This has everything you could possibly want and MORE! There is so much going on in this book and yet it is SO well written it isn’t overwhelming. This is the perfect combination of a streamy romance, psychological thriller, murder mystery and military thriller all in one. I don’t know how McKinley does it but she manages to not only make all these genres work, but excels at writing a gripping, “edge of your seat” storyline which I could not get enough of.
The character connection is evident from the first few chapters and the intensity and drama between them continues throughout. McKinley teases you for such a long time with the idea that Riley and Xander may become an item, but due to their troubled pasts you’re never sure if this is really going to happen, but you desperately want it to and are cheering for them the whole way through.
The mystery part of the novel has so many twists, leaving you constantly thinking you’ve got it figured out when you really haven’t. I think it took me 3 separate twists to finally work out what was happening here. The twist was original and very well done with subtle hints throughout the book which you might miss if you were reading too quickly – which would be easy to do with this book!
This is my first McKinley novel and I am blown away, I have the next book in this series already downloaded and I can’t wait to start it and continue this gripping story.

Bound by Secrets is book two in the Deadly Isles Series. Was excited to read and was not disappointed again. Best read after book one. Prepare to be up all night with this one, I was held from page one. Very well written and is an amazing suspenseful romantic story full of secrets, twists and turns. Kayla is a free lance writer, who is on the run from an abusive partner. She is desperate for a place to stay and stays with her brother’s best friend. Also, who is an old flame. Jaxon is retired from the Navy and temporarily employed as a police officer, filling in for Kayla’s father. The chemistry between these two characters definitely jumps off the pages and you will be rooting for them. Most certainly will not be the last book I’ve read by this author. Eager to read the next book in this series.

Killer Blonde by Allan Evans is a fast paced thriller- a tense game of cat and mouse between a season cop and a psychopathic serial killer. There is quite a lot going on here- with murder, mystery, hidden agendas, plots, politics, rivalry, a lot at stake, dramatic developments, danger, tension, and even a little romance. Ok, so I am not going to lie- this book had me thinking about it long after I finished, debating how I should rate and review it. There was quite a lot of promise held in the title, premise, and intriguing cover. While the overall story was quite enjoyable and did ‘deliver’ on some of the potential of the story- other elements and issues detracted from what would otherwise have been a 5+ Star rating. Cade Dawkins is at the top of his game. A seasoned detective with a string of high profile case closures under his belt. When a couple of unusual road accidents raise some concerning questions, Cade’s investigation opens up a can of worms. A serial killer is operating in the area, disguising his murder spree as car accidents. His victim(s) of choice- beautiful, tall, blondes. But we soon discover that there is far more to the story than first meets the eye. With a hidden agenda that makes the stakes even higher, Cade will need to outwit and outplay his cunning opponent, before it’s too late. The story is told from a duel POV- giving us both Cade’s and the killer’s point of view- which gives the reader a well-rounded perspective of all the developments. But, we did discover the identity of the killer only half way through the book, which I felt took away from the tightly woven tension that the author was building quite effectively up to that point. And while the rest of the story was intriguing, I felt that knowing the identity of the killer made the last half of the book less intense and suspenseful than it could have otherwise been. Overall, the story was tightly woven- with obvious research and attention to detail. But then there are some really cliché elements, attempt at adding humour using tired ‘jokes’ we’ve all heard a hundred times before, things that have done the rounds for years as memes and social media posts. As well as there being obvious police procedural errors- and I am no expert by any means, but I doubt a top cop and his detective partner would be discussing highly sensitive case details in the presence of a civilian, let alone the 17 year old relative of one of the murder victims- no matter how much she wanted to help (just as an example). At times the author used some odd word phrasing, which pulled me out of the story as my mind rearranged the word to make more sense. There are also a LOT of characters to keep track of- 65+ named characters either playing a direct role or who were referred to in the story – not to mention a slew of unnamed characters, too. There were a few other minor issues, which in the end I had to acknowledge in my final rating of this book. Don’t get me wrong, this is an enjoyable story- but I felt the author missed the opportunity to take this story to the next level as this story really does have the potential to be quite an exciting and stellar read. Looking forward to seeing what Mr. Evans does next.

Don’t judge a book by its cover alone. While the cover has a great eye catcher, its the blurb that gets you more interested in the novel. While reading this novel, I kept thinking that it is so far from a typical romance novel based on the cover. It has action, sadness, regret, you name it. While the male character may be on the front of the novel, it’s female character that really pulls you in. Who doesn’t like reading about a fragile yet strong female? Amy McKinley is a talented and superb author and her Deadly Isles Op series is just as great.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) Audio Book by India Kells 4 Stars!!!!
I have no listened to the audio book and I have to admit that it really does add to the book and experience. The narrator does such a great job not only with different accents and voices but also with emotion and feeling in the reading. I really find the choice of narrator a good choice. Sometimes it can be a toss whether or not audio will add but in this case it definitely did. I really enjoyed this second reading of the book and as in most cases found new things that I had overlooked when reading the normal book.
I have read another series by this author and I have to say that I was not let down with this new series. I really like the author’s style and find her plot very original. I also like how the characters just really come to life and just seem to jump off of the page.
I like how there is drama and intrigue along with romance. All the elements are very balanced and the book really just flows. I was not able to put it down. I really like how Orla works with the vigilanty and how their connection blooms. I like how there is a crime element to the romance and that both genres really blend together to a great start to a series. I will read more from this author in the future and this series.

Wow where to start with this book. There is literally such going on that it takes you on an amazing rollercoaster of a ride. Just when you think you have it worked out it changes again taking you up and dropping you down. The characters are really well written then you feel completely invested in their story and emotions.
Daughter is a successful psychiatrist. She knows she’s been adopted but little does she realise her father is a serial killer. When she find out it turns her world upside down and with a threat to kill her family she tells no one her secret.
Dolan works with the FBI. He’s certain something strange is going on with regards to the serial killer as there seems to be more bodies turning up but no one believes him. He is sent to a psychiatrist to work through his issues and that’s when he meets Daughter.
The twos story is entwined long before they meet and their futures are even more twisted together. However there is a lot of heartache, despair, fear and eventually happiness along their journey with makes it a story you can’t put down.
Capturing Fate By Abbie Roads ☆☆☆☆☆ This is the perfect suspenseful romantic story. In front of your fireplace, doors locked tight and a glass of wine to help calm your nerves. This is one of the scariest stories I have read in a longtime. Don’t get me wrong, you will love it. Dolan and Daughter. Dolan Is a FBI agent who is trying to keep his mind together as he finds a gruesome killer. Daughter is a psychologist who is trying to help Dolan and stay alive herself. As there is nowhere to run and hide. They must face danger together to save both of them. Will they survive and capture this killer? No spoilers here.
Abbie Roads…..Thanks for this fast paced, edge of your seat story. I only checked the doors half a dozen times while reading. This story is well written and will give your emotions a run for their money. I love a book that can keep me intrigued and scared at the same time. You will fall in love with the characters in this story. Daughter is a strong independent woman and Dolan is a protective strong willed man. Together they make this story complete. I look forward to reading more from this author! Job well done Abbie Roads. Well Done!
Capturing Fate is the 2nd book in the Fatal Truth series by Abbie Roads. When I read this book I was not aware that there was a book that came before it and I certainly didn’t feel that I was lacking in any information when reading this one. This was my first time reading this author and I’m always wary when trying out a new author. I needn’t have worried as I loved this book. I will say that it took me a little time to get into the book. When I read the first few chapters I just didn’t get the feel of it. So I put it down to try again later. When I picked it up later I was hooked into the story very quickly and did not want to put it down. I just put it down to me not being in the right frame of mind because this story had me totally gripped. For me the best part of the book is the section that takes place on the island. Daughter’s interaction with the men on the island really grabbed me and was the ultimate page turner. This book is filled with so much danger, drama, suspense and intrigue. The author does a fantastic job of weaving a compelling story. Add to that the romance between Daughter and Dolan and this book was just everything I enjoy in a book.

Rebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall is a paranormal crime story. It took me a little bit to get into but once it got going it really took off. Jessica definitely takes us on a journey that is full of mystery and intrigue. It is cleverly woven together with great characters. Murder, mystery and mayhem. Ghosts, lies, and secrets and a couple of twists along the way make for a compelling read.
Everything you thought you knew has just been stomped all over. Embracing one’s self to all you can be is hard when you don’t know if it is a gift or a curse.
I am a suckere for a good romance but with the added drama and mystery yeah I’m in love! I love how the attraction between the main character’s is there right from the start I mean you can feel it gravitating of the page it’s certainly intense! I was lost amongst their world which right now is a blessing to escape reality. I would 10000% recommend this novel absolutely brilliant!

This is a romantic suspense book coming in at about 300 pages. This story follows Dolan, an FBI agent, and Daughter, a psychologist. Dolan’s childhood was spent in foster care and those experiences have helped him become who he is today. He prides himself on being able to solve cases at lightening speed. Until this one. This case is so evil and utterly confusing, he needs to seek help (or is forced to) – this is where Daughter comes in. Instant attraction, but Daughter needs to keep it professional. Two years later, Daughter is forced to contact Dolan for help. Both are harboring secrets – will they bring them closer or tear them apart?
Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 2) by Amy McKinley was a story full of suspense and a dash of romance. There are so many adventures and so many twists.
Kayla ran away from her abusive ex boyfriend and ran to the arms of the person she least expected. Jaxon who assumed he would never get a second chance. The secret that stands between them would they ever get a chance to work things out?
The unknown and the thriller excited me in every chapter. The love story that blossoms in the book drove my desire to finish it that much quicker. Putting the book down was near impossible.
This is the second book in the series and it’s just lovely how we get to know the story of another character from the first book.

Rebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall is book that is steeped in mystery and intrigue. It will suck you in right from the word go, making it hard to put the book down. I couldn’t wait to unravel this mystery and figure out what was going on. The author does a great job of building the story up, pushing you a bit further and a bit further with each new discovery. I liked Tessa as a main character, I thought she brought the perfect balance to the book. It felt like it was with her the whole way, taking the journey alongside her. This really is an excellent book and one I would say you should try today!
Killer Blonde by Allan Evans is a fast paced, action packed story. The author has created a book that is full is suspense but also has a lighter side to it so Tom get a bit of everything with this book. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it really easy to connect with the main character in his search for the killer. I also enjoyed the way the author described everything – it made it so easy to visualise what was happening. For me I felt the story slowed down in pace a little in the second half but by that point I was invested in it so it didn’t impact on my enjoyment. This is a great book full of twists and turns. I can’t wait to discover more of this author in the future.

Aiken-Hall has done it again – she is firmly proving herself to be a master at a suspense filled drama. This storyline sent me on quite a journey of emotion. I loved every page and connected immediately to the characters. The twists and turns keep you glued to the pages – I loved this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.

It is a story that will have you thinking about it long after you have finished it. Secrets are uncovered. Abbie has given us a tale that is well written, with lots of action and adventure. It also has some paranormal sci-fiyness to it.
Dolan Watts is undercover and sees something he shouldn’t have but at the same time no one believes him. Now he is caught in a game where the players don’t know they are being played.
This book is a little twisted but it will keep you riveted by the twists and unknown as the story unfolds.
Killer Blonde by Allan Evans is a psychological thriller. A serial killer on the loose and the best detective who is on the case. Allan is a new author to me and the story started out smack bang into the thick of things. It is fast paced and has a lot of twists and turns. The killer was revealed quite early which took some of the intrigue from the story. The writing reveals the story layer by layer a bit like Law and Order. You can tell that it has been well researched. The characters where just that, characters. I felt there was little back story to them which made it harder for me to connect. But for all that, it was a straight on cat and mouse thriller where good triumphs over bad and in the end the cops get their guy.

As with all of Amy’s books they are so easy to sink your teeth into and get lost in a great story and this one is no exception. It has a myriad of twists and turns and thrills to spill. The fear and chaos, drama and suspense will have you rooted to the spot, waiting for what happens next, biting your nails and heart beating fast.
Jaxon and Kayla have a painful past but she needs a safe haven and right now he is it. Secrets and danger comes to light that could have deadly consequences for everyone. This story takes quite a dramatic turn of events.
If you are looking for something that has it all then Bound by Secrets is a must.

Omg where to start with this book. It was so good I couldn’t put it down. It had me gripped from the first page to the last and I never wanted it to end. The characters are so well written and the twists and turns are so good that you don’t ever see them coming.
Tessa has a gift. She can see and communicate with spirits. When a persistent spirit trys to communicate with her it turns Tessa’s life upside down. No one who is she thinks they are. Things she knows are facts turn out to be lies. The man she loves and marries has a secret side.

I have listen to lots of audiobooks over the last few years, especially while working and discovered very early on that the narrator could make me love or hate the book regardless of the story.
Mr. Price did a great job reading and the voice modulator was a great touch. I would get so lost in the story that I would just stop doing everything else and listen.
Great story and narration which I throughly enjoyed every minute of.

Hot Navy Seals? I’m in! Twisted Secrets is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. Lust at first sight is what pulls Riley Evans in but is totally skeptical. Riley typically attracts me who are completely wrong for her. That is until she meets Navy Seal Xander Hale. The attraction is clearly undeniable. However, Riley doesn’t automatically give in to her attraction. However, Xander keeps pursuing her and she eventually gives in. Then things get a little hanky and needs Xander’s help to keep her safe and alive. There were so many twists and turns that made this book completely unpredictable, which was so awesome. The chemistry between them slowly smolders until it begins to flame. When it does it is hot and steamy! It was definitely a page-turner that I absolutely did not want to put down. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in the series! This series is going to be awesome!

Do you love murder mysteries involving serial killers? This is the one to read! Capturing Fate is written by Abbie Roads and it is completely enthralling. Dolan Watts is an FBI agent that has a boat load of demons that he is battling. Not to mention the number of enemies that he has obtained over the years as an agent. To help him he meets Psychologist Daughter Dawson. Just like Dolan, Daughter is battling her own set of demons. When she unlocks those demons, things start to happen and a serial killer emerges. The chemistry between these two is pretty electric. It was super exciting to see these two battle their demons together. This was definitely a page turner! So full of suspense and psychological twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. I was so glad to see that this turned out to be a HEA. I don’t think that I would have been happy if it wasn’t. I was super impressed with this read and I can’t wait to read more from this author!
A very fast paced read revolving around a murder mystery, Murder at Lolly Beach is about Eve Sawyer, a journalist student who is invited to a vacation to a beach by her close friend. Eve goes to the beach without any hesitation to have some peace time, but instead finds herself in the middle of a murder when the truck of her chef friend meets with an accident and her friend goes into a coma. The local reporter, Jake, invites Eve to investigate the case along with him. And then starts the cat and mouse chase to find the murderer, who seems to be always one step ahead of them and keeps wiping off all the clues and the witnesses.
Tension mounts as the plot goes through a lot of twists and turns till the murderer is revealed. A gripping plot, pleasant characters and an easy read, I liked this book. I am thinking of going back and reading book 1, which I haven’t yet.

Twisted Secrets is the first book in Amy Mckinley’s Deadly Isles Special Ops series and once I got into it (which didn’t take too long) I could not put the book down. I was first introduced to Amy McKinley’s writing from her Gray Ghost series and when I noticed she had another series with attractive military men and likeable female characters, I couldn’t resist. As I’ve come to expect from this author, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed that the writing style showed the storyline from both Xander and Riley’s perspective and that each character had a lot of background details that didn’t just surround their relationship. Both characters were really likeable and I wanted them to have happiness. I don’t read many romance novels because I am more drawn to thrillers or suspense novels so to find a book that has a little bit of everything is awesome. Especially knowing there is more to be read in a series. Another great book from Amy McKinley, 5 star recommendation from me.

Murder At Lolly Beach: An Eve Sawyer Mystery by Jane Suen was a really good read. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect going into this novel, this is the first I’ve read from this author, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was a really good read, but also just kind of bland to me. It didn’t grab my attention and hold me that I expected it would. I’m not sure why, because I was expecting a little bit more. It felt not rushed exactly, but a little hurried. It was a very quick read and an easy read. Th characters were interesting as well as the plot. It did have a twist to it. I thought it was pretty predictable up till the end. All in all this was a solid read and I would definitely read more from this author in the future.

This author does it again! She WOWed me and I became obsessed with this book! I couldn’t believe what was happening…with just about every swipe of the page! Envision….eyes bugging out of head and mouth dropped open! I kept repeating what…the WHAT?
Shocking and surprising are the two words I would say describe this story. I couldn’t stop the expressions flitting across my face or the stuttering of words coming out of my mouth. (See above 😉)
This book is closely intertwined with the first book in the series. A lot of the same characters with the two main ones telling a story of their own. I have no words to say about them other than devotion and stunned! Figure that out!
While the story might be crazy, fascinating and MIND BLOWING it ends on a happy note with me ginning my face off. (A great epilogue always does me in!)

This started off pretty interesting, thought the idea of The Vigilante had an echo of batman to it which piqued my interest. Don’t really know how I felt about the romance aspect of it as I thought it was a tad unbelievable, it moved far too fast for me, getting hot and heavy before either character had really had time to land. I mean I had some pretty awesome impressions of Orla when first introduced; strong-willed, savvy, and smart, but then she very quickly makes some decisions that had me baffled. I will say that I am not keen on these types of stories but for those that do like the steamy stories this is for you, with the added spice of the danger and the thrill of a mystery. The narration is pretty good too and kept me interested. I find that sometimes if the narration isn’t that good, I will switch off and struggle to take in the tale, but there was no issue with this, Price was engaging and a great storyteller. With all those things said I will say that Kells has penned a really interesting tale, I just wish there had been more of the aspects that interested me. Anyone that likes a good smoldering romance with all the beats and action of a thriller will love this.

Murder at Lolly Beach has just as much suspense and mystery as book one. Once again Eve Sawyer cant stay away from a good investigation. But this time she ventures out to the beach to visit her friend when a mystery just lands on her lap. Eve is a stubborn young woman who will always find a way to get involved whether her help is wanted or not. This can be read as a stand alone, but if you enjoy this then you should read book one.

I have to say, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first in the series, I did still enjoy the story line though. I loved seeing how ambitious Eve was once again. Even on holiday she was willing to drop everything just to help out with a local crime. I really enjoyed the dark twist at the end, I would never have guessed that happening.

Murder Creek is an entertaining murder mystery. I loved the character of Eve Sawyer she just love’s a mystery and just cant stop herself from investigating, but there is someone who does not want her to dig into it and tries to stop her, can she find out what happened to the missing girl or will she become a target and end up being the story in the paper for once and not the writer.
