Master Tuscano: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 2)Master Tuscano: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second story in the “Masters of the Consulate” series. It is an interesting world this author has created. It is a paranormal read about Christian and Delilah. This is an interesting and intriguing story. great paranormal, vampire romance series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but it’ll make for much better reading and more enjoyment if the series is read in order as there is a background story running along in the background of the romance storyline. The ongoing storyline of the vampires and their struggles with others that is running through this series. The author has done a great job of creating a great storyline with many twists and turns that keep you entertained and not wanting to put the book down.

The brilliance continues.
The second book of the series is dedicated to Tuscano and Delilah. It takes off immediately after the events of book 1. Highly recommend reading book 1 first as it will help to know the motivation behind the events in this book. The author’s writing is on point – fantastic world building and wonderful characters. The book has it all – vampires, werewolves, witches, action and romance. A series that has me hooked. Bring me book 3 now!

Christian Tuscano is angry when we fist meet him. Delilah, the woman he loves, has been treated horribly by the Vegas syndicate. Christian must find out who gave the orders to take women to be traded to a human trafficking group. Not only that the syndicate was attempting to make the humans believe that the vampires were the ones selling the women to the traffickers.
I really enjoyed this book. Christian and Delilah have great chemistry and each one is trying his or her best to accomplish something so the other doesn’t have to live with tough consequences.

I enjoyed this novel. It is the second book of a series about vampires and it definitely brought the same drama, adventure, and romance that was in the first novel. Christian and Delilah’s story was nonstop suspenseful and had so many twists and turns. I cannot wait to see where this series is going and what the author has in store for us as readers.

Not my favorite, I did enjoy it but it is a new story, same universe.
So now we have Christian and I did not like the character.
The story continues from another characters time line in the series.
We keep the story alive and it is an adventure and experience of the dark and experience.
I have always imagined being a vampire.
If you had no other choice but to turn…..
I give this author great credit to focus on new characters within the same series.
Book two is a great bridge to book three.
Looking forward to more.

Christian and Delilah work to defy the odds together. I’m so glad that this second story in this series is about Christian and Delilah because I’ve been waiting since book one to find out more about the two of them! He is so powerful but also protective of his love who is still human. She’s kidnapped by horrible human traffickers that are trying to get back at the vampires to gain more power for themselves. The horror that she witnessed while she was there is enough to rock anyone to the core and so once again she runs from Christian. There are so many forces working against them but they have a deep love that can’t be ignored or denied. When fate decides for them that it’s time for her to become a vampire she quickly has to adjust and soon realizes that she was more ready than she realized. I really enjoyed watching Delilah embrace her powers as she becomes stronger and fights to protect her new family. I’m so excited to read the next book in this series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This fantasy had a darkness to it that I just adored. A tale all about addiction, hate, pain and how sometimes the right thing does not always look wonderful.
Ian Troy is a Shinree magic-user who happened to be on really good terms with the Warrior Queen who led the Rellan Army. His views on the way the war should be fought differs somewhat t hers and in order to bring piece he wields an old relic that, while it does the job he intended, comes at a pretty hefty price. Years later and Ian is still reeling and still trying to run away from everything that he is.
Honestly, I loved this, its so dark and grim and has an edge to it that is enthralling. The world-building is impressive and leads to something utterly magical. Would definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more of the series. Schneider is an incredibly talented author.

I listened to the audiobook while following along with the ebook. I really enjoyed it, but I probably wouldn’t do it like that again. The Narrator has a very creative reading style and does an amazing job with the the different character voices!

I was drawn in by the synopsis, but found it hard to get into the book. I had to take a couple breaks and a few times paused the audiobook to reread some pages. With that being said, once getting halfway through the book, the Author definitely hit their stride and has me wanting more.

The Author does a fantastic job with main character, Ian Troy, and his struggle with the suffering and heartbreaks he continually faces. The world in which he lives and all the past and continuing pain, makes this book a heavier, darker toned read.

Although I have read many fantasy novels, the Author has a very unique take on magic, and how it works. I have high hopes for the next two books in the series and I look forward to reading more works by this author!

The author of this book has created a story about magic, adventure, action, and suspense. The world in which the fantasy takes place is well written. It has a unique magic system in place. It has unique characters throughout the story. Ian Troy is a character that just feel for him whether in a good way or a bad way depending on parts of the story. He is not your average main character that ends a war and becomes the hero. In order to end a war that has gone on long enough he uses The Crown of Stones which left only him alive. A guilt he has to live with knowing how many he massacred, including his Queen. He is left like a drunk trying to stay sober in the years following. But he cannot hide from the world forever and eventually gets caught back up into the adventure.

The story keep me turning the pages wanting to know what would become of Ian. It was my first read by this author and I enjoyed the experience this author’s story gave me. I am looking forward to reading more of this series and more from this author in the future.

The story had a really good flow and was easy to read. The world building and characterisation was very well developed and I was vested in Ian Troy as the MC. Ian Troy is a man that was raised to have no conscience and when his magic takes a tragic turn, he suddenly finds one. Unfortunately for him, he spends the next 10 years’ time on regret, shame, and suppressing his magic. With a past enemy rising to power seemingly overnight, he struggles with keeping his magic under control while trying to keep Rella, the country he was raised to protect, safe. As he begins the trek to save what he was raised to protect, he finds out that everything is not always as it seems. Much of his past is a lie and secrets are revealed! Will he figure out who he is and what he can do in time to save Rella?

I enjoyed this read. At times, I felt like there was a lot going on. I feel like the author did an excellent job in world building and weaving in its backstory throughout the story. I enjoyed how she wove together the relationships between characters. I appreciated how I didn’t always see the twists and turns coming, too. This was an excellent beginning to what promises to be a pretty epic trilogy! Looking forward to book 2!

This isn’t a genre I read often but I thought I would take a chance on this one. It took me a little while to get into it but once I did I was hooked. The author did a great job building a world full of fantasy, action, magic, and great characters. This book is different from any other fantasy books I have read before and that sets it apart and makes for good reading. Ian Troy has spent a very long time running away from his past but people haven’t forgotten what he did. There is certainly a high price to pay for using magic. We are taken on an adventure in this story and left wanting more. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price AUDIO BOOK by C. L. Schneider – Review by Taylor Stephenson

Best Audio Story Yet

The author has done it again!!! I’ve read another of her series, so I was really excited to sink my teeth into another of her fantasy series. With her story, and the narration this is easily my favorite audible. The narrator did an absolutely phenomenal job bringing this story to life. I haven’t ever heard anyone do quite so many different vocals, and do them WELL.

This dark, intense, and highly action packed story is gripping from beginning to end. I picked it up and simply couldn’t put it down. It was a little raunchier than I was expecting, so I had to take some breaks. The main character can be a bit of a rake. I would have liked to see a little more character development, which may be happening in his next adventure.

All in all, I can’t wait to read the second book and find out what happens next.

Captivating with a shocking ending. Following Ian Troy as he navigates how to save the kingdom from war and other powerful shinrees all while battling his own demons. This is a story that will have you wondering what’s next. Initially I struggled to get into the book but it didn’t take long that I found myself not wanting to stop listening. The narration was fantastic and helped be to tell the story. The character development was strong especially when you think you’ve figured out a character and it all changes. I am definitely ready for the next bookin this saga.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ian Troy is a magic “Shinree” soldier who has freedom in a world where anyone who weilds magic is drugged and enslaved due to the destruction they can cause. The magic cost in this particular story is death of anything with life near the spell casted. People… trees… grass… everything. Ian learns this devastating fact on a major scale when he discovers the crown of stones.

However there is so much more to Ian’s Story as you meet the characters surrounding him and journey into a deep dark tunnel of secrets of his birth, his heritage and all the lies and manipulation that have plagued his entire existence.

This is the first book of a series exploring multiple races at war with one another for the same reason… its all about control. it begs the question can the races find a way to get along?

I’m very intrigued as the final chapter left me with my jaw hanging open at its ending that I wasn’t expecting.

This book was awesome and truly unique. The setup was clean, the magic system came with consequences and there is truly no “right side” of the war. It shows the complexity you find in a normal society. The book starts out a bit slow as you get to know the main character and get the setup for his history and what condition the world is in, but when it picks up, it is non-stop progression. There are also twists and turns I didn’t expect or see coming. The author definitely didn’t take it easy on these people! A great read for someone looking for an action-packed fantasy novel.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ian Troy is a Shinree, a race of magic addicts whom have been taken into slavery, drugged and made to forget their history, identities and their addictions, but Ian was brought up differently, he was brought up to be a soldier for Rella, a kingdom in a perpetual war, but underneath is an innate talent for wielding magic which he wishes he could use more, but the Queen forbids it, until one day, in the midst of the latest battle, there is an earthly upheaval and during the throes of it, Ian starts to feel the vibrations of magic nearby. As he searches for the item, Ian is unaware of the power he is about to unleash, so when he finds the Crown of Stones, all he can feel is the magic within it, the pleasure and the pain combine and block out all sense and all he wants to find is peace, so he casts using the magic he has found, however, it isn’t until afterwards that he realises the price that he has just paid to achieve that wish.

As the years pass, Ian is devoted to another addiction, regret, his regret for what happened and the losses he still feels, so he tries to drown the pain and the need to cast with wine, women and bounty hunting, but as he is chasing his latest target, he is confronted with something entirely different. He has been chasing this particular woman for what seems an age, however, when she finally confronts him, nothing is as it seems and he is thrown back into that seamless addiction he had ten years before, but this time, Ian is not sure that he can control, or curb it again, but that is not the only thing that has him worried, this encounter has made Ian sure that the Crown of Stones is being sought by another.

As he makes his way back across the realms to Rella, he encounters more than he bargains for in both the people and the places he travels through, but deception surrounds him, as does magic and that is the one thing that he does not want. Will Ian be able to get to the Crown of Stones before anyone else has the chance to use it with nefarious intent, or will the danger and his addiction prevail? This is a race against time through a fantasy land filled with adventure, bravery, truths, lies and most of all magic as one man has to face his demons head on in order to find the peace he truly desires.

Magic-Price is an epic fantasy. This is the first book in the series The Crown of Stones. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantastical journeys. My favorite epic fantasies are the LOTR series, the Hobbit and the Witcher. Which basically means I have pretty high standards with this genre, and Magic-Price DID NOT disappoint!

From the beginning Ian is in the thick of a losing war and he uses magic to do what must be done to stop it. However, using magic comes with a steep price and he must pay it. For 10 years Ian has been living with the guilt of his actions. Because of that he lives on the move and refuses to use magic. All of that quickly changes for Ian when he finds the woman he’s been bounty hunting. After this meeting Ian is forced onto a path that not only requires him to start using magic again, but to also face his past deeds.

To right his wrongs Ian must begin a journey into enemy lands with his two companions Jarryd and Malaq. Along the way they create a bond of friendship and face unimaginable burdens together. When the fate of the world rest in the trio’s hands they have to overcome all obstacles to save everyone.

This book was a page turner for me. I could not get enough. I absolutley loved it for the amazing world building and because the characters were written with great depth and intensity. I cannot wait to see what is in store for us in the next books!

We see every little detail through Ian’s eyes, and the details the author gives us makes your imagination run wild. I also personally love how this author introduces the magic in this series. It was introduced slowly, and in enough detail that it developed with the storyline. I personally love fantasy novels, and this one is definitely in the top fantasy novels that I have read. Ian Troy, a Shinree, was born and raised to protect the Rellan people. The Shinree have been enslaved for a long time by using a drug to suppress the ability to use magic. The Shinree people would become addicted to using magic and became a threat to others by pulling the life force (friend and foe alike) out of everything around them while using their magic. As the Rellan army and the future of Rella seems lost Ian finds the Crown of Stones amidst the battle and against the orders of the Rellan queen, he uses it to end the war killing everyone around him, including the queen and all of the Rellan soldiers. Ian hides the Crown of Stones to prevent him or anyone else using the power of the Crown. Ten Years later he is still trying to cope with that decision by isolating himself. He is forced to use magic again when he runs into an unlikely assassin and they Crown has been taken and the lands he has tried for so long to protect is in danger once again.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. The thought of it was intriguing and I was interested in where the story would take. However, I had a really hard time being engaged in this book. It wasn’t that nothing was happening because there definitely was a lot of things going on throughout the book, but I struggled to not fall asleep every time I started reading this book. It didn’t really start engaging me until the last few chapters. This is the first in this series and I will probably not continue which is kind of disappointing.

I am sure there are a group of people that would enjoy reading this book. I read a lot of books and different genres and this one just was not for me. It took me much longer than normal to read. It took well over a week which is very unusual for me even being 500 pages.

This was a little out of my comfort bubble as I typically strive for fantasy with a female driven main character. I am so glad I decided to try something new out!

Ian Troy being that he is a bounty hunter and so grief stricken I love him. He really did give me some of “The Witcher” vibes but more emotion driven. The world building in this is fantastic and the characters aren’t many I have come by!

You could feel every character’s emotion and tell they truly meant how they felt. And It was a never ending ride of true action fantasy.

I read it fairly quickly and cannot wait to pick up the next!

I fell in love with the various voices of the actor. He did a fabulous job making this audiobook relaistic and knowing when a different character was speaking. That makes an audiobook 100% better because of the performance. The book was packed with adventure, thrill, and passion. The twists and turns in the storyline kept me listening for hours. I really enjoyed reading this one. Between the characters, the use of magic and the world in which it transported me to… I can’t decide what I enjoyed more.
But I am leaning more toward the amazing world building of this story… it felt real.
Ian Troy, a Shinree, addicted to his magic he is born to fight in a longstanding war, and goes against orders and uses the Crown of Stone to end the war. It comes with a huge price tag and destroyed lives.
He casts himself into exile for 10 years and even though he refrains from using magic, he turns to wine to help with that addiction.
I enjoyed his character and his development over the course of the book. Excided to get book 2 to continue with this tale.
