A Tale of Two Crushes by Cori Cooper follows Holland as she enters a new school and discovers not one but two hot guys in a matter of days. Coming from a smaller town, Holland is not used to running into guys that she hasnt known since kindergarten and are interested in her. Things get complicated as she navigates life in a new city, new friends, and brothers?! This book was filled with quirky characters and a relatable heroine. I found it to be a pleasant afternoon read that was perfect for a clean romance.

He’s super cute and he makes her heart jump. Little does she know, they’re twins! And things get a little crazy. Now Holland has to figure out which boy she wants to date. She has a hard time deciding and they’re very competitive.

Holland Morriss is a young woman whose family has just had to move midway through the school year so that they can care for her grandmother, so she is super nervous on her first day at school. As usual, she is her usual klutzy self and trips up before she has even gotten to the front door and unfortunately, the most gorgeous guy sees and offers to help her find her way. It turns out that he is an assistant in the front office and can help her with everything she needs, she also finds out she has a class with him, but when he invites her to have lunch with his friends, they make her feel at home straight away.
As she is mulling her first day over in her mind, she gets to her locker and finds that she can’t open it, just another embarrassment to add to her collection, however, the most perfect looking, male model type guy walks up as she is venting all her fury and helps her to open it. However, when he asks her out, she is stunned and stutters a yes, but the problem is that his friends are there as well, it’s a home movie night and although he is holding her hand, his friends make her feel uncomfortable and so she leaves early.
These two events lead to confusion and mixed emotions as she finds that the two crushes she has are not only gorgeous, but they know each other, well! Now she has to make the choice between them, but will she choose the hotter than possible, or the smart one who is only ever so slightly less hot? This is a sweet coming of age story where nothing is as complicated as first crushes and hormones collide in this comedy romance of the high school variety.

A Tale of Two Crushes is such a sweet romance. Holland is the new girl in school and meets two different guys in her first two days at her new school. Little did she know that her two crushes were twin brothers with completely opposite personalities. Holland is a huge book nerd, who loves eating healthy, natural foods, and wants to be a nurse once she finishes school, which she hopes to do on a fast track. Asher, the first twin she meets is so similar to Holland that he seems like the perfect guy until he doesn’t respond to her messages. Chandler, the guy she meets the next day is cute beyond anything she could imagine, but he seems to be very self-centered, hates books as well as vegetables, and recently broke up with his snobbish girlfriend. The twins have had a constant battle with one another since they were very young, so when they both realize they both have their sights on dating Holland, the war begins, and she’s in the middle. Which boy will Holland choose to be with, or will she choose to go with neither due to their constant battles? You’ll want to read the book to find out what’s going on with both of these boys and who Holland chooses. Happy reading my friends, this is a great young adult book for all you romance fans who are looking for a soft romance. @Brandy Rymer 10/2024

Holland Morriss has recently moved to Prescott, Arizona after her grandmother was hurt. Her parents decided that they needed to be closer, hence why she now resides there. On her first day of school she meets Asher and instantly starts crushing on him. It seems as though the feelings are mutual so they exchange numbers. However, that all comes to a screeching holt when she texts him and never hears anything back. Why is he ghosting her all of a sudden? A few days later she is having a not so quiet argument with her locker and meets his twin, Chandler. She unwittingly ends up crushing on him as well not knowing that he is her other crushes brother. As she and Chandler get to know one another things come to a head when he invites her to the lake with his family and she comes face to face with Asher who is crushed. From there things between the boys get heated. They have always had a rivalry, but Holland has never had two guys vying for her attention. At first she enjoys all the attention but realizes that it isn’t doing them any good as things slowly escalate and things turn to chaos. She takes the opportunity to sit down with the twins and figure out if she wants to be with either of them. No matter which one she chooses, they other will be hurt. Will she choose to date one of them or choose to be single for the rest of her high school career?

I loved the story line and all the quirky characters in this book, I highly recommend giving it a read! It was very well written and descriptive, it made me feel like I was right along side the characters. Losing yourself in a book like you’re watching a movie doesn’t tend to happen often, but it’s totally worth it when it does. The main character moves to a new town and starts a new school. This book is her story.

This was such a cute, romantic teen story! Starting her junior year, Holland moved to Arizona from Colorado. Growing up in the same town all her life had its advantages of developing friendships like with Alicia but as far as romance, it was nonexistent. As she starts her first day, she starts taking in all the differences from her old school. She bumps into Asher, who is so kind and helpful on her first day. Extra points for him being cute! They have their own ups and downs and they test their interest in one another. Then there is Chandler, who helps her in her time of need. She starts getting to know him. Then after a family gathering, she discovers Asher and Chandler are fraternal twins. What are the chances? Now you have to read to see where her intentions will lead to. Such a clean cut, adorable teen tale!

Honestly at first I thought the book was a little cringy. Now I did feel that her and Asher did have a good connection but still cringy. Do not let me saying that push you away from the book because it gets better! The characters are great; seriously the friendship was the best, Tenley was my favorite. Holland was a great main character, it was great that she could admit she enjoyed getting attention from both boys, who wouldn’t. I loved that she agreed about them acting like idiots, I was glad their “hotness” didn’t blind her in that area. And then I was so happy for her when she finally started to think about her own wants. Runway careers is such a cool idea, I wish my high school did something like this. Overall the it’s a great read for younger readers/ya readers. It’s humorous, ambitious characters and a little romance. 100 percent recommend.

A Tale of Two Crushes by Cori Cooper is a great romance book
Holland Morriss has never really met a guy she could crush on. It makes sense. She lived her whole life in the same town with the same people. It’s just really hard to have a crush on someone you’ve seen eat crayons in kindergarten. Then at the start of her junior year of high school, her family makes a sudden move to a whole different state. Holland’s new life plan is to keep her head down and graduate early so she can hightail it back to Colorado and start college with her best friend Alicia.
Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. The story really transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down

“A Tale of Two Crushes” by Cori Cooper is a delightful, heartwarming read that perfectly captures the whirlwind of teen emotions and the joy (and chaos) of first love. Holland Morriss is an incredibly relatable protagonist whose internal struggles between two perfect crushes will resonate with readers. Cooper’s writing is fresh, witty, and filled with humor, making it impossible to put down. The story not only explores romantic dilemmas but also themes of self-discovery and friendship, with lovable characters that you root for the whole way through. A sweet, fun, and utterly charming YA romance!

Holland is new to school and is running late on her first day. Luckily she runs into Asher who is able to help her find the office and then he gives her a tour of the school. Chandler comes to her aid when she has issues with her locker. Finding out that Asher and Chandler are fraternal twins further complicates things. Both boys are handsome and kind and helpful and Holland finds herself wanting to be with them both. This book will make you feel like you are BFFs with the main characters are that you are right there in the story. Pull up a comfy chair and relax as you will not want to put this down.

A Tale of Two Crushes had me rolling with laughter from start to finish. I really loved it, and am trying to get my teen daughter to read it too (She isn’t a reader, but I know if this was a movie/show, she would be all over it). Even describing the story to her, SHE was cracking up. I love the little details the author added to let us get to know each of the characters. Holland is just as unique as her name. She is quirky and fun, and her mom’s imposed diet is unique as well. She moves to a new city (which I love is in Arizona, because like the author, I live in Arizona) and soon starts crushing on 2 boys. Then, in the funniest (to us, awful for her) twist brings a whole new level of hilarity. Asher is such a sweet boy, and Chandler has his moments… but I was Team Asher all the way. I don’t know if the runway careers project is real or not, but I absolutely love the idea and want it to be real. Highly recommend this book. Probably one of my favorites of the year.

A Tale of Twp Crushes is a fun and clean YA romance. Holland Morriss is the new kid in school who finds herself with not one but two crushes. This was a fun story to get into. I could easily relate to Holland having been the new kid several times. The characters were entertaining and the relationships were great. The story was well-written and easily drew you in. This book is great for those who love YA and remember their high school crushes/experiences.

Right from the start, this was one of the cutest and easiest to read books I’ve picked up in awhile. I was instantly right there in the parking lot with Holland, feeling her emotions and starting at a new school. I loved the mention and description of all the emotions, almost giving them their own personas. Asher and Chandler are their own beast. The rivalry between them runs deep and has the whole school picking sides, as Holland quickly finds out. I love Holland’s group of friends Asher invited her into. I was excited to see what Dara would dress up as next and loved how fierce and determined Tenley was. Absolutely loved this book. Definitely worth the binge read.

Due to an incident with her Grandma, Holland has to up and move to Arizona, despite living in Durango her entire life. She had to start over at a new school and make new friends. On her first day she meets Asher, and sparks fly immediately. But a few days later she meets Chandler and he also has good qualities. She soon finds out these two boys are twins and are known to compete against each other. She doesn’t want to be another one of their trophies but she is still fairly attracted to them both. So they cut a deal and try to win her over. This story had me laughing out loud and I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the characters and writing. Being from Arizona myself made this even better. Will definitely read more from this author.

Holland has moved to a new city with her parents so they can help her grandmother after she fell. Unfortunately for Holland that means a new school and having to make new friends. Her first day at school she meets Asher who seems to be pretty perfect for her but after giving her his number he never texts her back when she sends him a message. So instead of letting it get her down she meets Chandler after she is trying to have a heart to heart with her locker that refuses to open. Come to find out Chandler is Asher’s twin brother and things just start to go downhill from there. Holland now has a choice, Chandler who seems to good to be true and beyond perfect or Asher who Holland has more in common with and actually knows more about her. Who will she choose?

This is one of my favorite go to authors, her style of writing along with amazing characters always makes for a wonderful story. Her characters are fun, creative, relatable and fully developed. They really made the story come to life. I’ve read several books by this author and this may be a favorite yet. Holland doesn’t usually have any problems with guys but now she’s crushing on not just one but two guys. They have great chemistry between them. I don’t want to give anything away so I’m gonna highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

I love stories by this author! They are clean, quirky, and full of fun! You don’t have to be a young adult to appreciate the writing style and stories either! Holland just moved from Arizona to Colorado and the adjustment is a bit. The climate change alone would do me in but add in teenage angst, trying to fit in, and life in general. It’s a familiar scene for anyone who’s been a teenager before! I felt like I was there in the hallways with Holland and her friends, but I really never ever want to go back to high school!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was really well written and so descriptive to where the characters feel like my besties and the whole thing was being acted out in front of me. Being able to just lose yourself in the book but not feel like you are reading more like watching a movie unfold, is amazing. I wasn’t able to put the book down because I had to see how things went and what happened next. There are points where it is almost like watching a tennis match, where your head whips from each side of the court, because you are caught up in who will the leading female choose. Each of the crushes have amazing qualities but you also get to see a little ugly because let’s face it, when it comes to a little competition, there is always some ugly. It is in those ugly moments where you feel for the characters and the book becomes more real to the reader. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I would highly suggest this book to anyone looking to be entertained and have an escape for a little bit, this is where they should go. I can’t wait to read more from this author because if they are anything like this book, I won’t be disappointed. Reviewed by: @bbohls

What a great YA story! A Tale of Two Crushes is a cute, clean romance. The main character, Holland, moves to a new city with her family and falls for twins! The characters and their relationships (romantic and platonic) were very relatable. The relationship between Asher and Holland made me smile constantly, it really reminded me of a first love story. Holland seems very obsessed with emotions and feelings to the point they become overbearing. Overall a great read.

This was a very fun, quirky YA clean romance. This author never fails to impress me with their story telling and the ability to bring the characters to life making you feel like they could be your friends (well when I was a teenager lol) As expected for a YA story it is full of drama and teenage angst as they all go through their lives trying to discover themselves as well as dealing with the confusion times that life sends our way. Holland has never had a crush before. Growing up where she has it’s a small place and everyone knows everyone so she hasn’t really taken an interest in boys. That is until her family moves and she now finds herself with not one but 2 crushes. Of course things aren’t simple and with teenage boys being teenage boys it’s not always straight forward as Holland tries to work out and through her feelings, as well as meeting new friends and changing relationships with her family. This bring back memories of my teenage years and all the fun times as well as the times when I never really had a clue what was going on. Joining Holland and her friends as they try to untangle things and make sense of it all while developing themselves at the same time was a great read

This was a fun quick read. Holland finds herself at a new school her junior year in high school. She also finds herself crushing on two guys. She didn’t realize the drama having a crush on these two would cause., but in all fairness the drama isn’t her fault. She made some good friends even though she misses her friends from her old school. This author wrote an excellent YA romance that I think young adults will enjoy. This is a must read if you want to find out which crush Holland chooses. I look forward to reading more books by this author. I recommend this book.

A family situation moved Holland and her family to a new town and therefore she has to go to a new school. The allure of not being around the same people as she has been for the past decade means she is free to crush on someone new. This story if what happens when she finds herself crushing on not one, but two guys!
A Tale of Two Crushes was fast-paced and dropped the reader back in high school right along with Holland. Holland was a fun character and all her new friends were fun and easy to follow too. There was teenage drama, lots of angst, tension you can feel, and the making of the best of friendships forged in this story. It’s a good clean YA read.

A Tale of Two Crushes by Cori Cooper is a fun Young Adult novel about Holland Morriss, a high school junior, who moves to a new school in 11th grade and almost immediately is pursued by two different boys, who let’s just say have “history.” While this is seemingly flattering, for Holland, this sets off an exploration of her own identity and what she really wants out of life. Before this situation, Holland followed life in a linear way, following her best friend and seemingly very directed and focused. Now in a new city she starts to explore what she really wants from life and which of these 2 boys is the one she want to spend time with.
I enjoyed this book. One thing I loved about the book was the way Holland considered her emotions. They were written as if they were people in her life: Anxiety, Fear and Confidence were regular residents of Holland’s brain. It was very clever and also, very real.

This was a cute and wholesome story. So often even the young adult books are more detailed than they should be and not geared towards anyone that young.
Holland is the new girl at school after moving from Colorado. She doesn’t know a single person, that is until a knight in shining armor stepped in to show her around. If only their story was as smooth and easy as their meeting, without the awkwardness.
Holland misses home and her friends but seems to settle in well in her new school, friends and town. Friends are the best and if you’re lucky you can find your best friend like I did mine all those years ago.
The sibling relationships were dead on accurate and may have made me kaufg a few times.
While I was a little older than the target age group I enjoyed Holland’s story and her group of friends.
