True Bastard is the 4th book in the Dark Sparrow Series and it is probably my favorite of the series. I have read a few books by this author and each one of her books that i read just keep getting better and better. This story is about Liam and Catriona Walsh. They were such awesome main charcters and so different than any characters I’ve read before. Their story intrigued me and I was pulled in from page one. This book was full of emotions, drama and danger. I couldn’t get enough. I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this to a friend.

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4)by India Kells 5 out of 5 stars
True Bastard the fourth book in A Dark Sparrow series written by India Kells is amazing I have read all the books in this series so far and I think Liam and Catriona are my favorites. The characters are amazing and well written. I loved their banter and quirks. This book contains danger, suspense, and romance We even get to see what is going on with the other couples from the first three books.
This is the story about Liam.
Liam is a cop and has issues in the last few years he found and met his brothers got injured on the job luckily while he is recuperating e still is active on the most important case of his life and that’s to bring his father down. Faced with the insurmountable task of going through his father’s financials, he is thrown a lifeline when a mutual friend sends novice nun Sister Catriona Walsh to help.
Catriona is good with numbers and Liam can really use her help. The first time Liam meets Catriona is an angel and he is really attractive to her but he needs to keep his distance. Catriona also feels attraction to Liam but he runs hot and cold. Catriona is equally attractive to Liam but will she act on this attraction or will she still say her vows? Will Liam act on his attraction or will he walk away?
You will have to read this amazing story but I highly suggest you rea all the books in this series in order….

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 2) by N.L. Holmes is a historical mystery story set in ancient Egypt and Lord Hani returns where the danger is very real for himself and his family as he searches for the truth. This story had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. NL does a great job of setting the scene with being very descriptive in the writing. Once again there is a lot going on within the story, but NL does a great job of shaping it all together. The thrills and mysteries intensify as we go along on the journey with Lord Hani to find those behind the lies and secrets.

Devil’s Claw is the third book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series. You can read it as a standalone as it has its own ‘story’ but like with any other series, I feel that one should start from the beginning as every book builds upon the previous one when it comes to the characters that are there from one book to the other. I loved the opening to the story – having an old man reflecting on his life and writing a letter that would have an impact 40 years later … powerful. Also, I lover Pacific Northwest so the detailed description of the nature and the maritime life, especially the otters … such a treat! Obviously as it is Logan McKenna story, it means there is a violent death that brings along so many different layers of human nature – we get thrown into greed, personal loss while we also have the hope through the community keeping together and the trust and love we find there … Welcome to the fight for the Lot 429!

This series continues to capture my attention and draw me in immediately. To fully appreciate the depth and development of the main character, you should read this in series order. However it is not necessary to follow the story or enjoy it. Logan has found herself in the middle of another thrilling situation and I couldn’t walk away from this book without finding out what the last page held. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to seeing how the series will continue. Definitely recommended reading.

Nolan, I believe, has perfected the crime/thriller genre. This latest book is just as fast paced and action packed as previous works. Jake and Cody find themselves almost immediately entangled in another blockbuster adventure. These books are so riveting and vivid they read like a movie. You can see the images as you devour each word. This is a must read for all crime/thriller lovers. You won’t go wrong with any of Nolan’s works!

While this isn’t a genre I normally go for, having read the previous read in this series it has become a genre that I will read if this author is writing them! While this book can be read as a stand-alone for the best experience I’d highly suggest reading the others. This book will have you captivated from the very beginning, it will have you on the edge of your seat with the twists and turns wondering what will happen next. This read is filled with action, adventure & suspense, you will never be bored while reading it. I highly recommend this author and the incredible reads he creates, you will not be disappointed!

DEADLY WEAPON (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan, I have really become a fan of this author. I really like action-packed stories and this one gives me all that and more. Almost from the first rattle out of the bag Jake is in deep and from there it’s a roller coaster ride of one situation after another. I love the subtle romance between Jake and his girlfriend she is truly his match and tough-as-nails. As qualified and capable as Jake is he is not a “just follow orders” type of guy, he made the only decision that made sense in the end. This is a timely book, (read coronavirus), even though it was written before the events of this year, so be sure to read the fact sheet at the end about what is real and what is not real, I really enjoyed them. This is a great read and I’d recommend this author to anybody.

I give Rose by Any Other Name (The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series, Book 10) by Becki Willis, 5 stars.
I loved this book!! I had only read the first book in the series before I picked up this one, so I missed what went on in between, but the author did a great job of making me feel like I didn’t miss a thing. The characters are what really make this series so good. All of the ones you love are back, as well as some new ones. This is a cozy mystery book that will keep you guessing until the end. I had an idea, but didn’t know exactly what was going on, and was definitely surprised at the end. I love that in a whodunit!! What makes this exceptional to me was getting the teenagers in on their own mystery. It wasn’t added as an afterthought or just to pull in younger readers. This was blended into the book in such a way that had you guessing which mystery was more important. I absolutely loved this. The teens are smart and hard-working — they don’t expect the adults to do everything, but at the same time they know when to ask for help.
These mysteries together made for an exceptional book that I could not put down. I will definitely be reading more from this series.

One dead body, one ace of spades. Is the playing card an oversight, or is it a trademark?
Detective John O’Sullivan needs to find out if the murder was a one-off, or if the killer plans to work his way through a whole deck of cards. The plot thickens as his team from An Garda Síochána discovers more unsolved murders with the same modus operandi—all over the world.
Amber Reed stumbles into the middle of this mess after learning her teenage daughter is a key-player in the Dublin murder case. Determined to do the right thing, the two offer to help John, even though that puts their own lives in danger.
Pressed by time and duty, John has to protect them and crack the case before more bodies pile up on his watch.

True Bastard by India Kells is the fourth book in A Dark Sparrow Novel series. The series focuses on a different couple in each book. These can be read as standalone books, but I really have enjoyed reading them in order because they build upon each other. These books are fun and exciting to read. Liam and Catriona are fascinating to read about. The contrast between the two characters is so good and really made me enjoy their story even more. This story is not a straight romance but also contains action, thrills, and twists. I have enjoyed the books in this series as well as others by this author and this one did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more by India Kells in the future.

I cannot believe I have not read any of the others in this series. Becki Willis is a mastermind. In this book there are technically two mysteries going on at the same time. The stories flowed well together that I never got the two mysteries confused. The characters do make up the stories. They are complex and fully developed. The first mystery is a new woman is moving into the town and all the women are trying to figure her out. They want to know everything about this newcomer. The second story is about Blake and his summer job. He gathers up his sisters and forms a junior detective group. I highly recommend this story to find out if both parties figure out what is happening. I cannot wait to go back and read some other Becki Willis stories.

A Dead Man Speaks by Lisa Jones Gentry is the first book in the Clive January Mystery series. This is a fantastic combination of paranormal and mystery that really will keep you on the edge of your seat. I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up but I really did enjoy how the story unfolded. I thought the author added such a unique twist on the whole by having the victim play a part in catching his killer. Given how much we got to know about Clive it really felt like we went through the journey with him. The book felt full of twists and turns that made it exciting to read – it added a level of suspense to it that grabs your attention. As the opening to a new series the author has definitely kicked it off with a bang and having read this book I am looking forward to seeing what else is in store.

I have read all of Jake Wolfe’s adventures. I love each one more than the last one. Mark Nolan is a mastermind. He makes Jake go through some incredible adventures. In this one Jake deals with a psycho who is trying to change it. Like the other Jake’s stories there is a lot of action. That is one great thing about Mark Nolan, he keeps the readers engaged with all of the twists and turns, I was at the edge of my seat several times. I recommend all of Jake Wolfe’s stories, but this one is my favorite. I cannot wait to see what is next for Jake.

This was a great adventure from the first page. It is number 4 in the Dark Sparrow Series. I loved this story and was gripped from the very beginning.
Liam is one of the brothers who is on a mission to bring down his evil father. Along with his brothers they are looking for a way to destroy him before he destroys them. When Liam gets a hold of his fathers finances they need an expert to help them with it.
A mutual friend recommends a expert called Catriona. Catriona is a wizard with figures and can find a trail anywhere but what makes her different is she is training to become a nun.
When Liam and Catriona meet there is an instant spark but Liam doesn’t want her to turn her back on her path or force her to do that so he keeps his distance and pushes her away.
Can the angel and the man covered in sin be together? Can they work together to bring his father down or will they end up only destroying themselves.

The Patience of Karma (The Madeline Dawkins Series # 5) By Cynthia Hamilton 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book The Patience of Karma (The Madeline Dawkins Series # 5) by Cynthia Hamilton. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I love the characters of Madeline Dawkins and Mike Delaney. When these two are on the case you can be sure of their determination to solve it. This book has them taking on three different cases. One is a missing person, the other a husband wondering about what his wife is up to, and the last one involves Mike and his past. The story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with Mike and Madeline. The author has a wonderful way of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. This book has emotional moments and also suspenseful ones. Will the cases be solved? Read this book to find out. I have loved this series since I read the first book. Reading about Madeline and Mike’s cases and how they work so well together I can’t help but root for them to succeed. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you turning pages until you have read the final one. I highly recommend both the series and this book.

I’ve been loving Ellen Butler’s Karina Cardinal Mystery series of late and this was no exception. Diamonds & Deception can be read as a standalone, although of course there are certain details that benefit from the context of the previous books. I love this series for its detailed intrigue and fast-paced action. The plotlines and antagonists are well-researched, even if this book has slightly darker themes compared to the previous ones. I really loved how this one focused on Karina as a lawyer, but also how her romance with Mike keeps growing and Karina’s sense of humour made me laugh aloud many times. A suspenseful read.

Liam is such an alpha male until Sister Catriona tames him with her angelic presence. This book had me up long past my bedtime, because I just couldn’t put it down until I read the last page. This book was well worth the lack of sleep. This story took me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it. Another quick paced, compelling story from Ellen! This time, Katrina’s sister Jillian attends a fashion show with Katrina when one of Jillian’s co-workers is accused of stealing diamonds. On top of the diamond theft, Katrina ends up being thrown into something else even worse! This was a smoothly written book. Plenty of suspense and drama. And surprises along the way! Ellen knows how to dive in head first to write a good book!

Pharaoh’s Forgery (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 4) By Ellen Butler 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Pharaoh’s Forgery (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 4) by Ellen Butler. It is a story that includes mystery, danger, as well as twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It is a book that had me hooked from the very beginning. I love the character of Karina Cardinal. She is a woman who is strong, intelligent, and independent. Her boyfriend Mike believes that she always gets herself into sticky situations. This story has Karina going to Cancun. She is asked to bring a package along with her. Sounds easy right? What happens when she is in Cancun has her wondering what has happened to her well-deserved vacation. Read this book to find out what happens. This is a story that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There is never a dull moment in the situations that Karina finds herself in. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are introduced. Some of them have been brought forward from previous books such as Mike and Rodrigo. Others have a selfish agenda that they will try at all costs to make happen. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that you won’t be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan is another action packed, nonstop suspenseful ride that is what I have come to expect from Jake and Cody. I have not read one book in this series that I have not loved but between you and me I think this is my favourite. Mark knows his stuff and delivers great writing and vivid details. Truth be told I always walk away from Mark’s work learning something I didn’t know. The adventure does not let up and continues all the way through this enticing and enthralling, thrill ride. You can read them all as standalones but I would suggest starting from the beginning and falling in love with Cody and how their relationship came to be.

If the plot is well done, the characters are well written, and there is action and intrigue, throw in some curve balls and a vivid picture painted by the author, what more do you need? Valerie does a good job of giving us something that delights all the senses.

Another great story featuring Jake Wolfe and his war dog Cody. This one is non-stop action. If Jake isn’t taking down a plane he is running from a drone shooting at him. He is one guy that would be great to know but yet he wouldn’t because he always brings his work home. l need to say that I love his attitude. He has confidence in getting the job done anyway and anyhow which leads to his cockiness. Cody is just as animated as always. I love when we get chapters or snippets of a story from his POV. It’s always interesting.
We do get to see a large number of returning characters. From his girlfriend Sarah to Grinds his former military friend. I love all of this large cast. They each add to the story yet don’t overpower it.
As always I love reading the “Dear Reader” at the end of the book. Give it a look if you want behind the story scenes. This one might give nightmares.

Book three in Davisson’s ‘Logan McKenna Mystery Series’ and having read the previous two novels in the series I was looking forward to this one and was definitely not disappointed. Back with our fearless and extremely likeable and relatable independent heroine Logan McKenna I felt as though I was back with an old friend, as she has another mystery to solve. This novel sees Logan at a good point in her life, with a new job, plenty of time for her love of music and with daughter Amy home, Logan feels that her new life is just beginning. Logan and Amy rescue an orphaned sea otter pup and this leads them to Jasper’s Sea Otter Centre where they help nurse the pup back to health. The Sea Otter Centre soon gets swept up in the property claim of Lot 429, a stretch of gorgeous coastal property which a lot of powerful players have their sights on including two fighting half siblings. When this leads to a murder of someone close to Logan, she begins to investigate and discovers resentments, greed and painful loss attached to Lot 429. The community must step up and help stop the killer before they strike again and before Logan herself becomes their next victim. This was Logan’s third mystery and I was hooked from page one and the story kept me gripped until the very last page. The storyline was action packed and fast paced with a plot that kept me guessing until the end. The characters are all well defined and fascinating in their own right but Logan really does hold the story together, for me. It can be read as a standalone novel but the reader will have a better understanding of Logan’s backstory if the series is read in order. I look forward to future books in this exciting series.

This book seems in step with the events of 2020 given the subject matter. If you need an escape from current events, this particular book may not be one you want to read until everything calms down.
However, don’t dismiss it entirely. Deadly Weapon is a great read with a ton of action and adventure mixed in with a bit of mystery and danger.
I love the interaction between Jake and Cody. Of course, who doesn’t love an intelligent dog as a side kick? One of my favorite parts of the story is the sidecar bit where Cody is enjoying the ride, in spite of the danger.
Overall, I found Deadly Weapon to be an intense and entertaining read.

This is the third book in the series and where we meet Valerie Williamson and her past has finally caught up with her the time. She has seen Dr Chad Ross, who she has not seen in two decades, and she now knows it’s time for him to be held accountable for what he did to her.
Valeries secrets are getting too much for her and she is literally at her breaking point, with the people she can trust getting smaller by the day. The Lawrenceville’s serial killer, The Executioner is still on her mind, so the question that will haunt her if he will spike again?
I have really enjoyed this series and has kept me hooked right front he very beginning, the writer has really brought these characters to life. Bringing twists and turns and very unpredictable at times. Would truly recommend.
