saw a lot of herself. The part of herself that suffered when she lost her parents and her best friend helped her pick up the pieces. So she vows to do the same thing for him.
What neither one of them expected was this connection pulling them together. With so many uncertainties because of their separate lives, how they could weather the storm. Was this forever? Or savor the moment while it lasts?
He doesn’t want to let go but is it plausible?
She knows he’s leaving yet giving him her heart, knowing it’s going to be shattered.
What will happen?
Do they survive the differences in their lives?
So many questions and all of which do get answered. However to find those answers you need to jump in head first. Take the ride the author takes the reader on. Enjoy it for all that it’s worth.
The happiness, sadness, love, laughter, all of it is worth it. I look forward to digging more into this series, I think you could too!
