Logan is such an amazing person. To have dealt with her unfaithful husband’s death. Starting over again, new relationship, and everything that happened with her daughter. My heart beat so fast towards the end of the book. So much happened in such a short time. I’m glad everything worked out for Lori and Shannon.

I loved seeing the new life Logan was building for herself. Being close to her daughter, and her new love. I loved that everyone had such a big heart, and was willing to help care for the otters and the center. There’s some tragic events, some romance, and some thrills. I enjoyed this story a lot.

Seems like every book starts off with a glimpse of some event in time and we see how it plays out in the future. I enjoy seeing Logan make friends and perhaps find something long lasting with Ben. He’s such a great guy. I also love how nature centered the books seem to be. The scenery descriptions place such vivid images in my mind. Another great read.

Logan just cant stay out of drama. In the beautiful pacific North West Logan decides to volunteer for the Raptor Sanctuary, but she gets way more than she bargained for when the vet ends up dead, their office absolutely ransacked and a raptor the vet was specially caring for is also dead. Logan jumps in to figure our what happened and this drags her into the center of trouble while the killer desperately tries to close any ties to them before they get caught. Logan and her friends find themselves in danger. I enjoyed that I didnt immediately have a suspect and had to follow the story with Logan to figure it out.
This book can be read as a stand alone but you will Understand Logan better if you read the previous stories first!

This is the 9th book in the Logan McKenna mystery series. I have read every book on the series and thoroughly enjoyed them. It helps that I love the scenic Oregon coast and the view of the Pacific Ocean! This is a suspenseful mystery with a well defined female lead character. The plot gives the reader the right amount of mystery, deceitful twists and turns to keep asking what’s going to happen next. Things are not what they seem in this complex novel. You don’t have to go back to book one to enjoy this story but you’ll want to see the events that led Logan to this small town on the Oregon coast!

If you haven’t read anything by this author, you are definitely missing out! The Logan McKenna series is one of my favorites and this 9th installment is quite an adventure. I love that we are always catching up with Logan in each book, but the setting is always different which keeps it refreshing. As usual our main character finds herself in the middle of a mysterious situation with a possible murder involved. I thought I was drawing great conclusions as to where we were headed, but the book takes quite a few twists and turns keeping you guessing until the end. You can read this as a standalone if you prefer because the author does a great job of providing background, but I bet you’ll be reaching for the rest of the series just as well! I highly recommend picking this thrilling crime read up and getting lost in Logan’s journey.

Lost and Found: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 9 (Logan McKenna Series)Lost and Found: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 9 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lost and Found is the ninth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller series and can be read as a standalone, although I do recommend reading the previous books just for character development. From birds of prey in the last book, to the crabbing industry in this one, Logan gets her hands in all sorts of things. If you think life has become normal for this strong headed woman, think again….murder seems to follow Logan and this time is no exception. When the suspect turns out to be a friend, she knows she has to help prove their innocence. But, are they innocent?? Who can shee trust? If you have read any of the previous books, you know that Logan McKenna will get the answers and she will not back down until the right person is caught. But can she do that before the killer stops her? I found alot of enjoyment reading this nine book series so far, and I do hope the Logan McKenna series continues.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Logan McKenna is back again in book eight of the series. All of the series can be read as stand alone books, but it does help with background character building to read them all in order. The story itself is not affected by reading the books solo. In Plain Sight brings us back into Logan McKenna’s ever busy life and things seem to be going well for her. She decides to volunteer at a wildlife rescue center, helping wild birds of prey. Her life can not get any better…until a coworker is found murdered. This one is a little different. There is no evidence, or even a sign that a murder took place other than the body. Law enforcement are stumped so Logan, ofcourse, gets involved. This one may be my favorite in the series so far, I cant wait to read the next one in the Logan McKenna series.

Whisper Creek (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 7)Whisper Creek by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Whisper Creek is the 7th installment in the Logan McKenna series and she’s found trouble….and murder…once again. Logan has gone viral with her voilin compositions, her confidence is booming, and her long time boyfriend has finally proposed. Life is perfect. That is, until a woman no one likes turns up dead. The local law enforcement have it all figured out, except Logan is sure they have it all wrong. As always with Logan McKenna, she has to get involved and help solve the murder, and take the suspicion off of her friend. This woman is a magnet for trouble but she knows how to get out of it too. I like that we are in book seven and the story is still fresh but it IS becoming a bit predictable with her always being involved or getting a friend off. Overall, I still love the series so far.

Lost and Found (Logan McKenna Mystery Book 9) by Valerie Davisson. I love this series and each book I read becomes my new favorite. It can be read as a standalone but of course I always think they are best read in order. Logan and Sam are back and this time its in the crabbing industry, which if very cut throat, and of course a dead body. When Sam’s friend is accused of the murder they have to work very fast to clear his name. This case is baffling to Logan because the more she digs the less she finds and she becomes even more confused as to what has happened. Her gut is telling her that something is not right but she continues to try to clear Sam’s friend even though she feels he may not be innocent. Will Logan and Sam figure out this case before its too late and their friend goes to jail or will Logan’s instincts be correct once again. Read this fast paced, thriller to find out!

This is book 9 in the series and can be read as a stand alone book. This whole series is made so you can enjoy reading them in order (for deeper character development) or to read them by themselves. You won’t feel like you are missing anything by reading them out of order or as a stand alone. I am reading each book in the series and I am remind them quicker and quicker with each book. The twists that each book takes is amazing and the character growth is par to none. I like reading about a string female that goes after what she wants and is shown as a protector of those she loves. This books mystery is a kidnapping. As you can expect from this author the scenes feel like they are jumping off the pages and you are watching a movie instead of reading a book. I am not normally a mystery/thriller reader but this series is really good. I found myself trying to solve the mystery with the characters and seeing if what I thought happened really happened. I am not so great at the solving of things but am loving the twists and turns that this book takes. If you have an afternoon to just get lost into a complete mystery that will have y0u second guessing yourself, this is the book for you.

Book 7 in the Logan McKenna Series is just as amazing as book one. You don’t need to read every book in the series and you can start at any book you want. However, once you read one of these books you will be going to read them all. The crazy twists and turns that this book takes will leave you on the edge of your seat till the very end of the book. Just when I thought I was starting to figure out who did what, I was so wrong. I didn’t see the twist coming and that is what really made this book amazing. I love being able to be surprised. Having read the other books int he series, I was really starting to wonder if/when things where going to start repeating themselves. That has NOT happened yet. Logan’s character in this series grows from book to book. She is amazing at what she does and how she just dives into every mystery. She is a supportive friend and very protective of those she loves. This book had me turning pages almost faster than I could read them. I needed to know what happened and then I hit the twist in the book and I didn’t put it down. If you feel like you could be a detective or solve crimes this series is for you. You will constantly be trying to figure out right along with the characters. I can’t wait for the next one.

This book is the 6th in the series and it does not disappoint. The imagery that I have come to love from this author is in full force in this book. Every book in this series can be read as a stand alone but I HIGHLY stress that you read them in order because they are amazing. You will also see the amazing character growth that the author does with Logan. She has bought a house with her significant other and they are working on fixing it up. Then she is meeting her half sister. Then a murder happens. Logan finds herself digging in again. The thing that blows me away is that all of this is happening at the same time. Logan does not live a dull life and she is such a strong female character that I am not used to reading about. I love it. I love that as a reader I am able to follow her journey through things. These books do not disappoint and keeps me turning pages to see what is going to happen. Will she get along with her half-sister, will she be able to solve this murder, will she fix her house up. Its just amazing to me to see how Logan handles everything in her life and still continues to live her life. I am excited to jump into the next book to see what happens with Logan and how bad a$$ she is going to be.

I am just blown away by the way the author is able to describe the scenes in this book. It makes it feel like you are watching a movie or are even in the book yourself. That being said this is the 5th book in the series and each book can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend reading them from the beginning because you are able to see the growth of the main character, Logan. This book takes us to a vacation that Logan, her boyfriend, and adult daughter go on. Personally speaking, I am now wanting to go on a vacation. Maybe, without the mystery in the book but it would definitely make things a little more exciting. This book was a quick read because I just didn’t put it down. I kept turning pages to see what was going to happen and who did what. It is always interesting to see how Logan get involved in all of these adventures. She by any means does not lead a dull life. If you are looking for a quick escape that will have you thinking you could solve any mystery thrown at you, this is your series.

This is book 4 in the series. This book can be read as a stand alone and you won’t feel as if you have missed anything. Each book has their own adventure/mystery. I would recommend reading them in order though, because you get the whole depth of the character development that happens in the stories. Plus each adventure/mystery is amazing and you don’t want to miss anything that happens. Each book deals with someone in the main characters life. This one is her neighbor. This books deals with domestic abuse. Her neighbor has been in hiding and then is found but the main character gets involved in the danger because she might know something. This book had me turning pages to see what was going to happen, who was going to do what, how was this going to end. These thing kept my attention and had me finishing the book in record time. I have noticed that, I am reading each book in this series faster than the last and I am so excited to be able to go straight to the next one. You will find yourself getting submerged into the plot and actually for a but I thought I could be a detective and figure things out. We are in the third book of this series and they just keep getting better. I know that sounds like what everyone is writing but it is true. There is more background information given in this book than the last but it doesn’t feel as though you are reading the same thing again if you have read the other books in the series. If you haven’t and are just starting with this book it will give you some insight as to what the characters are going through and what has happened. I like that the author does this so anyone can start the series with any book. However, I feel like to get the most out of each book starting at the beginning would be the best to get everything you can out of it. In this book we get to know the main characters daughter. We also get to know sea otters. I know weird but it works in this book and actually really gave me some emotions I was not expecting in this book. There is the adventure and mystery that I have come to love with this author and this series. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I am loving to see what happens next and what adventures/mysteries we will go on in each book.

This is the second book in the series and it is better than the first. I feel like this will be a common theme with these books. I was excited to see what adventure we would get in this book. I was not disappointed by any means. An explosion, what a way to create some drama and mystery. Then the author adds in another element of the Vet. It is like getting two stories in one but the way the author has merged them is flawless. It is amazing. This book grips you from the start. It is written so well that you actually connect with the main character. She is amazing and I am not sure anyone can resist liking her. This book has it all the mystery, the multiple points of view, excitement, and has you turning pages as fast as you can. This is the first book in this series. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book and to say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Well, I am not sure you could say pleasantly surprised since I didn’t have any idea what I was getting into. The way the author writes this book just draws you in. It gives you a great background so you instantly feel connected to the main character. You go through the emotions that she goes through. Her friends are there to help her rebuild and start over. I immediately wanted to be their friends. This is how you can tell great writing, if you feel as if you are one of the group or want to be one of the group. What happens when there is a dead body and the main characters friend is being looked at? This is exactly how things end up. She is a strong female in this book and she decides that she needs to help her friend. This is a series and I feel like we are going to see amazing growth with this character. I can’t wait to see the journey she takes and if her super sleuthing will help her friend. I am also wanting her to find love but that is the romantic in me. She isn’t in the market for that in this book but it is a series so never say never.

Forest Park: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 2 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book #2. I unfortunately read the series out of order. I really wished I hadn’t but it is what it is. Logan McKenna is visiting Portland for work. She meets several people and of course someone dies, however there is another whole story going on during this one. I kinda of got lost within the stories. I was trying to figure out how they connected and how the title was incorporated into the story. I eventually did understand why the other story was going on and how it connects with the mystery of who killed the victim. What I don’t understand is why Ben’s story hasn’t been told and what her relationship with him has to do with the troubles she finds herself in by being nosy. While I do have many questions, which may or may not be answered, I do know that I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. There are moments where I got lost and there are moments that are very sad but overall this was a good book. I still want to know more about Ben and his past for some reason.

This is book #6. Just like all the books I have read so far, I can’t seem to put it down. There are so many new characters in this one. I especially like that Logan finally has met her half sister. She and her guy (Ben) bought a house on the Oregon Coast, they are fixing up. However, during this renovation they discover some things that may hide hints to the murder of Charlotte Collins and maybe even more. The details of Charlotte’s murder is a bit hidden so in true fashion, Logan has to get involved. Of course this time she is taking her half-sister Olivia with her. Can they find out who murdered Charlotte Collins or is her death a mystery? Continue the series to find out!!!

Lies That Bind (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 6)Lies That Bind by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! My favorite offering of the series so far! Logan and Ben have decided to buy a fixer upper house in Oregon. Life has settled comfortably for Logan and she is finding happiness, peace and success. She also has discovered she has a half-sister she only recently learned of, and has plans to meet and build a relationship with her. In the midst of all that, as usual, Logan finds lots of mysteries, interesting tidbits and a murder case to work on. Once Logan starts digging and investigating, will Olivia help her or hinder her progress?

I don’t want to give too much away, these books are such a true joy to read and part of it is how there is always something to learn, and So. Much. Detail. Not in an overwhelming way, you almost don’t even notice as you’re reading, as it doesn’t take away from the story in the least – it adds texture and depth.

All Logan McKenna novels are great as stand alone books, but if you start at the beginning and ride along with Logan as she grows and develops, it’s really a gift to yourself. The information about mental health, generational trauma, and healing (or not) from it is really amazing. Such an outstanding series!

Logan is back for another vacation trip along the Oregon coast for the summer with her family. They have such wonderful times planned with beach walks, campfires, a charter boat rental for a full on fishing trip, and excellent time just relaxing with Ben, and her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Things are going beautifully, until Logan is drawn in to another murder – this time, she was one of the last to see the victim and is being checked out as a suspect! Will she be able to give the Safe Harbor people need while the killer gets closer?

Another absolutely wonderful read about Logan, her nuances that make her the fantastic character she is, and the way she follows her heart and mind to protect those around her. There are so many details that jump out at me while reading these books that just build a more beautiful picture, and I always feel as though I’ve learned things after setting one of these novels down.

Lies That Bind is book six in the Logan McKenna storyline. Valerie Davisson brings in different sensitive topics into her writings, and this time is no different. Trauma is sometimes passed from generation to generation, causing a multi-generational curse that is hard to break. Once again, Logan McKenna has found herself in the middle of a murder, and ofcourse she can’t keep her hands clean enough to stay out of it all. While in the middle of buying a new home, meeting her half sister, and now a murder, she really has her hands full this time. This was a great addition to the series and the characters continue to evolve and develop. Even after six books in, I am still intrigued with how Logan keeps finding trouble. Let’s see what new problems she encounters in the next one…..

Safe Harbor is book five in the Logan McKenna series and very well written crime story with a strong female lead. This time around, Logan McKenna is in Oregon and if we have learned anything at all, she has a knack for finding problems. When a murder is reported, Logan finds herself being a suspect and she must prove her innocents. The author has an ability to suck us in to her characters, plots, and settings in a believable way, making this an easy read. I wonder where the next one will take us with Logan and her crew!

Vanishing Day is book four in the Logan McKenna series and once again touches on sensitive topics. While this is a continuation in the series I do think it could be read as a standalone as well. In Vanishing Day, a Lori is trying to keep herself and her small child safe from an abusive husband. When the husband comes to try to make a bad situation worse, Logan steps in to try to help her new friend. Now, with too much information and getting involved in Lori’s dilemma, Logan is also in danger. I really liked the way this author can take a serious topic and twist it into an engaging story, bringing awareness to situations but not lecturing on them. Well done and well written.
